Surely virtue signalers, who've barely heard of banjo-kazooie, will buy this by the thousands and save the day.
Will they blame the evil entitled goobergators for this?
Why is it 72 based on 15 critics now?
...
Different version user
I see…
So its a good game?
Yooka Laylee confirmed for worse than Aliens Colonial Marines.
I'd commit acts of terrorism on his ass
There sure has been a lot of this sort of thing happening lately. The more I hear about stuff before it comes out, the worse the reaction to it is.
Didn't someone mention that it only has 4 worlds?
yeah, you'll find PC critics are far more forgiving due to the lack of good games, so they try to inflate what they have as being better than it is.
And consolefags have no taste and similarly enforce high scores.
Always kill a traitor before an enemy
its almost like one is more critical compared to the other, something tells me it's not the console fags lacking in taste
I have a better idea of why this may be the case, consolefag.
More like Whatta-Failee, amirite?

that's just simple numbers, there are fewer PC outlets to draw resources from because there are fewer PC gamers. Not very hard to figure out.

I have a question for you Anons. What if the game is good, but all this bad press kills any chance of a sequel?
Tinfoil:
The game was being rushed and they knew it was shit, so they false-flagged this entire thing on NeoFag so when they get low sales they can cry about Nazis and get free publicity to drum up pity sales and support for their next game.
I think it's clear that the game started off as it should with a talented team, but then slowly transformed into a mess as development progressed.
There's a clear difference between the character models that were shown at the start and the latest ones, and the levels seem to get more and more barren the more you progress intro the game.
I don't think the game is going to be good honestly.
No
how do averages work and why is the yellow line the most interesting one?
This is NOT the kind of yiff I want to see.
I am being hypothetical here, of course. Mind you, the suggestion that sounds like they started well and then petered off sounds very realistic.
The people I've seen who are actually at all worth listening too are saying it's good. Meanwhile I hear that the people giving it hte low scores are cunts like Jim Sterling and Laura Kate Dale. In other words, I'll probably get it and judge for myself. Apparently the biggest problem is the camera.
Honestly if a game is good it will eventually sell enough by word of mouth alone.
The only difference is that instead of making the money back in one week like bethesda does it will take a few month with consistently good sales.
at least torrent it
...
Wasn't there ex Rare devs on this shit? They fucking pioneered camera work in 3D environments. Also make sure to pirate before you buy.
No N64 game has a good camera though
Is it the character or content?
i dont want to draw yl fart porn
they were fucked with the Jontron thing no matter what they did
they still fucked it up though. They would have been better off just ignoring the whole thing
Will do user
As long as it's straight, it's ok.
I got suspicious when the main protagonist's name was "Capital B", but the virtue signaling at the end of the development cycle was the final nail in the coffin.
Oh well, hopefully Mario Odyssey will be okay. I really wish more nip developers would into platformers, but it's all just beat em up's and VN's.
I liked the idea of Capital B, could've been done right.

Have you tried the new Vulkan-based emulators like paraLLEl?
The game isn't long, but it is bloated and padded. Everything takes longer than it should because they made the worlds large and barren.
stream it
Fam just to a Flea Market and buy an N64 for like 20 bux.
It's a mixture between the presentation, awkward cameras and just being designed for kids who had really nothing better to do in that time period.
I was about 16 when I first played OoT, I used walkthroughs for a lot of it because I just didn't feel like exploring or trying shit out. Also it was my first game that wasn't FPS or Beat 'em Up.
Still regret doing it, but I can't imagine people having the patience for a game like that as they get older. Luckily, I eventually grew some patience so I can enjoy more older games.
You need to go look at the gameplay. The players are retarded, but the game looks barren as fuck. It's almost like a remade nintendo game. You would give this gameplay a pass maybe in 1995.
You're not wrong in saying the N64 had camera issues.. I usually don't have issues with the camera in either Zelda game but I can't say it hasn't fucked me over on a few occasions. Rare knew what they were doing though and actually gave the L button a really fucking good use by focusing the camera directly behind you.

