This is pretty fun to play around with, actually.

The trick seems to be that each hinted color has a chance to color the region around it, with lines in between helping to demarcate areas, so if you want to do detailed color work like the teeth/fingers, it works if you alternate colors in similar amounts.

Yeah, if you look, a lot of the pictures that are coming out don't seem to have much in the way of contrast. They're all neutral, peach and blonde and pastel colours mainly. If what they're using is machine learning, they need to feed it a whole bunch of landscape pictures and stuff with naturally occurring contrasts in it already so it can pick up on when to use it and when not to.

The program seems real iffy on whether adding something to an area effects only the immediate area, the rest of the entire image, or barely effects the area it's in no matter how much more color you add until suddenly it effects everything.

It seems like the best way to adjust shading is to tap pure white or pure black in just one size 3 dot of the pencil, colourize, then check results and add/remove dots as needed.
