Inspired by the timeless classic Chrono Trigger (…)

THAT'S NOT "INSPIRED IN CHRONO TRIGGER", THAT'S EXACTLY THE PLOT FROM FINAL FANTASY X YOU HACKS!

BECAUSE IT FUCKING SUCKS

...

...

Paid $70AUD for this.
Surpasses Chrono Triggers in every way.

Maybe you need to get good and start enjoying games more.

lewd, but is it still fun ?

sounds like bait.

It is.
The guy has found its nieche it seems, theres similar posts in near every thread on the frontpage right now.

Shitposting can be authentic. :^)

Not really. It's novel for like the first couple hours. Then you see that everything is too simplified to hold you through the game. Even CT is more complex then Setsuna. When you can run through all of the game with the first duel tect you get once you have your third party member…something is wrong.

You overpaid for a shit game then

It's awful, and the vita version drops to 10FPS during basic combat animations. Disaster of a game.

Some of the music is good. A lot of it is forgettable. Most annoying is the first overworld theme. I was so glad when it changed over.

Into the trash it goes.

IT SUCKS MARK. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO ASK THE FUCKING PODCAST IF THIS PIECE OF SHIT PRETENTIOUS GAME SUCKS WHEN ITS SO DAMN OBVIOUS. I SERIOUSLY HOPE YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY PAY FOR THIS GAME YOU FUCKING FAGGOT.

Is it using the exact sme story of FFX or do they both just use that same plot point?

Niggers

Yikes

If you want a decent, modern Chrono Trigger wannabe, check out Cosmic Star Heroine instead

That's out?

This was developed by based nippon, lads. It's legit.

after watching a few videos I can safely say this is only "inspired" by Chrono Trigger in that it has combo moves and battles take place on the same map as normal movement. the pacing, tone, style and freedom seems to complete completely offpoint.

also looks like it does the same bullshit Chrono Trigger did where if you start a fight with a pack of enemies in any direction other than where the developers wanted you to you just snap over to where you're "supposed" to fight them, relegating any and all positioning strategy to combat itself which just makes the whole seamless shit pointless.

Also, due to skills having knock back, you can't actually input multiple commands, as you'll end up knocking enemies out of range half the fucking time when trying to hit multiple targets.

last week, bro. where you been?

When they say "inspired by Chrono Trigger" they mean that the development team was specifically trying to recreate the more old school RPG feel like that which was characteristic of Chrono Trigger as well as other games like Final Fantasy VI. The game even has moves pulled directly from Chrono Trigger, like the X-Strike ability. The fact that it shares a plot point with FFX also is kind of part of this love-letter to classic J-RPG's

Chrono Trigger was very uncharacteristic of all other old-school style RPGs though.
Even the fighting system was very much different from the rest until later

Chrono Trigger stands out from other RPG's in a special way by being something of the ultimate culmination of all the aspects of J-RPG's at the time. It's basically what happens when Seiken Densetsu, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest have a baby and it should feel like that since it had so many people who worked on the biggest RPG franchises at the time from both Square and Enix developing and directing it. So it has all the typical gameplay mechanics and story tropes of J-RPG's at that time, but this combination itself is rather unprecedented. It is also really, if you want to get technical, the first actual Square-Enix title since it was the first time Square and Enix teams got together to make a game.

This is why I think I Am Setsuna, even if it isn't as grand as Chrono Cross, is probably a better successor to Trigger than Cross because Cross was written and directed almost solely by Masato Kato, making it feel like something important was just missing.

Making a perfect TiTS:SC save and drinking.

The successor to Trigger is Xenogears, which shared much of the same design staff. This is why Chrono Cross feels so jarring when compared to trigger, because you're missing the transition between them.

The problem with Cross is that it feels like a separate game that was only made into a follow-up to Chrono Trigger later in its development cycle when all the basic ideas had been drawn up.

That's more or less what happened. They had the script of the shit that got torn out of Xenogears and threw Radical Dreamers on top of it.

Reminder that it has been over a decade since the last Suikoden game was released.

Yeah, "main character travels and perhaps has to make a sacrifice to save the world" is such an original plot that FFX came up with.

Digital versions are, Physicals by LRG are coming in a couple of months or so.

it's owned by konami, i think we can expect to see a movie of it before a new game

More likely a pachislot or mobile reboot, the way various companies have been following Capcom's lead (with Breath of Fire) for older JRPGs they've done nothing with in years.

Starting to think Japan deserved those nukes fam.

Seems more like in Japan there's some notion that the people that want to play those games moved on to phones, or that the mobile market has more potential for sales than the actual console/handheld customerbase that the series had prior. Look at Sony: They act as if Arc the Lad and Wild Arms, two franchise Sony themselves own, which by all logic would stay on their own line of systems, aren't worthy of the PS4 or Vita for new entries, instead relegating them to being bait for mobile shekels.

That's not really a new attitude at Sony though, stuff like this exists because sony thought the original games weren't fit for an individual release on the fucking PS1.

Alright, I've seen it enough, what manner of forced meme is this?

I checked boorus to see if there are any lewds. There is none. Guess the game sucks that badly no one wants to make lewds for it.

Shame, because Setsuna looks like the kind who'd be perfect for rape pics.

Wasn't that just Sony of America's doing?

The story is, supposedly, that they came to sony trying to license out just the first game, and they didn't really want to play ball. So as a last resort, they offered to translate/publish all of the games for them.

Here's a documentary, video specifically mentions sony japan.

...

Oh yeah man, CSH looks like it'll be indietrash of the year with how fucking horrible it looks.

Hopefully you pirated the vita version user.