I want to laugh at the review scores but at the same time it seems like a case of journalist casualness. Like they are suddenly saying Banjo Kazooie was a bad game and YL is bad for being like it
I wont be surprised if there were people who go back and said "I guess Mega Man was bad after all because MN9 was bad!" like they are now with Yooka Laylee. Unless they got the DK64 team on this its weird how the game has weird choices like the camera, pointless quiz choices, and apparrently some people experience stuttering on certain systems.
I was on the fence about doing that, but now I probably will

Isnt it funny how when games come out like this, people say "AWH YEAH BANJO KAZOOIE WAS THE GREATEST GAME EVER" despite never played it, and if it fails, they say "OH WELL IT WAS NOSTALGIA I GUESS NOW IT SUCKS".
Its actually quite shocking.
As if you'll do it. You're nothing but a big pussy.

they might mean the frequent gameshow quiz minigames that are full of long-winded unskippable dialogue
Oh, you're giving them the benefit of the doubt. You still have hope in man.
thanks user it's been a while since we all laughed at a game together.
Lol so quirky XD
Wow, even Fatboy Jim is crushing down on it with his weight.
They probably watched their favorite Eceleb talk about it nonstop and decided to parrot his opinions and never bothered to emulate it, or they never grabbed a copy on XBLA when the 360 was in its heyday, shits even on Rare Replay for the suckers that own an Xbone.
Even then I think people should probably learn that YL is a weak immitation on terms of gameplay like MN9 was to Mega Man. I hate it when retards like Zero Punctuation go "Well I decided not to pay attention to the hype so clearly fans got what they wanted and were blinded by nostalgia :^)".
You shouldnt take him seriously either, his reviews really feel like Clickbait.
...
Not saying Yooka Laylee is good, but Jim IS the person who gave Fallout 4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn a 9.5/10.
Most of the reviews say it's got some things that needed to be modernize and some fps issue on consoles. Most agree if you really like Banjo Kazooie you'll like this

I can't even see this name without cringing.
I'm not even surprised.
General consensus seems to be that the game is fine if you're specifically into the design philosophy of the original BK games, but isn't great otherwise.
That said, even if the game succeeds, the controversies leading up to the game pretty much killed Playtonic from a PR standpoint, so they'd have to fight an uphill battle for any future projects.
There's still Mario Odyssey, Snake Pass and Anton and Coolpecker.
Maybe some /agdg/ anons are working on some on the side. P-please…

this
They seem to be complaining that it's not new and it's out of date. Which is rich coming from these hypocritical cunts.
unless someone makes a 3d platformer with loot crates and E SPOHTS in mind it won't ever get big again.
Banjo has a particularly awful camera. If that's your example, you've got shit standards that are probably hampered by nostalgia. Still a good game, but it's much worse than other games of the era such as Spyro the Dragon, or even the constantly criticized camera of Sonic Adventure.
I desperately want 3D platformers back, they're by far my favorite genre, and failing that, I'll take collectathons, because at least it's a little close. But really, it always bugged me that people confused the two. You do practically no platforming at all in Banjo, Conker, or DK64. Now they've announced Crash Bandicoot is coming back, an actual 3D platformer, and though it's just remakes for now, it gives me enough hope that I'm not as desperate for Yooka Laylee to bring the genre, or at least one close to it, back.
Their open support of censorship and SJWs just made my decision even easier.
Except you'd have to move your entire hand in order to hit the L-button, making it unfeasible to use.
This. I was really banking on other devs trying to jump on this bandwagon, but now they'll just go back to figuring that colorful games are only for kids (except when they're for SJWs), and we'll just get more and more bland shooters/shit single player MMOs.
Mario and Sonic don't count because they'll be around forever, but only one every couple of years.
Snake Pass maybe.
It really doesn't look that bad to me, I may pirate it but I won't support it off principle alone.
I think we're all hoping some competent /agdg/ team picks it up some day, though I imagine even with a team making that game would be really hard without funds and experience. Hell Katawa Shoujo basically tore that team apart and by the end of it they all hated each other…. and that was a fucking VN.
Holy shit, this. I love Banjo, but that fucking camera makes certain parts of that game MUCH harder than it should've been.
Wasn't their biggest issue the fact people would be like "Hell yeah, I wanna help!" and then they'd eventually get bored or be too lazy and would just disappear? I'm pretty sure the team members and size changed constantly.
The levels in Zelda were designed to incorporate prescripted spots and rails for the camera to stick to, much like the automatic jumping, this was to eliminate the camera from the controls outside combat. Zelda's snap-behind camera isn't really designed for platforming, and the platformers that make good use of it (Rayman 2/3, for instance) mostly use it for combat. As a PC gamer, relative controls are best for platforming, but IMHO any sufficiently combat-heavy platformer should just have an OTS camera like Max Payne/Alice/FAKK/Oni.
Enjoy your railroaded tunnel vision
I remember when I was a kid on the Spectrum the keys we used were:
Q= Up
A= Down
O= Left
P= Right
and Space to jump
Seems so alien now.
From what I understand it's mostly C-list devs from well after Microshit bought them out, they're calling themselves "ex-Rare devs" in an effort to prey on nostalgia of when the Stamper bros ran it.
I honestly can't remember. It has been so long since I've looked at anything about that game. I just remember that by the end the team wasn't talking with each other any more.
Crash's linearity allowed it to focus more on tight platforming and control, whereas Banjo pretty much abandoned that entirely in favor of exploration being the entire game. Even Mario 64, which still has a good amount of platforming, has many levels where that is pretty much forgotten in favor of exploration. Crash's pure focus on platforming is what makes me like the series.
Speedbot looks really promising
why don't they ever shut the fuck up?
I'm not saying Crash-style linear platformers are bad, but calling them 3D smacks of dishonesty.
Even slower "cinematic" platformers like (classic) Tomb Raider are more 3D.
I agree with your last post about collectathons being different from exploration-based platformers, but the fault line lies elsewhere than the camera. Collectathons more strictly govern the player's behavior by forcing them to reach many particular places, usually with collectables spotted together in linear rows or wide blobs. In the case of Banjo, this was exacerbated by the need to collect all jiggies in a level in one run). Contrariwise, exploration-based platformers have a single goal point (Mario 64's stars, for instance), encouraging a more investigative approach to the level, especially if more than one of them can be reached in an open-ended way instead of having to pick one version of a level to attempt a given goal.

