Divinity OS 2

What went right?
Considering every other CRPG series to release in the last few years has been meh to decent why did this one manage to do it right?

You tell me, sounds like you've been playing it. How is it?

But the question is, why couldn't the other CRPGs do it right?

I'll be honest, I thought the first one was kinda boring. I'm hoping the DM tools on this one end up fueling a community similar to what Neverwinter Nights had though.

The sequel came out? I haven't paid attention to any news or development about it. Can I actually be a lizardman?

What exactly is the DM mode anyways?

It's out next week. You can be a lizardman, a knife ear, a bag of bones and a manlet.

i've only ever played pillars of eternity. i really enjoyed the characters and depth, but the combat kills me. is the combat in this similar?

Alright, that's cool. Any idea if I can pull off two Lone Wolf characters like in the first? If so, I might give this a pirate

No, it's turned based and decent.

Basically an ingame editor.

like final fantasy?

No, positioning actually matters in it. It's more like Fallout 1/2 but enhanced.

I seriously don't get all the bitching about the difficulty in the first game.

I rock the entire game as two beefy battlemages slapping shit while exploding dudes
Apparently they were gay for each other the whole time, whoops.

That is casuals for you user.

Jesus Christ how did I not know about this?

It was a blast, I had one dude with a sword and shield who'd tank damage and dish out healing, while the other guy cut people up with two swords while dashing around shooting fireballs. I died a few times, but I was never stuck.

But yeah, this game is totally bullshit and melee is useless!

THE FUCK?! NO BLACKS ON THIS GAME COVER?!

IT IS 2017, YOU BIGOTS!!!!!

If anything it encouraged you to repeat the same combat techniques because in reality only a few would work effectively, (rain>Lightning, oil>fire, etc) became a bit mundane after a while. I can tell you that this game shows quite a lot more promise. Give it a try Anons, should be some torrents about.

I'd rather not support sjws.

...

When is this thing out of early access?

Yeah, I wish there was a wider variety of skills. Hopefully the sequel has more, but fuck if I know.

They arent, the first game even mocked karl marx.

you disgust me

On the 14th, and it's releasing on gog, so you should be able to play with buyfags.

Can i play as a cool lizardman?

???

Among other things, yes.

why did he have to die, Holla Forums?

But is he a "cool" lizardman?

looks like some nice independent wymyn game is going to be great

what did he mean by this?

I took a look at this a while ago. It does sound good but at the same time it sounds too optimistic. Everyone being voice acted? I don't think non mainstream RPGs sell enough to make this game profitable. I'll most likely be buying it though

It's a casualised and buggy mess, and I played it two weeks ago. It's nothing compared to the first.

They've put a lot of effort into improving the game, far too late for most people. I imagine most of the RECENT reviews are praising them for that. Anyone who really doesn't like the game (whether they are still justified or not) has moved on by now.

Do the female mages look like they are wearing burqas? I tried replaying the enhanced edition after I was sensitized to the SJW bullshit and I couldn't get past that, and the replacement mods wore bad.

I loved the first OS and Dragon Commander is a genuinely fun game the first time you play it.

OP please stop being a faggot and elaborate. What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? Whats the same? Whats improved? Have undead been added as a playable race yet?

I watched Sips and Lewis play it what seems like a year ago, thought the graphics were a major improvement but those chuckleheads cant into RPGs so the series was a mess.

Unless GOG does Galaxy multiplayer integration shit, where it's unplayable without GOG Galaxy installed. The fucking Steam imitation shit is cancer.

Is OS worth getting into? I played 30 minutes of it, using a 2hander and a mage. The first like 20 minutes were the tutorial dungeon and the fights, and I really liked that. Then I got put into this big harbour town and my log filled up with a shitton of sidequests that were mostly "go here and see this guy", and at some point I got teleported to outer space and I lost interest.
What I'm trying to say is that shittons of text doesn't really interest me, especially when it's fully voiced. But I liked the gameplay and I wonder just how much of the game is fighting and how much of it is words words words

This is reason to pirate

Letting pirates play on official servers just wouldn't be right

Sure, but locking all multiplayer behind this new multiplayer DRM shit is no good either. LAN support and private hosting shouldn't get scrapped just because you're scared of pirates and want DRM while claiming you are selling DRM-free.

I'm getting sick of OS.
Divinity 3 when?

I really hope this one doesnt have tedious as fuck start like the first OS had.

Also just my autism but i do hope there's more equipment types for casters than just staffs, wands&robes. Never been a fan of those, robes in particular tend to just make me rather roll warriors or rogues instead which is a shame as no doubt this game also has magic as the best and most fun choice available.

