This brings about some quality of life changes and general improvements to the game as well as letting you customize things like pet AI, highly recommended. Extract this to the elona main folder and launch from the coffee cup icon. Made by some qt named annabannana and more recently taking up the torch a guy named bloodyshade.

A jap roguelike with an overworld and no permadeath. Can be played a ton of different ways like being a farmer who grows magic items as well as veggies, a piano player, and there's some new necromancy shit that was added. There is a ton of shit to do in the game.

Can be a bit grind heavy once you get settled though. Join in on the fun!

performaids are cute

CUUUTTTEEEE

...

...

...

I wonder if he's encountered the Performaid bitchiack yet.

So as someone whose only RL experience is say, Castle of the Winds and Reaping the Dungeon, will I enjoy this? I like to do silly things

alright, do i have to worry about leveling up too quickly or anything? how big of a deal is scaling?

also is there any easy way to stop rogue bosses from stealing all my traveler's food

What resolution are you guys playing at? I can't put it at something that's for my aspect ratio unless it's

Learn the controls and play around with the game and have fun. Try and create a test character first to test the waters so you can get a grasp as to what you'll want to play when you make your serious character. Elona is a great time and I really hope you join; these threads have been booming in popularity recently and it's great to see so many Anons get into the game all of a sudden.

You won't have to worry at all. In a way, Elona is like Morrowind in the fact that it's about going wild and training to more or less become god. Find the best, most fun way to succeed and enjoy yourself and do crazy shit all the while.
Is it even a thing? Randomly generated dungeons are assigned a level, so, you just go into a dungeon that's at a level that you're either in the mood for or think you can handle.
Yeah
kill them

Width is 1096 and height is 700
Did it so it'd fit my shitty 1360x768 display without cutting into my taskbar but still giving me plenty of width to see extra shit with. Just experiment to try and find something that works for you.

It feels like I always run into more bandits when I carry less cargos of traveler's food than when I carry more. Nearly every time I've run into them, it's been when I have one or two cargos on me. Thank god I just got a cooler, I'm gonna cook a shitload of meals to carry.

Alright mate, thanks

I'm currently attempting to teach my valkyrie shadow step via elona custom's custom AI, and I have an AI setup to use shadow step when target distance >= 1 and otherwise move towards me, however, my valk just used cheer despite me not having it in her AI to do that. (The game states that it's using the AI I setup) What I want to ask is does the game default to doing something else in the event that a custom AI fails to use a special action during training?

Almost nothing is scaled based on level. Most things are scaled based on Fame if they are scaled at all. You lose a lot of fame if you die, so if things get too hard they fix themselves.

Dungeons are a special case. The highest level dungeon you've completed determines what level range of dungeons show up on the world map.

If you're just looking for easy food to carry as you travel, look into making rice balls. They don't count as cargo, don't rot, and only take two turns to eat. You'll need a farm and some strange seeds to get the rice for it, though.

Some pets might have a hardcoded AI. For instance, I think healer pets will heal when appropriate even when there's nothing in their AI to say to do so. I think this is because default pet AI is built around random chance (random chance to attack or move or use a skill randomly), and they are given a few non-random triggers that don't actually get shut off by custom.

Anyway, easy way to train Shadowstep is with the following 1-line AI:

If Self HP > 10%, Shadowstep, Preserve Target.

Just make sure she doesn't have any particularly powerful attack gear or she might kill herself, I've seen that a lot with proximity assist weapons.

Thanks. Guess I'll go do some harvest quests to see if I can get some as a reward.

That taught my murder knight much quicker, but it seems that the valkyrie has an AI that completely overrides elona custom's ai feature she won't listen to a single command I put in. Is there a way to get around this? Maybe with leold and spending AP?

Leold doesn't seem to work. Thank you for the suggestion for training abilities on to my pets . Anyone considering evolving a little girl into valkyrie, make sure you want a pet that only moves forward and attacks and rarely cheers

I never really had a problem getting my valkyrie to shoot via AI, but I had the AI set up to make her Cheer anyway. Then I replaced her with a Golden Goose, so I had cheer AND platinum song.

FYI, if you can't get enough god hearts, you can evolve a Flying Frog or Poison Arrow Frog into Frogenrolla with Another Heart for Platinum Song. Not quite as good as the Golden goose (80/80 Life/Mana vs 90/150), but much easier to get. The last option is to evolve a nymph into loreley with Magic Heart, but that defeats the purpose of using a more common heart AND gives you an even worse stated pet.

How do you use Custom's custom AI? Command flag doesn't do anything with that and I can see any tools that help in the game world.

Also, am I free to slap in pic related for the default face things as a face 3 or even replacer face1 in the non-user graphic folder, or will that accidentally my faces?

There's a few tricks you can do easy at low level, but nothing you need to worry about for your first character.

Certain things scale off of fame, certain things scale off of level. Level of bandits, randomly generated dungeons, quest board quests, fighter guild quests, etc. Some are a combo of both.

Bread is also good. Very filling, cheap to make, and always available at bakers. Never rots too. Rice balls are great for herb food though.

Bandits are Fame
Dungeons are "Memory of deepest of Nefia"
Fighters guild quests are level.

Command flag and the directive action seem to turn off Custom AI entirely. You need to keep your pets in Onslaught mode for the AI to work. Which might actually have been the problem here .

As for the Faces, your image has WAY fewer than the default one, so I'm going to go with "that's a bad idea".

Is there any way to increase my inventory item limit from 200?

No. At best, you can store a few items in a cooler or in a dimensional pocket (spell).

How difficult are wish spellbooks to read? I just found my first one with 1 charge and I'm afraid to use it.

don't sweat on it too much
wishes aren't as useful as you might think.

I was specifically talking about the Wish spell book. My literacy is 59 and I always use reading party for more difficult books without problem, I'm just wondering if I should level up my literacy some more before attempting to read wish.

I just like the idea to be able to cast a spell and wish for anything I want. Being all powerful etc. On top of that it would feel wasteful to fail reading the book.

I missed that you said "wish" I wasn't even aware Wish had a spellbook at all, I thought it was only gained through dreams and wonder scrolls, rarely at that.

Sorry I misread that.

Even if you manage to read to book though, you won't be able to cast the spell. You'll be stuck at a 1% chance to cast unless your casting is something absurd.

Wish needs something ridiculous like 200 Literacy to read and 1000+ Casting to reliably cast.

It happens, no worries.

Wew. Thanks for crushing my dreams I guess.

If you want to be able to "cast" wish reliably, you need to find a Rod of Wish. Of course, they come with only 1 charge and can't be recharged or duplicated, but at least you can summon a God where you need him.

Also don't go attempting to cast Wish casually; even if you fail, it'll gain spell levels, and Wish gets more difficult to cast as it gains spell levels.

Completely forgot those exist, thanks for the reminder.

I'm actually aware of that, I looked up the spell/book on the wiki but it didn't make any mention on how difficult the book is to read, other than it being the most difficult. That was my main concern. Rods will have to do if I get lucky enough to find any. That'll also give me an excuse to train magic device before finding one.

Rods of wishing cannot fail

Once your casting is over 1310 the casting chance actually DOES increase with level if the equation on the wiki is to be believed. So don't think you are permanently screwed if you level up your wish spell… just mostly screwed.

I don't think your magic device skill matters in being able to use the rod.

Well damn, no need to grind then. Neat

You'll want to grind it anyway for rods of domination

Or you could just grind the domination spell. Way more reliable in the long run, since you can buy the spellbook from the spell writer. Expensive to cast though.

I've been training the spell here and there whenever I find a book, and if I really want a pet I always carry a monsterball with me.

