I mean I heard stories about this game and rumors about the virus but it still caught me off guard and whats even worse I'm not getting paid for doing all this extra work because I'm still a mining captain

...

Well user what all features does it have?

Well, it is a strategy game with animations & a plethora of fetishes (incest, big boobs, mind control, etc). It is basically the 1992 Dune game with porn.

...

Thanks for letting me know it existed.
I uhh… have research to do regarding it.

My ships are slow and expensive. I'm replacing them with cheap, specialized, and slightly faster ships.

There is a thread about it over at >>>/htg/ that you should check out

WHO IN GOD'S GREAT NAME THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA AND SELF DETONATION IS USELESS BECAUSE SPACE AIDS HAPPENS BEFORE THE COUNT DOWN

Hey, is there any sort of automation in aurora, or do you have to autistically manage every single destination for every single ship?

Reminder that Xenogears is just Dune with robots.

Don't fret it, those guys are even worse next time you meet them anyway.
Also a free hint, if you think you can hijack any taidanii battlecruisers, DON'T. Trust me, you don't want one of those in your fleet.

Oh joy

Thanks for the warning user, In fact I just got through the mission after only wasting 10.000 resources and noticing there was a glitch for me that wouldn't activate the cut scene to let me end the mission.

I can understand if I'm doing something wrong and the game punishes me for it and I can understand that things happen in battle and you have to roll with the punches and press on. But this is a whole new level of bull crap that the game is punishing me for when I did nothing wrong and it isn't challenging, IT'S BULL CRAP. I'm enjoying the story so far but this is starting to really get on my nerves now that the fun stops.

Alright my dudes, I'm a guy who makes mods sometimes and I like Star Ruler 2 a lot. However, I've seen that people here and in other places don't like it nearly as much as I do. I'm already working on a sort of mod for it that lets you pick techs to have at game start and gives the AI races some pre-defined ships etc (to get the game going faster and make race differences more meaningful), but in the process I realized that nearly everything about the game can be modded, practically all the game logic is external.

So basically, if you don't like Star Ruler 2, what would make it a better game for you? If I get some good ideas I might try to make a mod around them.

I know about the dune game but what is the one you showed an image for? It has a lot of greenery so it can't be dune yet I want to play it for obvious reasons so I need a name.

Its homeworld cataclysm, have some respect, son.

Read the thread user, he also said there was a thread on htg

You didn't read the books, did you?
Dune doesn't stay a desert planet for very long

I saw the sci-fi mini series
it was awesome

You tell a ship to go somewhere and they go.
You can also set orders for civilian ships, so they can transport your shit for you.

There are two of those, actually. They had a subtle joke about themselves, in the first everyone has really silly hats. In the second, only the people breaking the law do, because paul banned the hats.

Ghanima was my waifu of the series. Alia too. After the series, Leto II is transformed in a worm and rule for a couple of thousand years on Arakis which become a verdant planet. He also become hated by every plans to assassinate him fails because he can see the future and foils them. Seriously, read God Emperor of Dune.

part 4 is the best book hands down. I am on 6 right now and I laughed when I found out there are literally jews outjewing the benegessert

Don't bother with those written by his son, they are garbage. The Dune saga ends with Chapterhouse:Dune.

Fighters seemed useful to me only for missiles and EMP. They get a decent power up later through research. They are pretty useful on escort missions (HINT HINT), but I typically mass frigates until the capital ships become available.

Any ships you can capture (or are gifted to you) that are not Somtaaw are generally inferior to the ships you can build since they do not benefit from your research upgrades.

If I recall correctly there is a pause option, so if you see your ships getting hit with an infection beam pause the game and tell them to self destruct. Only Aids carriers, motherships, and heavy cruisers can fire the infection beam.

I know what mission you are on. As a rule of thumb when playing Cataclysm, do not do whatever the game tells you to do to progress unless its timed.

Send your collectors out, check if there's anything new to research or build, then plan your moves accordingly. I'm pretty sure I was able to use mimics to scout out and trigger cutscenes without alerting the enemy.

Don't forget about the Infection missile which can also infect your ships by colliding with them.

Oddly enough I never had that much problems with them. I suppose its because I massed the Ion frigates and set them all on evasive.

For someone new though, those things are a bitch.

Friendly reminder that Gorn are the best species in the KDF

Shame the game sucks
Star Trek Online is to Star Trek video games what Star Trek Voyager is to the Star Trek tv series.

Nice crew brah. I must admit I had fun with STO back in the days.

I want a Trek game that is like TNG A Final Unity, but for DS9

I have heard that. I still may read some of his history books, mainly the one on the Butlerian Jihad because I am very interested in that specific event in the dune universe.

Why is life suffering anons?

looks decent, I'll try that out

Remember Actor of Mentat Kolinar koltrast is dead and he won't be back

Recently played through Rogue Squadron 2 on the Gamecube (loved TIE Fighter back in the day, although my all time favourite PC space shooter is Freespace 2).

Anyway, the game felt bland and way too cutscene heavy. After about 2 hours through and I had completed the game.

I can't be alone in thinking this is overrated as hell surely?

Why? The game isn't that fun.

Found another alien race in a nebula. I thought they were pre-transnewtonian, so I sent a ground invasion first. Luckily missiles don't work in a nebula and they were not annihilated. They do need reinforcements though for the enemy outnumbers them more and more with every casualty. I'm testing out my new fleet against these guys. Thankfully I kept some beam weaponry instead of going full missiles for this exact scenario.

i like you

Rogue Squadron is heavily overrated, pretty much all Gamecube games were overrated. They were a novelty for the time but that's it.

Sorry user

That was my plan from the beginning, and it only gave me the option to research the drone cruiser after the enemy fleet had already almost killed my flagship

Thanks for the tip user I'll use it if the GAME CAN STOP BEING SUCH A GAYLORD, I didn't even change any settings or do anything on this PC yesterday other than listen to some relaxing tetris soundtracks on youtube and browse a few threads and I did all that when I was playing the game this and last week. This game doesn't want me to play it so I'm gonna play something else.

My humans live in a nebula and missiles don't work there. Lasers are the best way to do things with mesons as back up.

