The correct response is to only play games already known to be good and pick up whatever hidden gems come out this year ~2-3 years later. I've been doing this for about 7 years and not only do I avoid shit games but I save a fuckton of cash by buying things with a delay. It was not so practical to do this back in the days of physical copies since they'd disappear fairly quickly but one of the few perks of digital distribution is being able to pick games up whenever you want.

Or basically sit yourself 2-3 years behind the current release schedule. If you're a PCfag this also saves you money on hardware. Actually you can repeat this tactic with consoles by just waiting an entire generation and then picking up the previous generation + games for pennies, you only miss out on multiplayer games and most console multiplayer games are shite anyway. There are so many good games from the past to play that you don't even need to be bored doing this. It makes you immune to hype too.

Divinity OS2 comes out on the 14th, Bannerlord's coming out, so on and so forth. Plus I've got a massive fucking backlog.
