I'm a market socialist, give me some books on economic planning.

Texts or your own opinions are welcome as well.

Bump because this is important

Market socialism is Ok but council communism is better.

Made a poor pdf of the 3rd link if anyone's interested

could not have been more obvious. b8 go home.

Please, report my post. I'm testing a hypothesis that the mods literally don't give a shit about post quality.

Bumping for interest

Decentralized planning can be used together with centrally coordinated production. Essentially you can have industry organized into autonomous syndicates based on each industry. These could independent of the state, but supervised and regulated by it. Planning would be done on a local level by worker's councils and neighbourhood communes (Rojava style). Once a plan is put together orders for products can be sent out to the syndicates, who would then coordinate production across the country and distribute them to the local communities. The central government, local governments, and syndicates could all act together to balance each other's power and monitor for abuses/corruption. This keeps power from becoming too heavily centralized, ensures that each community has its needs met, and avoids the problems of markets like oligopoly and for-profit production.

Arguing for ""decentralized planning"" is nothing more than a retreat to the calculation problem argument that liberals use against economic planning.

Also the main drive for the decentralization in socialism argument is based on marginal theory masturbatory fantasies that even caught on soviet economists(as Stalin noted in his last work Economc Problems of Socialism in the USSR), Bukarin being the first one, and this ideas take to their final conclusion is the shit storm know as Gorbachev's perestroika.

Stay woke and don't fall for revisionism kids, Praise Marx.

I don't disagree with you, but PK price theory which draws heavily on game theory (and thus Marginalism) is completely compatible with Marxism because Marx was not describing a theory of price.

Markets > planed economy
prove me wrong
pro tip: you can't

...

How do you avoid markets creating new class structures?

I'm familiar with all three things you mention here and my response is: WAT. You either have a very particular Post-Keynesian person in mind or you rely on shitty secondary sources to come up with that.

...

And how do you prevent the growth of a massive bloated bureaucracy that occurred in literally every ML country?

communization being a case in point

economic planning could make a comeback due to AIs

but markets still tend to occur naturally in society

To the Participants in the Economic Discussion:
I have received all the materials on the economic discussion arranged to assess the draft textbook on political economy. The material received includes the "Proposals for the Improvement of the Draft Textbook on Political Economy," "Proposals for the Elimination of Mistakes and Inaccuracies" in the draft, and the "Memorandum on Disputed Issues." On all these materials, as well as on the draft textbook, I consider it necessary to make the following remarks.

You're quite the comedian yourself.

sucks having autism don't it?

Does it?

The poster that criticized Rafiq for missing or misrepresenting what the Economic Calculation Debate was even about was correct.

This is why leftcom is a useless term, episode 1024.

I want workers to decide what's the best coat hanger possible for them to produce and for me to buy.

I don't need the hundreds of wasteful choices in coat hangers that we have currently.

That's my uneducated opinion.

Hey guys I'm not sure if there's any books written on this so pardon if this is a common train of thought. I was thinking about this recently, is it possible for information tech to solve economic planning problems? The amount of data a company like Facebook/google collects on a person for example to predict consumer choices and behaviour in the market, could that technology be harnessed to effectively predict and plan for consumer needs? If a company like google was seized and repurposed for economic planning, could we keep the inherent complexities of a modern consumer market without the contradictions of said market? The uncanny accuracy these companies already have at predicting consumer behaviour, could this be put to use to solve economic calculation problems and therefore not have to purposefully strip the market of its dynamic qualities?

You mean like CyberSyn?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Cybersyn

Yeah pretty much exactly like that except with the difference that we live in such a networked society those networks could provide direct substitutions for market signals. We already make most of our market choices online, those market choices have near zero delay which means a technology based planned market substitution already exists today. I also think that our movement towards shared consciousness through technology could make true direct democracy a feasible reality but that's another topic.

so we should continue spying on people in the same way marketing companies do today and directly link our conscious to the all-knowing-AI-God?
I'm not saying I don't like the idea

I think he was asking for something that is relevant to today's society.

Lol Lefties will worship a living synthetic god but won't worship a neither living nor dead god of spirit

We reached that stage a quarter century ago. See the works of Paul Cockshott and Allin Cottrell.

Are you the sort of guy who goes on /lit/ to ask for "objective history books" on a subject?
