1.70 is the most recent version of elona+. Elona is a game made by some jap named Noa. Elona plus is a mod of that game made by Ano.
mega.nz/#!txBSyDxQ!CB-S175ZQvzF0DBAEVFbGLzIeTSjT2yfztIRfTH1qCk
This brings about some quality of life changes and general improvements to the game as well as letting you customize things like pet AI, highly recommended. Extract this to the elona main folder and launch from the coffee cup icon. Made by some qt named annabannana and more recently taking up the torch a guy named bloodyshade.

A jap roguelike with an overworld and no permadeath. Can be played a ton of different ways like being a farmer who grows magic items as well as veggies, a piano player, and there's some new necromancy shit that was added. There is a ton of shit to do in the game.
Can be a bit grind heavy once you get settled though. Join in on the fun!

I really like the feel of this game, but I hate having to lurk wikis to understand every feature. It really kills the game for me and I can never really dig into it before I lose interest.

It's a good opening though, really sums up the game

It's taken me quite a few tries over time to get into this game, but now that I am I'm addicted to it. Haven't been this interested in a roguelike since old versions of DCSS

I wanted to use Elosnack to test out a few builds i had in mind without grinding for hours but it doesn't seem to work. When i load in my save and the .snack file it doesn't display anything.
Does anyone know if there's a fix?
I could roll back a version or two but i kinda want to test out the newer stuff.

I kind of miss the death messages. Is the server for them down or something?

Someone in the last thread said the server can only do chat right now, but they're working on moongates and the rest.

do you load up config file from elosnack folder? for me elosnack works, kinda sad that there isn't description for every variable

also, is number of platinum coin fixed for doing jobs, or do they give more as your fame raises?

Once you get more fame you can get more platinum, except from Party Time jobs which always give 1 plat.
I think the cap is a possible 10 platinum per job.

its fixed for jobs

The real question is should I be eating the horses or all the engagement rings i find?

ah dang last thread died. it was archived it too early! but anyway i asked last night where i could kill zombies? i need to do it for the fighters guild quest. i am level 5

It seems that it works once for every clean install. I thought about the Harakiri+Bloodstream combo that was put into the game recently and wanted to try it in combination with shadow step and the thief feat.

how to get harakiri =+bloodstrean combo in normal game without using editor?
Also, do you know if buisnesscard changes starting traits or just the 'hidden trait'?

None of those.
Get a pot of fusion and start working towards Herb in food.

There is a graveyard by Lumiest.

What is that?

Just randomly in dungeons I'm afraid.

The graveyard there is only populated by friendly silver wolves.

thanks. think i can kill them at level 5?

They're level 8, but if you have your pet with you you may be fine?
Very early game is hard to judge, a low level player is usually weaker than a same-level enemy.

...

It's random loot from the kamikaze samurai, i think. You get Bloodstream as a skill at 50 CON and WIL.

Harakiri is an artifact, that when used, leaves you at 1/8 HP with a bleed on you. It also immediately ends all combat for 15-50 turns. Monsters will ignore you until you attack again or the timer runs out. Bloodstream is a skill you get when you have enough CON and WIL. It deals damage in a line based on your CON and WIL and it gets a hefty modifier depending if you are bleeding and the if strength of the bleed is high enough.
As a thief, i wanted to try out if i can Shadowstep(dealing a guaranteed crit) then harakiri to end combat, quickly Shadowstep again and then Bloodstream.

sounds too much trouble tbh
I'd rather just spam violent garden

I should also mention that if you have pets with you, they can decapitate you if you use Harakiri (traditionally called "Kaisyaku"). I'm not sure what triggers it.

using it twice in a row IIRC

Does anyone have a working link for the Spritesheet + Item Sheet in the pastebin?

...

...

Fun with lucky days.

Do seeds ever rot? My freezer is full with them because I wanna grind to 41 gardening before I start a farm but now I have no room for any food.

no, they don't

Excellent, now I can keep some fruits in there and grind out some alchemy all at once

You put WAY too much effort into dropping shit in your shop. It works fine in one big pile you know.

I thought it wouldn't work if they were in a pile much like how furniture won't be counted if stacked.

I'd rather just hold a movement key while my pets kill everything before it even gets on screen.

Guess I'm team healer now.

How much performer do I need to be able to do party time quests without everything throwing rocks at me?

At least 30. Once you get the Ensemble special action to be able to perform with pets you should be fine as long as your pets have a couple ranks in perform each.

Even if they don't have much skill, they'll quickly gain levels in Performer once you start using Ensemble.
They key is to make sure they have the skill at all.

How the fuck do you reach 30 when you have nowhere you can play? Is the only way to stack lots of enchantments and dump every level up point into it?

Yeah it's annoying. One of the most reliable places to grind it is your Ranch, which should have plenty of level 1 creatures on it, but it still levels slow as shit. I ended up dumping some of my leveling points into it, I think it's the only skill I've used them on so far.

There's also the Younger Sister Mansion trick.
The Younger Sister shopkeeper there rapidly spawns other, lower leveled younger sisters when threatened, so if you summon some monsters near her she'll likely rapidly fill the mansion with low-level-performer targets.

elona.wikia.com/wiki/The_mansion_of_younger_sister

Much more difficult to pull off. First you have to get rid of your pets or they will instantly kill the monsters you summon. Then you have to summon a monster that doesn't instantly kill the younger sisters, then you have to teleport out the shopkeeper.

Command your pets to not attack. Summon Wild. Rod of teleport. Done.

So, send your pets back to town, a rod of summon monster, and a rod of teleport. Believe me when I say she will summon extra sisters far faster than whatever you summon can kill them.
If that's too difficult you are going to have a rough, rough time with Elona.

Really not that easy. Usually she just dies, if you summon something too weak it dies without her summoning anything, and if she does randomly decide to summon sisters they die instantly and because whatever it is is attacking them instead of her she stops summoning.

If you can manipulate all that in your favor fine, I'm sticking to my ranch.

Easier would be to just attack her yourself, then incognito when she summons enough

I'm trying to decide if it's worth investing massively in a blackmarket. Bringing her up to 5000 did start showing Aurora and Speed rings that I didn't notice before, but even at 17000 she doesn't seem to sell Godly items any more often than normal. If the odds are increased at all it's still small either way.

this shit got nerfed in 1.59 and another time before that too

the more you play to a NPC (in a short time) the less xp it gives
i think its one of the skill everyone spend some skillpoints on

Newfag here, feel free to bully. Can I be a mighty pirate captain in Elona?

Sadly, one of the few things you CAN'T do in elona is sail the seas or actually swim.

Seafaring in general does not exist in Elona, unfortunately.

There are asphalt pirates and you can kill traveling merchants you meet if you are strong enough.

nice joke

But yeah, you could make a thief with a crew that plunders the towns.

aw shit, such is life playing elona in mindless-zombie-speedmode

They are easy to kill, but the question is why would you? It kills your Karma and by the time you are strong enough their loot sucks.

Very occasionally they'll have a nice item for like 3 million gold before you get super rich.

How do you use fertilizer? Every time I try to use it, I'm told 'the plant has already grown full'.

you have to use it during the middle stage, after the sprout before it can be harvested

That's what I was doing and I got the same message.

Question: When extracting Japanese compressed files, how the fuck do I make it so that they don't come out in this sort of gibberish?

I need to try and get some semblance of coherent text that tells me what some of the Sprite numbers for the images in this file are, and some are so far out there I've no idea what to go on.

What do I need to do?

