It could have been ever more successful if the enemy wasn't "lol chaos" again and instead would've been a heretical Magos and his heretical skitarii and ai-machine spirit robots, so you could fight an infinite variety of machines, freeing up the gameplay from the strict designs of the tabletop.

Nah. SM had a gorillion flaws. And the singleplayer was really really boring at times.
I agree that it could have been built up with expansions, but they fucked up. Now in this style of 40k game there is only eternal crusade. With the shitshow that it is, this style of game for 40k is pretty much dead.

You've misread what I've said. Orks are good but whenever Orks are there they're not there because they're Orks being Orks but because Chaos is using them as a smoke screen. Shit gets annoying. Give me straight up Orks, give me straight up Chaos, but stop giving me Orks being thrown at us by Chaos. Shit's annoying.
