I am a democratic socialist but to me the only way to do it is to phase in democracy after like 20 years or so when socialism has been completely established otherwise capitalism will just come back. Like the day you come into office say: elections on this date in 2037, if I do not hand over power then let the army depose me, but until then stand with my leadership during the special period as we create the workers paradise.

Of course this makes sense, unfortunately it seems like a vast majority of this place wants a situation of political warfare where the physical elimination of opponents to socialism and the capitalist class is a main feature. That can only exist through organized violence.

Yeah, why didn't anyone ever think of just asking the bourgeois to hand over power nicely? Give me a break, the majority of people will always just follow whoever seems to be winning like cattle, do you really think you can get enough people on side to overturn anything peacefully?