Is Endless Space 2 any good? I heard some rumors that it's way too raw and in need of some patches.

From what I heard, you heard right.

From what I played, the base game is good, but its going to need some more content before it feels feature complete.

Is SpaceEngine ever going to become a game? Why hasn't some rich autist throw a pile of dosh at that beautiful slav?
Well that's nice, at least.

Space Engine with a shitty game tackled on it? It's Elite Dangerous bruh.

It still needs more lewds

Link to the thread?

For you, you lazy baka

>>>/htg/1250

Don't, the event as it is described by Frank Herbert and as it is written by his son are completely different.

Because Star Citizen goyim is the only game you will ever need! :^)

Pretty much.
Supposedly they have yet to flesh out ground battles since they commissioned a 5 minute long track that doesn't pick up till the 1 minute mark by which time most battles are over.

I think I remember the lesson of Frank Herbert's depiction being "the one who creates/codes the machine is really in control" while his son went with the standard only with the robots acting like they were high class.

Bump.
I'm looking for a game that supposedly inspired a large part of Mass Effects mechanics (i.e fly around the galaxy, collect resources, explore planets). It was open sourced and revamped at one point IIRC
it wasn't Star Control

Great, thanks. Next, are there cheats?

Any more info user, release date? graphic styles? platforms?

I remember there being something like that, played it on a GBA emulator.

Not the Precursors is it?

Precursors wasn't open source and revamped, though it fits the description.

spess master

I thought it was or am I thinking of the community mod project thing?
Either way user could probably help by giving us some more details.

also I just wasted the last hour and a half trying to troubleshoot a desync issue in SoaSE with a friend

I just wanna play a video game ffs

I think I've contracted autism.

Sorry to hear that user.
btw, which soase are you trying to play?
Regular, Entrenchement, Diplomacy, Trinity or Rebellion?

The Ur-Quan masers?

"Masters".

Who's the guy in the first pic?

It's Kyle MacLachlan

I never did get what all the fuzz was about with dune.
Its a sci fi setting with almost no sci fi. They fight with knives and by shouting at eachother.
Tech is ignored for the dumbest of reasons, space battles never happen and a handful of unwashed savages who can barely read are somehow the greatest super soldiers ever, because living on the edge of starvation and dying from dehydration your entire life some how makes you better at shooting stuff?
The tech is insane, like afformentioned knife fighting.
Whats wrong with hand grenades? Slow enough to get through a forcefield and will kill anyone inside it. What about crossbows? Hand guns? Why not just slap one of those shields on a tank and simply use it to run over the enemy? Why not use a powerarmor under that shield so you can fight more effectively in close combat? What about poison gas?
Even with a shield like that, fighting unarmored armed just with knives under those shields is still idiotic.

But what I hate most about it, as has no doubt been said many times before by others, its that its about desert dwelling savages who under their religious leader rise up and size the world's fuel supply in order to enslave, oppress and push their religion on everyone else.
And they're supposed to be the good guys.

And then there's those bitches running around openly using their mind control powers to manipulate all the big political powerstructures of the world, and noone ever seems to oppose them? What kind of insane logic has ever emperor ever been running on, since they haven't banned this? What kind of leader can accept that a rival group goes around and mindrapes half the empires noble houses for their own agenda?

Come on user. The fuss about dune is simply that it's a good book. Nothing more. That it's a science fiction book is practically irrelevant.

As I understand it, its basically the source of a lot of fantasy that has a slathering of sci-fi as an icing, but does a bit better at integrating the sci-fi than most my favorite of those types is still Outlaw Star.

They also go over some of those things. Knife fights were because anything too fast would bounce off the shield, this is down to people with a knife could cause that reaction. I think they made some crossbow bolts that could slip through, and obviously handguns proper would be too fast. Poison gas gets slowed down enough that it is one of the reasons Baron Harkonnen escapes a death trap.

The thing that is exceptionally stupid about it is that the reason the fremen were good at fighting on Dune was because they had worms, knew how to deal with them, and were good at knife fighting without the shield. They then go off planet where there are shields and no worms and somehow win? Unless they spammed lasers which is a notably stupid thing to do because a smart tactician can exploit that stupidity to make you nuke yourself, something done in the book, it doesn't really make sense.

No, Herbert's depiction was the reliance on machinery lead to atrophy of human intellect. It had nothing to do with robots.

...

It also uses the retarded
gimmick

its a good book if you like shitty writing with terrible flat characters, yes

Dune was awesome
and I think its because of the bizarre setting, its like medieval spess age

Well it was pretty redpilled, an automated society where the needs and wants of the people are taken care of, can lead to atrophy and degeneration of mankind. And there's the Jews, like Frank Herbert is either an admirer of them or he's pretty redpilled, the kikes still survive in several apocalyptic events in the far future via shady means.

Wew. It's far from shit writing. If you want to read a book with shit writing and flat characters, read Lord of the Flies.

I wouldn't call Dune redpilled. Not any more than most science fiction was. Even Star Trek has the occasional redpill. I think it's simply a truth that fell through the cracks. Truth tends to find its way forward, even in the most degenerate of leftist media.

Weren't the Fremen OP because of the spice, while the Houses take spice as some kind of drug, the Fremen are literally growing up consuming it.

Checks out. Now hurry off to suck whatever niggerdicks you have queued up.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starflight

There is Protostar too

are you kidding? StarTrek had loads of redpills and good stuff, it was however heavily dumbed down for majority of audience

user, I'm sorry to perhaps burst your bubble but Star Trek is full of commie and pozzed shit.
It just has occasional redpills.

Star Trek was perhaps the first television show to go for full diversity although it kind of made sense and was done rather well.

Star Trek advocates communism and it has had episodes with more or less subtle messages that discriminating different subraces (original series had some alien species who was half black half white and had two phenotypes that simply reversed the colors)or sexual minorities is bad (TNG had species where having sexuality was taboo akin to homosexuality)

It’s literally designed as a communist’s wet dream, you stupid motherfucking lunatic.

true, while it might look like a communist agenda, StarTrek was far beyond that, more like Technocracy
truly ahead of its, if you don't know what that is about just googles,
but it touched down to important concepts
like having no money and throwing completely off balance on some of what we consider very normal traditions (like user said about homosexuality, patriarch and whatnot)

I haven't played X3 in about a year, but decided to load up my old LU save on a whim. I don't even remember what most of the hotkeys do, but I remembered how to call in my fleet, only to be greeted by 19 capitals, 9 corvettes, and 122 docked fighters. I don't feel like I am worthy of such power. Do I genocide pirates or something until I get back into the swing of things?