Wow thanks.
Isn't the lizard a girl?
There were people who did that. I don't have any examples saved, but that was one common "criticism" from the apologist camp. I feel dramatic calling it revisionist history, but it's the same shit you see in a lot of progressive/political circles. The old days MUST have been bad, the new way we're doing stuff MUST be good, etc. Good old games are oxymorons to these people, unless they're "classics" in which case they should be revered.
They're still working on it. They had a thread about it here towards the beginning of the year. Still a ways to go, but they are making progress.
Sweet.
How thick is Yooka's cock?
Do you think he'd enjoy having it cut off slowly and teased about being a "girl"? Just wondering. haha
Sounds edgy.

I dont know what could be more romantic
No.
No, it doesn't. You still move in three dimensions. Granted, the first game has levels that do pretty much play in 2D, but the second game makes it so that even these levels are still like half actual 3D and half 2D, and there are fewer 2D sections in Crash 3.
But what you seem to be saying is that Crash's 3D levels, where the movement is largely in and out of the screen, do not count as 3D. That's bullshit. Might as well say Modern Sonic doesn't have 3D in it either. Or Dreamcast era Sonic Action Stages, for that matter. Sonic Adventure 2's Sonic stages are pretty much just faster Crash, but you're not gonna tell me they aren't 3D.
Mario 64's "investigative approach" results in less precise platforming a lot of the time, since exploration is such a large factor. Even then, most of the stars end up being "follow this path as opposed to this other path," or just "take this path you already took but take a different branch at the end." The difference is, since they share the same stages, and are more about exploring them, you end up crossing the same relatively empty areas more often, whereas something like Crash or Sonic Adventure 2 is more pure action and precise platforming, more akin to Mario 64's Bowser Stages.
Mario 64's approach works, but personally, I prefer 3D World for going for pure platforming over the platforming/exploration hybrid of earlier games. That's just me. I can see why you'd like the other type more, but sometimes I like a game that does one thing very well instead of two things pretty well.
I like Jak & Daxter's approach to the open world meme, which is basically linear levels that all loop back around so you end up at the door to the hub world. Makes people think it's open world but still has levels with very specifically designed platforming. Wouldn't say it's as good as Crash though.
I was referring to the Katawa devs, but it's good to know Anton and Coolpecker can still be a thing.
This is one of the reasons why I think Tooie was better than Kazooie.
Notes stay collected, instead of having to grab them all in one go.
I think their biggest problem is that every member of the time is an autistic faggot from Holla Forums. If I worked with 5+ people don't actually know how many were on the team who are super similar to me, I'd probably kill myself.
If you don't do it, your waifu will become raped, tortured, and slaughtered by a nigger.
Well, now you have to do it.
Really, my ideal exploration-style 3D platformer wouldn't be open-world-big, but instead a small tightly packed level full of alternate paths to reach any given area. Sort of Deus Ex design with platforming.

Seeing all the people who say that Banjo was a shitty game and that Rare was an overrated company with no good games because of this fiasco hurts so much. Fuck.

I SAID I'D DO IT GODDAMN. THEY HAVENT SENT OUT THE BACKER KEYS YET THOUGH
Huh, no idea this existed, I must've always confused it with the PC multiplat from the '90s.
It really does. The world looks tedious to explore which is a deal breaker for the type of game Yooka-Laylee wants to be.
compare it to snake pass. a highly condensed and detailed navigational game which is far more interesting than this garbage.
kickstarter is becoming the red flag it should have been from the start.
A little late now, since reviews dropped already.

