Watering down the message isn't going to get you anywhere at worst it will just mean you become the tail to some centrist neoliberal at best it means supporting some social democrat who will sell both you and the workers out. Then you'll be really embarrassed when the workers ask you why you didn't see that coming.
And when people can still be convinced social democracy is tantamount to communism then things definitely aren't going to shift to the left when that happens.
I looked it is about 1-4 million but that is for an annual display. Something controversial wont need to stay up more than a few days to a week to get massive attention. If there is a way to buy short term adspace it might be able to obtainable even in Time Square.

If we could manage to get $4000 together for a two-day ad over a big holiday like the 4th I think the dividends from the salt alone would be worth it. I would think though that these ads are bought and planned months in advance but I've never even hung a poster much less bought a billboard somewhere.
Getting that big a billboard up is gonna cost way more than 4k.

By all means, speak as radical and criticize the current establishment as much as you can. But trying to get people towards socialism is best done by emphasizing the definition of socialism, not by saying just "higher wages, bigger cages, longer chains", or saying USSR didn't do everything wrong.
And then you give examples of systems, like democratic confederalism and luxemburgism and the like.
Then again, I'd call myself libertarian socialist in that situation. You'd attempt to excuse fucking pol pot if push comes to shove, I imagine.

I was taught in school that in communist countries the party dictated where you lived, what job you did, and who you married, and that all your possessions belonged to the state. This was like 10 years after the end of the USSR.
If you went to North Korea some of that is true.
But the USSR didn't do everything wrong. Sure, it messed up a lot, but allowing this liberal propaganda against it to stand still discredits leftism as a whole. We'll remain permanently associated with a society you'll allow people to believe was an utterly dystopian hellhole where everyone was miserable.
Luxemburgism isn't even a system of government, and the DemCons have yet to prove they're worth a damn. I personally believe they'll end up quite capitalist if they survive.
