Holla Forums Literature

I have nothing to do for a while, so I figure I might as well go read a fucking book. Based on videogames. Are there any notable books out there that are part of a videogame canon? I've heard Halo had some actually good stuff to read.

The original metal gear novelization is particularly good from what I hear

You can jump on anime bandwagon that it has right now about video games. Especially that from what I have seen general quality of light novels will be better than your regular licensed novel based on video game.
Or at least it will be better than WoW books fuck this shit.

Other than that I suggest you just drop gaming thing and start with something that is proper book. Maybe some game that used to be book first like the Witcher.

...

Now let's try an answer from somone who's not a complete retard.

How about you try a log from my ass

The Doom books are apparently pretty good, but ive never read them.

If you want a decent history of the Sega Genesis/Mega drive then this book is top tier.

Also not necessarily video games but Warhammer books were overall decent.

Because a lot of people enjoy stuff like Overlord and OP doesn't seem to know about it.
And thank you for reading my entire post you idiot.

Got a few more pics. It's expensive if you're outside of Europe though.

Also sonic originally had a girlfriend called Madonna.

I'm a retard, the book is called Sega Megadrive/Genesis Collective Works.

Should the Halo novels be read in a particular order? I heard the newest ones based on the 343i games are some hot garbage though.

so Sonic '06 was just using the original concepts

What is it called? ISBN please?

Had them. Some fucking faggot Polish kid stole a copy from me and put his name in it like the faggot that he is. Didn't realize it until years later. The books were…a clusterfuck. It tried a lot of crazy plot twists here and there and the narration was a bit all over the place, especially when it started to jump from character to character in the later books.

The first King's Quest book was decent I might add. The Floating Castle I think?

ISBN 10: 0957576811 ISBN 13: 9780957576810
Not really sure what the difference is between those two. I believe there's a PDF version that is far cheaper.

Thnx. Now to look for a copy.

read proper books and grow the fuck up nigger, stop being so obsessed with video games

...

Why even read any books in the first place? They make you someone's mind whore.

QFT

“In reading, the mind is, in fact, only the playground of another’s thoughts.”
— Arthur Schopenhauer

I don't need quotes from some dead man to express myself like a little faggot bookworm.

Why not read anything non-fiction? Videogame novelizations are usually the bottom of the barrel literature.

No, what you need is to STFU & GTFO

Books, especially political and philosophy related books, are for fags who can't come up with their own ideas.

Or why not both and just find some interviews with video game developers?
They usually are quite ok behind the scenes stuff.

I have seen a lot of shit quotes being exchanged among people.
I have seen a lot of quotes being quoted solely because of person who said it.
I have seen a lot of people just enjoying what someone said without any deeper meaning to it.
But it is first time I seeing how someone managed to not only ignore anything written but also shit on person saying it without any acknowledgment of who he was. HOLY SHIT

Go on Tumblr they will like you there. I won't get into detail. Just go.

...

The Log Horizon series is pretty good, based on the hit MMORPG Elder Tale :^)

I want Elder Tale so fucking bad ;_;

Tumblr reads all the time, why do you think they're Communists?

Because they are too stupid to read something and understand it can be wrong.

Here are actual copies of these books. 3 and 4 I think go off into sci-fi territory and basically are unrelated but have the same characters from the first 2.

All the S.D Perry Resident Evil books, Anderson loved them.

That's why some books need to be burned.

Just don't read commie books and you're safe.

I'd rather not have any ideas that are not of my own origin implanted into my head thanks.

Here is a copy of a Witcher book. It's good and stands on its own. The other books are kind of short, lead into each other with nothing really being concluded. The overarching story in them is a cuckold raising some girl and chasing after a barren woman.

Is this true? Is this guy the Tolkien of Poland?

You'd better get off the internet then, pal.

i dont know, my parents still remember him selling quills on the street in the 90s

That is wrong.