I've already got japanese Locale, so that isn't the trouble.

any way of getting fame in quick manner? i mean, really quick

Juere isn't a good race choice if I want to train cooking, since they don't eat often, correct?

What program are you using? Try 7zip

get 7zip, it resolves that automatically when extracting

training cooking doesn't need for you to eat things, but eating herbfilled meals is easier as a non juere race

???/

nigger are you serious?
7-zip.org/download.html

No I have 7zip. Easy 7zip infact, so I've still no idea why I'm getting giberish and not Japanese text or anything remotely close to numbers from the extracted files.

Try changing your locale to Japanese. That helped me with the gibberish when I was downloading Erovoices

my apologies i am very drunk

Like he said, it doesn't really impact your cooking training, but stat gain from food is VERY powerful. I wouldn't recommend Jure to anyone, the slower hunger is more of a penalty than a bonus. Gather more materials is pretty nice, but if you want that I'd go with a goblin instead.

How do I get rid of sickness? This aids is killing me. I guess this is what you get for trying to make money by getting laid.

Does shop ranking actually matter? Because all mine seems to do is plummet in terms of numbers.

Sleeping or blessed healing potions.

That's more of what I meant. Thanks.

Lower ranks = better

...

my mistake then.
Any way to check your max cargo inventory? I keep murdering bandit bosses and stealing their shit, but I have to drop a lot afterwards. Does traveling increase it or something?

Odd. It means you had two of them, but the second one should have turned into stardust when you picked it up, since it counts both your and your pets inventories.

I think your max cargo is the same as your max weight, but i could be wrong

The game only checks the current map and pet/player inventories. If you drop a fixed artifact in your house/storage and find another in the wild, it won't change.

no, your max cargo is independent. The only way to increase it is to spend bronze coins (NOT small medals) at the dwarves.

Press c, it's bottom left on the profile page

I can exceed the cargo limit, though. That's not the max at all.

It's the line before you get a travel speed penalty, but there are undocumented higher limits at which you can't use Return and can't move at all, dunno what those are.

wat

Return spells abandon your escorts.

is this a new thing? I thought they just gave a -10 karma penalty for trying to bypass the quest.

Read the popup messages next time. It says "Teleporting during an escort quest is forbidden" or something along those lines. Still worth doing early game for some big escorts you can't complete otherwise, but it's a -10 karma hit normally.

They do not abandon them, you can still complete the quest after casting Return, but it hurts.

...

That's a "sandbag". They basically turn any creature into a training dummy for you to test your shit on. You can (i)nteract with and release the sandbagged fanatic and take the sandbag for your personal use later. Note that sandbagging something requires it be nearly dead first.

...

you need good speed too.
You only have 60 minutes and walking around will take a lot of time at slow speeds

How hard is the end of lesimas? I got all of those stones and the way is open. Im level 25 .

Question for you actually, do you get a stone automatically after killing the end boss or is it an item you have to pick up on the floor somewhere? Because I couldn't find it after I exploded the guy in the crypt.

Probably need to be around lv40-50, maybe lower depending how many pets you bring

You get it automatically when you kill the boss of the last floor, check your journal if you're not sure if you've got it yet, there should be a page with it

You just get it. That crypt faggot was a paint beat at least with me.

Zeome is a lv 55 elona.wikia.com/wiki/Zeome_the_false_prophet if you silence him (I never bothered and was very over leveled when I fought him) you can probably kill him at an even lower level

Zeome's tough to silence since he's got a boss flag. Even if you do silence him, it'll only last for a fraction of the time it usually would.
Best to stack up chaos resistance on yourself and any pets you take with you.

Post pets

You can move as long as your cargo stays under double your max weight limit, I'm not sure if that also applies to the return limit or if that's different though.

...

Just try to not overuse it. NPC can attack you for using this.

This applies to Return spell.

What does gem do? Is that a new spell?

it gems

fucking lewd

I'll give you my top 4.

Dumb question, how are you screenshotting just the character menu and not the rest of the game? I just used snipping tool to grab the relevant bits, but you seem to have the rough edge included with none of the background.

Also is there a way to edit player character's sprite the same way you can edit a pet's?
I don't care much for the movement thing.

The Elona Extender Tools has shortcuts to screenshots only those
kusotool.web.fc2.com/eex/index.html
The program itself does actually come in english.

I don't think you can give the player a single sprite like pets, but you can replace or add new images to Graphic/PCCs for the player sprites to use. You could probably just make pcc_body_3 into the same sprite 12 times and have something like a pet sprite as long as you turned off all of the other features like visible equipment.

I didn't pay much attention since I'm not exactly used to thinking in cm/kg, but my defender and black angel could stand to lose some weight! I should probably feed them some soup of wonderland.

I am going to play Elona for the first time tonight.

Im using the snipping tool too, I'm just that good bro

Is there a way to make your starting pet loli a witch rather than a bruiser?

Use Custom AI, teach her spells and maker her use them.

I really need to upgrade Isca to something fire immune and ranged, what's a good option that isn't a bell/quickling archer?

After dumping tons of blessed hermes blood into her, my plan is to have this pet equip and after lowering those weapons weight with blessed flying scrolls, a chance to throw an absolute piercing attack + massive damage to gods is going to be needed to evolve my god pets with god hearts

if only she were a younger sister

Damn, I hope my pets can be that good oneday.

shiieet man, I just use whatever. I've been tying to think of another pet for my airhead wizard besides my dog. I was thinking a dragon maybe, or a golem, or a spirit considering I can summon them.

Share herbed meals and use Evochat to give them gold so they raise their potentials. When pets spend gp on trainers it raises all of their skill and attribute potentials except speed and probably luck. Worth noting on that speed, if you need to raise their speed potential you have to use a potion of speed upper on them.

My Absolute Defender and Black Catsister are both magic pets. They teleport in with Shadowstep and the proceed to drop Iceballs right in the middle of everything. If they happen to be at the right range they might throw lightning bolt/icebolt instead, along with element scar and water bolt. They also cast Healing Rain and contingency

The Black Seraph and Golden goose are both ranged. Golden Goose uses the Wind Bow and casts Platinum Song and Cheer (and contingency, everyone should have that spell), while the Black Seraph focuses on buffing herself with Lulwy's Trick and Boost (and contingency) and debuffing the enemy with Slow, which at this point only keeps her from murdering everything before anyone else gets a chance. She has the Rail Gun.

My melee pets use Contingency, Provoke, Shadowstep and BakuretuKenn. I need to teach them Attribute. We won't talk about what they are.

HOW THE FUCK DO I GET MORE HERB SEEDS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I really miss having Contingency attached to Cheer. Having to make all of my pets cast it on themselves sucks.

Get the cute fairy from Kumiromi and she/he'll shit out seeds (mostly fruit and veg, but rarely herb and artifact) when fed a filling meal.

Do Harvest quests.

Get a Statue of Kumiromi, every 120 hours you can use it and it'll shit out 3 seeds, you get rewarded one after doing a lv 60 quest in South Tyris elona.wikia.com/wiki/Demonstration_Level_60

You need elona custom
Step 1: get a cute fairy (Kumiromi god pet)
Step 2: get the 4th god gift from opatos of earth, the one that lowers speed
Step 3: amass a large supply of non perishable food that is filling
Step 4: sit the fairies ass and yours somewhere with no other npcs/pets around
Step 5: in the fairies talk menu in other>other settings select "eat items from bag"
Step 6: put on that shackle from opatos
Step 7: hold F3 to skip turns at the fastest speed possible
Step 8: Unlimited Seed Works
Make sure not to starve to death

On days with a 3, 6, or 9 in the number, the Statue of Kumiromi will grant you an Herb seed if used, otherwise you get a fruit seed.