First game was kickstarted and it sold a lot so they can make a second game as they fucking want without sucking publisher dicks

That was the original kikestarter intent but 99% of kikestarted games are just "give me money for my indie flash game shit" yeah

Is a nonlethal play-trough possible?

There is any RPG at all where you can finish it with just dialog?

Fallout.

Yeah, sure. Enjoy your censorship burkas, fat acceptance, LGBT agenda pushing and muh wymin in gayming.

FO2 or AoD come to mind.

Where?

Do you mean stats or aesthetics? Because the different races have very different aesthetics going on. The game also encourages everyone to learn at least a bit of magic from what I've been seeing.

It might be worth a pirate when it comes out.

Probably because the last real CRPG's that weren't glorified ARPG's came out decades ago, and as such the genre as a whole was technically limited and still experimenting with adapting pen and paper rulesets to a digital system. Turns out with current technology they still can't break too far away from the action side of CRPG's, but at the very least they've put in the effort to add more player interaction and thought to the entire system rather than dicerolling all the outcomes in the background while players tailor their stats to best compensate for said dice rolls.

Generally speaking, what's peoples preference when it comes to turn based or real time with pause combat?
I strongly favor a pure turn based system for anything that has you playing an entire party. The only game I think did it really well was KotOR 1 & 2, I'm not sure why but maybe it's the camera and there's also not a big need to micromanage your party.
Don't get me wrong, I can handle Planescape Torment, Neverwinter, UnderRail, Pillars of Eternity etc. but they just don't feel as good to play.

Also I pirated and played a bit of the EA version but didn't want to spoil myself too much on the game other than combat/mechanic changes. I liked the little I played, feels faster paced. I'm cautiously optimistic about the game but I wont buy it without pirating the full version first.

Turn based RPGs get tedious when fighting easy and trivial enemies; they also don't tend to have less pressure on the player during hard fights. RTwP is the opposite, so it's the one I tend to prefer. Not that I mind turn based all that much, I just feel it's inferior to RTwP.

Also
This is the exact definition of a diverse cast, yet (((they))) will still complain about it not being black diverse enough :^)

I definitely agree with you on that and Divinity Original Sin is a big offender regarding this. But I also think this can be avoided if you turn up the speed, higher damage/less HP, faster regeneration of AP, faster and more fluid animations, avoiding adding "trash mob" encounters etc.
If I play a party based game I prefer a more tactical approach, and RTwP's usually tend to focus less on character positioning which I think removes a large chunk to complexity.

I'd rather have turn based with in depth tactical requirements or skip the middleman and go straight for realtime combat.
The issue with realtime combat is of course that it's hard to implement in a party based game. Actually Dragon Age: Origins comes to mind as another RTwP game I enjoyed over many others.

Can you become a skelly? I heard long ago that it was in development.

Are there boob plate and high heels?
If not im pirating it

Yep. Pros
Cons

Sure, I'm going to replay the entire mind numbing game and or spend two additional hours digging thru their forums just to post three dialogues and a blog post you're going to gloss over anyway. And I really love how you're ignoring the rest of that as if it's alright.

Their recent games are meh to alright despite being buggy and neutered by shoehorned gimmicks but larian is cancer and you know it. What's more you can bullshit all you want but A: this will remain a twitch bait tier, shallow coop shit at best no matter how much you polish that knob and B: sooner or later you'll look in the mirror and ask was I really that much of a sap to not only kikestart but actually shill this crap?

Worst design. I'm perfectly fine with giving artists creative freedom and everything doesn't have to have a purpose as long as the design looks good in the end
But heavy armor with heels just triggers me. Save that shit for the mages that wear fabric.
Boob plates are dope though

That is what i'm going as. The simple fact that I can name myself that alone made it worth it.

Fraid you have to stick to leather and cloth if you want to slut it up.

On the plus side all the females are pretty qt.

Are the divinity games any good? I still have one for my xbox 360 I picked up years ago but I haven't gotten around to playing it since then.

Are there any stat/racial bonuses depending on what race of undead you play as?

Aesthetics, i'm just not a fan of robes and staffs in general when it comes to casters.

If it's wide enough and actually stable it might not be as silly as it looks. Would still be interesting if her foot got caught in the stirrups, stuck in mud or slipped on rough terrain.

Whatever gets you thru the day. I mean, it can't be easy to be as morally bankrupt as to purposely ignore the existence of Dragon Commander or how they went from ha, trolls are fat and slow in DD to oh, trolls are fat and you just hurt their feelings ~joke~ in DK to matchmaking in OS with the check your privilege tier response to a that lardass is fat comment.

You apparently get one of the race bonuses while getting the undead bonus.
So undead lizard would get undead and sophisticated(+2Int).

