No, normal gamepads can't be bought from retail or online stores, so lets say your gamepad has a broken stick, you need to send your controller to where you get the console from (in my case Japan and I don't know how to speak Japan enough fluently to get in touch with their HQ) to have them repair it.

Good news cucks, Nintendo are releasing a Nico Nico video app for Switch, because Nintendo own a stake in Nico Nico this can be considered anti consumer, or conflict of interest, Google got pulled up with this shit a bunch, and there may be some way to force Nintendo to put an app for a competitors video streaming service on the system because of this, although Nico Nico is JP only, so maybe Nip laws don't give a fuck.

It's worth a try, go pirate it on PC or you can probably pick up a super cheap Switch with Splatoon 2 in a few weeks time, it's a very solid TPS and there is nothing else quite like it. the gyro aims really help bridge the gap between PC shooters and console shooters, and I'm still personally disgusted that the industry hasn't pushed to make gyro augmented aiming the standard.

It played fine with the Joycons, the only issue I had was playing it in handheld mode because I really like the gyro aiming and having to move the screen to aim just doesn't work.

He clearly deserved that money, I heard he is going to invest it in fireworks too, that would be a boom for the Canadian economy.

The Pro controller is just a dedicated controller for the Switch, it's functionally the same as other controllers, I think.

Graffiti is in Splat2n, There is a little letter box just like in the original that's basically the same thing. Only thing is that it's drawing only. I was honestly intrigued, was curious if it would end up being a good game or if it would even be popular. I will be frank, I was on the fence until I actually bought the game, went back to my barracks fell asleep until midnight because hikes are a bitch woke up, remembered I had it and put it in. I had a smile on my face the entire fucking time. I played until 12 in the afternoon and had to tell myself to put the shit down, I think 6 of that was dedicated to single player and the other half was multiplayer. It had been so long since I had a game I had legitimate fun with, that felt pure in how everything was. It was new, it was colorful, it had shitposting, and it had fan art that was cute, silly, and serious. It was like me and everyone who was playing it were all having real fun. God it felt great.

That is truly Splatoon's downfall, not enough Squid Milfs in game or in fan art

It definitely feels as though it's winding down, though there's certainly a diehard community that will stick around even after 2 comes out. (I've now ordered my Switch, but I'm still gonna play the original from time to time). It does start to feel a bit samey now that we no longer have Splatfest to look forward to, though.

The real problem with picking up Splatoon 1 at this stage is that you're going to get stuck playing against an army of Level 50 players who've had two years to practice, and know every single exploit and choke point on every single map. You might not have much fun.

On the other hand, the single-player campaign is still fantastic and has one of the best final boss battles in recent memory. Even now, the original is worth getting if you find it on sale super-cheap, at any rate.

That's more or less me right now. I just started the game a few weeks ago. I played for a few hours my first day with people who were level 5-25. I work third shift, so I'm up late. When it hit around 6 or 7 am, the entire game was filled with level 45+ Japanese players, and I was maybe level 6 or 8 on my first day. It hardened me quite a bit, and I'm a pretty alright player, but I can't compete against Splathax using Japanese players who shark with rollers. I have some really good nights where I feel like I get a legitimate challenge and grow from it, and other nights where it's an absolute massacre, I don't learn anything from it, and it just feels like hazing to me.

They're making a concerted push to get as many game franchises updated to Switch as possible, one of the fastest in Nintendo history.

Level is just how long they've been playing, there can be high-level idiots. What you want to look out for is the ranking. And soon enough you'll learn how to recognize skilled play styles and loadouts at a glance, without necessarily being splatted by them.

Yeah, but an idiot at level 50 still has a massive amount more experience than a first day player, which was my point. Incidentally, my roommate started the game with me, and he's pretty much washed his hands entirely of the game because of players who are both highly skilled and cheating. I'm level 25, and it hit a brick wall in leveling due to the way levels work 20+. I can't imagine how much better I would be if I had enough game experience to hit level 50.

Splathax is very real and still functioning.

I think cheating is out of the question but it could be something as simple as bringing a blaster to a turf war. I remember first using the thing when I was a young squid, before ranked was even available, and I thought the weapon was nigh useless. I tried as hard as I could but I felt like something was just wrong with it.

Once ranked came out and with a little more practice under my belt it hit me. The blaster's slow shot speed coupled with it's shortish range meant it wasn't really made for inking turf. It's real ability lied in using it to splat other squids. If your enemy is respawning they can't ink turf. Your tactics change considerably because of this. You can still ink turf, and push a splat zone, but you're better off using it to ensure your teammates have an easy way to the objective.

Yes, the level 50s can be intimidating, considering most should know what they are doing, but that doesn't mean they are cheating. Network connection issues (which have been smoothed out since launch) are still a thing on occasion, and that does suck, but again it can quite simply be just a learn to play issue and learning what weapon you truly enjoy.

Although if what this user says is right, maybe the l2p thing isn't really what the issue is.