On days with 3 or 9, you also get an artifact seed, otherwise you get a vegetable seed.

On all days you get an unknown seed.

the cute fairy is similar. On 3 or 9 you get an herb seed, otherwise you get a gem seed. On 3, 6 9 you get a magical seed, Otherwise a fruit seed. All days give you a vegetable seed. I've not actually tested the Cute Fairy myself though.

Note, you can get multiple statues via the Little Sister (big daddy) quest. So you could theoretically have a dozen or so in your home to provide plenty of seeds every 10 days.

Hunger increases based on the number of turns you take, so if your speed is 1 you probably won't be getting hungry any time soon. What kind of non-perishable foods are filling enough to farm seeds though?

My crew. I have a severe weakness for animal ears, sue me.
I'm still trying to figure out how I want my black cat to fight. I don't think I want her to stick with Dual Wield.

Any tips on where to place your homes and such?

wut are they

The shackle is used to slow yourself down and give the fairy more turns I was copying a guide from memory but I got some of it wrong. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, as I don't need to replant my herb farms.

elona.wikia.com/wiki/POWER_GARDENING_AND_EATING_MY_MAGIC_BALLS

Karatas with Barrier

Yeah but you still only get Herb seeds roughly one day in five. It would be much more efficient to improve her speed so she eats a lot more in that single day herb window, and then only seed farm on the appropriate days.

...

Oh, another thing. How do you get the god pets? As far as I can tell, I have level 25 faith and from what I've read that seems to be enough to get a defender pet from Jure. prayer doesn't spawn them on top of me so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do or where to go.

What's your favor like?

It's not based on your faith level it's based on your piety. Faith doesn't count for shit if you haven't been making regular offerings to your god.

You need to have enough favor. You get favor by making offerings, Faith only determines your favor cap, not how much you have.
Praying reduces your favor by 15%, by the way.

To grind favor you need to go to Truce Grounds north from Palmia and offer stuff to your god.

Also, you only need 15 faith to get enough favor for the pet.

I've been grinding along and making progress, but the wall I've been hitting lately during my dungeon dives is fucking magic. Red/Blue baptists fuck my shit up, I can't reliably hit them at range, and even if I manage to close the distance it's still difficult to take them down without getting nuked by magic.

I'm level 18 and they're listed as an 'easy opponent' so I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Any tips on dealing with magic users as a warrior?

You get shadow step at lv 30 stealth which you can use to close distance, also get equipment with resists in fire and cold, and all elements in general, you want them all covered cause if you come across a strong monster that you have no resist against it could nuke you and even dump a status effect on you. You can eat various corpses to also increase your innate resistances to specific elements up to a little bit, there should be a list of which corpses increase which resistances on the wiki.

...

...

...

How can i teach my pet's new spells? Also, how to actually train skills on pets?

What do I wish for as my first wish?

Seven league boots, a happy bed, or something else that you don't have on the wish-list for the wiki.

MAKE SURE YOU PUT IN THE RIGHT KEYWORD FOR EITHER OF THE THINGS I MENTIONED, I FORGOT

Well I already have a happy bed and the 11 speed from 7LB seems superfluous.
Is the travel speed boost the same thing as the speed stat boost though? If it's another entirely different thing then I guess I'll get it so I can do escort and in general travel faster.

Nah, 7LB travel speed is different and it makes you go a fuckload faster on the worldmap, making most urgent escort quests where the client is sick very simple.

Ayy just what I need. Also I have a fuckton of blessed water bottle, should I throw one on it?

Pretty sure unique artifacts are pre-blessed, sort of like the unknown shell.

Well it's not blessed. The wiki doesn't list it as an unique item either.
I slapped one on it anyway though, but I have no idea what blessing an item does and neither do I understand what enchantments do since according to the wiki, blessing equates a level of enchantment.

Seven league boots are not unique nor artifacts. They are just a rare generic.

Blessing item helps against curse and doom on it. Not 100% sure though.

Blessing equipment is the same as enhancing it +1.

Enhancing equipment adds +x DV/PV for armor, or +x Hit/Damage for weapons and claws, where x is the enhancement level. Scrolls can enhance things up to +5 if blessed, Blacksmiths can enhance to +10, and Stardust can enhance to +15.

Excuse me, regular scrolls go to +4/5, greater scrolls go to +6/8, depending on blessed/unblessed status.

Blessing a +15 is equivalent to having a +16 item.

How do you have such high stats/level and have only gotten 1 wish, and not even know what 7 league boots and holy water do?

Maybe he doesn't drink from wells normally and maybe he wished for something else first?

I was told there was a new tile for shops that allowed me to put things in my shop without them being sold. Which one is it?

Puppy cave :)

You still can be wrecked in it.
Annoying sidequest don't help it either.

So I tried to breed a Manticore (leveled down via oblivion palace) for Duel Gloves, and got a stray cat instead. Normally Stray cats don't breed true (you get cats instead) because they are for a repeatable quest.

I think If I ever reach a high enough level, I'd like to have Yacatect run my shop. 175 is a LONG way off though

Are you aware that Gods suffer horrible recruitment penalty?

Can you post proof of it?

Yes I'm aware of that. I wouldn't be doing it because of her high skills, just because I think it would be awesome to make a god run my shop.

I don't have the stray cat anymore. If another one shows up I'll try, what would be "proof" for you?

Does anyone have those images on how to set up the server? I kind of wanna use it; it's been too long since I've been able to see those death shitposts and make a few of my own.

Yes.

Here, stray cat.

It seems to be fairly rare, but savescumming a bit got it to show up a couple more times.

Ok then.
Nice team btw.

You know, this is going to sound like a silly question, but do you know what the sprites are actually for that I'm using for my two melee characters? I don't recall seeing anything like that in the game, but it's in the default spritesheet.

I use them because they are different but similar, that way I can tell the two apart but they still belong in a pair, and they are different enough from anything I typically encounter that I can still spot them in a sea of enemies.

I think these are golems sprites.
Gray is from rock and brown is from wood.
I am not 100% sure though.
I never fought against them yet.

There's already a server up.

2. In config.txt, set serverList. to "1"; 3

. Delete server.txt and create a new one with the same name;

4. Add "elochat-proxy.shiroko.yi.org%elona.squares.net%"

Guys I wanna say thanks; to anyone new here who's taken an interest in the games and has started posting in these threads sharing fresh reactions and comments on the game and the situations you can end up in, to those who have always posted here, and to those who have come back and started posting in the event of these threads becoming more popular. They've been active as fuck recently and the atmosphere here is comfy as hell; no faggots baiting and flaming, just people getting along and meming about a great game. These threads have recently become some of the best on Holla Forums because of the Anons in them.

That Putit with the WHATEVER LOSER that's been being posted in every other thread was my character. I still have him saved but I haven't played him since I posted him. I'm happy my shitty edit and character have gotten this far

polite sage

==Flipping heck== I forgot to sage

Oh, thanks user. All I needed was the address and the instructions on how to connect.

HECK

newfags can't redtext

Anyone for recommended tile/spritesheets? Half of the ones hosted by pomf-hummingbird don't work or just lead you to some shitty phishing site.

This is a golem. Other golems have the same sprite with different colors. The sprite I'm using is in the default spritesheet, numbers 769 and 770. Golem is 231

Actually you were technically right, I managed to find it by searching "769" in the wiki. It's the SMALL stone/wood golem, which are apparently created via pot for fusion.