Like I said, the spell writer in the mages guild sells Domination, as long as you've read at least one book of it.

Most expensive, but also easiest to train. It only takes a couple casts to go up a level with high potential, and you can safely cast it at vendors in towns because they are immune.

I'm not too worried about it just yet. Once monsterballs start becoming a pain to use I'll start buying books for some more dedicated leveling.

Just make sure you always keep spell stock. You gain potential in spells you have stock of when you sleep, no stock no potential. Also make sure you cast some when you hit 400% or at least buy shaman training. No reason to waste that potential.

Can I use two different Yacatect's gem stone of god medal to gain twice the PP every month?

I don't think so. The monthly allowence is actually on a different cooldown than the gem itself, so I doubt being able to use the gem more often would help with that.

fug. Makes sense when you think about it though.

Whats a good way to raise my pet's affection without engagement gear?

let it kill things. Go to the puppy cave with just that pet if you have to, level of the things it kills doesn't matter, just killing blows

Let it kill foes.
To raise stat below you need to order it to not pick stuff from floor.

You can also throw blessed Love Potions at it to raise subjugation, but that entire stat is made generally irrelevant by the tamers whip, unless you want to try raping your pet.

Now how do i grind my pet's level? Do i just buy slaves and gene engineer them until i can't find any other slaves with high enough level?

teach it a lot of skills and then train those skills
feed it blessed potions of descent
dominate high level enemies and gene engineer it with them

I knew i had to do this shit.

Yeah that's the best way to train their level. Of course level only impacts HP/MP, but I guess that's kind of big.

Otherwise they gain levels the same way you do, which will probably be even slower than you. Pets gain attributes easily, but they don't use quite as many skills quite as much.

Ah, good to know.

Additionally, pets will gain stat levels from a gene-spliced monster if its level and stats were higher than the pets. No clue if potential is a factor in the amount gained, but it will never result in stats higher than the gene-spliced monster's.

So I just noticed that harvest time quests started paying 2 platinum for me.
What is this based on?

Random chance m9y

No idea, but plat rewards continue to go up. I think the most I've gotten so far from a single quest is 8 or 9.

Obviously it's fame related in some way, with a random variable.

Fug.

How do I start doing shit?
I got through the tutorial on my second try and I kind of get how the game works, but the first quest I took killed me and my little girl. Should I grind around on the road a bit or what?

Also, I plan on going full explosion mage. Wizard is the way, right?

That would be the Meteor spell. I don't recommend doing that to yourself, it kills you too, and it's hard to get stocks for.

do some low level hunting quests and get enough platinum to buy gardening in yowyn and do the harvest time quests
Do some runs through the puppy dungeon to accumulate rods and spellbooks. Also pick up any scrolls of oracle you see to sell them. The first few hours are standard as any roguelike. You gather stuff and you identify it and then keep the useful stuff while selling the useless one.
You want to get Magic device up to 30 to gain dupli-cane which is a very valuable ability for any character.

Get equipment on all your slots and for your pets too.
Grind skills levels from using them and get better stats from eating food.
What quest were you doing?
Better get good melee and/or ranged first.
Spellstocks are hard to get early game.

Alternatively, if you just want to watch the brilliant blood red roses bloom, you could just buy a nuke.

Ye'. Save every white book you find to read later with some literacy skill levels under your belt.
You don't need to grind really, it just slows the game down to a halt. Instead, go ahead and head to Yowyn. It'll be a town across a bridge on an island east-south-east of Vernis. Once there, read the job board and grab the farmhand quests. There's food on the land, money to make, platinum to trade in for skill potential, and low level monsters for your little girl to smack once you get the money to revive her.
It should only cost about 300 gold to revive your little girl too. You'll need to go north from Yowyn to a city called Palmia in order to do so. Look for a "bartender", south of the blacksmith shop in that city.
meteor is best spell all hail cthuga keeper of destruction gate of renewal

Ignore the first quest for a while, just grind up your little girl until she can reliably escort you. Do some gardening quests for money and plats and get train new skills.

Worth it
I AM BECOME DEATH, EXPLODER OF WORLDS

Alright, thanks.
I didn't know you could revive people, I was about to trash another save.

Some "kill 10 monsters around town" quest.
I spawned with a shitty whip, so I was using the tutorial bow.
The first four were really easy, but then came a fifth one with a fuck load of health and killed both of us.

Wouldn't a gunslinger class be better with a nuke?

That happens, start with gardening quests first, they have weak monsters for your little girl to kill while you garden.
Did you make sure to take the shield away from the little girl? Heavy weapons give damage boosts if it's the only weapon equipped and most of the time the little girl is given both a heavy weapon and a shield.

What are the ways to raise your Life stat?

Specifically for pets; what's better in the long run, shield or two hand? Also I'm aware that martial arts is supposedly one of the highest damage dealing skills late game, does that also apply to pets?
I gotta start thinking of what pets I want to have with me later on so they can be trained properly.

Hero cheese. Also eating little sisters, but you really don't want to go down that road.

In the long run, martial arts. otherwise probably not shield

You can get hero cheese from a couple quests that increase life by 3 if you eat it, and then do the little sister quest to get more after that.

That depends, if they have dual wield or not.
Martial art is most powerful on very high level, but its accuracy sucks.

The idea was to have one pet with martial arts, and another with either two hand or a shield. I guess the biggest question I have now is out of dual wield, two hand and shield which generally performs the best on a pet?

Late game. Early on you can equip claws in every slot and probably have better accuracy and damage than most weapon. You lose the ability to proc more than I think 4 extra attacks, but you probably don't have that ability to begin with so who cares?

For some reason now everytime i open Elona Extender the game gives me this pop up, and then this other window regardless of what i pick.
Whats this?

Dice Oniichan, tonto

So it doesnt do anything, just a cute thing that is just there

How different is Overdose compared to Essential mode?
I'm kind of interested in starting the game on that mode but I figured I might as well ask if I'll deprive myself of any gameplay experience when playing that mode.

is there any way to teach a pet a skill without gene engineering? I want to keep my pet pure by not putting body parts in her, but I also want her to make breakfast for me when I wake up

It's written on help screen, when you choose game mode.

I mean, I know that it has 20x EXP, so I suppose that will make grinding a lot easier, like grinding skills and spells and stuffs.
What I mean to ask is, is there enough content to warrant ample play time even when on that mode? Because I haven't played many roguelikes and on the ones I have, their "cheat mode" makes the game absolutely boring and makes me drop it after the 25th hour or so because there's nothing to do but go to dungeon, spam some moves, go to the next one, rinse and repeat.
I'd play on the "normal" mode but I hate grinding if it involves doing the same action on the same tile for hours. I'm perfectly fine with having to run around doing errands for it though, like having to run around from town to town to deliver trade packs in order to level up Trading skill.

Not ALL gene engineering forces body parts on the subject. The gene engineering screen tells you if it will inherit body parts too or only skills.
I think only creatures that already have extra body parts grant those to others (Asura with many arms or horses for extra legs)

It only denies access to making a gene.
New game+ with new character. It doesn't mean much though

To follow up on this: If the donor isn't human, and has more body parts than the recipient, it will add one extra body part, IE more arms would add an arm, more legs would add a leg. If the donor is a human, it will only donate if it had extra limbs than normal, either through gene engineering or if it's a mutant.

That's correct, at that point you gain more cast rate from the increased spell level than you lose from the cast mod increase from Wish.

I want to go full out Necromancer Lich. Where do I find a Pot for Fusion in order to make Coffins of Necromancy?

Just go to any dungeon.
I received it from Puppy cave and other tools too.