REMOVE KEBAB PARANID

...

What is this UI and where do I get it?

blubb.najut.org/x3/

Any mods what add real lazer beam charging and BOOM…. WWZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

the mod is called go back to reddit

Okay.

Yeah, that's not what we call redpilled. The word you're looking for is cultural marxism. Also, you sound like you're high right now, so I guess you might actually like that.

image just reminded me of how shit beyond earth was

I was going to say that maybe he just enjoyed its exploratory spirit, but he's clearly a faggot. Fuck DS-9, go look at the relationship between Worf and Dax and try not to rage with what you now know. Actually, what non-pozzed scifi tv is there?

The Establishment did nothing wrong. No, don't watch Farscape

Anyone still playing Endless Legend? Now that fireships are nerfed is there anyway to make sea combat not attrition. So it acts more like assembling a death ball of ranged on land?

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

Cataclysm?

Peace? Peace, through purification!

No, Armada 3. It's a Cardassian "Missile" that is warp capable and can blow up moons, AI controlled and often set to "kill Cardassians" mode by Maquis. Will fuck over any fleet save for most dreadnought vessels.

More meat to chew

They look nice, maybe they are friendly?
Better send a lot of unarmed diplomats to establish friendly relations.

So I just looked at EvE Valkyrie. What do you anons think?
steamcharts.com/app/538870#All

No. The Fremen were as strong as they were because they were religious zealots who were hardened up by life on one of the most inhospitable worlds in existence; once they lost their crucible, they softened instantly. The living history of their reverend mothers certainly was a factor, though.

Whatever

Anons I need help finding a space game or hell any game to play, I tried so many games for years but none of them were fun for long or at all, I tried out 4x games like sword of the stars and galciv2 but I couldn't get into them because I couldn't understand what I was doing. I used to love 4x games when I was younger and and ironically less patient but now I don't find them fun or understand them anymore also it seems like it's mostly space 4x games like those I get lost in.

Should I try alpha centauri or something else that's easy to get into?, In my youth I used to be an excellent Commander in 4x games and lady luck wasn't as spiteful towards me but now I am certainly an idiot when it comes to space 4x games. But at least I'm still good at strategy and rts games

If you want some space RTS, then id recommend either Homeworld or Sins of a solar empire.
Both are bretty gud.

So what single player spess game do you guys recommend? I enjoyed the management of FTL and wouldnt mind something with that or even more.

There are not many games with crew management like FTL. For single player I would recommend Freelancer, X and Rebel Galaxy. For a little older, still in the freelance side, Protostar: War on the Frontier, Hardwar, Terminus (often overlooked). 4X style, I really like Star Ruler, Distant Worlds and Galactic Civilization 3 and if you got the 'tism, Aurora 4X. My personal favorite is Distant World. RTS would be Sins of Solar Empire, though with no campaign it can become rather dull in single player, Star Trek Armada is always a safe bet and, of course, Homeworld.

Also if you have a DS, I recommend Infinite Space.

I was playing homeworld but the game wouldn't stop being gay and started glitching out on me and now won't even run anymore and I played Sins to death

What's a better space trucker game? Eve online or Elite Dangerous?

If you haven't played the Freespace games yet, you're missing out

Apple and oranges really. Elite Dangerous is a sterile RNG littered grindfest with barely any gameplay. EVE is a MMO on the decline with interesting ideas but flawed execution. AS for spacetrucking, I had more fun in EVE, ED gets old fast, especially with their netcode which seems to be straight out of a programming sweatshop in India.

Damn shame about ED. It looks gorgeous and it sounds beautiful but then they tack on tedious shit after tedious shit.

Honestly it was best in the beta where there were only a few systems so travelling wasn't so awful and people were clustered together, and there weren't that many ships and no engineers so you didn't need to grind to take part in PvP, a cannon Viper was all you needed. It was great.

The full game just buries the fun behind grinding and it's not really worth it.

X3

Sandro Sammarco couldn't came up with good game design to save his life. The RNGneers are the ultimate testament to that. A mechanic that wouldn't be out of place in a mobile phone game. If this is the best idea they could come up with for a tuning and crafting system, you might as well abandon all hope for the rest of the game.

In the same patch they revamp the mission and rep system but don't implement it for the engineers, the way to rank up stays crafting and trashing mods. Ridiculous.

It's annoying going over to the forums and to leddit and seeing how much he's praised on both places when he's a large part of what's holding ED back from being good.

Plebbit can be somewhat critical, the forums are a lost cause though, I wonder how the console version are faring numbers wise. With all the connection problems, console plebs are not as understanding as pc dads normally.

Who should take over in development?

Maybe they should hire the guys who made The Precursors? That game was like a vertical slice of everything ED should have and be.

Someone who doesn't have a string of failures like Haze under his belt.

So, what are your favourite

Realtime space RTS, Space TBS and Space combat games?

I'd have to go with Homeworld Cataclsym, Master of Orion 2 and Freespace 2 (or maybe tie fighter).

More to the point, do consoles have anything at all worth looking at? Can't imagine not having a mouse for the strategy games or a flightstick for the combat.

Rebel Galaxy is pretty fun and on console too I think.

bump.

Done. I'll attack them when they become powerful. I need a challenge.

F U C K

Why are you still part of the council? Humans don't need Xenos to tell them what to do.

Why is there no game like Elite Dangerous, or FTL where you can make your own ships, Space Engineers style?

Fuck i just want something to fucking do in SE besides smash shit like a nigger.

Make it so you gotta buy the blocks with credits, or you can buy a prebuilt ship for cheaper.

And if you make a cool design you can put it up for sale so other players can buy it for in game credits so you can be like a deep space car dealership.

Then from there you can do space trucking, pirating, bounty hunting, freighter escorts, whatever.

