I still never felt a similar sense of statisfaction from video games like I felt when I finally finished that goddamn quiz though.

The percentage of loot you need to collect on Expert is absurd. You need to collect 2000 out of 2600 worth in loot. For reference he next level has 2800 worth in loot and you only need 1800.

Also this area in the original. Nothing in the game before this required you to carefully ration your ammo and resources.

Not really
Its designed pretty well. Its just that its a difficulty peak instead of a smooth curve.
I didn't have any trouble with it recently, basically its easy if you know what to do.

in the context of the level there is no build up to the section, it's a random idea the devs toss you in and it doesn't pay off as particularly gratifying. It doesn't effectively teach you anything you don't already know. It's bad design from the ground up.