Goods vendors and in random dungeons

how do i even use the coffin? i know theres a coffin in the graveyeard and shit but never figure out how use it

There is one thing in graveyard, which give your PC necroforce needed to use coffins.
I forgot what was that though.

just saw this and knew the name from somewhere….
how this game doesn't have H?

You also need the DD key, it acts as the container. Check the wiki, they may have some info one how to negromance

It DOES have H, but it's text mainly.
You can make NPCs drunk, then fuck them for gold and affection.
Give the D to your pets with consent or without it.
There are H images with Elona characters around too.

I wanna start a shop, any tips before I get started?

I dunno if you've all tried making chocolates as a gift yet, but I just used the kit and I had to share the options.

I would like to know this as well

To be honest the correct answers are pretty obvious

Set as blacksmith and sell the extra gear you pick up in dungeons, resell anything that you get from your shop safe when the shopkeeper trades instead of sells, you might find some nice gear for yourself/pets too.
It doesn't really matter who you run as shopkeeper, cause they'll all get their charisma and negotiation really high running the shop, occasionally go back to top up their potential with bronze coins when it goes into Hopeless (you get a message when their Charisma and/or Negotiation increases, as well as its potential, every time they sell a batch of stuff) so you can put whoever you think would make the cutest shopkeeper.
Soon you'll be rolling in cash.

1. Make sure whatever you have as a shopkeeper has Negotiation.
2. It doesn't need to be super great Negotiation as long as you have
3. Bronze coins. You're going to need a lot of these to keep your shopkeeper's potentials up so they can become proficient in the art of the Happy Merchant
4. Set the store to a specialty, depending on what you want to sell. Blacksmith (equipment) and Food (duh) are popular choices. Whatever you choose gets a bonus to sell price, although you can sell anything in your shop.
5. Sell shit by dropping it on the ground. You can't sell furniture, so decorating is fine.

oh yeah, like said, they need to at least have negotiation, if your pet doesn't have it you can gene edit it onto them using a Public Performer from the slave trader in derphy, or a number of mobs

dominate a thief guild member and use it as a shopkeeper.
I managed to nab one with 40 magic device and a monster heart at level 26. Took me 3 tries so you'll want to have extra rods of domination.
If you want selling fodder then panties are amazing. They sell for a fuckload and are easy to make as long as you have the skill for them. Set your shop type to blacksmith because the normal shop has a 1/8 chance to not sell anything to a customer on top of having no multiplier.

I bought a Juere Swordsman just to be my shopkeeper. Is it safe to say that upgrading my Happy Merchant's potentials is probably the best use for bronze coins? I very rarely haul cargo unless I shit stomp a rogue boss and steal the cargo they were carrying so extra cargo space doesn't mean much to me.

Also, just to be clear, if I make my shop a Blacksmith I can still sell non-equipment items in it, it's just that those items that aren't equipment won't get a the extra sell bonus right?

I dunno, user. Some people might be tempted by option 'e' on the third image. Of course, option 'b' there might lead to a nice line.

The other uses for bronze coins are for 2000 turn stat growth buffs at inns, which only costs 1 coin each time, an cart weight, and I never really bothered with cargo.
So yeah, shopkeeping is the primary use.

Depending on their negotiation, shopkeepers can sell items for up to 36% of the item's value. The player can never get more than 30%.
With the shop type bonus, the shopkeeper gets up to 43.2% of the item's value.
So as long as your shopkeeper has at least as much Negotiation as you do, or you're both "capped" and more negotiation doesn't matter because you're both getting max sell price anyway, it's always better to sell items in the shop than to vendor them yourself.

...

Good info

So what all of those do?
According to the wiki choosing the "left over materials" in the 3rd image creates a truffe chocolate wisp, but I can't find anything else.

so whats the quick rundown for newfag players like me?
is custom improved version recommended?

Get plus, then get custom. Custom is bretty gud

Thank fuck I found a kitty bank. It's only a 500g one but I'm storing like 100,000 in there. Seriously, fuck the thief random event. It just completely fucks over any progress you may have made

get luck
also 25000 isn't a lot.

You can also get AoE spells that surround you. Fire Ball for example causes an explosion of fire around you in a radius and DOESN'T damage you. It's not a huge, massive "fuck everything" radius but it's enough to kill a decent amount of monsters. Combine it with something like Shadow Step, which teleports you up to an enemy and instantly attacks it with your melee weapon, and watch everything fucking die by jumping into a group and casting a bunch of -ball spells. Shit's great.

25k is change fam
if you want the big money you have to do the trade routes

25,000 is ez to make. Don't stress it; also losing that bit of money isn't really ruining progress. Your main progress is leveling up so you can do crazier shit, and by leveling up, better ways to make money will open themselves up to you and you'll stop dying all of the time and losing what you have. Elona will kick your shit in at first if you don't know what to do, but keep at it and you'll be the one kicking the shit into the game; it's like a virtual battle for dominance.

Just get Control Magic, so that your pets and won't be damaged/die to these.

Yeah, this. I still gotta pick that one up.

I have no clue, I just found them hilarious. I'm assuming it has various effects on the outcome, like you found on the wiki.

...

...

I don't understand, why get one then the other better one?
any reason not to go straight into custom?

Autism.
Shit internet.
Pure laziness.

What? No. Custom is a mod for Elonaplus; you download it and drag and drop it into your Elona folder, and run it via the ElonaC launcher.

Custom is an add-on
Its goes like this:
Elona is the original game, Noa was the developer and she/he ceased development years ago but released the source code to anyone that asked.
Elona+ is a branch from this and the most popular one. 100% being worked on by japs, it still gets 99% translated to english, and it adds a lot of content such as 2 or 3 more acts to the story, an entire fucking continent, a lot more enemies, spells, skills mechanic in generals, and balancing.
Custom is an EN add-on made by some members of the wikia, mainly someone called AnnaBanana but she stepped out for a while and passed it onto other people to mantain it. Custom mostly adds a thing that lets you customize the AI of your pets, and it "fixes" the cutscenes. Basically there are small cutscenes with text supposed to play at certain points of the story, but if you are playing with the english language selected they just dont play, because those werent translated. It adds other things but those 2 are the most important ones.

Custom is an add-on to E+, it won't work without the base game.
Mostly it's recommended because it makes the story actually in the game the story cutscenes are outright disabled for English usually as well as a better translation, and also allows you to make pets smarter.

I just told my reasons for this.
I should go download it before my internet will brick itself again.

Prayed at 1550+ but my party was full, tried twice since then. Am I not getting that god pet?

Just get more CHA or dump one of your pets to dojo.

Dude, I got the party slot now, I checked.

Then you did hit your godpets limit.
It's Faith Level/10 = number of godpets
Min. number of godpets is 2.

Every time you pray you lose 15% of your favor.
Also your god gives a unique message once when they're ready to hand out a reward.

I have 30 faith, 0 godpets
prayed at 1550 every try
Got 19 cha, 2 pets in party, just checked again and could summon a third pet with ally scroll

Does the Maintains charisma item stat prevent me from raising charisma by eating putit while wearing it? If so, do I just take it off, eat and put it back again? I keep eating but my stat wont advance. No mutation or disease affecting me, no negative equipment or anything

Maintains prevents your stats from dropping as a result of sick or other similar effects, it doesn't stop you from gaining stats.

Eating Putit simply adds a certain amount of experience to the stat, which is multiplied by your potential. The amount of exp you need is dependant on your stats level. If your potential is low or your stat level is high, you will need to eat several to gain one point.

Gather more favor and put one of your pets away to/ get 20 Cha.
Do second part. If you still have that third pet.

No.
You don't need to do this.
What about your stat potential?
Superb>Great>Good>Bad>Hopeless

No, it doesn't prevent you.

