With the news of Saints Row 2 being free on GOG right now I can't believe I forgot how many hours I spent on that game, shit you could do in that game that GTA IV didn't have like standing in the beds of pickup trucks and grenade launchers and car customization.

This is fairly underpopulated game and it doesn't always have the weird fog/rain effect. It's amazing they got it working in an engine not designed for ever a fraction of this type of gameplay.

I recall, despite its faults, Empires Mod had some amazing battles once you got a good commander. It was a great FPS/RTS and I miss all the crazy shit that would happen from time to time. Its community died off years ago, sadly.

UTF grenade launcher, and the fuckin Interceptor, had some of the best fun with those.

I'll probably get some shit for this, but Battle Royale for ARMA3 is probably one of the best experiences I've had in online gaming. While they've casualized it since then, the moments I had will probably be forever engraved in my memory, because it's one of the few times I've been earnestly terrified in a game.

absolutely man. That summer of 2012 I played nothing but DayZ. It was so novel and captivating. I miss when vehicles were extremely rare resources that pretty much let you control a server if handled properly. Helicopters were insanely rare and it was a major event when one spawned. Some nights you'd do nothing but run for 3 hours but it was great because it was something very new.

It's a shame what happened to DayZ, and all the clones are fucking trash.

I got banned from so many servers for one-shotting those shitheaps with a drone. How? Pounce so you land right at its feet, look straight up, and attack. One-shot headbite kill. Also got banned for annihilating heavy preds, praetorians, and queens with armor piercing pistol ammunition.

So I don't miss AvP2, if only because of its pussywhiner asshole community. The devs were dicks, too. I regret giving a shit about the game and making mods for it.

The worst part about online friends is that you often only see the good in them, so when they die, or otherwise disappear, the loss is felt more strongly because you likely didn't resent them in the least.

Wish I could have played this in full before my PS3 went kaput and the GameSpy servers died. I just stuck to playing the demo on online mode but it was so chaotic and fun. I ought to return to it on my replacement.

i remember one time in Empires on a KOTH map (i think) when we, as defenders had like 20 respawns, then some guy started playing the dixie over the mic and we defended for like 10 mins on the 20 resps, never had such a valiant fight

I played a bit of CS:S last night for the first time in years and it was shocking how much better CS:S feels than CSGO. CSGO feels like a chore to play after the first few hours in.

Matchmaking has taken over from community-run dedicated servers. This leads to every game playing out the same way instead of each server having it's own flavour (both in maps and in conversation, level of serious play etc) and also means there's nobody around to ban the faggot kids.

Had a lot of fun with Halo 2 with my cousins when I was young, same with Melee. Then Halo 3 and Reach, Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV online. Had fun with the early beta stages of Minecraft. I also had fun with CSGO, Planetside 2, Victoria 2 with my friends.

Also played COD WAW and MW2, but those experiences weren't that memorable as compared to the formal titles aforementioned.
