To be fair, there has only been 4 episodes to compare to 4 seasons. So far it definitely has been lower quality, but I think we'll get a final verdict in the next 9 episodes.

KND was entertaining when I was prepubescent, although some of the jokes were too childish for me even back then.

Old cartoons at least made sense for all audiences since they were well-made and didn't dumb anything down for kids or goyim like modern ones do.

The old episodes hold up but they aren't really what Samurai Jack needed for the return we all wanted. It's meant to be a continuous narrative with more plot this time around because it's shooting for bringing closure to everything.

I disagree. I think the more somber tone works really well, especially since the show's audience has aged considerably. SJ was always meant to be kind of violent anyway, the robots were always a workaround. And the latest episode had a quite a bit of humor in it, now that Jack's growing out of his depression.

I agree with this and the people I watched up to date felt the same way. I think it's because this will be a short, short season, and they're trying to "get everyone up to speed". Based on the synopsis list, there will be a few more traditional episodes, most likely 5, 6, and 8. The content is more dense, so the fun things that made Samurai Jack feel so much like Samurai Jack have been waylaid a bit. The doggo scenes and little bits of comedy here and there are still much appreciated by me, at least.

Look Sam Jack isn't the worst show ever made but it always felt like that off-brand western anime-like action show (another example being The Last Airbender) kids watched because their parents thought DBZ was too violent.