What happens if you eat putit, is you get 500 charisma XP multiplied by your charisma potential and divided by a variable based on your charisma stat.

High charisma and low potential means you need more effort to raise your stat.

That is a incredibly cute SJIS, I must have it.

My potential is superb and I've eaten 4 putits so far I think, couldnt advance past level 9 charisma. I guess I need 5 putits

There was a popup the first time that said your party is full. I can't remember how it's worded, but one response will delay/cancel the gift until you pray again, the other will skip it. It sounds like you picked the skip it response, meaning now you can't get that particular god pet.

Even if he DID do that, he can get the pet by switching to a different god, switching back, then regaining the favor.

Actually sorry, putit is 150 CHR xp and the forumla is XP = (EXPGained * Potential / (100 + SkillLevel * 10) ) * (1+ (growth bonus/100)).

1000 XP per level.

Overall there are way better ways to get charisma than eating putit. For example investing gives 600 XP per use (12000 for invest 50), and herbed food gives 800.

It was yes/no, I picked "yes" because it was the default one.
First I get fucked by -10CHA mutation on a golem warrior and now this shit. This weeb ADOM clone keeps fucking me in the ass.

Actually shit, Invest only gives 300 CHR xp, 600 is the investing XP and that gets cut in half for charisma. Different modifiers for different skills.

That's still 6000 CHA experience for Invest 50.
Which is also why Charisma is the easiest attribute to level bar none.

Cure mutation potions are rather easy to buy/find/make them with alchemy though.
It could take a little time though.

Maybe, but I've only found 1 during 60 hours. Seems to me it's easier to get ALL the mutations and have them cancel each other out to never be bothered by it. Does it work like that? I kinda like cannibalism one though, would suck losing that.

Cannibalism is considered a "good" mutation, so potions of evolution shouldn't remove it.

I think blessed potions of cure mutations cure ONLY negative mutations, so you could try blessing one.
If you get a wish, you can try to get potions of evolution, which are potions that give you several positive mutations at random.

You still can lose positive mutations and gained resists to creepy dreams.
These happen rather often. One per 2-3 months in game.

laughing_littlesisters.bmp

...

Creepy dreams don't give one hot damn about your curse resistance.
Only cat can save you.

They DO help against random curses and dooms, but not against mutations and losing resists.

So I assigned my wing snail as the breeder at my ranch. I though that the shades would be spawned imitating some other monster/npc but they're all just the regular shade sprite. Am I doing something wrong here?

Shades look like shades even when imitating.

Oh? So how do I tell what they're imitating?

Just wait, until they drop eggs and milk.
They will name monster they transform into.

Cool, thanks

Alright lads, I wanna start looking into expanding my party. Which pets have the cutest flavor text?

anything but ghost(she's a slut)

...

i'm assuming this gives me training in a skill i don't have yet
cooking's a good choice so i don't have to buy it, right?

Son of a bitch I'm over 100 hours in and that's the only god statue I'm still missing.

Actually I'd suggest one of the Guild-exclusive skills.
You can't easily pick those up like the others.

You can write your own lines for pets. Go with who or whatever you want.

Congratulations.

I got it in 30 hours, all books of Rachel in fucking Puppy Cave and 4 Happy beds from cupids.
I can't keep my resists high for very long though.

She's fairly good when you pick her up, but other pets are much better in the long run. She has lower Life than a god pet (80 vs 90) and NO special abilities. She does have a ranged AI and probably a fairly high level/stats.

I recommend using her as a temporary pet now while she's useful, and upgrading to something more long term when it becomes available and you have to means to properly train a new pet.

Just walk up to them and use the Squeeze ability, that'll spawn milk of whatever it's imitating.

is this game of thrones with more anime?

It's a shame that most of the end-game text is still untranslated. I actually followed the story up to that point but now I've "finished" the campaign and have no idea how it actually ends.

It's like skyrim with lolis.
It's the citizen kane of Roguelikes.
It is true good.

Which Act you mean?

Fuck I said good not good. Fucking wordfilters.

Wat

No, its actually good.

What does Rachel books do?

Act 3. The last set of floors in the Cradle of Chaos and everything after it.

ki-no wordfilters into good

collect 1-4 for a quest

Act III isn't finished yet.

You collect 4 of them for side quest given by emo wizard in Lumiest.

I see that someone was getting tired of Holla Forums.

I've never posted there, I just know the meme.

I was just laughing at this wordfilter.

Really makes you (((think)))

What level would one probably complete act 2 by? I'm level 60 and the first few floors of Rhemido are a bit of a struggle especially if a shows up. Does fighting higher level enemies give more efficient xp? If so I could probably level up quickly if I toe the line and do danger level 80 dungeons.

Level is mostly irrelevant (though extra HP can help). What generally matters are your combat skills and equipment, and that of your pets. I'm level 79 myself and just breezed through all of act 3's main quest, but I have some fucking great pets and good equipment. I can walk through a level 300 dungeon with little problem, though I don't think I'd want to awaken one yet (~200 awoken was pretty tough a little while ago).

It seems that unlike all other potentials, a Pets Speed potential (and probably luck, but nothing really trains that anyway) does NOT increase when they spend gold in town. The only effective ways of raising a pets Speed Potential are to use a potion of Speed Upper on them (raises speed by 1 and sets potential to 400%), or to use a large picnic basket, which raises all of the potentials of all of your pets and yourself, including luck and speed, by whatever the + value is (dependent on rank of the foods you put in it, all rank 9s gives +12).

This is worth doing because herbed food trains Speed, so if you are feeding your pet regularly you are going to want to raise that potential somehow to keep taking advantage of the speed increase.

What's good?

Nuking random cities for shits and giggles.
Casting Meteor in performance quests.
Setting multiple fires in forest dungeons.
Using Ragnarok to grind combat skills levels.
Choking adventurers with mochi to steal their gear.
Fighting off rogues cosplaying as pirates on road.
Attacking wandering merchants for their gear that costs way too much.

kino?

What is this meme i keep hearing about?

Doesn't that expose you to etherwind?

Pot for Fusion recipie "herb in". Combine one food with 1 Stomafillia, 1 Curaria, and 1 rare herb (morgia, alarunia, spenseweed, or mareilon). The resulting food adds I believe 800 exp to all 8 attributes AND speed (not sure if luck).

Eating herbs by themselves trains your attributes as well, but the herbed food is much more efficient overall.

That basically makes herbed food the single best way to train your base attributes.

What's more, you can share meals with pets provided the food is at least tier 5 cooked, the pet is hungry and has a high enough relationship with you (fellow I think). Sharing a meal duplicates the attribute experience, so you basically get 2 for 1 that way. Pets also gain I think 16x attribute experience from food, so giving them herbed food trains their attributes REALLY quickly. Not uncommon for them to go up multiple levels in all stats for a single food.

Gonna try that when i get those herbs. Thanks.

Trying this game for the first time without looking at anything because fuck yeah discovery. Wish me luck

You will get fucked up and you won't even understand how that happened.

By moment you get one, you should have ~50 potion of cure corruption already.

F

Wait, so which rare herb that I use doesn't matter? I've been picking them thinking like dishes with morgia train STR and CON and dishes with mareilon train MAG and WIL.
Fuck.

Eating the rare herb by itself trains those two attributes by 1000 (also all others by 10, but that's tiny)

Putting it in food trains all attributes including speed. I've heard 800 each which would be slightly less, but it's still way more overall.

How do I get the rare herbs? My herb farm only shits out stomafilia and curaria.

Well they are rare for a reason. They DO come from herb farms, but I'd estimate it's about 1 in 20.