Oh. I can even guess which recipes are for them.
I need still to get my charisma higher though.

Can you get overleveld to the point of being essentially god, or there is always something that can one-shot you regardless of anything?

Nah you can be a god.

Downloadan.

Oh shit it's so small.
Do I need to download any tilesets, or it's good to go as is?

You on plus or custom?

Both?
I dled things from the op.

If you grind your ass off. I don't know what level it would take to beat the Inner Gods, but I don't think I'm ever going to get there myself.

You only need one or the other, but go with Custom because it's elona plus with more shit and also better translations. It works out of the box. Keep in mind, it takes a long fucking time to get anywhere, and having some bare-knowledge will help you in the speed you do things. Besides the grind, it's a really in-depth game and you can do anything that doesn't involve the sea.

No, you need both. Custom is a Mod for Plus. You install Plus, then you copy custom over top of it.

Well yeah I want to know how to not break my head but also don't want to spoiler my shit.

Take this.
elona.wikia.com/wiki/Beginner's_Guide
Good luck.

If you're floundering about pick up the exorcism feat at the start. Not getting cursed will help a lot if you're at the start and also retarded. Other things that are important are speed and I guess luck for the memes. The other thing is that mission board quests are the easiest and quickest way to make money at the start and also probably mid game, while the puppy dungeon nearby re-forms each floor with randomly generated shit so you can go through there identifying stuff for later, or for sale, like all the magic items. Armour sells for fuck all but there's loads of it to wear in the dungeon, just identify it first to not of teleportation or bloodsucking or something. Dv is how you dodge, Pv is how much damage resistance you have. If you're wondering what anything does, there is usually a wiki page for it. Casino gambling is the easiest [and one of the earliest] ways to get potions of cure corruption, which will become obvious as to why they're needed later. Use one casino chip and win 5 times in a row. You can search generated dungeons that aren't the puppy dungeon to get materials, including the Casino chip. Randomly Generated dungeons respawn after a certain amount of time that escapes me at this point.

That's about all I wish I knew at the start.

What the fuck? I'm sure I typed something out. I'll re-type what I remember.

Ok I'm ready to go.
Is there an easy way to make screenshots? Fraps doesn't hook up with it.

Also might as well let the dubs name my first dude.

snipping tool, prntscr and paint using the crop tool.

Roland

Faggot

Well alt+tabbing doesn't crash or roll it down so using windows scissors work well enough I guess.

Almost. No rerolling allowed sorry.

That's like the lamest name you could've gotten.

Big Boss.

I mean shit like faggot is really boring.
He can reroll but for a different name, that's what I mean.

King Nigger then.

...

Seriously?

Mohammed.

Rudolf Hess, or just Rudolf.

I write faster than I think.

So he won't die of starvation or some shit.

Joseph Goebbels?

You need to be really dumb to die of starvation.

...

This.

Happened to me few times.

kek

So it begins

I was about to ask if you want me to sprite you a SS officer uniform but you're a nigger.

I see you picked the most nigger description you could find, too. Good work, user.

Did you just spawn with a giant rock?

looks like it, doesn't it?

Is there like simple fucking inventory button?
Ui is really shit in this game. Are all roguelikes like this?
I only played dungeons of dredmor before.

Thanks.

Yes. I threw it away as it burdened me.
I have no idea what those numbers mean.

I for inventory, use the keypad to navigate

X, that's shift+x, puts you onto "examine". t is use, T is throw, e is for eat, q is for drink

There are different inventory buttons for different things. Generally though X will just let you go through your inventory and examine shit.

You may just be a fledgling now but please don't tell me you threw it away somewhere you can't retrieve it. that's some good weight lifting training material and a good emergency weapon for starters. Especially since you didn't start out straight up at Overweight.

Yes.
You've got three character menu options, actually. Your actual inventory, your character sheet plus feats, materials and other shit, and then the crafting-able inventory.

A good rule of thumb is associating words with a letter. For example, use is "enter" or t, and throw is "T". to e'X'amine something, you just work in like that. The hotkeys are associated with English words, though you might not see what it means immediately. Q for quaffing and shit.

also another tip, if you ever get "pregnant", the only way to kill the thing inside of you is to drink sulfuric acid.

Actually you can just drink a dye or a normal poison, which is much easier to deal with then the instantaneous damage from acid.

also fun thing, not all items are generated back when you swich to palace, or i am a retard who can't find second bag with items. Anybody can confirm that all your things come back as you swich houses?

See I remember doing that the first time it happened but it didn't work. Is there a specific type of poison or was I just being dumb?

You can also vomit the thing up. Cursed food will make you vomit, along with a number of other less reliable things.

Yes literally all of them.
Unless you put stuff in a bunker, then they're in there.

They are supposed to. It was all in one pile for me.

So like how do I throw this piece of shit away?

What the fuck.

How do I train shit in this game?

You probably drank Dirty Water and thought it was poison since you got sick.
Otherwise I have no clue how it didn't work.

It's fucking cursed, nigger. Go find a magic shop and try to uncurse it. It costs 2000 gold, though.

gondola

But tutorial dude gave it to me, what the shit?

Yeah they give you randomly generated stuff. From my experience, about 10% of everything you find tends to be cursed, and the another 10% blessed.

(Scary) means it's a not fully identified cursed item, gotta uncurse that shit first or die enough times that they drop.
Training is simply doing whatever you want to do enough times, and weight lifting is trained by simply being burdened. Burden lowers your speed but it's bearable as long as you don't go into Overweight territory, which starts damaging you and interrupting tasks.

He also gave you a scroll, you didn't use it before picking up the bow and arrow did you?

Read that scroll of vanish curse, that you should receive from tutorial dude. To erase curse.
He will give next one, if you used one too early.
Ayy lmao in stomach
Use your skills.

Too slow.

So you be sayin I just wear this fuckhuge stone with me and be swole like Shaq one day?

YES
Though do keep in mind to sleep regularly, otherwise the swoleness gains will take for-fucking-ever.

1d40+3 roughly means you have a chance to hit anywhere from 1-40 damage with 3 damage on top, you also have a -8 chance to hit with it, -15 dodge, and slightly more damage resistance while having it equipped. That's what those numbers mean, and you can tell what they are by their brackets and stuff. Keep in mind your damage also increases somewhat linearly as well as with your accuracy as your skills level up. I forget the actual calculation but it doesn't take long to become accurate as fuck.

Also, raw items can be eaten. This is useful for having either spare, shitty food or eating armour that can give you buffs like engagement rings for your charisma potential.

Hoo boy. Please tell me I can BLACK my pet.

How do I sleep? Can I sleep on the ground or I need beds and shit?

Do I need to keep it equipped or just to have it in my bag?

I found an beautiful shell and its the only item in my inventory that can't be identified by the local wizard after countless [identify all items], all i know its that its good and special. What do?

You need anything the game registers as a bed. You can just use the beds of other people if you don't have one yet (it has been a gorillion years since I played this, has it changed?)
Also yes, you can BLACK your pets

Sleeping on the ground is possible by simply resting when your sleepy has gone into Need Sleep, but it's not recommended at all due to how shit-tier your gains get.
You can start BLACKing ANY of your pets once you have their impress high enough, but we'll come to that when we get there.

Equipped. Also your fuckhueg rock is a (shoot) weapon, so you need to press 'f'ire to use it in combat. Note you can pre-select who you want to shoot before you shoot with either * or l (the letter L) before you murder people. A rule of thumb is, shoot is ranged, magic has no accuracy requirement and always hits unless it fails, and melee activates when you bump into something. The exception is skills and wideskills, which have their own conditions and targeting systems.

use the investigate item function, or a scroll of greater identify, nigger.

