When I was a lifeguard in highschool there was a severally autistic boy, about 12 years old, who came to the pool almost every day. Brought by either the father or helper. If the parent kept telling him to slow down the boy would go find the nearest "Wet Floor" sign, pick it up, run to the top of the slide, and throw the sign down the slide. After which he would go down after it, usually giggling with a big grin on his face.

As someone who has a family member who is severely autistic I kinda find it fucked up that its some new hot thing everybody has to have and portray.

I know a bunch of this shit because I was interested in it as a kid. I had the zoobooks shit, I would buy up books on animals and insects when I could. I was always outside catching bugs and looking for snakes and lizards. Basically all sorts of classic little boy things. I grew up in a suburb that was also next to a bunch of farm fields (weird area, not exactly rural but not without rural elements) so I had that suburban life near a big city but I also had that rural aspect I could play in.