Make a farm with nothing but herbs

Well shit. Lesson number one. Don't pickpocket the tutorial priestess. it was just a prank bro

I wish stocking on herb seeds was easy.

It's just grinding them in harvest quests in Yowyn, worshiping Kumiromi for his god pet and getting multiple Kumiromi statues from little sister quests.

Thankfully elona doesn't have permadeath unless you pick it on death screen.
Just don't die too often. Especially from level 6 or higher.

Keep in mind, the statue and pet generate seeds based on the day. The statue gives you herbs if the day has a 3, 6 or 9 in it. The pet only works on 3s and 9s.

You can get multiple cute fairies by breeding on a ranch, so you could fill your party with cute fairies on day 29 of the month, stuff their inventories full of high-satiation food, and farm seeds for 2 days straight.

I picked permadeath. Thiefguy lasted 10 seconds. Heroelf made it to a town so far.

Where are you getting this information from?

The wiki, also personal testing.

There's exactly one source of info for elona besides just playing the game.

that's not true

I can't find anything about the Cute Fairy seed drops being day based.

The wiki was what I was talking about, and this thread mainly gets info from playing and the wiki. Same with /jp/.

Posting best god

It was mentioned on the Statue of Kumiromi page, in the comments, the following is copy pasted from there:

If the day has a 3, 6, or 9 in it (3, 5, 9, 13, 16, 19, 23, 26, 29, 30), you get an herb seed. Otherwise, you get a fruit seed.

If the day has a 3 or 9 in it (3, 9, 13, 19, 23, 29, 30), you get an artifact seed. Otherwise, you get a vegetable seed.

You get an unknown seed regardless of the day.

For cute fairies…

If the day has 3, 6, or 9 in it, you get a magical seed. Otherwise, you get a fruit seed.

If the dya has 3 or 9 in it, you get an herb seed. Otherwise, you get a gem seed.

You get a vegetable seed regardless of the day.

I know.
Cute fairy has very low breeding power though.

I wonder (((who))) is behind this post.jpg

You are very brave, user.

Where did you get this from?
My cute fairy gives out 3-5 random seeds every time I feed her after waking up.

First offspring is guaranteed within 30 days, regardless of breed power. Just make sure to remove it so you can keep getting more

...

So far so food. I've defeated a monster, spoken to some people, bought a cloak for the rain and some hot noodles, but suddenly the Z and X keys stopped working. So far it feels very comfy. I still have to learn how to impress or attract random strangers.
It's like a pretty dwarf fortress for now.

Doesn't matter about attracting/impressing strangers, that increases linearly with Charisma. It'll just go down if you have low charisma for now, but get up to like 25-30 and you'll get general increases.

How do I get rid of those two trees on the farm that obscure vision on the two bottom fertile field spots, and do I need all those scarecrows taking up fertile field spots or can I remove them for more spots?

Literally pick them up and drop them somewhere else
They aren't taking any spots. You don't need them either.

Because it is.
Plus some hilarious stuff, crazy sidequests and rewards for antisocial behaviours.

You need bardish and skill to cut down trees.
Scarecrows are meant to repel monsters, which sometimes appear when your gardening skill gets high. Just surround your field with them.

Wait, does this mean I can get multiple platinum-laying goose for ez grinds?

...

I need to git gud.

it's not random.

She appears to drop seeds once per sleep (per fairy) on the first feeding. I've only tested with bread based foods so far. On 23/3 all 3 fairys dropped 2 veg, 1 magic 1 herb. On day 25/3 all three dropped 2 veg, 2 fruit, 2 gem. Seeing as this perfectly matches what has been said on the wiki (with the exception of the number of seeds), I'm not going to bother testing this further.

The wiki says nothing about Cute Fairy drops being day dependent.

in the comments on this page
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Statue_of_Kumiromi

You have my attention. Please explain further.

Oh that's just perfect. You notice the user responsible for that comment? AnnaBannana. You might recognize that name from the developer of elona custom

Yes.
Your godpet limit and max pets limit by CHA still apply.

I was just joking.
Majority of gods in Elona are batshit insane though.

Now just make character without perma mode to git gud or click ? to learn all controls and for in-game help.

Just go to wiki.

huh the more you know

That's why she's the best.
Only god who really cares about you, and isn't a massive tool.
She's just a big sis who wants to help you out.

You don't really need to make them your pets to feed them and collect platinum

She's just a big sis who wants to help you out… for a fee.

Godpet limit ONLY applies to receiving pets from gods. Once you have all 8 god pets you can safely breed an army of geese or cute fairies without ever worrying about that limit again. Number in active party still applies, but you could cycle through them at a discarded ranch all day.

I forgot about that feed from pot of fusion.

Fact.

>go to Vernis, pick my pet a cat, do my first task of getting rid of thieves

>wander around, manage to prostitute myself to some drunk lady in Embassy only got 200

It's been interesting experience to say the least. Any tips for newfags? I got myself deed for farm since my coin pouch was getting huge and I have bunch of seeds, and gardening is in skill level 5

Good choice.
Learn all skills.
Join guild to do above. They have specific skills, which you won't get otherwise.
Pick your god to worship.
Recommended gods for new people are Yacatect, Kumiromi or Lulwy, but you will want to have all gods gifts anyway.
If you get wish, use wiki to decide.
But don't waste it on happy bed. It isn't that rare.

I remember my first successful character, I somehow broke something somewhere, and so had one spell I got early on that basically let me oneshot most things I saw for a long while.
No idea how it happened, or why.
Tragically, said one-shot spell was trash against massive swarms of bandits.

holy shit this actually works

Doubt you broke anything. Probably just got a bunch of spell stock early and trained that one spell by using it all the time until it was a ridiculously high level compared to what you were fighting. Spell damage scales pretty quickly.

You can even steal them wilderness, if your weight lifting skill is high enough.

Was it Magic Dart, or Crystal Spear?

Sadly, I don't remember. I think it was some kind of electric type thing, though.
Was nice. Until that point, most my guys I made died rather quickly.

>If the day has a 3, 6, or 9 in it (3, 5, 9, 13, 16, 19, 23, 26, …
anna probably meant to type 6 instead of 5?

It probably was Lightning bolt.
Most powerful of Jrpg standard three element bolts.
Mainly, thanks to wet status and useful for not breaking pets equipment.

Cold actually does more damage to Wet targets than lightning. Only breaks potions.

also, it was probably nerve arrow, which looks and sounds like lightning.

Oh.

Afraid I don't remember it clearly enough to say.
It was certainly my fastest climb in a playthrough, in any case.
Doing any kind of physical stuff seems to just take absolutely forever.

Buggy and unbalanced

xD

but user, that's what makes it fun!

K.

what's the best way to make your equipment better? I have a gryffonscale robe that's pretty nice (+40 or something DV) but im not sure if making it into a superior material will actually be better. im not really clear on how the enchant scrolls works.

If its not artifact then pay the blacksmiths to get to +10.
If its an artifact then farm hermit crabs for stardust.

You can +10 artifacts at blacksmiths. Stardust is for going to +15

Also, the fastest way to farm Stardust is to do Party Time quests. Cast Oracle when the quest starts. The tutorial NPCs always drop their weapons, beggars randomly spawn with the beggars pendant, and nobles sometimes spawn with shenas panty, but that one's too rare to farm reliably. All of them are easy to kill and Oracle will tell you if any of it is spawned, otherwise just finish the quest as normal.

Wtf is that even?
I always hoard scrolls of oracle and use them as trading coin for adventurers.

It reveals artifacts.

Oracle prints a list of all the artifacts that have been generated since the last time you cast oracle and where they were generated at. Not very useful in dungeons since most artifacts generate on drop anyway and you should be checking the floor, but it will basically tell you what to look for in Party Time.

