E.D.F. 4.1

So I decided to play it and after roughly 9 hours game still goes on.
I thought giant not-godzilla thing was the last boss, but it just went away.
Just how many missions are there?
Also do specific missions drop specific vehicles or it is all random?

98 missions plus DLC

You have no idea what game you are playing user.

EDF!!!

I don't want to spoil it for you but there another bigger not-godzilla later in the game

What the fuck.

Also, farming weapon in this game can be somewhat autistic. Its better if you look up a guide for that so you dont waste your time doing things inefficiently.

It's EDF. If shit isn't getting crazier then the game's over.

Also this shit is pretty unsettling.
I bet people who are afraid of insects just can't play it.
Sage for double post.

user I think you need to stop posting and go back to playing.

(checked)
I mean I was getting kinda bored, because games is samey and repetitive, but I guess I need to playing to see all the cool things huh?
I just wish it wasn't this slow unfolding.

Also why when I point at vehicle and say "mount it" my squadmates say "no can do"?
Is it impossible to get them into vehicles at all?

only ranger and air raider can ride vehicle

I know I mean had a squad of AI rangers, and they refused to mount my tanks.

Yeah it can be but when you get to the sky eaters it picks up again.

AI is shit play on muliplayer if you want team work, the most you get on single player is healing the computer friendly's with health packs when they follow you, heres a tip, when you have teams of AI that act on their own, kill their captain and you can get the rest to follow you.

a.i in this game serve no purpose other than a minor distraction for the enemies.

I quit playing because I have to manually pick up each box to have a decent amount of max health/weapons. Why is that even a thing?

No, their real purpose is singing.

Jesus fucking god.

It's really frustrating in the beginning.
I guess you need to concentrate on them only when you nuke a large pack of mobs in one place.

There's a cheat engine for it picks up stuff automatically but the user who has it won't share it.

naturally the cheat engine that gives you every unlockable is available so if you wanna have instacheese you can do that.

It only gets worse from there. Queen Ants will be the least of your worries.

You haven't seen shit yet.

The first 30 to 40 missions are there to introduce players to the enemies and the arenas, as well as giving the players the opportunity to learn about their movement options and the weapons they pick up. Do you have favorites for each type of enemy? Do you know what you should bring to underground missions? Do you enjoy any of the classes more than the others? If you're playing on hard or hardest (which you should be because technically hard is the medium difficulty in this game) then you should start getting tested eventually and realize this is more of a third person strategy game than a third person shooter.

I'm really bad with bugs but I can handle EDF, in fact it's probably helped me deal with it a bit.

EDF in space when?

Definitely. I had to teach friends to stop destroying building depending on what we're fighting. Destroy the buildings for black ants because they can easily sneak up on you or hide behind them. Leave the buildings for spiders because it's hard for them to get around them and you can go between them to dodge most of the incoming web. Dual wield shields for Hectors to make their pressure useless. Use dual miniguns for Hectors with machine guns and railguns so they can't shoot you back. In this game, fighting enemies on different leveled terrains is a nightmare because you can't even shoot many of them until they get close.

One thing that upsets me is that the Fencer fells useless for some of the missions. Especially ones you have to snipe drop ships. Their siege weapons can't hit shit far away due to the way they arc. I think the Stringer should be given to them in the form of a rail gun.

Probably never, just like the EDF where you play as the air support and their escorts

I love this shit more than anything else, bonus f you are double chaingun fencer.

If you enjoy then game, then when the more ridiculous thing show up it will you more, I recommend playing with friends, if you have none then I'm sure some anons here will be happy to play with you.

His computer shit the bed and he lost it. No one can find this shit on the internet anywhere. It like an x-files case or something.

Great fucking game design right there.
Fucking Lost Planet 2 didn't have this problem as AI mateys were able to handle task as simple as hopping on and shooting shit.

Nigga what? Just go light cannon right hand + blast twin spear left hand, and you're the fastest class in the game by a huge margin. Zoom and boom under the dropship, and boost back and forth while dash canceling using the light cannon (aimed at the dropship interior), and boost cancel using the twinspear while gun is reloading to stay mobile.

That's fine for missions where the drop ship comes to you but there are some where they are far away and the best way to remove them would be sniping them from afar without drawing too much aggro from everything around them. For that you would have to dash into the fray and possibly draw in more enemies than you should.

I would really like to enjoy this game but I have nobody to play with and singleplayer got boring after 20 or so missions. Should I start it up again?