Shieeet.

You have to investigate it or grind your identification skill. Or use greater identify spell/scroll.

You can do both. But beds are recommended.
They raise your stats potential better. Try to keep them on Good at least.
It just can be in your bag.
Pick little girl, Adolf.

Just wear it user.

Not to sound casual as fuck I feel casual as fuck but how come there still be no mouse-driven roguelike with full functionality so you know it can be played in both old-school way and with mouse. You know with context menus and shit.
I mean it's not like it directly affects the game, only the learning curve.
I feel like just not seeing all the potential freedom Elona has just because I don't know it's there since I didn't plowed through two and a half wikis.

Couldn't tell you. Honestly, being forced to use the keyboard gives me this feeling of immersion I don't think I've felt with anything else, so that might be a reason why. Something about autistically and meticulously scrolling through your available options has a strange appeal, though I can see why the mouse option would be nice. The real answer is probably this: Roguelikes are a niche genre with a niche market, and are typically developed by one, two, maybe at most three whole people, and thus a mouse-capable gui (or at times, even just a gui) is a side-note to the often meticulously thought out gameplay. Just take it as the side effect of not being poisoned by triple-a methods or casuals, I guess.

No idea.
I remember that, when I tried to make mouse-driven interface in Javascript.
It was a pain. I don't even remember, if I was able to do this at all.

That's actually reasonable explanation.

Seriously. Each E+ update adds a bunch of new shit each time, and there's only maybe a month or two between each release.

I think it's because there are times when you need to move a very specific way one turn at a time, and clicking one cell at a time is annoying as fuck.
Whereas if you have 8-directional control in the form of numpad buttons, you can both press them to move turn-by-turn and you can just hold down the key to sprint.
And when you get that style of movement down, it doesn't even make sense to make everything else mouse-friendly anymore. Why do it when you have both your hands on the keyboard 90% of the time you play it anyway?

I was talking more about inventory management and stuff. Like identifying, buying, selling, that stuff.
Also PKMing NPCs would be much easier.

you do have weightlifting right?

He made his class Knigga, so I assume he started with Weight Lifting as a Warrior.

So is mind damage the best damage modifier? I found a 1d21 pair of dirty panties that when wielded as a weapon gives me extra cold resistance and causes enemies to kill themselves.

Enemies killing themselves is just flavortext from the thing finishing the foe off is due to mind damage, in actuality it just depends on enemy resistances.

the mind damage modifier was (#####+), so I have no idea how intense the damage actually is.

Probably like 20-50%.

That's a pretty huge gap. You got a short explanation on how the # and + works user?

elona.wikia.com/wiki/Element
With the explanation in the link in mind the #'s probably represent the percentage it takes from the base damage, so it's a pretty hefty chunk of 1d21.

I prefer nether damage.
That life drain.

It is highest possible modifier.
Congratulations.

I've got no clue. It's just that I gained a #####+ buff on a staff for magic one day and I was suddenly one-shotting things that took 2-3 magic darts. Each # tends to improve a skill by 1 point, same with attributes. Assuming this carries over into weapons, then we can make a calculation as it's similar to an inverse PV of some sort, not to be confused with pierce. Maybe it works similarly to resistances, and just gives a flat percentage increase. I'm not sure. all I know is my damage rate went up anywhere from 20-50% on my spells because of the staff. Also, it's a conversion thing, so most of your damage will be mind, and then there'll be a buff to that damage as I mentioned above.

No, wait, I figured it out.
each # when referring to elemental damage is a percentage based modifier based on the total hit damage of an attack, dependent on the xdx standard equation. one # is 87.5 percent, so on top of the original damage, 87.5 of that becomes [element] damage. #### adds a 350% elemental damage bonus. Resistances are 50% per #, but they don't completely negate damage at 100%, they do scaling diminishing returns from that point on, of which I'll make a complex equation if you give a shit.

There isn't any need for this.

I meant xdy, forgive me I haven't slept in ages.

That's resistances though, not damage values.

so my panties is now 1d21 physical damage and 5d18 mind damage?

Oh.

Not quite. Your total mind damage is based on the actual damage your initial hit does, so the mind damage is dependent on what you actually roll on that 21. If it's 21, then you do an additional 105. like, uh, 1d(105/21(-20(-19(-18) etc.

I'm too tired to be correcting myself but fuck it anyway.
1d21(5/resistance)

wow that is a bretty good find then. Cheers for clearing that up.

tbh don't bother worrying about elemental damage. You don't need to min max that much for anything. Just pick things which higher dice damage and use those

Why are all your pets children?

How? Did you clone/breed a couple?

Tales of Maj'Eyal

The limit of god pets in elona+ is Faith/10.
I don't know if this applies to custom though.
Limit can ignored, if you drop them on discarded ranch.

I guess this is it for my first experience with this game.
I guess you do need to go autistic on it to get anywhere.

Unlike most Roguelikes Elona doesn't involve permadeath unless you select it, this is because of the ridiculously steep learning curve alongside the content.
The best way to play it if you don't have autism is to just play it for a little bit like a toy, discover things, take a break and then repeat and eventually you can get a good grasp of the mechanics without just looking at the wiki.

So bandits got you. Pick A to continue.
Don't try to fight them until you are able to kill rouge boss.

You know continuing after some major fuck up is even more painful than starting anew.
I wish this game just allowed you to savescum, like in good old days of Fallout 1 and 2.

C'mon now user, you know it's pretty much child's play to get back to where you were after one death.

Don't be a faggot.
Until you hit level 6 you don't have any penalty.
The worst what can happen after that is losing stats and few items.

...

Learn from your deaths and they will be so far apart that you'll gain more then you lose, if you REALLY don't want to lose a item you should keep them in your house for safe-keeping.

Yes and yes. A few superGods have instakill attacks that as far as I'm aware you can only avoid by luck or killing them first. Normal Gods are only around level 300 iirc.

It's only by 0.5 point. This isn't huge amount.

Is there anything special that's important to dump character points into, or is it fine to just put them into whatever is low on potential?

Save them until you really need them.
don't do this ever. Train the potential with platinum coins before using it.

It's just wasteful, use them on something with very high potential like 200%+

Really need them as in, when the skill is at a high level and the grind is real? I've been using platinum too, but I've got a good chunk of points stockpiled and wasn't sure if it was a waste to hoard them

I wasn't aware potential affects the bonus points.

>and only to find out much later on that killing little sisters irreversibly reduces the spawnrate of big daddies no wonder they're so god damn rare lately
NEVER KILL LITTLE SISTERS

Shit I've ruined my playthrough, and I'm not the type to cheat and edit values in the game, might just reset and go snail tourist for the absurdly low INI or whatever.

Any tips for character reset? Soul spindles worth it? (current char is ~lv65 with 10 pets ~lv 55-68)

At what shop rank will my shopkeeper start selling miracle gear reliably?
Its 80 right now and he hasn't sold a single thing that is worth more than 3000gold.

source on this?

I just befriended a wing snail; I don't have a ranch yet but the wiki says that, despite the fact that it sucks in combat, it has great breeding power and produces shades. Can somebody explain to me more fully what the advantage of producing shades at a ranch is?

shades can take the form of any unnamed unit. By default shades have bad breeding and you can't really catch them so having a wing snail is the only way to get them.