Nah. Tough guy way or no way.
So far the third character is doing relatively well. I've hunted down a few animals, ran away from an ambush, bought some expensive dishes, had a nice dream and then I lost all my money due to pickpockets.
breddy gud. I'm starting to fall for this game.

Its not like farming stardust is difficult.

Nigga Elona isn't like a conventional roguelike. Its longer than most.

Also, in custom, you can make so you get a prompt to individually collect every dropped, non-pickpocketable item dropped on the map when the quest ends.

I don't like perma since the game is so long and has lots of thing to invest into for long term returns.
Be sure to make genes with your wives on each life so you can get those heirlooms.

Is there any way to improve an item's material, something like inferior material does? I have a really good ring and seven leagues boots on raw material and I dont want to eat them by accident

Actually do. They usually have some pretty good jewelry starting out, and jewelry is easy to steal.

scroll of superior material.

I"ve always wished this game had an option to mark items as favorites, so you couldn't drop, sell, consume(unless it's scrolls, potions or food), trade or give them to randoms.
But yeah, there's scrolls of different material, and material boxes.
Maybe blessed inferior material scrolls actually make the items better, but I'm not sure.

All Oracle scrolls do is copy the art.log file in your save to the message log. You can get the same effect by just opening up Charname_sav/art.log whenever you enter a Party Time quest, without wasting a scroll.

blessed scrolls of change material also work

You just answered your own question.
There is scroll of superior material too and material kits for getting non-random material change.
Rare and more powerful material kits are more hard to get.

But thats cheating, user!

Not reliably

Alternatively do the trick with the Opatos relic, cute fairy, shelter and lots of bread.

Before planting stuff on your farm, get to level 20 or so effective gardening through harvest time quests.

You actually can mark equipment to not be eaten.

"reliably" isn't a part of the issue anymore. Material scrolls all cycle through materials in a set order now.

Unblessed: paper->cloth->silk->mica -> raw -> leather-> glass-> scale->coral->bronze->iron->bone->paper
Blessed: Same as unblessed.
Cursed: Same as unblessed.

Unblessed: zylon->obsidian->chrome->metal->steel->chain->silver->platinum->gold->perl->griffon scale-> zylon
Blessed: zylon->obsidian->chrome->metal->steel->chain->silver->platinum->gold->perl->griffon scale->dragon scale->adamantium-> zylon
Cursed: Same as unblessed.

Unblessed: dawn cloth-> spirit cloth-> dragon scale-> crystal-> titanium ->mithril-> adamantium-> emerald -> diamond -> dawn cloth
Blessed: dawn cloth-> spirit cloth-> dragon scale-> crystal-> titanium ->mithril-> adamantium-> emerald -> diamond -> rubynus->ether-> dawn cloth
Cursed: Same as unblessed.

I want to point out that Griffon Scale is actually possibly the best armor material for DV/PV, despite only being a mid-tier option. Using (blessed) change material scrolls to get adamantium first will also save you a lot of Superior scrolls if you want something like Rubynus which is the best all-around material.

Doesn't work, since Fairies only give seeds once per time the player sleeps, and only give herb seeds on certain days. The tricks busted.

cursed inferiors turn whatever item you're inferior-ing into raw, and the others just drop them down a level.

Thanks for telling how.

When did these changes happen?

ooh, thanks for the tip.

This is absolutely not true. Easily tested, Cursed scrolls still use the exact same pattern as unblessed scrolls. Tested: Glass became Scale when using a Cursed Inferior scroll, Chrome became Metal with Cursed Change, and Metal became Paper with Cursed Inferior.

1.67

Bring up your inventory with X (capital), and then tag the item with *

As I mentioned, Griffon Scale is probably the best (the spreadsheet I use has not proven to be 100% reliable).

If you want to improve the item further, find a Craft Repair Kit. You can probably buy some from Moyer the Crooked in Noyel. DON'T invest too much in his shop, craft repair kits are frequently replaced by other items at high shop levels. ~100ish should be fine though (1000 is very bad).

A craft repair kit will set all DV/PV/Damage and hit values to the maximum allowed for the item type, material, and rarity. Those numbers are normally random, so your equipment is almost always lower than the material could be.

Here's the spreadsheet. It's probably slightly outdated, as I've found some of the information to be wrong, but it's still more useful than not.

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13x1Si6M6w_SB9ucf2FMBq4ahhkM-UfBozQ4SZqWzfOQ/edit#gid=1952869058

fucking BREAD

I know this is a pleb question but what are some good graphics mod? Mods that add more portraits, clothes and stuff.

You add them yourself.

You just changed some NPC sprite.

Wtf, are you using a sprite pack?
What monster is that actually?

Wait, it's true monster.
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Spirit_of_bread

BREAD

look to elonaup and the wiki's character customization guide in the comments
PCCs are 128x192, portraits 80x112, solo sprites 38x whatever the fuck I can't remember, it's in the guide on the page.
Use GIMP for editing otherwise you're gonna have a bad time. You can do everything like cropping from PNGs with just the rectangle tool.
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:18329

...

The final stage of the incurable illness known as "france".

Doesn't she start with Improved Character Quality? Check the AP wiki page if you don't know what that is

I bet the frogs are responsible for this.

baguette baguette croissant du fromage

Well, Gryphon Scale is the best middle ground armor. If you have some piece of armor that prioritizes one defense over the other (e.g. Plate Mail, Wing, Armored Boots) you'll be effectively wasting half of its defense bonus because the bonus for each defense type is proportional to the base value.
Also, Gryphon Scale is only a single point better than Rubynus, which has a much-coveted life bonus (though it's definitely more costly to reach.)

Shit. I missed a golden chance.

Before I fuck up, mana burst does not hurt pets right?

That is really good if it's legit, I have a huge pile of inferior material scrolls

Nope.
Nukes your mana pool though.

Right now that's not a problem

That felt good

Consider looking into the Magical Plants feat once you get into the Gardening skill.

T-thanks.

At least you didn't get rekt by fucking putits with first character you did ever made which also was a lich.

you need teleport spells or line AoE. Otherwise get fucked by 6 ranged weapons and the boss tank.

Perfect timing. Can I go full lich king in this game?

Yes. It is recommended strategy for final boss in Act I

What's the juicer trick again?

Unlike ADOM you can't control your teleports.

Obsolete. Herbed food is the new hotness.

You might fumble your cast, but so long as it succeeds you should be fine, right?

juice has the stats of fruit but since it's a liquid, you can drink it while full or anorexic with no consequences.

It is nice but I wouldn't rely on it.

By the way, is the personality thing just for roleplay? The part of
"You hate bugs" or "you misunderstand others"
I've noticed no change from one character to another.

The stat gain from juice is too minor to be worthwhile and since it also fills you up you will not be able to eat herbed food unless you wanna risk anorexia.

Yes.

That's good. Leanna the pumped one sounds quite horrible for a hero.

I realize that. I just keep a stockpile around in case I develop anorexia from other means, and was explaining it to the other user.

Is there any other way to get it?

You get from vomit too much.
Eating too much, drinking too much alcohol and eating cursed foods.

*get it
*vomiting
I really should spellcheck before posting.

If you drink potions at bloated you sometimes vomit and since I tend to run around Bloated this happens fairly often.

Usually not enough to cause anorexia but accidents happen.

Also yeah, sometimes I eat corpses for resistances and they end up cursed, or I intentionally eat cursed food so I can get through my perishable food faster.

Eating those yourself is a bad idea. Feed them to your pets.

Nah, eventually all your pets get resistances and it becomes worth eating them yourself.