If you have it for PS4 I don't mind playing. I haven't really bothered to trying the PC version though. I don't doubt my PC could run it but I don't know if a cracked version can play online with others.

Exactly what fencer is made for.
Exactly what EDF is made for.

Guess Im gonna stay alone…

Good point. I guess my Fencer still needs more work. What other setups do you use?

When you wanna go really fast, put right hand jackhammer and left hand javelin launcher.
Hold down the javelin's fire, and mash the "boost" button for the jackhammer, and you go super fucking fast since the jackhammer has the shortest weapon fire animation, and it cancels the boosts "wind-down" animation. Plus the jackhammer is one of the best close-range weapons the fencer has.

Just to add to that: the reason going fast in the fencer works so well is that almost every enemy in the game has a short wind-up before they attack, so as long as you keep boosting you're almost invincible (only real weakness is big AoE shit in small areas, like the ant queens, or getting swarmed by too many projectile lobbing fags like the drone ships or later-game wasps).

Do you need to use Steam to play online multiplayer?

I usually use the javelin with one of the rapid fire piercers because of the slide you get upon startup. With the jackhammer I think you have to go to neutral before you can start firing unlike the piercer that cancels the animation at the end of the dash. For jackhammer I usually combine it with a lightweight mortar.

One problem I have is when are shields a good thing to use and what to use them with. I usually use it with the Force Blade or a machine gun with a short rev time.

There's still a decent number of people playing on PC if the full lobby list is anything to go by.

...

No idea if you need Steam or not, would have to test

I usually dont play with randoms but I guess I can try

If you fire the javelin one more time at the end of a dash, it cancels most of the wait time before you can start firing the jackhammer. You're right, though, the rapid fire spears start firing a bit faster than jackhammer, but they're generally worse at super close range melee (significantly less DPS, and doesn't seem to have a guaranteed stun/knockback effect on even small enemies, which ends up getting you killed on inferno).

Just bite the bullet and use CE to give you 60 armor and 20 weapons per every cleared mission once you reach Inferno, it's the second best thing after the auto-pickup

This thing can rectify lots of missions on its own, hell, even alone it's decent because the canon have infinite range, just very slow. If NPCs could get in, there'd be no reason to ever use anything else

Using a reflector is way better, you're only slightly slower but the offensive potential of being able to reflect attacks is insane. It essentially makes you immune to everything as long as you don't have to reload. Except those spider-bots and last-tier flying bots, fuck those

>its right at the start of the dragon levels
Trying to hit anything flying with canister cannons feels fucking hilarious, you have to lead by so far and accommodate for so much projectile drop. The second you come across anything on the ground though those shots just bounce through everything like fucking wrecking balls.

>bees
>earth eaters and their drones
>new Hectors
>new dropships
>dragons
>the EDF starts losing and is fighting against the odds
>hey guys half earth's population is FUCKING DEAD and the world is covered in earth eaters
>the game's tone does a complete 180

I am very excited to see where this goes.

That worked wonders. The worst part was you lost all your momentum so you were a sitting duck for a second. That's enough time for a swarm of dragons or 1 ant to kill you. Just did Monster Party with a group and it allowed me to kite the enemies. As soon as they looked away from me, dual miniguns would come out and sweep a massive group with still some ammo left to protect myself.

Okay how does weapon collecting work in this? I remember trying to collect some of the good shit for air raider on normal and it was just taking way too long. Also I'm pretty sure that weapons aren't shared between all difficulty levels right? What about if I'm playing multi? Will my inventory/characters be the same in multiplayer as in single player? Thanks anons.

Every time you pick up a weapon crate in a level you get a random weapon from a pool whose contents are based on the level and difficulty. Weapons are shared between difficulty levels and between single and multi, but multiplayer lobbies can have weapon level limits so you can't use super high power gear in early game low difficulty rooms.

How the fuck do I beat mission 54?
This game is just not fun.

Go back to some earlier levels on harder difficulties, get some high power vehicles and try it with those. Switching classes might also help, contrary to what their name might imply Air Raiders are probably the worst class for dealing with flying enemies. If you want to stick with them Depth Crawlers and Vegaltas are probably your best bets since the Naegling doesn't do too well in cities.

Try using any Vegalta with Dual Revolvers (Gatlings) and stick a Guard Post M2 and your choice of Power Post on it. That thing will instantly shred anything you look at while shrugging off all but the heaviest of hits.