>elona.wikia.com/wiki/Little_sister_level_30#Strategies
There's no way to reduce the little sister kill counter outside of editing your save as far as I know.

Try 300 rank or so.

This or on some skills which are hard to level up even on low levels.

I noticed it on 15 level.

Or any recruitable .
Chess pieces don't count.

so i'm a level 6 warrior with 30k gold (long sword shield crossbow) any general tips for me? what should i invest my plat in? i have 18

in the last thread some one mention a town i could trade slaves in that sounds fun.

So the advantage is being able to breed more of a variety of monsters all at once, correct? Like, if I butchered one on my ranch, it would drop the corpse and possibly the equipment of the monster/unit it was imitating?

Rank goes from 100 to 1, not 1 to 2000.

First learn ALL the skills you might need to use. Even if you don't think you'll use it that much, learn it before you dump platinum into skill potentials. From what I've been told you should probably just buy every skill even if you wont use some of them, anyway

buy swimming.

Wrong.

Yes. Yes. Also possibility getting completely broken allies. At least early-mid game.

Don't listen to this fag
It's Derphy. It's south from Port Kabul.
Try to join Fighter Guild at Port. Buy skills from trainer there.

Are you seriously this stupid or just pretending?

No, I am not.
Look at last three.

I was talking about my shop building.
Stop wasting my time with your ill informed arrogant bullshit

Farming, swimming, literacy, gene engineer, and alchemy are all top tier choices.

No Escape
No Mercy

So what was your most stupid death in elona, anons?

I found this cool looking whip during Fever, first precious weapon I've come across, and then I found…this fucking thing.

Later on, you can encounter , which breeds shades, has a base level of 65, and has nearly twice the base breed power of Wing Snail.

Wew.
These shoes have worst penalties I have ever seen.
Etherwind would give you ether aids with triple speed.
If bloodsucking wouldn't kill you before first.

OOGA BOOGA BIX NOOD KILL WHITEY

I just got a King Heart. What should I evolve with it?

NETHER not ETHERWIND

If you run a catsister it helps out a lot with their health. Maybe kamikazee yeek for a meme pet.

Overall most of the pets that use it don't have much special going for them.

little lord fauntleroy

Sorry.

Yeah, that's your problem. Easy books like Minor Healing shouldn't be an issue, but the spell in the book determines its complexity. Failure will do anything from teleporting you to draining your mana, to summoning monsters.

thanks.
i have found a book tiled voynich manuscript i assume that is way to high for me to read.

That's actually the easiest book of the "ancient book" series, which are necessary for Mage's Guild quests.

well i just put it on the side. i am doing warrior stuff for a long time i guess..
side note i found a Deeds of heirship it said to use it and stuff would be in my heir chest at home but there was nothing in it?

It's for your new character from gene making with one of your pets.

It's used for some crafting recipes.
You sell them or give them to a pet so they get money and train.

You can mark certain items as precious so you don't accidentally drop or sell them. I'm not sure if it also prevents it from dropping on death.

Modifiers have an exact value that keeps going up past #####+. You need the Objet of Heart from an act 2 sidequest to see the exact numbers

No.

Let's talk about "Enhances your spells"

It has a cap. I get conflicting reports as to whether that cap is at 2x, 2.5x or 3x. I don't know what the exact enhancement value (with objet of heart) is for that cap, but it's suggested to be 2000

The highest static artifact grants 1200 value and 1.8x multiplier, enhancement value's stack additively and the total multiplier is then figured by the total enhancement value. A cap of 2000 seems sensible, but I still don't have confirmation

"Enhances your spells" does NOT simply multiply damage. It multiplies the effective value of all of the things used to calculate spell effect. If a spells damage were to be calculated as "Magic*Spell level" and you had 100 of each, a 2x "enhances your spells" would take your total damage from 100*100 to 200*200, which would be a 4x damage increase. Furthermore, the formulas for most spells give them exponential growth based on spell level, so the actual effect tends to be even higher. It also improves buff spells.

Also worth noting that Magic Equip is multiplicative with your existing "enhances your spells" and functions the same way. With how the formulas work, that 20% increase could as much as double you damage AFTER your existing boosts.

The cap is 2.5x, which occurs at 1500 enchantment power.
Magic equip, assuming you're at max spell power multiplier, boosts that from 2.5x to 3x.

If that were true, the Vital Flayer which has a 1200 enchant strength would be granting a 2.2 multiplier. According to the wiki, it only grants a 1.8.

Same could be said about any other weapon on the wiki, the Staff of Insanity has a 350 enchant strength and is said to grant 1.23x, the Scythe of Void is 450 and 1.3x, the Mag-Abyss is 400/1.26, Vice Staff is 600/1.4

I'm going through the changelog, I can absolutely confirm that enhances your spells affects magic devices. The 1.60 changelog says this:
That both confirms that it works and clarifies why it might not have seemed to work prior to 1.60

1.59 caps the modifier at 2x

that 1.59 patch is probably where the confusion is coming from.

Prior to 1.59, your max enhance may well have been 2.5x at 2500. The cap was reduced to 2.0x. The "proportionally harder to increase" most likely means that you still cap at 2500 enhance value, with the end result being a 2.5x multiplier.

It is a new spell, based on CON it raises PV and charisma.
If you have the buff active, you can check your character sheet to see what it does.

just steal one from the shop with the trainer in vernis if you're that desperate

Nice thing about Living Mana battery is there's no diminishing returns on spell stocks. The more spell stocks you have when you read a book, the fewer you get for reading it, which makes storing large numbers of your "main spells" a pain in the ass. When you absorb stock from a rod you always get the same amount of stock per charge regardless of how much you already have.

As a result, I now have 31681 stocks of Ice bolt (my primary damage spell) after using Carpentry to craft a couple hundred rods. Not going to be running out any time soon

(((Cloudflare)))

Honestly at this point I'm not impressed with my magic damage; it's a whole lot of setup (especially on curse-resistant bosses) for not too much payoff. And I still have to negotiate around hitting my pets. Although honestly anything I do now will pale in comparison to my pets.
I'll probably be swapping to a different main damage skill while still keeping a pocket Meteor and (de)buff spells.

Are you using the custom AI thing? That breaks the game imo.

Pets level up easier, but player magic is stronger in the long run. And for fuck sack train Control Magic. You should never have to worry about hitting your pets with anything short of meteor. Even if your Control Magic level is only HALF your spell level you should still only be doing at most 2-digit damage to pets with 4-digit health. Even if Control Magic fails to avoid them completely, it dramatically reduces the damage, which should be further reduced by resists as well.

Also, remember to wet the target. AFAIK there's no "resistance" to wet, it just automatically works if you cast a water spell (water bolt/bubble storm). It's a pretty big multiplier to cold and lightning damage. Also Itzpalt's second gift is a permanent multiplier to cold/lightning/fire spells, so another reason you should always be using those if possible.

The only real difference it would make is they'd spend more time running up to things before they hit them in the face. It's not like I'm using Karatas or anything.
Pets just simply gain skills way faster than the PC.

I've got all that shit and my CM is probably higher than my average spell level, but I still end up chipping away at my pets. Mostly it's just annoying as hell. (Meteor just kills all my pets except one)
Versus an elemental scar'd, wet, lvl ~200 {monster} I deal ~3k damage per bolt, while my pets deal roughly that much in damage per hit with no applicable debuffs, and that's not even counting "furthermore" attacks.

It's more the fact that you can teach them stuff they shouldn't have and they can spam it on demand.

It's more the fact that you can teach them stuff they shouldn't have and they can spam it on demand.