Also your pets don't eat cursed food.

One step forward to world domination.
That's really neat.

Ether mutations can get really out there and have more extreme effects, but unfortunately it's much harder to keep ones you want.

As long as you can remove the unwanted ones it's cool.

The problem is cure corruption potions always remove at least the two most recent ether mutations, so you'll have to get a second unwanted mutation before you can remove the first without losing earlier wanted ones.
I suppose you could use cursed cure corruption potions to add a mutation before curing, but that's more costly.

At extremely high levels, this could be a massive perception boost if there's no limit to its effect.
If this applies past the base attribute cap the best endgame ranged setup may be to be a goddamn furry.

Best thing is that you can't get this kind of skill even if you don't have the slot. I've like 3 ether diseases which are 100% beneficial because my char lacks back, ears and something else I forgot.

kek

I'm still a wimp, but that was pretty cool.

Just came across this
>elona.wikia.com/wiki/Spaghetti_monster

Was that a dog pet?
Little Girl has equipment slots which means she's the best character at the start of the game.

PSA, When starting out go to Derphy immediately and sell your little girl for the one the Slave Master sells, same thing but slightly better stats.

...

Lvl 1 little girl is better late game due to lower INI though.

Hooves for feat is the only other purely-beneficial one that takes a slot. Thick neck takes a slot and reduces your charisma, but massively improves PV.

Ether mutations are great at low levels when you don't have very good equipment, and potentially good at EXTREME levels where even artifact fusion can't keep up with the leveled bonus. Unless you are a snail or a mutant that is.

The difference in INI is negligible for the (now) harder to obtain speed. Every little bit counts. You won't be seeing significant AP gain until Act 2 anyways.

It's only 3 speed. It's easy enough to get, and the reduced training cost more than makes up for it.

...

More like 6 speed
Disgusting

Not sure what you're referring to. Training cost refers to the amount they spend you hand them a chunk of gold to go train their potentials.

It is based on their starting stats, so low level pets are far cheaper than high level pets to keep at high potential.

I was wondering what that came from.

I think it is reduced by the pet's negotiation skill. It's reduced by SOMETHING, because the gp costs only go DOWN when the pet improves.

I think it's related to charisma.
According to the Jap wiki (machine translated):
So costs are calculated from their INI, then reduced by 5gp for every point of Charisma.
I also think that, also according to the section after this, that charisma's effect can at most cut training costs in half, and they can't go below 500gp.

Most of my pets currently cost in the 2000-2500 range. Give them 100,000 in Evochat and they can max out their potentials twice over. They are mostly god pets.

I've tried some higher level pets that cost closer to 20k. I wouldn't really worry about the difference between a level 1 and level 5 though. It's trivial, as is the difference in AP growth.

Also with low level pets, you can use gene engineering to rapidly raise their level/stats.

This is best done in small increments though, so you can keep potential high and get as many gains as possible. The slave trader is a good start, but later on you can dominate things and apply them on to your pet to boost stats. When doing so, it is worth keeping in mind the stats of the dominated monster to improve the growth of your pet.

does the type of craft repair kit matter? I've got a bronze one, do I need to turn that into griffon scale? or find a griffon scale one?

No you have a MATERIAL kit. Different item entirely. There's only one type of craft repair kit.

For some reason I can't offer anything to switch gods despite having a ton of seeds in my inventory. Do I have to use vegetables instead or what am I doing wrong?

To SWITCH gods you need to pray on it, not offer. Offering on another god's altar is for converting that altar to your current god.

T-thanks. Now I feel stupid for not having tried that.

Be aware your current god will most likely get mad at you and curse you. Its not a permanent debuff, just gotta suck it up and endure it until it wears off. I think its a small but a bit long debuff to speed, DV and PV.

Also, Kumiromi doesn't accept seeds anymore, just vegitables.

Rotten vegitables work just fine though, and edible wild plants and healthy leaves count as vegitables if you don't quite want to start a farm yet.

Well that sucks. I have a ton of fruit/vegetable seeds I don't care to plant because I'm trying to focus on growing herbs. Wild plants and healthy leaves it is.

ooh shit, thank you.

...

Just buy more farms.

Change material scrolls are pretty common, and if you invest in a magic shop it eventually regularly stocks greater material.

It takes a lot of effort to accumulate enough superior material scrolls to really do anything with them. Even with savescumming, they are still rare even at high shop levels (1 in 5 maybe). Just a pain in the ass

You can craft them, you know.

Yeah, but Generators are hard to come by in bulk too

For everyone who has had trouble keeping their attribute potentials up, there is another, faster and more reliable way than sleep and breakfast, available much earlier in the game than large quantities of Potions of Potential, and that's the Large Picnic Basket.
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Large_picnic_basket

Large Picnic Basket is a Pot for Fusion elona.wikia.com/wiki/Pot_for_fusion recipe that requires

When used (t key), the Large Picnic basket will increase the potential of ALL TEN attributes (including speed and luck) for you AND ALL of your nearby active pets by it's enhance value. The large picnic basket will fill you to Bloated, but it's worth noting that it CAN be used even if you are already at bloated to begin with, and you can therefor consume as many Large Picnic Baskets as you want at the same time.

Using a Large Picnic Basket leaves behind a Large Basket, which can be used again in fusion. Remember to pick it up off the ground when you are done. Large baskets can also be crafted in fusion by combining 3 small baskets, which can often be found on the ground in dungeons including the puppy cave.

With all tier 9 foods (sushi, melon flavored bread, steak, curry, grand parfait, omelet) the picnic basket will have an enhance value of +12. 17 of them will take you straight from Hopeless to Superb. Even if you can't get tier 9s, there's nothing stopping you from just spamming lower tier baskets.

Not once you get your pets gathering skills and regularly purchase gain material scrolls & bless stacks of them.

what, you can just craft scrolls now? how?
and what's a chaos jewel do?

Jeweler skill, need a gem cutter for it.
Chaos jewel lets you add chaos resistance to items in artifact fusion.

Gain material scrolls SUCK. You go through a stack of 150 blessed scrolls and get less than 15 generators, or anything else you actually want. Not worth the effort really.

The only decent way to farm materials is to run dungeons during nefia fever.

You get more than just generators though, and I'm already checking vendors for wonder scrolls anyway.
Dirt cheap, too.

thanks for the tip. now I have a reason to use fishing

Oh, and I'm pretty sure rotten food works just fine. All that matters is that cooking rank

They cycle through a fixed order.

Exactly, and you need like 12 for every item

Just invest in magic shops and buy them like potions of potential.
Most mid level dungeons give me 5 or so of those on fevers.

Yeah have fun visiting 60+ magic shops to upgrade one item. If that's not a lot of effort to you you are an idiot.

Literally just visit a magic shop whenever you're in town. How is that a lot of effort?

Especially since you should already be doing this for potions of potential, wonder scrolls, potions of descent, harvest/wish books, etc.

Ehekatl is the cutest

How do you follow gods?
Can I be a wandering exorcist/vampire hunter?

Head to the truce grounds and pray at the alter of the god you want to worship. As for your spoiler, there are random werewolf attacks in towns and I believe you can weed out which person in the town is the werewolf but I don't know how, you should probably consult the wiki for something like that.

At 7 Jewels you unlock the Super Form skill, make sure to pack lots of rings.

I fucking hate that your typical gaymur is this retarded with this short of an attention span, holy shit.
sorry for the blog post

Here's an advice, get a better friend.

...

so I was looking at my character sheet and I realized I have 12 AP. this is my first real character so I looked up on wiki what AP is and now I'm confused as to why I have any at all. I'm level 28 and the hardest dungeon I've cleared is level 23. the wiki says that the monsters that would give AP in north tyris would be level 50. what the fuck did I kill to get my AP? I know its useless to me atm but I'm wondering wtf was that strong because I haven't come across anything particularly hard.

