You can do optimization to try and help it, which there's a lot of optimization you can do with Crystal and unused junk you can either make usable or trash for better things. Prism was able to get Crystal to run at a full 60 FPS.

In Gen's 1+2, no. Not even in Gen 3. It was only in Gen's 4 and 5 (particularly 5) where how good Dragon was came into light.

The type itself was good (Resistant to 4, and only weak to 2) but by no means OP at first glance. The problem was that Ice, what was intended to be it's big weakness, fucking sucks, especially after Gen 2 and beyond. If Ice was given some slight buffs it would've been perfectly fine.

The biggest problem with Dragon in the early gens though was that there was barely fucking any. In gen 1 it was just Dragonite, and in 2 it was Dragonite and Kingdra.

Also the fact Dragon is weak to Dragon didn't help out with the fact that in the first gen the only dragon move was fixed damage, and in the second gen there were 3 dragon moves. Twister which was useless, Dragonbreathe which was mediocre at best, and Outrage, which was good but only Tyranitar, Dragonite, and Charizard had it, and all three could afford better moves.

In short, with particular regards to the early gens, Dragon type was just a mess. The fact they were so reluctant to give it out to pokemon or moves didn't help. Ghost was sorta in a similar boat.

Actually all the Kanto routes have been lengthened back to their former Gen I size, with a ton of alternate routes added, and visual flare added. Also that's an old image, this is a sorta updated one, but it's missing a few areas, like Whirl Islands and the Cerulean Cape. It's also missing The third region, Orange Islands

Fucking this. The guy who is making it is absolutely on point in terms of game design and writing. The new features and events that are added are almost fucking seamlessly implemented. The way he handled Lyra from the remakes is actually better than the remakes themselves did both in terms of writing and presence in the story as an amazing foil to Silver's total douchebaggery and every time I encountered her I got legit fuzzy feelings and felt excited as opposed to HS/SS where she was just boring filler.

The stat/move changes actually make using a lot of pokemon more fun to use. The extra difficulty boost is not so outrageous as you needing to grind the fuck out of everything but the gym leaders can tear your asshole open if you are careless with some of their new shit like Whitney teaching rollout to every single one of her pokemon as opposed to only miltank.

The tile and map changes are subtle but comfy, like adding actually cherry trees to Cherrigrove. There are some new locations hidden out of your way that make sense like goldenrod harbor.

I am fucking loving it. Finding a 1.0 rom was a pain in the ass though, I don't think I would be able to if I wasn't familiar with some slav emulating resources.

Alakazam or Gengar are glass cannons, but they hit fast and hard with special attacks.

Nidoking(higher attack)/Nidoqueen(higher defence) are an extremely versatile wild card that can learn almost any TM/HM you give them. You can use this to cover most gaps in your moveset.

6. If you want a specific baby Pokemon to hatch from the odd egg, just save before you talk to the old man.
Ride your bike up and down Goldenrod until the egg hatches, and if it isn't what you wanted, just reset.
Make sure you don't save AFTER you obtain the egg because the results are set in stone once you get it.

If you want a bunch of shinies, use the cloning method.

While we're all going on with fun-facts I would also like to point out that the original Pokemon games were probably written in C. The only reason we know this for sure is the complete lack of garbage collection. This is why we get the Mew glitch, glitch city and related glitches, because garbage data is never cleared from memory, it's just overwritten as needed. So most glitches actually happen through bypassing the overwriting part. Let's look at the most basic, the old man glitch. it works because your name is stored in memory and this memory is never purged or overwritten properly, so the game pulls data from where your name is stored for Pokemon spawning. Same with the mew glitch, by using the fly-from-trainer glitch the game still thinks you're in a battle when you're not so some data is not properly purged, when you do actually go into a battle now the data from the battle you flew from is still in memory so some data has to be stored over the Pokemon index number (in this case the last Pokemon you've battled has its special stat stored over the Pokemon spawn index when the game has to pull data from it. The current attack stage which can be 1-6 is stored over the Pokemons level, this is useful if you want to force a lvl 1 Mew to spawn for example since you can instantly raise a lvl 1 to a lvl 100). Glitch City happens because the game still think you're in the safari zone when you leave, so when you're warped back it pulls graphics and collision data from the last location you were at and tries to apply it to Fuchsia City