I was doing a evil but still had a good deal of influence so i could basically space jew my way out of most conflicts until i had the death star up and running but i got shoah'd at the last second.

This makes Stellaris a more stable game to commit mass genocide and get away with it. Until synth revolt and a Skynet level of enemy spawns in the middle of your empire amongst undefended core systems.

Too bad you gotta wait until all the DLC is out so that you can get the complete experience

...

Good news is I have spent 16 hours of the day setting up the Tusla system the first major system besides Human. With enough minerals throughout the system, I can set up a new area of operations and a staging area to go further into space. New Earth is running out of minerals and the Human system is all but dry. It takes about 30 seconds to got forward 30 days now.

In bad news Deep Space Nine was taken off Amazon Prime. I barely finished the 2nd season before they cut it off.

Those fucking aliens unleashed these new alien fucks into my territory

Is there anyway you can use that to your advantage user?

Not when my 'allies' traveled all the way across my empire to open up a new jumpgate and unleash these fucks. These fucks will now travel across my empire to get to my 'allies' and while doing so will travel right through 13 colonies and my homeworld.

In what order do I watch LOGH?

The first two movies, then the OVA series as a whole.
Then the two prequel OVA seasons if you want.

The are fighting over one of my colonies. No active sensors, but I can pick up their weapons fire.

tfw crap sensors

Be prepared just in case it starts to spread user,Also is there anyway you can send some scouting ships to see what is going on?

I sent in the first fleet to sift through the system. Came out with 108 POW's from the new alien race. Looked like my 'allies' won the engagement. No other contacts when I was in the system. My allies must have retreated after the engagement. Looked like the new guys lost a couple of ships and the rest retreated.
I would have thought the new guys would have won. They seemed to have gigantic hull mounted lasers by the firepower I was able to see and the scored a few dozen direct hits on my 'allies.' My allies use mesons to go through armor and shields however so the new guys were likely gutted.

How bad is the micromanagement when you operate on such a large scale?

Fantastic user, Can yo interrogate the POWs and learn anything about this new species

First movie, then the main series, then the second movie, then the Gaiden shows.
Last, if you still want to keep on watching, the golden wings (be warned though, it has different actors, different animators and different art style).

The micromanagement isn't too bad for me unless I'm doing everything at once. A few in game years ago I was fighting against an alien fleet, exploring new systems with scouts, geologically surveying every planet, gravity surveying every survey point, building jump gates on every jump point, terraforming entire systems, all the while designing and building new colony ships and freighters to build up new colonies along the Tusla route.
For the fleet engagement I had to set the path my fleet took, get past the ECM bullshit the enemy had by getting closer to the enemy to use my missiles. I had to set a target for every ship in the fleet every 5 seconds, which takes forever. I sent my scouts in to unexplored gates to search the new system. Once the system was deemed empty and without hostiles, I ordered my construction ships to jump the gate and build one on the other end so my scouts can travel back to New Earth for refuel and possible overhaul. My gravity survey fleets would then break into individual ships to survey the points finding new jump points in the system. Process would repeat. The geosurvey fleet would also break up into individuals and search the planets for minerals. I'm currently in a mineral shortage, so I'm planning big things for the Tusla route. I had to terraform entire systems by selecting certain gasses and the amount of gasses to use. It takes forever if you don't watch them carefully and you end up spending more time fixing your mistakes. I got Tusla to have 10 earth like planets. It will be my first commericla hub outside of New Earth. Had to design better and faster colony ships and freighters to send colonists and mines to the new planets. I fucked up on the path of one freighter fleet and they ended up dead in the water a few dozen billion miles from the nearest colony. I forgot a Lagrange point when setting up his route. Right now I'm just letting things go until there are enough people and mines on the current planets before moving on to the others. Now if I had a commercial hub outside of my homeworld, imagine doing all this for that one as well.

Interrogations happen randomly when picking up pow's. I didn't get any interrogation notifications this time, but I have been given maps of enemy systems and designs for enemy weapons before. I can kill one of the prisoners to find out what climate tolerances they have. This would give me an indication of what planets to look out for when entering a new system.

How are Distant Worlds and Aurora in the alien/culture design and politics creation? Havent played either them and Stellaris, but in Stellaris, I can see a decent empire/race creator, and there are mods to expand it. I want to have many and varied options about politics, race traits, culture and stuff. Any game that have these that I should know?

Thanks both of you.

Just found a download link to Birth of the Federation on /strek/
armadafleetcommand.com/get-files?cw_action=fileview&file_id=1958

You can literally unleash biological weapons on the Ferengi killing hundreds of millions and blame the Federation for it.

Going to upload Klingon Academy, Birth of the Federation, and Pulsar Lost Colony again.
Should all be uploaded within an hour of this post.
volafile.org/r/ck47j5am
Unfortunately if you are asking how to install these you're on your own cause I am not sure myself

Wrong.
Wrong.
Wrong, and most people can't detect subtlety.
Nice bait, user.

Thanks user

The way I see it:
Distant Worlds is a lot about flat simulation, with no actual customization for aliens, outside of file editing, which is at the very most tedious, and still offers nothing as far as culture is concerned. It contains all the small bits and pieces with which to set up large interstellar populations, and then manage them in slight ways, but nothing beyond this. most of the meat that I've seen in Distant Worlds comes out of the ship design, colonization to a lesser extent even with everything that goes with it. Still it has even a meager amount of that something that makes my brain concoct an interstellar political structure that in the game doesn't actually exist outside of the small number of diplomatic interactions with AI. It's shallow, but wide as somebody once put it, and that's exactly what it feels like, with a few potholes here and there representative of the ship design.

Aurora is autism, and I've only played just enough to actually understand that I don't have the required autism to lock into it, or that it's deceptive in its autism, I do not know. For the alien customization, it is little, as its focus does not lie on that at all, but literally every fucking thing else. I enjoy many of the mechanics though, the slight overcomplication giving some feeling of actually doing something, but really if you're looking for culture, again it's all in your head.