It's a lot more difference than that if you use the AI system to its fullest. I get why having an army of pets that are pretty much just as capable as the Player is "imbalanced", but it's really no fun to carry around an army of idiots.

My icebolt is level 96. With Element Scar and Wet, it does right about 30k (to a sandbagged cat). Without Element Scar it's more like 20k. My Black Cat uses the same spell and does 20k with both, but she doesn't have as much "enhances your spells" equipment.

Now My Black Angel on the other hand does lots of little hits. A critical hit does around 5000 direct damage, with more damage coming from various procs. Her total though is right around 20k.

My Control Magic skill is rank 97. If I cast ice bolt through my Black Angel (who has the least cold resist out of all my pets at only ##, it does about 87 damage average (literally spammed it till she was dead and figured how many attacks it took and her max health). With two of my pets set up to automatically cast healing rain whenever somebody is under 90% HP, it's VERY unlikely I will ever accidentally kill my pets with my spells. I could do to train my control magic a bit more though.

There are very few abilities that you can't give pets via AP. You can give them a whole range of different spells, attacks, buffs, and debuffs, and it's not even very expensive to do so. The only thing I use that I have them use I don't think I can give is Contingency, but I'm not going to complain about pets just not dying instantly.

AI just lets them use those abilities (semi) intelligently. Like I said, there's no fun in herding around a bunch of retards, balance be damned.

That's pretty much the same damage I'm dealing, it's just frustrating to see it neutered against high level {enemies} I guess.
Maybe I'm just expecting too much or gunning too high for my current level?

I suppose I get envious of my MA pet sometimes. She just casts Attribute and it's off to the races.

As long as we're on the topic, do you guys have any advice for writing AIs? Things like…when to start considering it, general guidelines and things like that.

I can't seem to teach any of my pets spells, for unknown reasons. And even if I could, I'm not sure how exactly to structure their commands. I'm assuming range/melee pets are buff cycle > attack commands > movement as a catch-all, and mages would be attack when low on mp > buffs > damage spells > movement?

Would love to delve into customizing AI but if it's more complex than that I might just stick with my brain-dead companions.

In order to teach a pet a spell you need to have at least level 50 in that spell and the pet needs a sufficiently high casting skill dependent on the spell (somewhere close to 90 for things like contingency, probably closer to 30 for bolts). Skills require ranks in the governing attribute, I think at 3x what the player learns it at.

I'll go on about AI setup in a few minutes, busy right now

I mean shit, that 30k gets whittled down pretty fucking fast when you get to resistant shit.
This is wet + scar, level 98 Ice Bolt.

I've been doing a lot of random things to get me started on my main character like gardening/cooking and i've kept myself busy for a couple of in-game months now.
I decided i should probably start doing the main quest but when i go through Lesimas, Slan isn't there. There is a book on the ground where he should be, does that mean he died? He can respawn, right?

That's kind of the point. PV does the same thing Resists do to physical damage, Penetration is only good for the random reduction at the end (not the percentage).

Personally, I could never play a melee character just because having to actually get into melee range to do things is too much fucking effort. Even with Shadowstep, you then have to play around the extremely limited sp instead of the virtually unlimited mp. It's just way too slow in a game where you are killing millions of thing

My AI is pretty much exactly what you mentioned. A couple of things to remember is that pets will often refuse to attack past a certain range (5 usually) even if their weapons/spells are capable of it. You'll either have to cap the Attack command at that range (if distance 5 move forward). For Melee pets you can teach them Shadowstep and effectively replace the move command with it (if distance>1, shadowstep), but it might be good to have a redundant move afterward in case the pet decides he's too tired to shadowstep.

Pets don't really have SP, so they can spam a lot of things you can't, but it does seem that there is some kind of limit. I think the limit is per-ability, so you can safely tell your Martial Artist to spam BakuretuKen and he will still manage to shadowstep even if he "runs out", but you can throw a standard melee attack/move in at the end just to be sure.

Have you tried reading the book?

No rush. Level 50 in most of my spells is a ways off as it is

Yes, it's a tutorial on how Command flags work.

And I just realized why.
Elemental damage gets double dipped on resistances.

Once enemies get to level 350 and beyond, they have Normal (+100) Magic resistance in addition to Superb (+200) resistance to everything else.
Magic resistance applies (in a smaller amount) to all other elements as well.
An enemy with Elemental Scar on it still has (200 - 150) = 50 resistance to the basic elements.
That 50 elemental resist cuts the base damage in half. Magic resist then comes in and reduces whats left to 2/3. 0.5 * 0.66 = 0.33. So elemental spells can deal at most 1/3 damage.

Quickly checking the numbers for level 2000 spells at max power in the spell calculator spreadsheet, this means that an elemental scar'd enemy takes MORE damage from Crystal Spear than Ice Bolt. Only when the enemy is also wet does Ice Bolt finally pull ahead. Yes, this is with Itzpalt's boost.

Fuck this shit I'm just using Magic spells.

Your numbers are very clearly wrong. You are right that magic resist applies again, but at a reduced rate. Furthermore, you need 150 resist to cut base damage in half

Wait, I calculated that wrong since Magic spells get the full impact of Magic resist.
In any event, I'm just going to find a nice gun and Zero Shoot my way to victory.

100 is "No Resist." Everything starts with 100, so +50 brings you right to 1/2 damage.
And yes, I calculated magic resist at the reduced rate.

going to ask again. anyone know a good place to kill zombies level 7 now and i still can't find a source?

They don't really have a set location, check out dungeons in the level 5-10 range.

thanks user

These are some good threads and you should be proud of yourselves.

What kind of cold bastard would sell Pael's mom?

what's up with the sudden explosion in interest, anyway? We usually were stuck to one thread per month, depending on interest.

I decided to play the game?

Seriously, I've clocked like 500 posts by myself across however many threads we've had lately. I'm here at practically all hours of the day answering and occasionally asking random questions and problems.

No idea. We had a ton when we got here and then interest kinda died off, we would have threads here and there after that. I would start them every few months or so. I'm sure after a while interest will die again and I'll let it sleep for a bit before starting them again.

i also recently picked it up and have been asking lots of questions.

A really well made meme-esque video perfectly distilled and summarized the crux of elona to hook any decent videogamer's interest.

I know what you're talking about, however, anyone who posts screencaps of imageboards needs to be gassed, that faggot included.

Does anyone know anything about high-level shops and how effective investing in them is? I'm talking levels over 1000

The only thing that really benefits for levels over 100, let alone 1000, are black-market vendors, capping out at about 4500. Everything else reaches its peak capacity at 100 or so.

The capacity of black markets got nerfed hard. Now you only get about 2 pages max, maybe some spillover onto the third.

Supposedly, the QUALITY of goods continues to go up though. I can confirm that Speed and Aurora rings only show up at blackmarket vendors with very high invest levels (I saw them at a 5000, but not at a 1000). If they do show at lower levels it's so rare that I've missed them. I'm more interested in Godly quality items than those particular rare item types though, and I'd like magic vendors to stock Flying scrolls more often

I meant in terms of goods and their quality.

what is a Potion of Vitality?

How do i teach pets a spell or ability? Fucking progress has been stuck at 0% for ages.

Don't you have to write their tactics to only use that spell until they spit it out properly?

Oh… I never used the custom AI at all, shit.

Make them try to use it.

You'll find whatever spell you are teaching them shows up as a selectable action in their AI already. Just set up an AI line that makes them spam it.