Hey that sounds like my friend's wife.
wait a minute, didn't the original banjo kazooie had footprints?
Yeah it was. Very clever girl made a lot of money out of that.
Is he dead inside, or does he have shit taste as well?
You're retarded, and Super Mario Odyssey comes out this year, it's going to be goat min.
Mario is a given, but the one Mario game per gen isn't enough to get the genre relevant again. Wii had 2, and that still didn't make more platformers appear.
Naw he's got pretty good taste, his wife isn't horrible she just doesn't like anything with any kind of edge or anything. She probably would have been a fujoshi if she knew about anime before meeting him though.
wew look at all those babies who want the racist jantran in the game xD
3d Platformers will never hold the same position they once had, but they aren't dead, there are I think 4 new 3d platformers coming out this year and around 3 remasters.
this has to be underhanded shilling. this picture is in every fucking thread.
Well we get one Mario per gen, and a half/three-quarters-2D Sonic game every few years. Yooka Laylee and early interest in it seemed to inspire more people to try to revive the genre, what with Crash remasters and such, but now that might stop since this one isn't doing well.
Ratchet & Clank is still going, but the latest Ratchet game, while very good, was essentially the first game with a lot of the best levels removed and replaced with hallway shooting levels. Sly 5 was supposed to be coming some time, but with the Ratchet movie bombing, they haven't mentioned the Sly movie in years, so that probably removes the incentive to actually make a new game.
Snake Pass is cool looking but not really a platformer, and still an indie game that I'm sure is as short as you would expect for its price.
I remember when the Resident evil remake and RE:0 was getting reviewed it was criticized for being too dated control-wise. Then RE5, RE6 happened then people were pining for the good old days.
There was also A Hat in Time, another one I can't remember and the Ty 2 remaster, there's a lot coming just this year, but I guess they are right 3d platformers will never be the relevant genre they once were, outside of Mario.
To be fair those reviewers might be different people. Also when REmake and RE0 came out it was soon after a nearly yearly release of similar games, people were getting tired of the same formula. There's a reason why Zelda nearly always reviews well a new one only comes out every 3-5 years. Same thing happened with Mega Man.
Don't worry. Tooie is shit. The first game was amazing, so I don't know how they fucked up the sequel so bad, but they did.
Tooie was great, and the way levels looped back on and interacted with eachother was an excellent decision, it just wasn't as good as it could have been and definitely has faults.
This is why numeric scores are often meaningless. Is the game to be judged in terms of how well it captures the original or how well it translate the spirit of the original into modern standards? Both are legitimate goals and would give very different scores depending on which you use to judge the game.
That being said, cameras are hard but after the decades we've had to work on them, they're a solved problem, and fucking them up as badly as they were fucked up in the first 3d games in a new game is not something that anybody who gets paid to program 3d games should be allowed to get away with.
Having a taste for 3D platformers is like being a musical fan. Outside of animated ones from Disney and their occasional knockoffs (Pixar, Dreamworks, Don Bluth) nobody makes them regularly, and Broadway is just an emaciated corpse ritually raped by talentless hipsters.
Maybe someday we'll see a renaissance like what happened with 2D platformers, but I suspect the increased costs of 3D platformers makes that unlikely (also, in the back of my mind there's a tiny voice that insists 3D is inherently shit taste for platforming and the genre is a guilty pleasure, much like point & click adventure games as compared to parser-based IF.).
To me, what i'm seeing here looks like a lack of polish. Just about everything looks like it's maybe 80% finished. Animations feel lacking, if they're even there at all. the feathers they're picking up also have this odd, jpg feeling to them, and they missed a chance to reference Banjo-Kazooie there, by coloring them gold, (though it could be argued that they don't really need to reference BK, since it's a spiritual successor). If they just added that last 20%, then maybe it would be able to hold the same charm Banjo-Kazooie does.
And you're right, it is barren. The worlds are too big, with not enough content. If they were to have downscaled the worlds around 20-40%, they'd feel like they were full. Again, Banjo-Kazooie worlds were never this big, and though it may have been due to limitations of the console, it paid dividends. The worlds felt dense, and packed with adventure. Or maybe that's just the nostalgia goggles acting up.
What is "the increased costs of 3D platformers" supposed to be? Nowadays you can just load up Unity and already have something that would have taken an N64 studio 10 programmer-years of elite C and assembly programming.
We've gone from a time when painters had to grow their own dyes to just being able to buy hundreds of different paints from a store, and this is supposed to have made painting more expensive?
Higher resolution assets, higher poly models.
Unless you're going full "2.5D", a 2D game's assets are much easier to produce, since you can just slam something out in Photoshop, trace out edges in your editor, and plop in objects (let alone if you use "block based" levels, since there's much less stigma against it in 2D). Even in a 2.5D game it's far less necessary to dress up every angle of a scene and object. Also, physics are much more elaborate, with many more chances for faulty interactions that place greater demands on level and mechanic design.
It looks like Spyro: Year of the Dragonfly
It has been my understanding that it is well-done 2D art that is expensive as hell. Hence why Bloodstained ended up going 3d as a matter of budget practicality.
And again, hard technical limitations make art harder, not easier. "Just keep the poly-count per character model below a fuck-ton" is easier for an artist to follow and make something that looks good with than, "you can have 2000 polygons in memory but only 1000 of them visible at any one time."
