FAQs
1. What is an OtoMAD? An OtoMAD is a musical composition created by taking samples from various sources (gay porn, anime, and such) and remixing them into a song.
2. What is a YTPMV? YTPMV is an acronym for YouTube Poop Music Video. It's the western equivalent of OtoMAD. They mean essentially the same thing, but in practice OtoMADs and YTPMVs typically use different samples.

youtube-dl is what i use, in conjunction with various things i've written. i run my script and it'll download the most recent mads under the main tag, and then start downloading content by author, sorted by their total number of videos marked as good and very good. my collection has gotten very large now, but once i get through all of it, i'll have a very good data set by which to find more good content.
if anyone speaks japanese, please let me know. there's another archivist in japan that i've been meaning to contact, I think he might have copies of many of the older MADs that have been wiped from nico. as an example, there was this very very good inmu of one of the pieces from the ico soundtrack. to my knowledge, the only record of it exists in a compilation video that this user made, but he might have a full copy of it. I'll post a link to the video in which it's shown if anyone is interested.