Keep in mind that the lower their percent progress the more they will fail to use that action at all (so it's going to be like 1 in 100 to start). If they fail the action they skip to the next AI line, so them saying they are confused doesn't mean anything is wrong.

(checked)
I've set up pic related as the AI lines, but the AI still won't shoot crystal spears at all, wat do?

my lingo is off but I can't tell if that's greater than or less than or equal to. Are you getting "don't know what to do" messages, or is just nothing happening? If that's the case, switch up your values a bit.

How far is their learning progress? They won't appear to do anything for a long while they're still learning the spell but the % will slowly increase.

Literally just nothing.

Well shit, back to waiting and fucking around in puppy cave then.

Anyone got any nice looking PCC sprites?

I got a few

...

...

will these work the same as BMPs like the ones from elonaup whereby I just slap them into the userfolder?

You need to crop them and save as bmp. Cant upload BMP files here

Ah fair enough.

...

Thanks by the way, that's a fuckload of choice.

Oh something to add to that guide. To change your own PCC, press 'c' to open your character status window, then 'p' to open the sprite/portrait menu

it would also be helpful in the uh, pcc guide, that PCCs are 128x192.

So how likely am I to end up killing myself with this thing?

Like exactly 100% and also getting a karma hit.

If you are too close and have less than 1000 HP then it is 100%.

Unleash your inner Allahu Ackbar.

Okay what do i do when my pet doesn't understand the instruction i gave it? Pic related is what i set for a pet of mine.

Why you repeated Eye of Insanity and Chaos eye two times?
You need to have one.

Fixed it into pic related and it still doesn't work, is there a guide to it or something?

Now i only need to fix my potentials

I don't even know if there is one.

What do you think the pet will do if the distance is == 3?

Nevermind, Nether Arrow

This is just a guess, but I think the issue here might be that you have 3 exact same conditions with different actions, so the pet might be attempting to do the first 2 at the same time and gets confused instead.
Try switching the order of instructions around, namely 3 to 2 and 2 to 3. If that doesn't work mess around with the distances a bit, that fixed my issues the other day. And if that doesn't work I have no clue.

hey, getting gems from act 1, should i pick up something physically or not?

i mean 3 magical gems from tower of fire, crypt and castle

For tower of fire get huge fire resistance, for crypt be prepared for hordes of undead also get dark and cold resistance, for castle get nether res and have good crowd control for its boss.

Any items you need for the main quest typically get automatically picked up via a log message, and get put into the back page of your journal

Tried pics related and it still doesn't work, i give up.

Are you teaching your pet spells/skills by chance? Because when they're still learning it it'll just say your pet doesn't understand the instructions and occasionally successfully uses the spell/skill until it gets better at it.

Thanks, that really helped
Also, how many posts till postlimit?

About 275 posts. We're going to hit page 14-15 by that time so a thread can be made around that time.

Funny because I actually haven't been able to get back into the game. I'm just keeping an eye on the threads.

Nope.

I haven't gotten into this yet so I could be wrong, but you're saying that the message is your pet not understanding your instructions. That means it's getting a command it can't perform, in this case, it's probably a spell that it doesn't know but you should be teaching it. But you say here

That you aren't doing that. So your pet already knows every spell you're trying to have it use?

Has anyone tried the Moai pet? Apparently it has both cMetal and cFury, it also has no wasted slots and an evolution which gives it the Volley fire special action. All these together mean that it gets better the more there are of them.

It actually does not have cMetal or cArmor, just high Con.
Check the comments on the Moai page.

Is there any way to stack items that aren't already stacked? I have 3 different stacks of lemons in my freezer and they're all non-cursed, non-blessed lemons but they remain in separate stacks.

can you get natural elemental resistances somehow?
enough to survive fire areas without fire resist equipment?

Yes.
No.

Certain monsters will give you elemental resistances when you eat their corpses, up to Normal resist with no equipment on (2 corpses to get there). These resistances are not entirely permanent and can be subsequently lost through dream random events.
Normal resist probably isn't enough to get you through the Tower of Fire, though.

Still one of the best long ranged pets, on par with Android but has fury which makes it better.

Black Angel though.

Constantly attacks in melee without AP to fix it. If it stood in place and shot enemies I wouldn't be looking for other pets.

It takes all of 20 AP to fix that, or E+C.

That involves going to act 2, I have to deal with this gimped Black angel the entire time. The Moai works out of the box and even helps the black angel with the volley action.

Ironically black angel makes for one of the strongest MELEE pets in the game. Boost is a 20% strength increase. Shes not the only one with boost, but she has lulwys trick when evolved on top of it

You can try dropping them on the floor and picking them up again. Otherwise that just happens sometimes

Hand over the gear and no one needs to get hurt

The platemail is nice. I wouldnt use the wing myself because back slot with garoks hammer enhances your spells. I also have unrands with proximity assist and interlocking shooting.

Garok's only brings gear to Miracle though, which has a lower artifact fusion limit than Godly.

Okay, i spent a month and a half grinding and i still can't progress. Slan still hasn't respawned. Guess i'll just remake my character as close as i can and try again.

is there any usage to little ball? i got 2 of them and i do;t know what to do with them- wiki gives no clue

Little Sister repeatable quest.

This is true, but Godly equipment usually has a lot of trash attributes taking up enhancement slots, besides the grinding involved in getting your equipment maxed out in artifact fusion to begin with. I guess once you've reached a point that the only thing left to worry about is resists that cloak looks pretty nice.

Little Balls are used to capture little sisters, which spawn whenever you kill a Big Daddy. All you have to do is (T)hrow the ball at her, no need to weaken her or anything like that. Little sisters are the ONLY thing little balls are good for, throwing them at anything else wastes them.

i haven't played in a while, are exorcism and gentle face still great starting feats?
also can i/should i just use fists

Unarmed is one of the strongest end-game options. However early game you will be much stronger with a weapon, and later with claws instead of empty hands.

Either way, I personally can't stand playing a melee hero because it's too annoying to have to chase down or shadwstep to enemies. That's fine in games with fewer, bigger targets, but when you are killing hundreds of thousands of things it just takes too much effort for each individual kill when you could just spam f or 1.

I'd personally avoid excorsism as a feat just because it's occasionally a good idea to curse things yourself and exorcism blocks most attempts. Anti-curse equipment is still nice to have, but only for convenience. I don't know if gentle face is worth it or not, but if you are melee it might help.

When should I bake new bread and is there any info I should include in the OP?

guide about custom chaarcters (a few posts earlier is an infographic, so that'd be nice)
Also, these threads have been going slower and slower from thread to thread, wonder if it's because intrest goes lower or everybody is farming like mad and have no time for writing shit

Well I'm 13 dungeons into my current nefia fever, so there's that

The main reason I think they were fast at first is because everybody new to the game was asking questions to try and get a good start. Now that everyone knows more there's less to ask and less discussion to be had.

Current one is pretty good I think. Just add this to old threads.

add the map maybe?

pretty soon if its on page 14

Also, having pet with some kind of bolt or something is kinda broken, fuckers kill invisible enemies in blink of an eye.

Most pets can't see invisible any better than you can, a few have it automatically though, the Exile is one of them.

The exile also has the unique flag "cRapidMagic" which allows him to cast any of his three basic arrow spells 3 times in one action, but at 50% reduced damage. It's useful to begin with, but 150% arrow damage pales in comparison to what single bolt spells can do later

There are some equipment that will allow them to see invisible enemies too. I learned by chance that Sense Object also allows you to see them where they are for that 1 turn.

Gave up at 17. Got materials for 38 more potions of potential (just using that as a benchmark)
