Get enough endurance for the +3 DT perk (toughness, i think) and high luck so once you get to vegas you can clear out the casinos of all their cash and buy a bunch of implants. 2 ranks of toughness and the Subdermal Armor gives you 10 DT stark naked before you even hit level 10, which should make you pretty much invincible for quite a long time.

7 luck makes you more or less break even in the casinos, with anything higher than that you can rake in caps. The naughty nightwear and the legion shades add +2 luck.

9 END and the implant is probably the best. Do NOT dump any stat for Charisma, Charisma is basically useless in NV. Set it to 1 and put the points elsewhere. PER is also pretty bad, but not nearly as terrible as CHR.

Energy weapons are better than you'd think, as long as you get the Vigilant Recycler perk. It lets you craft Optimized ammo, which weighs half as much, does 30% more damage, and has increased DT pierce.

Anyone else thing the Railroad was actually fucked up? Like they have all these resources and tech, and instead of helping people in the wasteland, they use it all to help Synths escape the Institute, and then you find out later, that the mindwipe process can go wrong, and there are a bunch of braindamaged, and braindead Synths being stored, after the Railroad fucks up the mindwipe. Not to mention the ethical questions of mindwiping people, which the Institute does anyway if they escape.

Charisma increases the damage and DT of your companions, but it's really not necessary. Companions are decent as they are, and the points are better put towards other stats.

Dead Money is my favorite so far, mostly because I really loved the atmosphere. HH was okay, Joshua and the side story about the survivor was nice. I was up to OWB, but the bullet sponges really put me off and I haven't played in about a year.

I'm a sucker for Nevada Skies, which I think is one of the best looking skies in any game. It also creates a bunch of different types of weathers, but you can turn those off.

Autumn Leaves is a pretty great quest mod. No combat, per se, it's just about you having discussions with artificial intelligent machines and whether or not they're actually sentient.

Nevada skies is great but FUCK THE RAIN. The rain is absurdly loud and muffles out anything else, and the only way to make it less loud is to turn down effects, which also decreases gun shots and footsteps. It also makes everything so fucking dark. Thankfully you can disable it.

Better and prettier? Project Nevada without anything but core and rebalance, and no new guns. NMC texture pack, Dynavision and Ojo Bueno also are great, getting Millenia's weapon retextures is a good idea as well.

So the giant purifier that the BoS and Enclave fight over only purifies a small section of the river. Meaning that if you want water anywhere else in the wasteland you're fucked.

And then instead of keeping the purified water separate from the dirty water, it just dumps it right back into the irradiated basin. Making the entire thing a complete waste of effort.

Fallout 3 was retarded anyway. I sort of sympathize with what they did with Fallout 4 because it is a okay open world shooter, it does that job pretty well, it fails at being a good fallout game, but that part is done okay.
But Fallout 3? In fucking excusable. The giant purifier fight is retarded, because they have no reason to fight for it because of what you just said, the BoS has NO reason at all to fight for it, because they are just a technology cult that wants to hoard tech, everything in the world looks like as if it came out of war 10 years ago, with minimal attempts to rebuild and the game fails at being a good shooter as well.

The answer to every plot question or plot hole in Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 is this:
Emil Pagliarulo can't write a story. He just can't. He lacks the cognitive tools to do it. He's probably a good designer, but Bethesda need to keep him far, far away from the writers' room.

Hegel was an idealist (in the philosophical sense, you memelords), and Caesar is, too. His dialectic was never useful in the real world, and it certainly won't be useful in a post-apocalyptic wasteland that lacks a rigorous intellectual tradition, and where the closest they come is the base science of the NCR.
Besides, dialectics are a method of analysis, not a model for developing a course of action.

Mr. House is not meant to be assassinated. Obsidian made a pretty good job at depicting the courier as a mortal. For all dirty jobs, you are given a back up or an exploit. For all of them, but mister house, there isn't a way to soften up his assassination. You could refuse to upgrade the securitrons, but they are still heavy robots with gatling lasers, and in the attic there are as many as in the strip. Realisticly speaking, the courier would be ashes before he gets to the elevator. It would have been easy to create an opportunity to kill house, but devs refused to write in one. It's a subtle way to say "this is our choice".