I don't think this is a problem that can be solved with technology, at least not without some incredibly advanced AI. In a pen&paper game the DM and the players can imagine pretty much anything they want. One simple misstep by the players can completely change the course of the game. Imagine the heroes escorting the king, and one player rolls five critical failures in a row and his character ends up killing the king by accident, so now they are wanted criminals in the entire kingdom. The story can take a completely different turn than planned, the former heroes now become outlaws, have to go underground, start interacting with all sorts of factions that want to fill in the power vacuum, and so on.

You cannot have this sort of thing happen in a CRPG, no game designer is going to design an entire campaign that hinges on a player getting screwed by the RNG this badly. No one is going to design a 10+ hour scenario in a campaign if most players will never see it. Arcanum had this problem, there were skills like gambling or a spell to summon the spirits of the dead, but for most of the game those skill were completely useless because there was not enough designed for them.

Computers are good at crunching numbers, and combat is all about crunching numbers, so combat-heavy CRPGs work best in this medium. In a pen&paper RPG you can roll a low-intelligent wizard and the GM can design all sorts of wacky stories around that fact. In a CRPG you are simply stuck with a shitty character.

I hope you're not lying, user.

I'm not a fan of statues, but they put a lot of thought into it. I hope mine actually arrives.
14th is release day, would it arrive later or sooner? If not I will have to contact them, which is a hassle but I'm hoping it arrives early.

Fauns or whatever sounds cliche and boring but undead look great.

You're fucking with us, right?

Show me where they have Fat acceptance user.

...

He forgot unique dialogue, making health potions poison and then you can add dye and give them to friends as health potions, also to blend in you cover up or murder 4 people for their faces. Just kidding about the last one, dwarves aren't people.

I will be deeply disappointed if you can't make a skeleton pun in every dialogue choice.

Larian has shit writing, so you will probably get a lot.

Yeah, don't think you'll able to recreate a Planescape module though

That's tame as fuck user. "Yeah I've met a bunch of women who like D:OS, I'd guess maybe a third of the playerbase is female".

Again, why would I bother replaying a game I found truly shit just to post a screencap which you being a good and proper shill would gloss over anyway? Make an effort to present larian as something other than spineless hipsters or OS as having some other quality other than the coop garbage and I'll return the effort. Hell, how about you address most obvious ie the censorship?

The whole XDD is soo good and nu-huh twitter style of arguing isn't really something I care for. And you can latch on a snippet and pretend you found the holy grail but anyone who played Dragon Commander in particular knows you're full of shit.

pornwhen?

Probably never.
Dragon Commander's best girl have barely a handful of good pron

Top kek
Regular Kek.

...

Okay, prosecutor. I can see you are full of "banter" and shit, but suspect will still get away until you goddamn show evidence of SJWism.
Quick look into >wikipedia reveals "don't ask, don't tell" stuff. Is that you are on about?

Now we're at least getting somewhere.

os was pure shit, i quit playing after 20 minutes. how would this one be any better? will the terrible turn-based combat and unfunny tryhard-dialogues be fixed?

Yeah I'd really rather not play a game by devs that cave to sjws thanks.

>

Never mind. It's gonna have huge mod support.

Ever heard of recon? That's what you do when need intel is needed.
Yes, it might be hell.
Yes, you will have a wish to die.
Yes, you might want to stay at home, comfy in your fucking chair, playing video games without socjus pander and whatsoever.
But without doing recon, espionage and etc. nobody will know the truth and everybody will take the wrong pill.
You know what? You're just sissy panic-inducing coward. Or, maybe, you work for enemy front.
Either fucking dig into dirt to find gold, or fuck off to your mommy.

Are you that gypsie user?

Or you could just not support sjws. Fuck is all this recon nonsense?

They sounds like the nigger race to me.

Also
SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS BULLSHIT

wtf i love Divinity OS 2â„¢ now

Wasn't the reason they changed it so it would match the in game armor more? I can't see why they would censor that but leave in if they didn't want to show boobs.

They changed the in game armor too obviously.

God damn it posted the same image twice. They changed it because sjws complained.

The real question is, how do we manipulate SJW's into the mindset of that video game devs should stop slut shaming characters and advocate for a large (((diversity))) of clothing options instead of covering everyone up?

It's ok when a women dresses like a slut for themselves but if a man wants to see it then it's the male gaze or something.
I seriously thought SJWs were saying "the male gays" for the longest time and I was wondering why they hated gay people

Congratulation user, your pic nearly gave me a brain aneurysm… I literally want to bite through some of these faggots throat. Not kidding! And i'm too old to have this kind autistic rages. Bravo, fucking bravo!

God, i fucking hope some miracle make N-Korea launch their scrapped nukes and all these faggots will be purged from the face of Earth. In the most painful way it just possible.
God.Fucking.Damn.All.Of.Them.

