I have two problems with roleplaying a romance with Miranda:

1. She's totally pro-Cerberus. Cerberus has not only done horrible things to aliens, it's done unconscionable things to patriotic human soldiers. Really, removing the shit aspects of a game and focusing on the good isn't a bad thing. Nobody remembers that now so every game is open world with tens of hours of repetitive boring content.

Unlike ME1 where you dump points into badly explained skills, in ME2 everything you level up significantly changes your gameplay. A trained soldier being completely inept with guns is weird, but having a bunch of skills for each gun is even weirder. Most active gun skills boil down to "you can shoot accurately for 15 seconds, then it's back to shit".
Fitness is also a retarded skill, considering that your health rises with your level.
Combat armor is a complete shit idea as well, it is essentially "dump points here until you can wear better armor.
There is also nothing to gain by having 12 points in each fucking category, most of it is minor percentage increases. It is even worse when there are clear break points (like gaining ability to wear heavy armor), the rest is seen as useless.

Mass Effect 2 focused more on active skills, dumped useless stats and added better multiple paths for each ability. I only object to the removal of charm/intimidate.

I always ended up playing engineer or such, mostly because I prefer pistols to rifles, and tend to like the sort of hacking, repair, and so on aspects. Though, I'm fairly sure you can do those last couple without playing an engineer anyway.