There is the problem of realistic AAA games where you have people spending their animator careers rendering trash getting blown by the wind in alleyways, but platformers are more stylized ands shouldn't have those kind of problem.
Skullgirls dev claimed it cost ~$200,000 to add a character.
3d platforming was the renaissance of platforming, what renaissance is there left, as far as platforming goes just play Mario, he's been the prime driver for platforming games, it's his genre.
...
You never know. Maybe this gen, Nintendo and their associate studios built up enough reusable assets and streamlined the HD development process enough to focus more on 3D games with the Switch because it feels like that one of the big reasons they focused so much on 2D platformers with the Wii U was their desperate need to fill out the console's library and 2D platformers are cheap and fast to produce.
By edge you mean grey morality or ow the edge?
I never did understand why early 3d platform games had the camera collide with geometry. It only led to it getting stuck.
I don't think that's why the WiiU had 2d platformers, I think it's because 2d patformers still sell very well, New Super Mario Bros, 4 games, 70+ million copies sold, small budget high returns.
Donkey Kong, Cunny returns, I think sold as well as the original Donkey Kong Country.
Tropical Freeze was very detailed that wouldn't have been easy to put together.
Hal isn't owned by Nintendo, Hal does what Hal wants, Nintendo publishes their games sure but if Nintendo decided to not publish a Kirby game Hal would just publish it themselves.
I think the inability to become relevant again is from a bunch of things, journo tastes, advertising budgets, gamer tastes, and the perception that platformers are for kids. many shit and small series still get the limelight and large coverage in spite of being so miniscule. The Witcher 3 sold almost as well as the entire Mass Effect series but Mass Effect still maintains a high profile.
The 2D/2.5D barrier isn't a sharp one, so for instance you can lock the 3D projection to a flat orthographic one which makes the in-game appearance of models and animations much more predictable, and facilitates mixing 2D & 3D assets (for instance, 3D characters which are easier to animate and modify, with 2D backgrounds, which are much easier to make).
Also, using 3D as part of the pipeline for 2D assets is cheaper than in-game 3D models.
Doesn't Nintendo own part of Kirby, though? If not, then what's stopping them from branching out nowadays? Besides one of their former bosses and founders having been a major part of Nintendo, which is what I suspect it is.
But that fact also tends to filter out people with lower skills and fosters creativity out of necessity.
I want to see a revival of the DKC/Killer Instinct 2D-3D style.
Nintendo has been using Kirby as the dumping grounds for every random game for ages, case in point Epic Yarn. I doubt a numbers-filed-off Kirby clone from HAL on another platform would be terribly upsetting.
And yes, I am butthurt to this day that the Sakurai-helmed 3D platformer version of Kirby 64 got shitcanned in favor of Shimomura's 2D one/Air Ride, and that because of this we will never ever get a real 3D Kirby platformer.
i liked kirby 64
Well, it's not that hard to imagine that cost if you break down what it's going toward which they did show. I think even people in the gaming industry could back that number up when it was brought up. I don't think you're seeing the cost of each thing, especially when it comes to a fighting game, regardless of the end result of its quality.
An artist has to make a ton of frames of animation, the programmer has to make sure that each action works with certain button presses to that animation, adjust hit boxes and making sure none of it crashes the game. The cost also included a story mode, a level and paying the voice actor. You can guess how much they cost but it isn't going to change how much the actual cost was. Paying someone a big amount of cash doesn't guarantee the quality will change that much. It just means someone was paid that amount to deliver the amount of effort they put at the time.
It might cost less but I think you're underestimating the cost of making a fighting game and how expensive making an actual good game is.
Are you talking about that one where Kirby would ride multiple enemies? Looked kinda shit, m8.
I'm not actually sure, but I get the feeling Nintendo would only pull the plug at fears of quality control Kirby has more or less been consistent in terms of quality, all I know is that Hal isn't owned by Nintendo and does what they want, but unlike Gamefreak Hal is loyal to Nintendo, Intelligent Systems appears to be the same, Personally I suspect that the lack of Advance Wars is Int Sys having more interest in Fire Emblem.
I legitimately want the Qbby Goymiibo.
Kirby has always felt unique as a platformer, I'd be interested in seeing it in 3d but how would it even translate into 3d and still be Kirby, I get the feeling a 3d Kirby would get lost in the stream of 3d platformers during the 5th gen, also being able to float doesn't feel like it would be fun in 3d.
Why? Technical limitations are the only reason it was done then. There's literally no reason to ever do that now.
You can still do it before release day nigger
How fucking tiny are your hands faggot? I think yours is a case of spilled milk or something the Banjo camera is fine for what it is.
He's right, though. The N64 controller was very comfy, but attempting to use all three prongs at once was contrary to its intended design.
...
2D physics with a 3D look? Simple stylistic choice?
I think 'under handed shilling' is going to be my new euphemism for masturbation.
...
Are you retarded? Using prerendered images and animations means you don't need to load a bunch of models and textures, the gpu only has to render static images instead of trying to figure out the position, angle, and environment of every single surface, and you can have everything rendered in much higher fidelity and detail than current hardware can do at a a playable rate. I wouldn't work very well for games with 3D movement, but other games can benefit from it.

