Gauging Interest

What's the worst business decision I'll ever make and why is it offering early access to my mobile gaming platform to fullchan Holla Forums?

So the platform works for Android and iOS, including smartwatches. It's a voice interaction platform so you can play a pretty respectable library of old text adventure titles just by talking to your device. It talks back, it can be played hands-free, it's fun.

Would Holla Forums have any interest or no? I was thinking of setting it up on TestFlight and on our website as an APK to download with a redemption code being the post number for the thread's OP- no need for emails and we can keep things anonymous.

So yeah. Tell me if this is a good idea or if I'm retarded.

maybe if it wasn't "mobile gaming" I'd be down for it, however I'd take your platform to normalfags who actually use those strange electric jews tracking devices

I'll try it.

this thread is gay

I like video games, not whatever the shit you're talking about.

I understand, but the library of games isn't exactly normalfag-friendly. That's the real rub: people who'd want it play games properly on something other than mobile.

Wonderful, that's one vote!

Think of it as an emulator and platform like Steam rolled into one. It lets you play a huge number of games (we have ~500 so far that we can legally put up to the library) through the single app. Best- you can play hands free by voice interaction only. Now your NEET cave can echo with the dulcet, robotic tones of Siri as you tell her how you want to play Zork.

I'd try it but I only have a windows phone

Sounds like a nightmare, count me out. Come back when you have a video game rather than a scheme to exploit pre-existing games.

Why don't you post it and wait until it naturally aggregates the reputation it deserves.

It's an interesting idea, OP, but you should provide a few more details on the consumer side. Stuff like:

Give us a few screenshots (I know they'll be boring as fuck, but throw us a bone here) and put together a paragraph or two on what it'll be like.

W-why?

Fair criticism. Part of the point of posting it here is that there's no shortage of amateur games development and even Holla Forums has some ambitions.

Should there be text adventure games created by anons, we could feature them to a hopefully wider audience in a semi-accessible format. That's part of the benefit- it's a means to either reach a wider audience for one's text adventure game or to monetize it if the an user creator wanted to do so.

Weak explanation, I know, but it does offer an interesting potential outlet for anons wanting to highlight their writing skills. It's a relatively open (in terms of library, creating, and uploading your own content- yes there are porn games) game platform and this is a community of neckbeards. I figured it's a good match.

It's been a while since my last text adventure and this seems interesting enough, i'd be down for it.

he fucks trannys

People make fun of windows phone but all smartphones have the same vulnerabilities, even "open sores" android, which has Google botnet installed by default.

...

Yeah, that's a given with any smart phone. But if you are going to use one anyway you might as well pick one that doesn't use a dead OS.

Not posting yet because the webpage for the APK isn't finished. As to screenshots, enjoy pic related. The first attempt with this version used in a loud (a CNC router was running in the other room) room.

As to games, Zork, a selection of the top 50 Creative Commons text adventure games, and an upload credit so you can play your own content you choose to upload is what we were thinking.

Anything game in .zblorb, .z1-.z8 works. As to hardware, almost anything running iOS 8 or newer or Android KitKat or newer should work. Again, it does work with smart watches- AppleWatch and AndroidWear.

As to the CIA, no more than any other device or piece of software already does. We've been VERY careful with our lawyers and wording of the Terms of Use. You may upload whatever compatible file you want, we use encryption for storing it and all call-response to our servers, you are solely liable for what that is- we assume you own it.

It is company policy to require a valid court order compelling us to release information. We will release it but since encryption and decryption involve your device- we cannot provide assistance to authorities in decrypting data or identifying users without exorbitant costs. Therefor, a large technology fee must be paid to us in criminal cases. In civil cases, we simply release encrypted data and offer no assistance at any price.

ID dubs make a valid point, OP.

Forgot pic.

You might find some willing participants at various fetish fiction sites, like tfgamessite. The AIF community produces a surprising amount of content, most of it crap, but for testing that isn't an issue.

You sound like a kike from reading this thread.

Thanks for that. We're aware that a big draw will be the ability to play AIF, though we haven't really engaged with that community just yet. We intend to, just haven't yet.

