In its aesthetic, is Fascism just a nerd attempt of making historical fiction real by embodying its values? German fascists were all into that stupid Wagnerian stuff, and modern Fascists are always in the comment sections of clips of movies like 300, Braveheart and anything with Vikings talking about bloody & honor and how these guys with long hairs and abs are "real men".

Fascism is the belief that mythified past is real and must be recreated in the present

Fascism is legitimately LARPing gone wrong.

Fascism IS the aesthetization of politics and society.

You can talk about the aesthetics of liberalism, you can talk about the aesthetics of Socialism, but when you ask about fascism, you must phrase the question: "How does this aesthetic translates into politics and economics?" In fascism, aesthetics begets the poltics and not the other way arround.

This

very valid point, which is also why I think it's not hard to convince today's Fascists of supporting some type of anti-capitalism.

lmao Mussolini said something similar about the german past

...

I actually Mussolinis architecture and modernism in general.

It was ten times better than the fucking grey dystopian temples of doom the Nazis build.

*not Modernism, Futurism as the specific style that occurred before and during fascist Italy.

why do I have to select my flag for every new post today?

Lots of them now obsess over the crusades, Kingdom of Heaven and 'muh deus vult' to compliment their whole crying over a muslim invasion of europe.

I think you lose it when you open a new tab?

...

Exactly my thoughts but do you have a quoteable source for that? Respectively: where can I read an elaboration of these thoughts?

I actually evolved this idea myself, but Benjamin wrote a whole bunch about it:

This book is on my reading list, it seems to deal with something similar to what you guys are saying

I find this really annoying because more often than not it is just a pretentious grab for authority and power whereby they carboncopy someone else's taste and feign such an "high-minded" interpretation. It's almost like they don't even attempt to understand Wagner's art but instead just want to tack them on as a strong point in their ideology.

...

So we all can agree that fascism is mythology made ideology and aesthetics made politics but is that something good or bad for us? Do we adopt it or do we fight it and how?

I quite like the aesthetics of fascist Italy.

thank you comrade

...

You fight it, with reason. and if needed, violence

The aesthetics of early Fascism were actually pretty creative and even groundbreaking, owing to the support the Futurist avant-garde gave to Mussolini. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, one of the most remarkable artist of the era, co-wrote the Fascist Manifesto — though granted its content had very little to do with the actual policies that followed.

The influence of Futurism within Fascist Italy fawned over the years, as its rather subversive call for destroying old institutions caused it to fall out of favor with an increasingly conservative regime more interested in signing the Lateran Treaties than looking at experimental paintings.

This happens because Fascists mistake politics for art, and art for politics.

Walter Benjamin was right when he defined "aestheticization of politics" as a key component of the Fascist worldview.

Hitler's idea of architecture was basically 'copy what other countries have, but make it ludicrously big'.

I would say that the only language fascists understand is violence. You cannot reason with them because the only thing they respect is strength. They fawn over those who they see as strong and stomp on those who they see as weak.

To win an argument with a fascist, you must prove to him how weak he is.

I have always felt like Holla Forums will eventually turn towards radical Islam tbh

Almost all right wing movements have over idealized masculine values and fake machismo as a virtue.

...

Nah, the aesthetics don't match.

Not quiet, a fascist is a slave who think they can chose a master. Even if commies have crushed fascism and shown they're stronger fascist still want the old masters

The aesthetics of radical Islam are most definitely post-modern. It mainly consists of JPG artifacts-ridden, excessively Photoshopped memes taking their cues from Western advertising.

If anything, it's the most Holla Forums-compatible art around the block.