Where does him even model these things?
Well you weren't. Focusing the camera isn't something you need to do excessively in that game and when you do need to do it, it's not do much of a hassle. The L button is easily reachable with either hand. Point is that Banjo and just about every Rare game has a serviceable camera. If Yooka doesn't that's incredibly fucking sad.

I haven't genuinely enjoyed platformers in any cogent memory I have, and I honestly feel like I retroactively disliked them as a child after recently attempting to replay a handful and being overcome with both boredom and frustration within minutes.
Ask me anything.
Same thing happens to me when I play turn based RPG's or Stealth games. It's just preference.
I think all first person shooters are boring and shit.
Ask me anything.
labzero also works/pays rent & salaries in one of the most expensive cities in america and outsources a significant amount of their animation pipeline
turbospergs like suge9 and styleos produced high quality animation at a much lower cost threshold
What are you, retarded? Go back where you came from.
gdc has its share of worthless shitters but there's also lots of valuable content on there.
That talk about different level editors was from GDC, wasn't it? That shit was great.
Why are you posting a jew
Tell me about Bane?
Why does he wear the mask?
This is why we can't have nice things
3D-Platformer Collect-a-Thons were never good.
Is this.. a joke?
There is nothing Holla Forums won't pirate
...
at this point I just assume if someone didn't fuck their game up it was either a fluke or intentional to get their foot in the door.
At least fucking pretend I mean goddamn.
I told you bro, I told you about Yacht Club. I never even liked Shovel Knight but I still told you.
Is there anyone who doesn't like it?
I genuinly think it's one of the best ones together with Dreamland 2.
Kirby 64 is one of the rare titles where I forgot how much time I spent on it because I was engrossed in how fun it was. It wasn't even particularly lengthy but I just remember it being so goddamn fun.
That being said, the best game is Kirby's Fun Pak.
Can you please explain what happened? Were they always SJWs or were they pressured, co-opted, infiltrated? Thought it was a good business investment?
Yes. They fluked the first game and the second game is what the first should have been. They're under no pressure to change either since nostalgia is their entire business model.
So, what's the reason they split from wayforward? Was it because of this SJW stuff, too? Because Bozon seems like a pretty normal guy who likes cute half naked girls, still.
Wayforward isn't indie at this point, they're more of a contractor company, and Shovel Knight needs to be indie.
They probably split from WayForward because they felt like it, they always love to cannibalize themselves.
I still had fun with Shovel Knight and this post wont change that but it doesnt make sense, its a video game, not some progressive message and shit.
With KS revivals they really tend to overload on nostalgia instead of the game. It gets them funded but its really noticable by now.
While real time shaders and lighting can be cool, every platform is struggling in terms of performance. If not for performance, then using prerendered images would save a ton on workload and budget. Who knows, you might not have to strap season passes and microtransactions to your game like a time bomb somehow hoping it will survive.
So Colonial Marines and Mighty No 9 are actually good games?
Source on these qts?
At least Carmageddon Reincarnation/Max Damage has game and tech.
I think Egoraptor said it was bad, so now lots of plebs think it's bad too.
LOL
twitter.com
Yooka-Laylee backers paid $1.4 million for a shitty DK Rap knockoff
But the stretch goal is 100k with 1.1m being the total.
Should fix his tweet, it was 1,100,000.
...
Devil's advocate:
They threw money at the project. They didn't necessarily do it for the cringe rap specifically.
To be fair it also included a N64 shader mode but nonetheless…
GBP was worth much more back in 2015
its more like 1 gbp = 1.50 usd back then so that would make it
$1,650,000
inb4 cognitive dissonance