Are you playing solo? ARs can be hard to work with solo after you start getting into the game.

I don't want to say I have some sense of honor

but that wouldn't feel right to me. It seems fairer to have the auto pick up because technically its only picking up items that I would find if I had the time to hunt down each individual crate.

The way you're suggesting requires that I get a FUCK YOU PAY ME way of getting weapons and armor. It wouldn't feel right.

I spent so much time grinding missions 21(I think) for armor and 81 for weapons that such feelings transcended me, when you start doing 70+ Inferno missions you will NEED every single weapon and a reasonable amount for armor not to mention non-retarded squadmates to have a chance of surviving.

there's a mission later with over a dozen not-godzillas together, plus a mega godzilla at the end
none of them run, you have to kill them all

...

wake me up.jpg

drones , and you don't know the half of it

there are red drones appearing in the base game early, but the DLCs introduces you the red versions of the flying vehicles (the blue-ish drones that appear alongside the earth eaters midgame). They're even faster, have a lot of HP (need two shots of the Stringer J9 in Inferno), deal a shitload of damage that can instant kill you most of the time even with 3000-4000hp

that dragon centipede in EDF2 Portable is some shit too. Been wondering how japanese players could ever play the PSP version of this game.

On the plus side, you'll be getting crazier and crazier weapons. Especially on higher difficulties.

Hard is the golden standard. You get very FUN weapons.
You get even more FUN weapons on higher difficulties.

High-level Tempest is the most FUN on mission 27.

Just get into the cannon arm and go to town!

That thing is a MONSTER

Two nukes were not enough.
The DLC missions are some of the best though and really worth picking up.

Here you can look up the entire droplist for every class weapon.edf.jpn.com/4-1/

I dunno what I expected.

My fellow non-grinding nigga. I look up things on youtube and they're completely useless, any level would be cake if you have 22000 hp

Y'all faggots be blind

...

3k-4k is actually ideal for Inferno levels 1-70~
After that, you'll want a bigger safety net of 6k-8k though.

Should I post table

I spent entire fucking day figuring this piece of shit out and the working solution took less than 10 minutes.
This is not tactical or strategic, there is no skill or thought involved, it's just cheesing the game.
Not sure if I like it at all.

...

C'mon, you don't need to cheese 54 in MP at all.
In SP though? I remember taking at least 30 tries for an inferno clear.

I don't see auto pick up weapons box so it's trash.
Auto picking up armor is blatant cheat and auto picking up medpacks would actually fuck you over.
But missing out on potentially new weapons because mission instantly ends with the last enemy is what triggers me the most.

Funny joke.

ok done what now

Does that work? Cool.
Now open up patreon and release line per month for 20 bux a patron.

Thank you based user

But tactics and cheesing are the exact same thing

NEW GAMEPLAY VIDEO FUCKERS

Ranger movement seems a lot faster than 4.1, even when walking. A welcoming improvement considering its the high risk of getting swarm by bugs

Ranger destroys fences while sprinting, also seems to be a circle that forms around the ranger during sprint that I hope is an aoe pick up. Seems only some weapons can be fired without fully reloading. The particle rifle clearly can but the lightning gun seems to need a full reload before firing again.

Nope, not buying it.
Holla Forums almost memed me into buying the first 4.1 one, and thank god I pirated it first. Fuck that fucking loot system.

Get out

The door to >>/faggotry/ is that way

Well what is it?

I don't see why this game gets so much praise on here.
It's damn-near unplayable because I keep running into bugs that hinder my progression.

Kek
Also a reminder that the faggots screaming at the pickups are casuals and making a big deal out out of something thats not that aggravating.

GIANT FLYING INCESTS

something tells me half the people complaining so much only play or have only played ranger or low level air raider. Of course the other half is probably the usual reddit/cuckchan leaking in.

Got it. Thanks user. I just remember being confused when the game told me I couldn't bring my high level weapons into singleplayer because they were too high level so I got a bit confused.

Stop reusing the same fucking reaction image with the same fucking filename over and over again. You might as well adopt a trip if you want that badly to have an identity.

where is it, user?

Maybe before you reach the point where collecting 60 armor boxes and 20 weapon boxes gives you a less than 1% armor increase and a 5% chance at a new weapon.

Well shit niggas, I've been doing Infernos with just 200-500hp

the fuck? I've been doing normal on co-op with almost a thousand as titty diver, and still having a hard time.