Stellaris is a mess. As neat as some of the presentation in Stellaris can be, and the amount of customization for species, which given the number of mods enhancing and expanding it, the base clearly isn't enough (for example I would really enjoy if species had options for tangible physical traits). For the actual quality of the gameplay mechanics behind the traits and other things that go into the customization of a species in Stellaris, it is again, woefully lacking, as effects are near meaningless in the great span of things, and it serves more again to stimulate your brain into convincing itself that something actually has merit, when in fact it does not. It's pretty, it has, again, a nice presentation, but there is nothing there in the end, leaving it feeling empty (even aside from the actual total emptiness of much of the game itself). Oh, and as for cultures, again it's all in your head, but at least you have a stat to look at so you don't forget.

Oh, but I should add for Distant Worlds, the end game goals, if used, do add at least a little something to how you play, up to a certain point.

Here is the BOTF guide since I can't be bothered fixing it.

Bump.

For those who played Homeworld and watched BSG, the original Hybrid is the voice actor of the Bentusi, both Unbound.

speaking of terraforming, i've managed to make Titan more habitable, currently colony cost is 1.44 only reason why I even began to build in there was the fuckhuge Duranium deposit besides from dangerous gases like methane, bromine etc, does others have any other effect, like water creating hydrospheres for instance?

Did we ever find Mandate shill's body?

HE WHO CONTROLS THE SPICE CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE

...

The heartplugs the Harkonnen used were seriously fucked up. But an easy way to punish failure, I guess.

Shame I can't find a good copy of the cat scene to convert.

hadn't noticed this, mind status: blown.

What do you call the fuel all travel depends on? What do you call the desert dwelling savages who control access to said fuel, and thus can impose their will on anyone who wants said fuel? What do you call the religion they use to justify doing this by following the word if the prophet?
The metaphor is pretty blatant and heavy handed, and that the story tries to pass these guys off as the good guys is insane. Just like trying to justify them as being superior soldiers because they are almost starving constantly and have to drink their own piss to survive. This apparently makes them skilled marksmen and their officers good tacticians. Ethiopia must have one hell of an army then…

Water is one of the best greenhouse gases in the game. It doesn't do anything special beside raise the temp more.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FEW STO PLAYERS IN HERE

The phoenix packs are back and also the season 14 is coming this October AND Dominion related expansion coming next summer.

fucking FINALLY

Looks like they are reopening the dominion war. Or they will be opening the gamma quardrant to players with the dominion as a playable race. Either way, should be good times.
And unless I'm blind, that was Geordi being beamed down in that trailer.

More voiced content then.

I never liked the Dominion. Their empire model is too prone to failure.

LeVar is confirmed to be returning as Geordi for a new featured episode coming soon, The Nexus has returned like it was supposed to during the year that STO currently takes place. I want this Son'a dreadnought when they eventually give it away as an R&D box promo.

I think it actually started that concept.

bump in memory of Duke Leto
also what's your ship-fu, lads?

Like you don't believe in the Founders?

God damn it.

Wow Piccolo really let himself go

Why

isn't birth of the federation free now?
I was watching a play-through of it on the yogscast, and it is surprisingly good for its time

That's a link to the download for it user, yes it's free.

I'd like star ruler 2 if it was star ruler 1.

I've asked because user mentioned he was going to upload it

I am in the process of reuploading it, although I would recommend this link if you want to download it right now:
armadafleetcommand.com/get-files?cw_action=fileview&file_id=1958

I want stellaris to be good damnit, it scratches my 4x itch I haven't been able to scratch since SoaSE or GalCiv but it's so bad.

Just wait 4 or 5 years for all the DLC to come out.

I fucking hate paradox.

its basically alpha "early access game"

From what it looks like the next update will finally change the retarded logic of spamming naked corvettes by buffing destroyers and making upgrades vastly cheaper so effectiveness rises faster than cost.

Normal settings will also cut the spawn rate of habitable planets in half(!).
I fully expect the new machine civilisations to be fucking broken under AI control but otherwise it's a move in the right direction.

Turns out I was think about both Noctis IV and Starflight.

I started a new campaign in Aurora based around 4 different empires in Sol. One on Earth, one on Luna, one on Mars, and one on Europa. I'm currently duking it out with Luna. Their missiles are shit, so I don't have to worry too much. I set them as a Feudal government and that really lowered their tech. I'm going to try to get Mars to side with me for now.

This

Everyone talks it up as some kind of excellent fan-made sequel to FS2, but it's like 100% Ayy Lmao hippy spritualist bullshit, alternate reality jumping, wall of text, muh bullshit.

And then the sequel slows down on the Ayy lmao a little and quadruples down on the poz. Muh evil GTVA victimizing muh poor feminist space communist buddhists. And some ridiculous captain planet fans jump in too because why not. Even years ago when I was a good little social libertarian, I found it unbearably preachy.

The actual gameplay was decent (a-hyuk) I guess, aside from that, all I really liked was the art design of the (two) earth capital ships, and even then, they look ridiculously out of place. pic related.

Yeah, while I love rotating sections, it doesn't make any sense/fit freespace given that Sol and the GTVA have only been out of contact for 50ish years.

The new GTVA ships also don't grab me in the same way some the iconic ships from FS2 do, like the Deimos class or Orion's

Well duh, how do you improve on perfection?
An orion bursting out of its jump field with triumphant fanfare can still send a shiver down my spine.

The Saturn Collective and Luna Dominion have sided with each other against Mars. There is now a battle over Luna. I'm helping the Martian navy with with missile artillery, but no alliance has been formed.

Remove Saturn.

Battle over Luna is done. Mars slaughtered the Europans and have now traveled to the Saturn Collective's territory to conquer them. War in the Sol system was brief but fierce.

The Fedayeen are the most evil faction in the whole BP lore, and the UEF hippy elders are trying to enact a plan to mass mind-upload the entire human race without their consent. GTVA are literally the good guys in this mod. You're playing from the UEF's perspective. You're not obligated to sympathize with UEF.

Agreed. It's so pretentious is hurts.

There's an entire megpack with updaed graphics and mod, but what mod to activate?

Ultimate Mod sounded good, but I noticed they removed the Galaxy-X (HERESY!!!)

Why is it in general the best Star Wars games don't seem to focus on the Jedi or Sith that much? Same thing with Star Trek, games that focus more on other races are often a lot better than any focusing on the Federation.