Where did you get that line of thought from?
The OP is nothing more than "Ruh roh" and a screen cap of a review score…..
I guess its just the shitposters who used to be banned coming out of the woodworks or something. I dunno, I heard something about the banlist not being active.
Dude jontrons an ebil nazi let's kick him out of our game and piss off our fan base and then also refuse refunds even though we cut content lmao
So you thought that OP posting that meant he cared about the low score given to YL game? Not that he was informing other anons of the effects of the jontron/kickstarted/steamforum ban debacle?
Banlist is broken?
All these pozzed games getting shit scores on the pozzed sites isn't completely hilarious to you? Have you not been around for the past two years of video games media/developer bullfuckery?
Do you buy games based on review scores?
If yes then why do you value the opinion of strangers that are often bribed?
If no then why do you care when a game gets a low score?
I heard as such. So you shouldn't give him any replies. At the very best he is retarded and should just be told as such for not understanding the reason why OP is posting as such. Though I would say that the OP is also complete fucking garbage anyway.
If it's just Banjo, I don't think I'll bother with it. I kind of hoped it would be the next evolution of that style, rather than more of the same. While still very charming those games clearly have issues when I play them now. Like being absolutely piss easy now that I'm not a child who's shit at everything.
Did A Hat in Time ever come out? I always thought that looked more intersting.
Not really we have seen devs and publishers bend to retarded demands then get no sales for so long it's lost it's comedic value for me.
Sprite fags are the worst.
You're as dense as permeable concrete.
And even if they were focusing on that specific stretch goal, it was only part of it. It's equally possible that that were going for the shader mode, or even both of them.
Surely I must have been banned and returned while the list is down, there is no way my opinions should be allowed in this hugbox and god forbid you are forced to make a rational argument supporting your position on the validity of review scores.
I fucking hate what has happened to this place over the last 2.5 years
Hat in Time is in its final stages apparently, they were at PAX this year and keep releasing updates on their Kickstarter page stating it will be out by the end of 2017
SO JUST DO IT
I don't think it's a case where Holla Forums doesn't give a shit about review scores, it's that they can be used to make a very specific case when paired with other evidence (for non-AAA games that is, see below). Footage of the game has been criticized for showcasing barren, stretched-out levels. Some reviews affirm that this is a problem. You don't have to accept everything in every review; you can get a general sense of what the games problems (or draws, in the case of SJW-detested games or "waaaah I can't just mash one button to win") are by looking at Metacritic.
Also, it is really fun seeing a company bend over backwards for NeoFAG and still get shit on by reviewers. The Jontron thing was entirely about getting on the good side of the journo clique. They probably didn't realize that the only thing reviewers actually care about is bribes (which is why you should just ignore reviews of any AAA game).
Replying to it, just validates his shitposting and causes him to do it more. He knows everything you said and he doesn't care. He is only here to fuck up the thread and cry about how shit Holla Forums is for no reason.
While I agree gameplay footage can provide some idea of how a game plays I prefer simply pirating before buying so I know for sure I'm not funding shitty devs.
As for them getting shit on after choking on SJW cock it is good for a laugh but only sales matter and it's way to early to know if they are going to be commercially successful or not.
He made an argument I partially agree with and we are engaging in discourse, why are you here if you can't handle different opinions without burying your head in the sand?
I guess I should have used the bait flag.