This is only getting worse.
HOLY FUCK NOW I AM MAD
What do you think communist books are? Bible? Don't threat books like any magical fucking medium of manipulating people.
This are words and as a adult human you should understand that words can be wrong.
No everything but that. We should keep all ideas alive solely to learn from their mistakes. This is why they say everyone who forgets history is doomed to repeat it. We only took half of the story and now people are fucking advocating for it.
We should fight stupidity and not ideas.

Yes. I am speaking as a Pole. 100% yes.
But rather in a way of him taking Tolkiens work and making it 100% Polish.

I know that words can be wrong. All the words in these philosophy books, from Plato to some no-name today, they're all bullshit.

Nope. It's just fun stories without any underlying message. And his strength lies in short stories, not novels. If you want something with more serious tone, read Jacek Dukaj, Jarosław Grzędowicz or Jacek Piekara.

My personal recommendation would be this title, once translated:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Other_Songs_(novel)
Read the synopsis, it's pretty unique.

Sapkowski isn't even Pratchett of Poland, let alone Tolkien.

I always see the Ass creed books while going to the library. Has anybody read them?

Who wrote With Fire and Sword and the Deluge?

With Fire and Sword is boss.

That is funny you mention Plato because
Can be pretty much be taken from philosophy of Socrates. Most of it includes just literally telling you to be skeptical.

I know but at the same time Witcher have a setting of middle-earth replaced with Poland.
He is not writer of the scale of Tolkien. He is quite literally "Polish Tolkien".

I've read the book based off the second game, it's called Renaissance. It was absolute trash, I can't imagine the other books being any better. It's literally the script of the game in book form. And I mean exactly, there's no differences.

I suppose the novels don't have to be directly based off the games, but I should definitely give the Witcher novels a read before I actually read the games.

Read Ready Player One, you piece of shit.

Neat, sadly I don't know Polish.

Dissapointing. Oh well, i'm gonna read the Doom books instead.

Henryk Sienkiewicz.

These two short story collections are the best of his work, The Last Wish and pic related. His so called 'saga' is a letdown.

Thanks, I prefer that to the Witcher books.

War stories are better than fantasy.

Then read memoirs of actual war veterans, not something written as if seen 'through pink glasses' by some spineless intellectual:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakub_Sobieski#Works

Bad idea if you want Video Game books as they did do a Dawn of War Book and it's writting is worse than Matt Wards
Full of MULTILASERS and Backflipping Terminators

Doesn't look like some spineless intellectual to me, authors back then were a different breed.

Do you have anything of him standing over any game he shot? Just going on a safari for thrills requires money to burn, not necessarily guts.

Nein, but I have this:

Nobel laureate, 1905

The man was a nationalist and was no cuck.

Still a well-intentioned armchair warrior, isn't it?

Might be hard to get hold of, but looks interesting.

And Amazon misspelt the author, how lame:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanisław_Żółkiewski

The Ratchet & Clank comic DC put out around the time of All 4 One is canon and makes the story of that game much more enjoyable. It's written by the guy who writes the games. Really fits perfectly into the series.

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 is a manga that is canon to Digimon, because everything is canon to Digimon. It's awesome, and since it's one of the first entries released in the series, it's very influential to the rest of the franchise.

Comics and manga are much easier to find online than most novels, in my experience.

There's a Bioshock novel that takes place before both of the games. It isn't very good and it's clearly just a cash in but there's rough jew sex in it so oy vey I guess.

You should read them in order of release, but feel free to skip any of the shit ones

I stopped reading in the middle of the garbage trilogy written karen traviss around when Halo 4 came out, but they've released a lot since then and I hear most of them are pretty good

Is there a doujin where statues come to life and have you fuck them, or no?

read all the books in morrowind

Any of you niggers got the MGS book? I'm fucking curious how butchered Snake is in it, and only seen bits of it here and there.

...