Because Star wars's best feature isn't the Jedi or Sith It's the setting, I mean I only got into the star wars because of the Clones and stayed for the lore. Stormtroopers are great too

I just really want another republic commando.

Clones and storm troopers were definitely the best thing in there.
Too bad we will never see again tacticool clones a'la Episode 3.

I think I am wasting my time, but my soul says otherwise.

Jedi were a lot better when they were rare and their involvement as a small but important part of a larger world/conflict. They also add bullshit that can get irritating.

The federation are just kind of boring, as they are Space Swedes.

OK, the people making mods for BOTF are retards that can't balance for shit.

My user of great taste

Star wars the clone wars had some pretty great episodes with the clones, Like space nam

If anyone couldn't get NGO from the starsector forum before they took it down:

anonfiles.cc/file/9a27f4059acffd666ba27c64211b48e0

NGO?

New Galactic Order aka nazis in space

Why was it taken down?

What do you think? Thin skinned manchildren. I guarantee you no one would bat an eye if someone made a communist mod. I know I wouldn't give a shit either, at least.

...

...

The Martians have betrayed Earth and attacked the Luna Penal Colony shipyard. They are attacking Earth with missiles. I think I may lose this battle. 43 million dead so far.

You don't have any missile defense systems or any kind of defenses?

My beam defense stations, three 30 twin turrets, can't deal with the immense firepower coming my way.

man large scale combat is always so goddamn fucking retarded in Starwars.

Why did you leave our main planet with no defense fleet user?

There were 2 fleets in orbit. Wiped out early in the hour. You can see them in the second pic.

Couldn't you have built some sort of fortress Ala Iserlohn or guyerburg?

fuck, now I remember why I thought this was so fucked up, so bizarre out of nowhere
Sting though

is it just me, or were those old movies much funnier than what we get now?
or maybe is this just a generational thing?

A generation of thin-skinned faggots are too afraid to play the fool.

That's because your soul is autistic.

Space Threads need a game to play.

Whatever happened to the Elite Dangerous faction some guys where working on? The 8th Pilot Syndicate or somesuch.

Technically they are rare, it's just that the Jedi Order is pretty good at recruiting and is aligned with one of the major powers. That and the fact they sent Jedi as leaders of their millitary makes them super visible despite the fact they are only less than a million in a galaxy of trillions.

I asked the creator if he plans to add an alternative ending where you could choose Jessica as your wife and rule over the universe with her.
But no, that's not a project because he doesn't want to go that far with that.

You mean science-fiction games.

...

Stellaris IS good, for what it is anyway,
and like the other user said, it scratches right up my 4X itch

you guys no notion of what a major undertaking it must have been for Paradox, since its completely new genre of game apart from their usual historical strategy
and its a good thing they will keep jewing out dlc, because it means they keep polishing and improving it, and no, they can't divine how to make the best game, the feedback is useful
and lastly, they seem to have fucking learned their lesson not to jew out dlc too much like they used to do with CK2

Wew lad

Nice try Johan

the ferengi would approve of their ways

Stellaris has the POTENTIAL to be good.
Years later and it still has barely any content so I wouldnt get my hopes up.

< nah, that game is shit, I hate it….
hold your autism there cowboy

Fuck. I play BOTF: All the Ages - with modified ships for movie feel/balance. Ships are far more expensive to maintain, but more powerful. The battles also look better as ships don't have 20 phasers, rather from 1-3.

Alas, to my dismay I found out hat the AI cheats like hell (seems to ignore upkeep and somehow has 100 ship when I struggle to build and upkeep 20, and I have a better economy!) and doesn't know any other tactic other than "death ball" - which combined with the first problem means singleplayer isn't satisfying at all, since you can't fight the deathball, so you play cat-and-mouse abnd try to do more damage without actually fighting his fleet.

That's pretty good b8 user

Are we ever going to get a proper LOGH game that isn't some autism simulator?

...

Not necessarily, but someone claiming a half finished pile of DLC fodder is good, is certainly posting bait…

...

For anyone who even cares slightly about E:D here's an update.
The beta for the long awaited 2.4 update, which should finish (fucking finally) season 2 and herald the return of the Thargoids, starts on the 17th of August, it will began as a closed beta to those who have previously paid for access and eventually will become an open beta before release. Fdev has already said the beta will contain no Thargoids and that all of that ayylamo will start (and be released in stages) after release.
This is probably to prevent canonn and other groups from figuring out the entire plot and mystery within an hour.
In more current news which may be hinting at shit coming in 2.4. the Thargoid bases have been confirmed to be growing out of the ground (possibly into capitol ships) for anyone wondering their secret was worked out a while ago and they point to a currently permit locked system. Besides that the capitol ships themselves have been seen to be moving, as Fdev have in no way attempted to fix this it's probably a broken implementation of movement for them. Which will probably lead to cap ships fighting each other like they do in the trailer and possible the alien cap ship as well.
And another nail in the coffin, a running rumor is there will be 10 new engineers in 2.4 so here's hoping the new weapons we need to fight the Thargoids are not locked behind them. protip they probably will
Finally a reminder that the Quince system is still generating scanning missions on mass worth millions each that all ask you to scan a single location on the planet right next to the station. Only a single srv scan is required then you can suicide back to the station in your sidewinder. It's also still generating shittons of passenger missions worth millions to a single location in system as well as massacre missions worth millions if a war is going on.
Highly recommend a visit before it's probably fixed/nerfed in 2.4

I mean from the perspective of the story/audience. It might really be rare in the lore, but if there are a lot of them in the story, it doesn't feel rare. Plus there is the fact that nobodies immediately recognize jedi and their weapons in the prologues while in the original trilogy an imperial officer, who should have known about Jedi tricks seeing as how blatant they were in the clone wars, shit talks Darth Vader to his face.

There was a systematic effort by the Empire to wipe out the Jedi, and presumably suppress knowledge of them. It makes sense that imperial officers may not know much about the Jedi given that nearly 20 years has passed since the Empire began and people probably didn't see much of the Jedi anyway.

That's cool and all but are they cutting down on the tedium at all?