9/11 worth every penny
vanguard princess
Guys.
They finally disabled the comments on the YL Rap video.
THERE IS NOT A MEASURABLE ALTITUDE FOR MY CURRENT KEK LEVEL
Did the GBP go the way of the Zimbabwean dollar without me noticing?
$1,650,000
Where did it all go so wrong?
Hey guys, here's some yookalaylee R34.
What you mean the development or their mentality? Because you already know the communists/jews infesting education and media is the cause of their mental incapabilities.
Did they disable likes/dislikes as well?
Both. This game seemed like a sure thing ready to print money, and from the looks of it, both the game and the studio will be dead in less than a week.
Comments aren't disabled, stop pretending to be retarded.
Well on the development side, I have never seen any of these communist scum actually do something successfully. Couldn't even properly indoctrinate people over the span of a hundred or so years. So I'm just going to blame that as well. I mean, as you see in their mentality they're always blaming everything on anything else and they aptly refuse to see any fault in what they're doing at any time, so there is no possible way they could improve upon themselves when they have no self-reflection. I reckon they saw people enjoying the toybox and decided that that was where their bar would be set. And then in quite obvious a fashion there's going to be a lot of content that is below that bar because they assume that everything they're doing is right and that naysayers are evil haters and probably even voted Trump.
Leftists have been wrong, and I mean wrong, about pretty much everything they've ever said in the past 100 years.
And when they're wrong they don't just throw a tantrum, their fuckups kill millions of people. Now imagine what happens when you adopt an ideology that can only produce disaster after disaster to game development.
There's a reason leftist developers keep failing to make a good game.
Well yes, certainly.
The cycle is forever.
I enjoy seeing comments like yours. Makes me hope for a new UID post record.
...
I never said that pirating then buying was bad. Just pirating and then complaining. I pirate then buy a game. I never said that was bad, but it seemed like everyone wasnt going to support it, and they usually dont.
Well if you pirate something and don't like it enough to complain I don't see why it's an issue either. Still, there's never been a game that was ruined by piracy that didn't deserve it. Fuck I can't even think of any that have.
It's neat in a hokey way. Reminds me of old raps like DON'T COPY THAT FLOPPY, so even if you don't know what the DK rap is, you can still find it funny. That said, it was shitty of them to announce this as a stretch goal featuring Grant Kirkhope even though they hadn't approached him.
You didn't say much of anything, in fact, so you can't blame the other user for thinking you opposed something you criticized. Piracy before purchase is the gold standard for video games in this pozzed age, so I don't know why you'd even criticize people pirating it.
The fact that you couldn't do it when you wanted to was the whole problem. Good luck if you want to move the camera while actually in any action, which is common, such as when you're attempting to shoot things, like the last boss. I know it's supposed to be hard, but not because you can't aim at shit because of the camera not lining up properly.
Why do you have such bad taste? Platformers, 2D and 3D, are literally the only good video game genres. But it's irrelevant because Rare didn't make platformers after Donkey Kong Country. After that they made collectathons without much, if any, jumping.
No, they were, but Banjo and Conker and DK64 weren't those anyway. Mario 64 and 3D Raymans and Spyro were closer to that, though. Jak & Daxter, too.
100%ing Banjo is pretty hard, though.
This is probably the worst bait I've ever read and I'm certain this is the worst post ever made in the history of imageboards.
user, if you're going to make a b8 post you need to apply yourself. If this is the best you can POSSIBLY do, then I advise you to go back to 4chan, not for our sake but for yours.
Fine, go play games that aren't platformers. Have fun with your boredom.
I was raised in the 16/32 bit gens, when platformers were king. I've been stuck in a state of arrested development ever since. I just want games to be like when I was a kid.
Politics = Pirate.
I don't care if this is the best game ever. Devs let politics shit everything up, they get no money from me. Especially after being rude to BACKERS. Unacceptable. Thanks to the user who provided a magnet link.
For some reason, the way they animate Yooka, the devs kind of wanted to give him a slavic youngster look.
Look how he sits on the Yooka laylee rap looking everywhere for stalkers and distrusting his environment
and look at the wigger attitude in general.
Why? I mean I can guess why, but why?
Again I don't really get your problem. Focus your camera before you make an action? But the camera is usually decent enough for you not to need one. The final boss was more of an issue with the controlling in first person. Again though all I'm saying is the camera is serviceable. It's not the best but Rare at the time were one of the best with cameras on the N64. More so than Nintendo.
it shows up more in 'my opinion is absolute fact' than the platformer autism.
if you like certain games better than others, it doesn't make it fact that everyone will actually never mind you're just an idiot
wew
And? Don't get me wrong the game's probably shit g and the devs are cucks, but since when has anyone on Holla Forums taken professional reviewers opinions seriously?
They can get paid if it's good enough
They can get paid if they apologize for removing JonTron, restore his voice role, either have the anime-haired faggot fired or swear to never work with Studio17 again, and call Neogaf a pack of perpetually offended, cancerous faggots.
You need to learn how to read, you fucking retard.
techraptor.net
All the people worth listening too are saying that same thing. That it's exactly what was advertised.
????
Nigga what are you on?
Jesus, Ryan Gosling get it together.
...
Wait, this seems fucked. I try to extract the crack files to replace in the game files, but 7zip tells me there's a data error and it can't fully extract them.
got a torrent?
Got an archive for that?
There is literally nothing wrong with saving damsels.
They gained it back I think, check the other thread
You can have an evil corporate suit without it being propaganda.
He could have argued with that one guy better, but otherwise, yes, he is /ourbraveboy/.
