The DLCs are pretty nice. I've only beaten HH before this playthrough, so it's nice seeing them for the first time.

It's decent but horridly flawed. The game engine is pretty shit and bullet sponges in any game piss me off. Good writing, nice and actually pretty comfy dialogue system, amazing modding community however, kind of help if not fix with many of it's many problems.

What exactly would you classify as a bullet sponge beyond some of the boss characters? Any proper build should have no trouble vaporizing most of the game's enemies in a couple hits.

Using common sense and properly preparing also minimizes the damage enemies can take (using AP or overcharged ammo and a stronger weapon against heavily armored leader for example)

Not to mention any of the drugs can be abused to increase your damage and defence

The DLC is honestly some of the comfiest DLC I've ever played. I ended up getting a couple of mods for HH after I'd completed it to repopulate New Canaan and for a little trailer home quest by the Dead Horse's camp.
Hardcore mode with altered food crafting lists so you have to hunt and bottle/purify your own water makes for a damn nice experience away from the Mojave.

HH is pretty comfy. Joshua is a cool guy and it has my favorite armor hidden in one of the caves.

If you follow stepwiki guide, you should be done in two or three hours, and that's if you are a complete novice to modding. Everything will work without any issues if you pay attention to instructions.

Project Nevada is modular, so you can always skip things that you don't want. It comes in handy if you want to tweak things like carry weight scaling, crit rate, etc. so your character is not OP when you hit level 30.

Also The Secret Stash works fine, but it's mastered too quiet by about 1db. Not much, but noticeable. Plus now that I've tested it I think it's pretty shitty, doesn't stay true to the original intention of the station. It's a nice idea but execution and outcome both leave a lot to be desired. Also when the factions send you to do something monumental to their advantage like deal with the boomers and brotherhood but somehow you have to go completely alone and without any help from their army. I understand user, I'm sure we all do. After 3000+ hours in NV I crave more. The legion quests we never got, the map expansion into Colorado and California that was originally planned, the post game content that changed depending on the ending. We'll never get it.

I feel like Lonesome Road would have been better as post main story content. It would be more fitting, as the Couriers final journey, and it would have given Ulysses better conversation options regarding the outcome of Hoover Dam.

Well, those two factions in particular are tricky for anyone to get close to. This chapter of the brotherhood kills anyone that comes near the entrance of their bunker since their defeat by the NCR and internal strife, and the boomers just blow up anyone they don't recognize. They are isolationist factions that would use up a lot of manpower to get close to.

I'm using Mod Organizer. I can launch the game by double clicking the regular .exe but it doesn't load any mods that way. Launching the same .exe through MO even with all mods disabled just results in a black screen.

yeah i had a crash fix that broke my game once, try disabling NVSE first they might be conflicting with that. IF that works you can look for compatible ones. If not remove leave NVSE and remove the fixes one by one.

Alright I powered through and I have this working now. I'm wondering though how taxing that NMC texture pack is though. Does the largest one cause much slow down? Oblivion and Skyrim always shat the bed once you started adding texture packs even with a good rig.

Personal opinion: Texture packs are over-rated. The thing to remember is New Vegas (and all the other games on that same engine) have a hard upper limit of how much they can handle at once and it's not your ram. For most of them even with tweaks that's 4gb. 4gb isn't a lot of space, and frankly jamming it full of massive textures is just asking for problems. You want overhead for when crazy shit happens (or to do mods like Open Freeside/Vegas).

Honestly I just leave it how it is. I don't play New Vegas when I want something pretty, Besides the game isn't really that ugly, just dated. What exactly is there to agree with?

The facade that there's many different endings but they actually all converge into the same place with very similar objectives and they all tell you to do the same jobs, deal with omertas/boomers/BoS, assassinate/defend Kimball, etc. And how most of the impact you did on the world is not felt, but shown for a few seconds in the ending slideshow.
Also the "there's so many quests" point falls short when a great deal of them are short one-step quests and fetch quests with map markers everywhere.

There are four endings, but yeah if anyone thinks there are more because of all the little sub shit you can do or because you can get different dialogue based on your alignment are deluding themselves. Those little mini-endings are more for roleplaying than anything else. Anyway, so long as you're not trying to say that New Vegas has black and white morality then I've got not beef with you.

It also doesn't play well with some bodies and other shit. Honestly I've only used it for a short bit. I like it conceptually, but it also changes the balance a little by removing some of the lootables from corpses which turns me off a tiny bit. I just suggested it as something to pretty up the game.

You should start the game after each FaL section, and if it works make a backup of the game folders. One of the installs fucked up, and since you did it all at once you don't know which.

There's not really one mod that will do that besides World of Pain. My suggestion would be to go through quest mods and pick ones that add dungeons and new areas to go through.

My game lags in busy areas already thanks to warzones and increased spawns. Couldn't afford monsters too. I just got to vegas and ran out of memory 3 times due to all the fiends and ncr fighting outside freeside near camp mcarran. There was around 75 ncr against 100 fiends with some mobsters thrown in from a quest mod oddly enough.

I installed Fallout Character Overhaul and I'm getting this bug where random NPCs have purple faces. Anyone run into this before and manage to fix it? The people over at the Nexus aren't very helpful. I thought it might have been Fallout Redesigned or one of the body mods but no matter how many times I install them and reinstall them it doesn't fix it. Tried starting new games, using the archive invalidation and all that jazz.

I've never run in to this before but I'm pretty sure this problem is caused by missing face textures. Make sure you're installing the files from FCO in the right place and that they're not being overwritten.

They already have their shit locked down and don't really need you, but there is a mod that adds all of the cut legion quests back into the game. I think it's called "Legion quest expanded" or something like that.

Yes. Just make sure to save the current profile. Otherwise mod order might not be backed up. Depending which kind of LOD pach or whatever you installed, just replacing FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNV.ini with the orgiginal ones might be enough. It's always a good idea to make backup copies of those before messing up with them. Unless you use steam, since it will download missing files automatically when they are missing.

In my experience, LOD modifications tend to be shit more often than not.

You don't own your game from steam. You only purchase a license to play it. When you get it from GOG you own it, and without DRM

I assume you've installed MO in the x86 folder? If you do that you need to run it in administrator mode to do anything. You should install it in a less protected directory

Unarmed and explosives don't really synergize, unarmed would be better with sneak. Unless you're modding it to give you less skill points you're likely going to have plenty to max out or nearly max out more than your 3 tag skills anyway.

Also note that unarmed isn't truly unarmed, it's using fist weapons.

In Fallout 3, this is highly evident with the Superior Defender perk which makes assault rifles and miniguns actually useful, and YUP nerfs it to 5% damage instead of the listed +5 damage. There seems to of been a misunderstanding with the description and as a result it was nerfed with YUP.