Absolutely true. The most efficient way to get good at Splatoon is to quickly figure out what role you play in the team, based on the other squids in your party. The absolute best way to get good is to pay attention to your teammates and how they play, and learn fast. (This was much easier to do back when Splatfest was a thing, because you'd often be teamed up with the same group for a long time.)

Once you get people realizing what another's build is, you can get some really broken combinations. One time both I and another random squid had Seeker subweapons, and we quickly figured out that if we stood next to each other and fired off almost (but not quite) simultaneously, we had an insta-kill attack that was almost impossible to dodge.

Or the couple of occasions I've had a glorious Rainmaker run where all three of my teammates get their Special meters filled simultaneously, and then a perfectly choreographed Triple Inkstrike that made a clear path straight to the goal.

It's really hard to coordinate with your teammates when all you can say is "C'mon" and "Booyah!", but that makes it all the more rewarding when you do figure out how to work together. The upside to being surrounded by Level 50s is that you probably have a couple on YOUR team, too.

Anybody got any good weapon and ability combinations? Any tips in general would be helpful.

Either find a weapon you love and practice with that all the time or take some time to look at S+ streamers and make note of how they move about the map

A couple of good ones off the top of my head:
Seekers go really well with any outfit that speeds up your ink recovery time.
Rollers with Ninja Squid are FUCKING HORRIFYING.
I don't play Charger myself because my aim is awful, but I'm told that the Attack Power boost also speeds up your charging time.
The Sprinker subweapon combined with the ability that makes your Special fill faster is really good - just throw the Sprinkler somewhere nobody else is inking and run off into the stage. You'll find you've got a full charge in no time.
Speaking of Sprinklers, they are unbelievably good in Rainmaker. Drop one right next to the shield (or, ideally, right on top of where someone just died with the Rainmaker before the shield forms), and watch how unbelievably fast you can break the shield.

Oh, and there's a skill - I think it's called "Recon" - that allows you to see where every enemy squid is as long as you're standing on your team's base. Doesn't seem that useful at first, but if you happen to have an Inkstrike ready and have this skill, jump back to your spawn point before using it. It gives you the ability to launch your inkstrike at the most annoying place possible.

No combination of abilities makes or breaks a weapon. Instead, there are abilities which are simply useless alongside certain weapons. Damage Up doesn't pair well with most shooters, since they have a maximum damage per shot, fundamentally limiting their time-to-kill. Ink Saver Main and Ink Resistance aren't very important on any of the low-power, high-coverage weapons, since you'll rarely be in enemy turf when you run out of ink. (Contrast: blasters.) Special Duration doesn't matter if you're using a killer wail, and can even be detrimental if you're using the inkzooka or kraken. (Both specials prevent you from using your main weapons.)

I am partial to one particular combination: the Custom Splattershot Jr. and three Special Charge Ups. I'm not actually that bad at combat, but it's a lot easier when the enemy's under the effects of both a Disruptor and and Echolocator. This build is more suited to Turf War, where you can ink the sides of the map to build an Echolocator before heading into combat with your friendos.

That's fine, don't think you could group at all for splatfests regardless. Just wondering about matches outside that.

The Nintendo Direct explicitly stated that you WOULD be able to form squads with your friends even in Splatfests. No idea how that affects region differences, or if your friend is on the other team.

If it's invite-based, I guess it might be possible to play in a foreign splatfest if a friend invites you, which would be pretty awesome. For the glory of lemon tea!

I'm a grizzled Splatoon 1 veteran and I still get my shit pushed in a lot trying to go up against level 50 Jap n33ts. Oh man I remember my first splatfest, too. I was more of a faggot a couple years back so I got pretty fucking triggered to learn you could only really win the splatfest if your side had more people. It was just a shitty popularity contest. She has a giant 5head, her eyebrows are those godawful painted on hikimayu eyebrows, she has inverted fangs, so it looks like she has a bucktooth, she has this horrible evil bitch princess motif about her, and the black half finger gloves clash with her white and pink outfit. Marina and pearl have almost identical teeth, with a fang in the center. The only reason this seems like an issue is since Pearl opens her mouth more than Marina, and isnt facing downward as often so its not as obvious
Pearl is definitely the front squid of the pair, and due to Marina being modest this is a good contrast because it visually implies shes the "leader" and therefore more vocal. It might also be trying to capitalize on her size, trying to portray her as the more arrogant and younger one of the two
She uses her hands a lot, and the gloves were probably intentionally chosen to clash to highlight how often she makes signs or gestures to the crowd during a performance like in the off the hook video

She just needs some small tweaks and she'd be fine, mainly minimizing the exposed forehead and better eyebrows, but Nintendo probably want Marina and Pearl to be contrasting as possible so changes are unlikely

if theyre villains of any sort i doubt they have an ill intended bone in their body. really, the only reason i have to believe that they would be involved in any villainous activity is that theres suddenly an octoling. thats definitely meant to draw some kind of suspicion.

Whether or not it's actually the EU or NA client (I can't tell since I've already downloaded both), the AUS/NZ SplatFest takes place at the same time as North America's, rather than alongside Europe as expected.