You're talking about the guy who crawled through the Sierra Madre unscathed, almost single handedly wiped out the White Legs, survived augmentation to become a literal cyborg and received a plethora of technology, and effectively tamed the Divide putting aside that depending on your character it can be implied you were the one who made it the hellhole it became. The leaders of every faction would melt if they so much looked at a level 50 Courier in the wrong way.

Low INT builds are really good, you level up through combat and quests instead of lockpicking and science. Playing a low INT character and working for Mr. House is pretty fun, he constantly comments on how stupid you are and uses smaller words when communicating with you.

This, crit is a great stat. You should be able to get endurance to 9 anyway and strength and agility aren't as useful as the crit.

Yes luck directly affects crit chance. You also need 6 luck and 6 perception to get better criticals which makes all criticals do more damage.

The only real merit is the divide. With everything else, you have some backup, or you don't need it. The gameplay is the todd one, you are the bethesda demigod. But if you pay attention, you see that the game behaves like the courier is mortal. And a mortal shouldn't be able to go past the securitrons in the attic. He shouldn't be able to kill the bos with his bare hands, or assault caesar when he is surrounded by his elite bodyguards and his whole fucking army. Damn you can get backup even when you deal with the demons. In all scenarios, you are given a tool to make those actions plausible. Mr. House is the only exception, they didn't want to write in a device that lets the courier in the basement without having to deal with the securitrons. Even with stealth maxed out, as soon as you open the secret door, a securitron put itself in the way, you have to bump into him to go past it. Mr. house is not supposed to die. The way you kill him is purposely silly, thrown out there just to let the other endings happen. And silly is the argument "lol genius got owned by the mailman he trusted". Do you get my point?

To be fair, that's really the worst way to kill him. You should kill your way through the rest of the Fort first so you're not surrounded when you assault Caesar's tent.

Charisma goes down to 1, put the points in literally anything else. I prefer END, INT, and LUK. PER is useless, but you need 6 PER to get Better Criticals so get 6 PER and no more.

Perhaps this is asked rather often, but i'm about to actually play (And complete, hopefully) this game for real now.

Are there any modifications and similar that could be considered "Required"? Anything that fixes major issues, or adds substantial new content that improves the experience?

I know i could probably search the internet for other opionions on this, but I thought those of you here in this thread might have less faggoty opinions, and might steer me away from stuff that negatively impacts game experience. The same way STALKER mods are suggested I guess.

Project Nevada without anything but core. It changes all the right things and makes the game simply better.
Otherwise: NMC texture pack, Yukigachi Unofficial Patch, centered 3rd person cam if you intend to use that, strip wall removal mod whatever it called, Millenia's weapon retextures, Weapon Animation Replacers and/or Hitman 1st person animations.

Oh and Fellout NV, with a E. It removes the orange tint. JIP selective fire and Dynavision (DOF mod) are good too. None of them impact the game. There's also Fallout New Vegas Uncut, which does just that, add back cut content.

Weapon Animation Replacers along with a ballistic physics mod almost makes the gunplay not shit as well.

Are any of these bad or really unnecessary.

No idea what Forge Beyond is but I use almost all of those and your choices are pretty good there.
If you want more radio, Radio Blues, Radio Sinatra and Radiation Radio (if you can handle some low quality mic cringeworthy dialogue, but that still spices things up so I consider it a benefit) are all great as well.

Depends on your courier. If you're an asshole, you're just replacing House as the big cheese. If you're not an asshole, maybe things are more democratic. Who knows? The only problem is that they didn't flesh it out; they could have made two interesting independent endings (dictatorship vs. federal democracy without the NCR's baggage), but instead it's just left open, which makes it unfairly seem like the Mary Sue ending.