How do I do this user? Please tell me, grinding is the only thing I dislike about EDF.

what class are you?

Did the first few missions on Inferno to get some good weapons in particular mission 2 and 4 and once I got some good weapons was able to play as an absurd glass cannon.

Played as all 4 classes though have been neglecting Fencer a bit.

Da fuck, why did my ID change?

WD is literally easy-mode until hardest 84+ and inferno 11+

Inferno with 200-500 is BS unless he's getting carried or cheesing. Stray ball drone shots will one shot, and laser drone shots are impossible to dodge after .5 sec.

Air units in general are a bitch to deal with but anything on the ground? Not really a problem if you got a big enough gun.

Yea, but that basically means you're only playing missions 1-10. and even with only ground enemies, you can still get swarmed pretty easily unless you're a full dash canceling fencer.

Not really, the Splash Grenade α and Stringer J3 for Ranger, the Lazer Lance X and Geist 3 for Wing Diver, and our Lord and Saviour the 150mm Cannon B Attack Whale for Air Raider has seen me to around 40 solo minus a few missions
The YH3 Dispersal Mortar for Fencer is good and will get you through some Infernos but it doesn't light a candle to the Splash Grenade α which turns the Ranger into a one man walking exterminatus especially in tunnel missions. Not even kidding, once cleared an entire swarm with just one salvo with that thing which boils down to firing it down a tunnel and running as fast the fuck away as the grenades have a habit of bouncing back towards you

Are you playing solo? I'm not familiar with enemy hp/ damage numbers in solo, but I can't see mission 11 (the mass ball drone mission) being possible with that little armor.

Found this gem
wedidit.world/

Looking at the numbers, inferno is easily doable solo. Didn't expect online to add that much hp and damage. Probably shouldn't have too much trouble until 22 (A Trap) or 39 (Inferno).

I source on that pic user, for research purposes

I really love this game, and not just because it's the best alien invasion game ever created.

It's Darwinism in action; less impatient shitters clogging up the rosters means better rounds for me. It's elegant really. Wish it was more active though, needs to go on sale.

This

...

...

That's just about the falsest thing I've ever heard, it's more like

Air Raiders arent named for their A prowess, they are named for their ability to bring fire from the skies. (Air Raids)

...

super slow and bad for collecting crates
Super slow outside of a few variants, namely the flamethrower ones(which are kinda shit)
Thousand times slower than air raider and fencer

Balam can't even fucking collect shit.

I think he mean the ability to adapt, peoples that doesn't know how to efficiently collect loot gonna complaint.

Here is the perfect example how to farm gear like a retard. Instead of bringing wing diver and ranger with 2-player split screen, you play as ranger solo then complaint how its hard to collect loot boxes.

There's a thousand way to farm gear efficiently but if you insist on doing things like a retard, then you got noone to blame but yourself

If you're gonna cheese it by playing 2P with a wing dove you might as well cheese it with CE.

Ever heard the term "instant gratification"?

True aside from the Velgatas which can still pick up shit easily if you know how to jet boost right
[citation needed]

...

Do you also use Railguns for crowd control?

Don't be "THAT kid", user.

Inferno is so piss easy solo it's not even funny. It feels like you're playing with enemies with easy mode stats but while you're wielding inferno weapons.

The stringer one shots dropships for the first 20 levels, the end game assault rifle and it's large magazine can kill 60 black ants without reloading.

...

You just said it yourself, flamethrower vegaltas are for fun and not for actually hard missions.

wew

Hectors, shield bearers, and pretty much everything else have similarly low health. You can reliably solo inferno as a ranger. Fuck even drones can die in 3-4 hits from the AR.

C'mon user, if we're gonna talk about the easy missions then any class should do it

Are you retarded? you can clear any mission with Ranger. You are not at any disadvantage as long as you bring the right weapon for the right mission. However if you want to FARM, then going in solo as ranger gonna be a pain. When farming weapons, you want to do things as efficiently as you can dumbass. So yes, GIT GUD at farming retard

...

Now you are definitely "THAT KID"

anti-cheating fags are pure laffs

...

Only obsessive autists that MUST collect every box will have problems.

Just have fun. The weapons will come. You don't need to collect every last box you see.

PRAISE THE WHALES

WHALES ARE FALSE GODS

ALL HAIL THE TEMPEST, THE ONE TRUE GOD

256 Player EDF when?

Frankly, I have almost the same amount of hours in the 360 version.
I just want to say that I still have trouble with the fucking green ants.

