How do you deal with games that are way too long? Do you take breaks inbetween and play something less time consuming for a short while or do you just force yourself to play it to the end?

I make sure to regularly save my game and power off the console in order to perform self-care such as eating, sleeping, using the bathroom, etc.

I did this with a few games. I kinda forced myself to finish EO4, fate, borderlands, and a lot of jrpgs.

Fucking Drakengard I swear

bump

Depends on how invested I am.

If the gameplay is very enjoyable, I'll general beat the main story and ten go back in and do cleanup, then go to a different game.

Depends on how invested I am. I often just drop games that drag beyond the point of enjoyment.

Loli are for pedos

they are for cutr and cuddle

When a game is too long i end playing the skin flute loli™ edition© for a break.

When I'm starting to feel burnt out on a long game I know that if I put it down for more than a couple days I'm never going to finish it. Any time I have tried I would turn it on, play for a couple of minutes, and just turn it off from simply not being invested anymore.

Am I supposed to stay awake for days trying to play through a 100+ hour game? Just stop playing when you get tired and start playing again when you are fine.

Why so little porn?
Does Holla Forums grow impotent?

fuck off pedofsagot ur post has nothing to with Holla Forums

Now that I bothered to read op, it's actually pretty relevant to video games.
Some games are too damn long and outstay their welcome. For example Hollow Knight while good game is like 10 hours longer that it needs to be, and by the end of it I just wanted move on as quickly as possible.

and even with the op, it still has nothing to Holla Forums, and this is still just shit for posting anime cp

Fuck off will you?
Lolies is the integral part of video games.

hollow knight is more like 20 hours too long, the bosses should've been the default enemies and add actual difficulty enemies, what in the actual fuck

I take a break from said vidya and do something that makes me want to play again.

Son, I take it you hate freedom.

Saving that pic.

You don't have to play a game in one go you know. They made something called "save game".

look at this casual

Underalterbach 2 never ever

I play until I get bored then I never touch the game again.

SEE what did tell you op you fucking pedophile, they just spaming shitty cp now

4/10 apply yourself

Took me almost 18 months to finish TW3 + expansions.
Started early 2016 and played up to Novigrad in 2 months (always doing every sidequest + contracts that came up). Then got tired of the game (didn't really like Novigrad) and went on a hiatus until january this year. Picked up my save again and finished the main story + Hearts of Stone over the course of 2 more months. Didn't even visit Toussaint. Went on another hiatus for 3 more months and picked it up again early june intent on completing Blood and Wine. Finished it just 2 days ago (main story + contracts + sidequests).
All in all, while it was a good run, I kind of forced myself to keep playing and completing the game after reaching Novigrad. White Orchard and Velen / No Man's Land where my favorite locations in the game. Toussaint, while I'd consider the next best location after Velen and White Orchard, had lots of wasted potential with a disappointing main story, characters, sidequests and contracts.

I play the game and if i get hooked up i play every day until i finish it, but when i reach what i think may be the final part of the game i tend to stall a lot and just don't finish it for a while, maybe because i liked it and i am one of those guys who never replays games again, or just replays some parts of them. i.e. Dark Souls 3

Now if i feel the game is just not picking up and i ve been playing for two or three 4 hour sessions already i'd probably drop the game at that point i.e. NieR

However i tend to pick the games i drop months or years later and give them a second try and force myself through the game for about 1 or 2 hours a day even if i don't like it, just so that i can say i did finish the game i.e. Tomb Raider 2013

If you know the basic route for the necessary tools you could probably finish the first ending in 5 hours without even rushing. The true ending might double that. Everything else is spent exploring, or being shit at the game. I don't think it's really possible to have too much to explore.

sage

I ve felt like that before, some games feel like they are just throwing you on a grinder and you just want to breeze through to get stuff done, and not even care about exploring the rooms, the final parts of Castlevania AoS felt like that.

It never feels too long if it's a fun game. If it actually feels too long I stop playing. However, if I get fed up with it for a while due to playing it too much I just do something else until I'm up for it again.

It's easy for stuff to not be worth exploring, but I think that's a separate issue. Either it's worthwhile or it isn't, but it's not "too much".