Though difficulty is a bit imbalanced.
Sometimes you'd get insta-rekt by some random mob encounter.

Would someone be kind enough to post the guide for setting up the new chat server?

I don't have the images but can explain.
edit config, set serverlist to 1
delete everything in server.txt and replace it with
elochat-proxy.shiroko.yi.org%elona.squares.net%
That line is all you need inside of it, and that should be all.

You realize you can buy a new house later? All that effort gone to waste if yoy autistically resigned your cave.

I did that, now every time I open the menu I get this popup. Working as intended?

Yes, actually. Pressing tab should let you talk over the server, and you should see people dying every now and then.

To add to what said
expanding your log with / and then pressing pageup/home or num 7/9 lets you switch to read the chat log.

Okay, good. So server chatter will just pop up in the usual message box? I thought this was just the game being the game at first glance.

Ah, right. There it was.
I haven't played elona+ since v1.57 and forgot most of the controls. Thanks for the help, anons.

I thought death messages were not implemented yet?

Have fun boo

I did that but it's not working for me. Is there anything extra I should do?
I'm a bit of a pleb for these things. I can't even enable it, just open it. Thanks in advance.

Enable it in network options in the actual client? The popup should appear when you start up a game.

Maybe your antivirus/peerblock is restricting the game's access. I dunno, these instructions are so simple that it's virtually impossible to do anything wrong. Works on my machine TM.

You might have the in game options disabled
check options -> network settings on the starting menu.

Use network and constantly connect should be set to yes

Disabled this and that. Getting this error.
I use the custom version and tons of graphic mods.

And most crazy.

You also gain AP for killing fast monsters.

Close your game first and then do

Well nevermind, it was just that I didn't save the server doc the first time. Got it now. Thanks

???

Delete file server.txt, make new, paste "elochat-proxy.shiroko.yi.org%elona.squares.net%"

Doesn't work for me either. Something odd is that I have to type "elochat-proxy.shiroko.yi.org%elona.squares.net%" on server.txt every single time because it reverts to the original.
No internet connection message everytime.

Admin privileges? Read-only function for the text file?

Check config.txt, serverList should be 1.

If you got shit at the front of the url with the upsidedown ? etc., the server.txt file itself is messed up and needs to be deleted and remade

What are you trying to run? Cause I know running elochat.exe will fuck up the server.txt file itself and the text you type in it will get shit like that appears invisible in notepad but only shows up in the popup in-game

I did everything as you said, but now I'm getting this error, which causes the game to crash as soon as elochat starts. You're being a total bro though. Thanks.
Should I enable moonrune reading perhaps?
No idea what to do atthis point.

You don't start elochat. You access the chat from inside the game without having to start anything. If you get this error again, it's probably a location issue. Try setting system locale to Japanese then.

I should've specified, make sure it's NOT read only. Otherwise I have no clue what's fuckin' happening. If you're opening the elochat application like everyone else is suggesting, then don't do that. The server box opens with just the elonaplus/elonacustom client.

Oh yeah. Disabled the read only for the serv.txt but now I still get the "no internet connection" issue.

the only living weapon I've found so far is a metal stone. is it worth leveling this to put a bunch of resists on it? I don't use ranged weapons. also, if I want to level it, do I just have to use it a lot or do I actually have to kill things with it? how long does it usually take to get weapon up to level 10?

No.
You need to kill mobs with it.
I don't know, but be careful these weapons on higher levels can get bloodsuck.
Also to make good living weapon you need to savescum a lot.
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Living_weapon

Savescumming doesn't work anymore, living weapon level up attributes now depend on a combination of the month and the weapon's enchantment level. You can back out of the choice menu with no problems if you don't like the offerings.
And yeah, above weapon level 10 you are guaranteed to get bloodsucking applied.

In elona+ they don't get bloodsuck until lv10+ and get it automatically. The bonuses you can get also change each month so you can just back out of the menu if its not what you want and try again in a month. No scumming needed.

Oh.
How bad bloodsuck can get on these anyway # or #####?

It starts ## and goes up for each level past 10 up to ####+.

It's seriously bad.

That's why nobody does it.

We can't remove blood suck anymore through changing materials?

why is the clock on fire

All I had to do was deleting the server.text again. Thanks for everything. Got it working now.

Nope.
The living weapon system is completely different now.

what exactly is the enchantment level? does that refer to the +'s you get from the blacksmith?

Nefia fever.

I think so.

so if I want to add magic damage or elemental resist to a weapon I have to just keep trying different months?

Yes, changes every month and you can exit the menu if it does not have what you want.

My little girl randomly disappears and appears (with notification)
Is she cursed or something?

Might be an item she picked up or ate/drank.

What are the best creatures to put on a ranch?

I didn't expect this to hurt as much as it did.

>visit Derphy to see for goodies in the black market nothing what I didn't want though

I only have 17 charisma with the buffs and I never thought it would be that lucrative, usually I get some measly 200 to 500

RabbitsI think

welp

Start seducing richer people then, go for shopkeepers and high level advebturers and not guards or beggars.

Someone trying to become rich and famous in Derphy as well right now!

Was that written by another player?

Yes.

...

Oh boy. Have fun with that.

O (capital O, o is open)

wew lad at least its very easy to get rid off

finding alcohol has been surprisingly hard on my part, and i'm not going to spend my hard earned cash for booze

Derphy is the best town by far. Also have fun with that

...

Reminder for people trying to join that server for messages and having issues
There is a server set up, but it was set up for classic Elona and jap only, Elona+ 1.70 and later are gonna be hardcoded to block attempts to connect to that server as requested by the server owner because its a private server for vanilla elona.
So just maybe respect that. Unless the address posted earlier was for a DIFFERENT server.
This was in the changelog:

I dont know whats necesary to set on up for ourselves

Did you read the thread? The server we're using is elochat-proxy.shiroko.yi.org%elona.squares.net%
not noaneko.squares.net%.

ok my bad.
Doesnt hurt to leave that info out there for anyone who wasnt aware yet and was using the wrong one from an earlier version.

I can't destroy Derphy. Fuck. Aliens are killed too easily.

You can always make your own hooch.

Usually the first thing that gives AP is a Giant or Dragon of some sort.

That's pretty interesting. Are there other online-ish features planned?
Maybe like that mode in Ascend: hand of Kul, where sometimes an AI controlled npc would appear with the skills, name, looks and main companions of another pc.

No, the chat is an old feature that's returning after someone put up a new chat server.

Online was part of the game ever since vanilla Elona years ago, but last year Noa shut down the server for it because money. They had kept it up for many years after ceasing development themselves so it was understandable. It still works fine, just need to have a ner server address added to it.
Online features are:
Other 2 features that worked fine on jp but buggy on EN were

Please tell me they are working to make these happen on EN. Where has this game been all my life?

I give up, what the hell does the fertilizer you can make on a farm do?
The wiki too vague, I tried everything: using it on empty soil, on a freshly planted seed, on a half grown seed, when it's completely grown, after taking the fruits, and on dead trees. It always says The plant has already grown full

I can get it to work on half-grown plants just fine. What is with you?
Half-grown is the 2nd stage, remember.

Fug, just give it to me in moonspeak, then.

申し訳ありませんが、これは非翻訳文であります

More like a placeholder for anything untranslated. The entire place was like that.
仕方がない。

For what purpose? If the game gets popular among the retards you'll flood us with cancer.

new bread? hold off? whats the word?

Yes. Make one.

Do it.

where's the new thread faggots