...

I have found that the force ax is so insanely strong against green ants that it will freeze up my computer for a few seconds trying to process how many died in a single charge.
People tend to overlook anything that isn't a blasthole or jackhammer, but the strikers can really get some work done if you give em a chance.

jesus christ

I tried that before, the thing is, when the smaller ones start to throw you around, you have little time to act because of their sheer number. But, I think a bit of training could help.

Learn to dash recover. Shit's required for green ants.

You can also try chain spamming DW finest hammer, but there's a tiny window you can get hit in between armor

Disgusting

what did he mean by this?

...

I'm having fun with the monster sniper rifle. Will I be force to swap it out for something overall more powerful, but without the 1-shot-1-kill role?

There's a upgraded version of the Monster, but it's a pretty late game drop. There's also the Gungnir, which is by far the most powerful of the wing diver's sniper rifles, but it leaves you open for a pretty long time.

How do you guys handle being so slow all the time?

Flying around is bretty gud m80

There are only a few good WD snipers:
Monster-s is the best sniper for wing diver.
Gungnir is unparalleled, but puts you out of commission for close to a minute. It has its uses, but they are few and far between.
Raijin is pretty similar to the Monster snipers, but it's only 1 shot and it's lightning.

Something the game doesn't tell you, is that you regen energy a lot faster when you overheat, so it's sometimes beneficial to overheat yourself.

How do you guys handle the lack of freedom?

Skating is better.

Tanks actually go pretty fast, and you can do some sick drifts in them.

True, but I always get stuck on random non-destructible environment bits.
Though, I really do love the APC I had got. Shitty gun, but fast, and lots of drift.

How do you handle being so small and redundant?

The Tempest is a fickle god that only comes once in a while. But once it comes…oh boy.
Bug Genocide of the greatest scale.

The Whale is a loving god, always there, quick to come to your aid again and again and again.

He's probably not wrong.

That's not the part that bugs me so much as all the "OH NO A NEW ENEMY SHOWED UP WE'RE DOOMED" talk throughout the game.

play with hoomoos (v:

The one true god cannot be stopped by puny earth eaters.

The whale is a lesser god that always finds it's way into betrayers' hands.

So do you guys still play online? I only recently got mine working-ish and played with some randoms.

If I'd known functionality would be this bad, I'd have just gotten the console version.

Been fiddling with the settings more.

Interestingly, my videocard barely seems to notice the game exists. I went into Crimson and my GPU never reached more than 5% utilization. But my CPU cores went apeshit.

This is an AMD FX-8350 (8 cores, 4.0 Ghz) and a GTX 1070 with 16GB RAM. Not overclocked, but cores unparked.

Is this fucking game seriously trying to run on nothing but CPU?

By having a giant ass hammer that makes a massive explosion.

The Whale always comes trough in the end, heretic!

Considering that it's a port of a port from a 7th gen console game with the shit graphics card that entails, yes.

It's obvious in hindsight, but fuck. Not even the logo splash screens on boot run smoothly for me, hiccuping repeatedly.

I've had the same problem as of late. Try it in a window. Recently Windows did an update that somehow fucked up how the game runs and now it'll only run without stuttering if it's windowed for me.

I have been, yeah. It was a very modest improvement. I run a pirated copy of Win7 that has almost no updates and has had its ability to update stripped from it, though, so that new problem shouldn't be mine. I've got an AMD processor though, which seems to be a common red flag, even though mine has the instruction set that was keeping other AMDs from even playing the game at all.

Update: I just updated my video drivers and saw an immediate marked improvement in performance. If it doesn't turn to shit in another run of Crimson, I may try unwindowing it.

Game is running mostly smooth, loading screens included, at full screen with antiscopic filtering and anti-aliasing on. No change in resource monitoring software, but I've tried a couple runs now and it seems the resource-monitoring software itself is bogging the game down somehow.

It makes no fucking sense that a graphics driver update would fix this when the game isn't using the GPU, but re-installing GeForce Experience had me reboot to complete and Windows gave me a very brief "Updating Windows do not turn off your computer" screen where it never has before. I'm thinking Nvidia bypassed my no-Windows-Updates workaround and fixed some underlying problem.

God damn I forgot how much fun this is. Especially if you just don't worry about grinding.

There needs to be a combination of Jet Set Radio and EDF.

...

he's thinking of best girl