Tumblr are third-worldists (not even communists because the only communism-oriented ideologies that sort of work long enough to run countries would fucking gulag them so fast they wouldn't have time to say "cisnormative") because they only read pop culture books and the textbooks ordained by their kike liberal arts professors. There's a wealth of right-wing literature and if you read it you can more coherently articulate your opinions on politics and philosophy. Also since leftists are delusional their worldview isn't really tailored to facts, which you can only get by fucking READING.

Jesus Christ. I hope you're shitposting.

No, sapkowski is a fat alcoholic with an ego so inflated it violates the fire safety protocol of the biggest fantasy convention in Poland. (^:
Everyone liking him is either barely literate or insecure

as you can see from 219ce4 he's insecure to the point he clings to "m-m-m-muh polish Tolkien!!!" because deep inside he knows Sapkowski is a hack who can't be judged on his own merit and has to be compared to someone else

That's why Sanacja won and dems couldn't do shit except shoot Narutowicz (^:
Even though i despise socialism and am well aware of problems that arose from Sanacja's governing i blame dems more for being retards believing in the most idiotic system ever created, because as Gulags show, marxist utopia can be achieved and functional, democracy will always be a failure.
Not to mention that dems fucked up talks with Japan becasue bolsheviks & russians are gud bois, dindu nuffins, just getting life back on track.
Then again, Beck outdid them in retardation with M-m-muh honor, and tried to get support of people who accused him of being a soviet agent in the news instead of allying with Hitler like we did few years earlier to get our territory back from Czechoslovakia, guess it wasn't a dishonor back then (^:

I think the real question is did you read this in Kiefer or David's voice?

This story about a mimic is pretty great, and the story itself relies on video game mechanics like stats, leveling up, etc.

The first light novel for DMC is an okay read.

Thanks babe!

Do you think there was any other way for
Ted Kaczyński?

Metro 2033 is what the game's based on. The story is pretty much the same, except the book details the MC's thoughts a bit more and the scenery is autistically detailed.
There's also southern comfort, a STALKER based book. Pretty much the wet dream of most STALKERfags. The MC goes to a new zone in Iraq kills brown and mutants then gets a brown qt.

The Iliad.

Huh, I would have thought mein kumpf would have made it onto one of those lists.

...

How has this not been posted yet?
Great shit right here.

I've heard Halo Fall of Reach is good, but it fucks its own lore in the book by making SPARTANs to be the pinnacle of humanity that can throw around objects weighing thousands of pounds, being RIP AND TEAR deadly, having almost instant reaction time, and can ignore machine gun fire like it's a housefly. All this, and Master Chief somehow got his ass kicked by an Elite MINOR in HAND TO HAND COMBAT.

What I'M looking for myself is a vidya book that doesn't fuck the lore in the ass, especially not if it fucks the lore it set up in the book itself.

Why is there always so much Christcuck shit in these fucking lists? I understand that you should have a good understanding of the Bible because of the fact lots of philosophy written long ago requires knowledge of it to understand, but the only Christcuck book that should be on that list is the Bible itself.

Admittedly it's not based on a videogame, but a videogame is based on it. If you like stalker you should definitely read it. Try and find a version that includes the original text instead of the CCCP's (light) censorship

Good fucking shit right here.

The Warcraft books by Christie Golden are good.

>(((Kushner)))

I got banned from 4cuck and my post deleted whitin minutes for making this same post, no shit.

Pygmalion. Ovid is the best doujin author.

Bump because it's a good thread.

He's right though, you need to expand your competencies. For instance, if you like "lore", read actual mythology and religious history.

Ovid was so smutty that Augustus banished his ass. Probably because he was porking his fat imperial daughter.

Reminder that DC and Marvel comics have deeper lore than any actual religion. They arguably have deeper lore than real life.

Other than that seems good in terms of Holla Forumsack stuff

Real life has DC and Marvel so all if it's lore is a small part of the lore of real life

Reminder that retards who can't into any book without pictures actually convince themselves of this.

Some of the older diablo books were fun.