You try starting a company, dealing with the legal issues, and pricing things out without sounding the same. Also we just paid taxes and Oy Gewalt the gubment's full of Nazis after my money.

Zork sounds fun, haven't played that in a really long time. Wonder if the Lost Treasures of Infocom is out there in zblorb format. Not that I'd ever upload anything that I didn't own all copyrights to, oh no.

As long as you're aware of those guys, since if this takes off you'll have to deal with them eventually.

Those sound like good features, as long as you stay transparent and non exploitative I wish you luck and success.

I appreciate your understanding. Hopefully, we can work something out with Activision in the future. For now, our plan is to offer upload credits to upload your own content and we hope that'll keep users happy and with enough variety of content.

As to the merchants, I've had discussions with our lead attorney and he's told me Israel is our greatest ally while winking and rubbing his hands. I just can't read that guy!

Our goal is to stay as transparent and true to the players as we can. As I said earlier, we don't intend to be shy with courting AIF and similar communities others might not. Hell, I'm on Holla Forums and our legal policy is to tell just about anyone to fuck themselves without a legal order forcing us to do otherwise.

This has been good. I'll let my partner to go forward with setting up the webpage to download the APK and I'll get to work on TestFlight for the Applefags. Again, the early access is free and we'll try to include a single upload credit with each download so you can supply your own content.

...

Those were some fun times. I'd use this thing OP is shilling but he should have support for other IF formats if possible.

We're working on other formats. This is only the beginning. By the time we're finished, you'll have an app for playing all kinds of interactive smut while commuting, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, or just anytime you don't want to use your hands to play games…

I'm guessing this would appeal to normalfags with tech jobs and "I go to comic con lol" nerds. They're the only ones I can think of who would be into both smartphones and old text adventure games. There's a rabid hatred of smartphones here even though many people (even those who post >phone jew) probably use one and it's definitely justified. Those same people probably find it easy to just type the commands on a desktop.

But this program might actually be valuable to people who have difficulty typing because they have fucked up hands/no hands. I could imagine wanting to play adventure games like this if I couldn't type very fast.

Sounds neat, OP.
One question I have is the final pricing. You mention this is a free trial, and keep referring to "upload credits", which sounds like microtransaction tokens.

You'll get into legal shit if you making a paid app that has illegal content on it, and you'll get more shit if you're telling people to pay you for the privilege of uploadin illegal content.

Then again, it's fucking text adventures, no one is going to sit in court for weeks on end to try get $20 off you for stealing their 20 year old fanfiction.

I'm interested because I drive like an hour there to work and an hour back every day and it seems pretty neato to be able to play games while driving

You already made it, and it's making a mobile gaming platform.

People with commutes and those who often have their hands occupied but not their minds were those we had in mind when making the thing. We see it as an interactive alternative to podcasts or audiobooks.

Final pricing is a bit up in the air. For now we have the idea of:

One of the reasons we want Holla Forums users for testing is to give us feedback on payment, what's considered an honest price for content/features. We WANT to be a good value so we started with a base of hours one can play versus price. As things stand, we're just a hair above piracy in that department and competitive with GoG prices for just a handful of old Infocom games- ignoring the fact that we offer the whole platform.

We think it seems fair. Actually, we discussed pricing with…

The National Federation of the Blind. They've worked with us on development and the platform can be used easily by the blind and those with physical impairments preventing the play of other games.

A priority is a smart home version and we've reached out to child development specialists and Alzheimer's groups to see if lighter faire like choose your own adventure novels might be a good choice.

Apparently interactive entertainment is really good for Alzheimer's patients and we're able to serve it up hands free. We'll see where that goes.

I need it.

Sadly, it's a scan of the comic.

Speaking of cool shit though, we have plans for the future of this platform and its content!
The plan is to eventually release voice-acted and professionally-written content based on at least a pair of major franchises. They'd be "premium titles" and thus come as relatively large (~$1.50) in-app purchases. Far future stuff though but we plan on it.

Hint: one franchise is a pretty dark independent comic on which a lighter-hearted movie trilogy is based. The other is a supernatural horror/drama franchise.