Probably not till post 2.4. Fdev have realized locking themselves into season 2 instead of improving the grindy shit to be less grindy was a mistake and have confirmed a set of updates next in line will "go back and fix core features".
If you haven't played recently they've made engineers a little less "tedious" at least for most basic engineering. All materials drop in sets of 3 and where you can find them is more explicit. The actual physical commodities that used to be necessary have been dropped as well until Fdev find a way to let you store them rather then being forced to carry them in your ship everywhere.

There was like a thousand? Maybe ten thousand at most Jedi in the Universe? In a Universe with millions of planets and trillions of inhabitants?

It's probably on /clang/.

Thank you

bump

Truly this is the best class of Federation ships.

Why don't we make a Star Citizen clan then?

...

playing with extended universe, any hints to make the game even confyer?
eg at the moment, this music is driving me crazy

Is the new masters of orion any good? I'm generally sceptical of new additions to older series.

It's pretty mediocre in my opinion.
The combat can be set on "turn based" (it has a timer and stops the game every few seconds to make it look like a turn) or it can be played in real time.
Combat space is two dimensional with a bit of fake 3D thrown there with the ships being able to fly above or below other ships if they get too close to each other.
You can control your ships pretty well and pause the game to give orders to them, you can set engagement ranges and behavior as well as formations and you can also dodge some of the weapons by ordering ships to move out of the way of a slow ass projectile coming your way.

Ground combat is non-existant, you can bombard the planet and send troops if you have troop carriers and each time you use troops a troop carrier is used up, so you need to be making those constantly if you want to invade places.

Movement in strategy map happens between hyper lanes and sometimes there is a wormhole on a system that is linked to a hyperlane and you can then use that to go to the other side of the galaxy.
This does make your colonizing a bit more strategic as you might want to close several bottlenecks and then colonize the area you have available for yourself.

Research is your regular research tree, there are sometimes techs you gotta choose over other techs once you have researched a certain new tech, but you can trade technology with other races so that is all fine and good.
Trade agreements are basically a flat money production increase that happens both to you and your trade partner, also in order to start trading both you and your partner need some money, so if your trade partner lacks money, you can gift some and then make a trade accord with them.

Planets work in a way that the more buildings you have there the more pollution they produce and more workers you have working on hammers, the more pollution they create.
There are atmosphere scrubbers and other buildings that can take pollution down, but id recommend specializing your planets.
Make bigger planets your shipyards, build as much construction related stuff on those as well as atmosphere scrubbers.
Also build always money producing buildings and few happiness producing buildings on all planets because just like in Civ V, happiness is a factor in this game also.
Also, space stations in planetary orbit give you more fleet power (you can have more ships) and there is something defending your colony.
Also orbital structures don't produce pollution, but they are mostly defensive facilities like a missile satellite and a laser satellite.
You can and should build battle stations at lane entrances to make unwanted ships unable to enter your system and enemy fleets have something to fight with before getting to your planets.

So, like i said before, the star systems are connected via space lanes and each star system has a star and varying amounts of planets.
There can also be asteroid belts and gas giants but with enough tech you can turn even those into planets and then terraform them.
The more terraformed a planet is the more room there is for colonists, same with the size but with size also comes gravity which can be normalized with a specific building that you research over time.
Depending on your starter species, your folks might like high or low gravity and specific biome, but as time goes by you can terraform stuff to more your liking, while your colonists are already on the planet.

tl;dr: It's pretty mediocre, doesn't do anything too innovative or new but plays competently enough.

Fug, i forgot to talk about the ship making in this.
Your ship has two different "looks" to it that you can choose from and that's about it for visual differences.
As for weapons and other such, well the engines are a thing that are there automatically and can be upgraded as your tech level increases, weapons can be picked and chosen from in a list at ship designer.
All you gotta worry about are weight of the weapons and how much your ship allows for additional weight.
You can pick how many guns of specific type there are as well as after research pick some additional traits for the guns, like AOE damage, shield piercing, rapid fire, high yield and guided.

Oh and the ships are differentiated by class (civilian ships and military ships) and military ships per size (Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, Battleship, Battlecruiser and Doomstar)

We have an E:D group if you're interested, Although most of us are waiting for 2.4 to drop and have left our player faction to do it's own thing for the moment.

Game is on sale for 33% atm too.

Thanks for the big answer. I guess I wasn't to far off in thinking that it is kind of lackluster so maybe I'll give it a miss. What about homeworld: deserts of kharak? I just saw that it's a prequel to the other homeworld games that I've been meaning to play.

Human ships are so ugly

If star citizen comes out with a quarter of the features it promised will you play it?

Yes cause a friend gave me a starter ship for free and I want to fly the fucking space Boeing.

Deserts of Kharak is a game every lore nerd is going to hate.
It completely rewrites the story on how the guide stone was recovered and the tale about the political situation on the planet at the time as well as raising the Kiith Gaalsien from a somali pirate threat level to highly advanced tech wielding orc horde of zealots.
Also land carriers.

Gameplaywise its basically a 2D homeworld, the fighters you can get are a squad you summon on the field to perform an air strike and that's about that.

It's pretty evident that the game was supposed to not be a homeworld game prior to gearbox joining hands with the devs and letting them use their old IP to make a new homeworld game, even though this game probably would had been infinitely better as a non-homeworld game.

Returning to the lore for a bit, remember how in the old lore world was in semi-uproar over the discovery of the Khar-Toba? Well here we have a fucking world war between the northern coalition and the Gaalsien and we end up nuking them pretty hard during the campaign via a combination of our own weaponry and a Taiidan orbital Ion cannon satellite.
Hell, we even discover a wreckage of a Taiidan carrier in the desert from which we grab the controller unit to the ion cannon and then use it.

Land Carriers, you say?

Yeah, the coolest thing about it is that you have to allocate energy to different systems and cant just throw full power on everything because you either lack generator power or you start over-heating.

Those things are the only interesting thing on the game.
Lore wise, the really painful stuff isn't just the Gaalsien super tech.
Its the planet covered in half buried Taidanii ships that everyone has somehow forgotten by the time Homeworld rolls around. Noone's bothered looked at the tech of the guns, the designs, the engines all that shit. No no, you have to research that shit in homeworld.
Also, despite the wrecks being obvious to anyone who comes across them, sticking hundreds of meters out of dunes and shit, somehow NOONE HAS EVER NOTICED THAT THEY ARE THERE?