If all the clothing is unisex and you can dress up your elf mage to look like a gay stripper, I can't see how they'd be able make that argument.
Also are you trying to tell women that they're not allowed to dress their female character in a way that represents themselves? :^)

Is the game worth playing now?
Or should I wait for the full release?

Full release since you can't contine from the beta's saves.

making it so males could wear sexy female clothing would be a lot of fucking work for virtually no one to enjoy and would make the game a laughing stock

I'd be fine with that, is the single player experience better compared to the first game?

It felt like co-op was needed to make the first game a bit enjoyable to me.

its not only OS
the whole series actuallly is good (well i didnt play dragon comander so i cant speak for that one)

It depends on how you "code" the cloth from the start I guess. A decent number of games lets you mold the character bodies nearly like clay and the clothes shape themselves after the body type.

I've tried to get into Divinity 2 on at least 2 (maybe 3) occasions and I just get super bored once I unlock my dragon form. The aerial combat is just such a drag.

PS:T

I'd love to see a game with crit failure tables. Like, combat pauses and a big doom graphic appears and the critical failure table pops up and begins to roll.

thatd be fun

Fallout had one. Granted, the effects weren't as spectacular as the GURPS ones it was based on.

Easy, just tell them that it's empowering the female form, or putting the female form up on a pedestal, and that they're taking power away from women by proxy, covering women up would be taking female empowerment out of the picture, and assisting the patriarchy! These sensors in question should also be sure to check their own privilege.

I'd been thinking about that for a while myself actually, I can't really think of any other way to get around the censorship brigade without saying it's empowering, unless you made a comment and comparison about women's clothing in real life or something. Ultimately, you have to play these people's cards against them, because it seems to be the only plays they'll understand, at least initially anyway.

Is it better than the first one? I found the first one to be quite boring.

Yeah but I enjoyed the first one but you still might not. It is the first game but better in every way.

You'll also have dialogue options of that race plus undead themed ones iirc.

The second game improve these aspects in any way?

>orogion.deviantart.com/journal/Save-the-Boob-plate-380891149
They changed it due to death threats.

You forgot that you can also play dead to trick enemies.
I hope that there will be dogs in towns that you'd need to avoid so that they won't blow your cover. But there probably won't be anything like that.

Yes check out some the dev video's they have. Combat looks miles better.

What a surprise.

I swear, the West is becoming more and more gay.

Sorry it isn't a fucking generic JRPG faggot.

...

Probably not, but that would be good. I also wonder if its possible to keep enemies from realizing you are undead unless you take damage that would normally cause your character to bleed. Likewise, undead should be immune to bleeding.

That isn't how it works at all. You have 2 to 4 people to play as user. Some are going to be more right click focused and some more spell focused. The game gives you a lot of spells and many spells last more than one turn. If you are playing a mage and spending most of the time right clicking with hiim then you are probably doing something wrong.

I was glancing at the steam reviews. How autistic do you have to be to spend upwards to 300 hours on a single chapter EA game?

Its just that good.

I don't know, one user here spent 39 hours on the first mission of OS 1 and then 24 hours spamming about how the first mission didn't have as much content as the full game.

...

Just how? Fuck me.

I think I actually spent 40 hours too in the first area, when the game was in early access (only western Cyceal was playable). I'm a slow player.

Watched a dev stream a while ago, set off too many red flags so ill just give it a week or two or pirate it to see for myself. Liked the first one but im not getting much "hype" for this one.

Taking it slow is fine. But knowing that only ~10% of the game is available and that you'll have to replay the first chapter after pouring your heart into those 40 hours is kind of ruining the game for yourself.
Not to mention 300 hours like some of these turbo autists.
I purposefully only played 45 minutes to an hour of the Divinity 2 EA build because I know I'll probably play through the first chapter 2-3 times in the full version as well.

Maybe the game process stayed up in the background even after they thought they closed it, I know that's how I clocked over 100 hours in Starbound.

Come again when you spot the obligatory "inclusive feminist community manager", this here isn't worth shit.
But no seriously, I'm pretty sure there's some SJW-inspired shit among the devs somewhere. But it's not this. SJWs are pretty much everywhere, and I've gotten used to watered down, uncontroversial content in video games due to morality concerns. The people playing modern video games, we're all pretty much just empty shells

I saw these images before, but never really questioned them until now. The one without the red shirt looks shopped and here's why I think that:

Even if it wasn't a shop, it's still hardly a comparison of pre-release and release versions, as the scene is exactly the same, which means that both of these screenshots would have to be taken on the same version and the same session, so both armors would have to be in the game. Even if someone modded unused armor in and then took another screen, managing to take a screen with the same animation frame for the idle pose and the grass is very unlikely.
