Why do people always say "hurr do you prefer batista???" as a pro-Fidel argument, and assume that Batista is the only alternative in the entire island of Cuba to Fidel, whose government ended in 2008? Do people really think that no other better opponent could have shown up in those 49 years?

I don't care about Cuba, but people apply this logic to every single long-running government out there, so I want to know why people think like that.

Cuba was and is way better than the other central american island nations that took on the yoke of US economic imperialism, Cuba has no particular natural resources to speak of but look at its standard of living next to Haiti who is in the same boat but drunk the IMF's poison chalice.

They're naive enough to think that the "leftists" that were in power in Argentina or are in power in Venezuela couldn't possibly be people assigned from the US to make people think that capitalism with free shit is socialism.
