Explosives, like traps in the first games, is the most underrated skill you can possibly take in this game.

Get survival for the perk that gives you HP regen per second based on how Irradiated you are.

Super-heated knife is for critical builds and sneak attacks. War club is amazing because it snowballs so hard. War Club honors stacks with Melee Hacker and Slayer and with Superslam you just end up wailing on dudes who can't really fight back against your wooden club berzerker assault.

Going through another play through right now and it has been a while but have started using a lot of mods you guys have posted this time. Nevada Skies is seriously good, the moods and weather effects have changed the game for me dramtically for the better, ELECTRO CITY is also very good and works well with NS. How come none of you have Killable Children? When I finish my game up I dust the experience off by killing every living thing on the map. EVERYTHING. What do you guys think of "A World of Pain"? I have it but not tried it yet but the new areas and underground expansion look potentially sweet and adding hours on to the game. Project Nevada, along with all the other mods I have added on to this has made me get 10 hours and only being level 9 at Novac.

Get X-1 and listen to comfy scifi radio shows while exploring the wasteland. You'll end up stopping in your tracks to hear the gripping conclusions more than actually playing.

Melee is ridiculously OP. Especially when you get the knock down perks and basically everything becomes a chump.

I think my biggest regret in gaming is that I will never play something as great as Fallout: New Vegas ever again. New Vegas is like a second home to me, I know everything about the game and I love it to death but there won't be anything that I will love as much as it ever again, Obsidian is dead and all the great talent left and all we are left with is a game made with reused assets that was probably the best game of 2010 to 2013. I still haven't done the DLCs though.

In my personal experience, I have played HH third before DM and OWB never started Lonesome Road, I don't fucking know why; I have this autistic feeling that if I finish that last bit of the game I'll lost my interest in NV forever, and I felt Honest Hearts to be way much shorter that the other 2, in terms of game length and content

Dead Money had this survival horror-like atmosphere with this surreal casino heist (which, by the way, I'm suprised that there is no DLC for Payday 2 with this theme), Old World Blues had the wacky humor, literally a parody of the mad scientist of the sci-fi movies of the same 60s era.
Honest Hearts? Yeah, lets put 2 tribal forces (that have zero interest) to fight each other, oh, and the Burned Man is in there, as some kind of side NPC, instead of being the main protagonist of the story.

And I have to agree with , Burned Man was the only reason why I dragged myself to the end of that DLC; if the guy wasn't in there, HH could easily been shit, like the FO3 ones

Project Nevada alone adds 50 guns I think, but Essential Visual Enhancements makes the pew pews feel a lot more satisfying. Go get Millenia's weapons, they're all very high quality, but EVE is the way to go if you love the clearly superior battery over the bullet.

Do it. My suggestions as a energy weapon pro are:
Get the recharger rifle from the General Store to not have to waste ammo during the start.
Buy bulk cells.
RECYCLE CELLS!
Pick up Fission Batteries and make more SEC with them by charging empty ones up, for 4 SEC "cases" and 1 fission you get 25 cells, you need 50 sci to do this, so put points in it.
Tag skills should be energy weapons, science and repair.
As always, put charisma to 1, luck to 8 and max out intelligence, other points use as you wish.
Get Finesse and Laser Commander and take critical perks.
I can't remember much more, it's been a year since I did a energy only run but I started a cowboy survivalist run recently.

I'll make sure to keep that in mind one week from now when I get all of my mods set up and working properly again

There are like three massive issues with the settlement system in Fallout 4 that make it a big ol' piece of shit.

Wasteland Settler is better if only because the jank can be forgiven, and because it doesn't actively intrude on the rest of the game.

It's boring on a story and quest front. A literal fetch quest DLC where you fight a chaotic evil villain surrounded by boring characters. I always thought of it more as an exploration focused DLC, Obsidian tried to capture some of that Bethesda shit by adding a more open area to wander around in to make up for the lack of it in Vegas.

A World of Pain ranges from decent to shit. Almost all of the new NPCs and quests are garbo, but some of the dungeons added are pretty good. If you want more places to run through and shoot shit in, nab it. If you want more story content, stick with Someguy.

Fix your load order? Sounds like a mod conflict or a fucked file somewhere.

I have no idea how to use a mod manager, how meticulous and cumbersome is it to just throw them in your data folder and get it working, what disadvantage does that have over the manager.

I use NMM for smaller stuff because it's really fast to work with, but some mods need specialized installations with mod managers.

IIRC those dudes in sports gear and throwing spears have actually routed NRC conscripts numerous times. Sure, NRC has standard issue rifles but the typical conscript is so poorly trained and the army is so ramshackle that squad cohesion and morale are poor.

You can remove borders, but nobody has actually expanded it, no. There are plenty of mods that add entirely new areas to explore, however.

It's mostly outdoor areas with battles between different factions in the game. There are a few new interiors added I think, it's been a while since I played it since it doesn't fit with DUST.
Some new weapons and stuff if I remember correctly as well.

Spawns are adjustable though.

I use Warzones, improved wastelands spawns, and AWOP. Between the massive battles happening in the mojave, the spawns of different factions being randomly spawned, and often fighting each other because two rival factions are spawning at once, and the awop pats and random npcs added everywhere, I lag a lot in certain areas. It gets normal once you kill a couple dozen of them, but the battles are so massive between all the AI packages, the shell casings the game is trying to remember from CaliberX and the massive death and combat, it's hard for the engine to handle. It's fun as all hell though. Especially when you decide not to fast travel and try to travel cross country. Going from vegas to the 188 is an actual ordeal, and a life or death situation worse than the divide.