And why are they all hellbend on leaving Kharak behind in Sands of Kharak? Why not use all this abundant power and supertech to try to make the planet habbitable or build habbitats in orbit for people and growing food? Building a supership to try and evacuate people from the system just seems like a retardedly costly and stupid thing to do.
The original homeworld has none of the urgency of evacutating the planet. It was an experiment to make a ship to colonize the stars with the tech they found in the original crashed mothership.

I'd still like to see a Homeworld based MMO where you control a small fleet of ships instead of the Elite or STO style where you only fly one ship you directly control.

Do you have to board flip for the passenger missions? I just logged on and in about 20 mins made 16 mil from the scan missions. Haven't done passenger missions since they "fixed" them.

thanks based Lynch

They're generated just like normal missions so probably, ofc make sure you're looking for them in the passenger's lounge that's where they put them.

Yeah I know to go to the Passenger Lounge. I was just wondering if the missions that go to the visitor beacon a min away are still there. After the last major update all the in system missions for quince disappeared. I guess I can go have a looks see.

They're still fiddling around with what should be core game mechanics (colonisation/planet types), the economy is the game is terribly simplistic (minerals rule, energy is only relevant for fleet upkeep all things considered) which isn't suprising given that the only PDX game with a complex economical model was Victoria and the guy who did it left the company some time ago IIRC.
Diplomacy is breddy bad, espionage doesn't exist and there will most likely never be another set of ship graphics because too many people bitched about the price of the Plantoids pack due to the effort of modeling so many combinations (lel, ever looked at what SotS brings to the table?).

Stellaris can be a nice little distraction but is ultimately lots and lots of wasted potential.

When are 5 faggots going to play Birth of the Federation together?

Ok, you are either psychic, working at cryptic or just know them well enough by now.

arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10609304

Sarcastic comedies stopped being funny to people for some reason.

Its not the comedians exactly, its the audience who thinks punching down is suddenly taboo.

I want to Klingon, what Trek games are fun.

STO with a klingon char, Honor Guard, Klingon Academy and any game with trek mods for klink ships.

...

Sucks that list is so small, I would love to see a modern 4x Star Trek game, flight sim, ship management game. I guess I'm stuck playing STO or Academy if I want to get my klink on.

Hurts so much to know that 343 ruined the series.

I just know them well enough by now I guess.

Did anyone ever find the standalone song to this?

I know how you feel user

Here you go user

Nah I've seen that one, I want the song without the sound effects.

Withholding the fact it's a 2-D game how much depth is in Endless Sky?

ie can I be a space slaver?

never really got into Halo, what am I missing?

very subjective, any other user have words on it?

Its a shitty porn game in flash that has an absolute minimum of thinking or actually doing anything. Wouldn't want too much hassle getting in the way of your porn featuring women who all look like lampposts with ballons tied on.
Basically, its shit, unless you're a horny teenager with no grasp of what female anatomy should look like…

thanks user, that settles it…

What the fuck is this site coming to.

It's a good FPS series. Halo 1-3 had great campaigns and multiplayer. While it's a modern FPS, in the case of Halo it's not a bad thing because of how fun and well-constructed the games are. It helps too that Bungie are developers with real passion right from the very start. Vid related. Also, ignore DWTerminator's review of Marathon and play the series and see if you like it. It has some bizarre and annoying level design but the gunplay is some of the best in a 90s FPS.

Minor correction: Halo was revolutionary for FPS's when it came out, 2 and 3, not so much.
Halo did introduce fps stables like generic space marines, weapons that look and sound like toy guns, shields that regenerate in seconds so if you get shot you can just sit down behind cover and suck on your thumb until the boo boo gets better, the single most bland and uninteresting character in computer game history, a plot ripped off from Ringworld and Aliens, and more whiny 12 year olds on voice chat screaming obscenities and trying to talk 1337 than you can shake a stick at.
I wish bungie had stuck to making Myth games. Myth II Soulblighter is one of my favourite old strategy games. That series did not need to die so they could keep crapping out mediocre FPS games.

comingo to people who triggered by punctuation!.

Doom did it first, and they were inspired by Aliens anyway.

Doom had the original Space Marine in fps's true.
But after doom, we got all kinds of protagonists, Duke Nukem, that quake guy, hillbillies, lo wang and that guy who needed a phd in paricle physics to push a cart into a laserbeam.
After Halo nearly every single FPS that came out had a generic space marine guy as the protagonist. And Halo's was one of the blandest ever made.

I really liked Myth, they had a good story and interesting world going on. I even liked Myth 3's story even though the actual game was an unplayable mess.
Shame Bungie lost their rights to the franchise when Microshit bought them and was only interested in Halo.

Sounds like you keep identifying really uninteresting video game characters that pre-date Master Chief, who as least has a name you can remember.

For the record, quake guy's name is Ranger.

Yep, but being unable to remember his name is a sure sign of being uninteresting.

Also I'm not so sure about the whole "we got a bunch of space marine shooters because of Halo" claim because it seems to me we had more of a "modern military" trend that took over the industry for a while instead.

Gears of War
Crysis
Haze
Time Splitters
Unreal II
Turok started out as a native american but was turned into a generic space marine in latter games
Alien Vs Predator
Alpha Prime
Rage
Killzone
Breed
Bulletstorm
The list goes on for quite a while.
And that's just counting FPS's and not including 3rd person shoots and rpgs.
WWII and modern soldiers shooting terrorists make up much of the modern FPS industry, true, but a conspicuously large number of power armored space troopers also make that list for many of the biggest franchises in the FPS market. And much of that was due to Halo's financial success, much like how Medal of Honor and Call of Duty make the WWII and modern shooters so prevalent.

It's for the best I suppose, I would have whaled hard for Oberstien

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed.

Gonna go make the new thread right now

Anons get to the new thread, I'll stay here until it is sunk because an OP must go down with his Thread

Hate to break it you, but Mittermyer is the one holding the flowers.