Wait a minute this picture…

Yeah, whatever.
Nobody's buying it anymore.

A game is only felt like too long if it is shit and fails to capture you. I felt like this for most jrpgs that were 40hours each but I played persona 5 for 100 hours in 2 weeks without problem.

I always wanted to know what happened next in P5, but its start is slow as fuck. It kinda pissed me off that you have to enter Kamoshida's palace at least four or five times before you can complete it, not because that's unreasonable, but because the plot essentially doesn't progress in any meaningful way for that long, just to stall for the party to build four members before the first boss fight. It takes like ten hours for what's essentially the prologue to be over.

Oh fuck I made that crop

Final Fantasy XII is so fucking long jesus christ or maybe it's just all the walking and padding, what a horrible game

Yeah, I got really annoyed with the game making you stop progressing in a dungeon just to push the story ahead. I liked Futaba's and Okumura's palaces because you can just do them in a single day if you're really good at conserving SP.

I begin with not having ADHD. It seems to resolve most of my problems related to inattention. Maybe you should try this.

Me changing your light bulb.

I don't

Too many kids in here, here's something better.

I switch between long games and play each in bursts to switch things up. Long games are a best anyway.

I miss /hebe/

me too and i never went there

Binge, burn-out, and never play again.

this is the only way to play games

I just play until I'm bored. There's no reason to force myself to finish a game that's no longer fun.

Kill yourself.

...

i wanna bang tenryuu

NO

Ha

If I know a game is too long and don't have the time ton invest my enjoyment into I play a shorter game.

Sometimes I'll take a break from PC and play my old game systems for a few days to a week instead

No I can't force myself to play video games, either I'm there to enjoy it or I log off and do something else
If you have to force yourself to play vidya rhen maybe it's time to find a less time consuming hobby

It's worse than /hebe/ ever was.

Essential? More like almost every artist out there and still no mention of Lasto!

tenryuu is for cuddle, not fuddle.

why not both

why not both, cocksucker. Shame she's trapped in a shit mobile game though

The new zelda comes off as something I just flat out hate. While I like majora's mask, when it came to doing everything I rather jump off a ciff. That being said. I would pound the fuck out of that man's tight ass, till you could spot his ass from anyway due to how red it is.

Porn ain't video games.

I don't like RPGs

i jack off to a cute girl from the game im playing.

ew wtf

what? it works. sometimes a character you like just doesnt get enough screen time, so you gotta make your own. its not like i can take them on a date or invite them to hang out so i gotta make due with my wiener.

I use cheat devices to remove certain grinds to shorten the length without damaging the challenge (IE just giving myself max money in Faxanadu instead of farming for hours.)

youre a disgusting degenerate pls stop

what? you stop

I've left many RPGs unfinished because I lose interest. I've explained this many times in the past and have gotten many interesting reactions. I once told a FF fanboy in 1999 that I haven't finished FF7 even though I loved the game and played it continuously for months. It just didn't process in his mind that someone could love a game and never bother to finish it.

I recently started and beat TW3. I don't know why but I guess it's one of those few RPGs that held my interest towards the end. I managed to only take one brief break before finishing Blood & Wine which I aimed to completr before going back to finish the main story quest of the base fame, overlevelled and with the best equipment. I have no idea if I'll do NG+ but the temptation is there to go back and do a few things differently.

I had almost the opposite reaction to the parts of the story. While I enjoyed Velen the part of the game I enjoyed the most was the Heart of Stone quest line. Second to that was Touissant. I enjoyed every conversation that Geralt had with Regis and the out of place fairy tale vibe Touissant possessed. I don't think I had any moments in the game where I thought something was poorly handled. The only complaints I had if I had to list any was the odd behavior of the pathfinding with the waypoints and some odd glitches that were supposedly fixed. The waypoints were screwed up all over that one skellige island where you search for Hjalmar. My favorite example of these odd glitches that occur is when fighting a fiend and having the skill that slows combat down when you have toxicity, the fiend constantly triggers it making the entire fight ultra slow. It's amusing until you realize you're almost stuck while fighting it.

If you can't be bothered to finish a game, you don't love it.

This, I love New Vegas but I was too busy fucking around to finish it.

Just play whatever you feel like.
