For Persona 1, I found the PS1 theme to be better for the high encounter rate and the shortness of battles. With Lone Prayer, it gets repetitive hearing the slow start of the song over and over after getting into multiple random encounters. The PS1 battle theme on it's own is pretty weak and Lone Prayer in an not in game context is better than it.

The PSP games soundtracks only had like 5-6 songs on them too, they got boring as fuck fast.

I still find the Boss Battle music to be a lot better on the PSP. This and Pandora's theme are really good. For some reason they decided to have the option to change OST's in the P2 PSP version where they didn't change much of the soundtrack, but not on the P1 Port.
