Spooky log entry

Can anyone tell me what StopVoiceRecording() and ResetVoiceRecording() is? I can't find any documentation on it and I'm paranoid that Gaben/NSA are listening to me breathe while playing sourcemods

And no, I haven't used voice chat in years

Of fucking course steam spies on you.
Holy fucking shit, how somebody so dumb could even find this place? I bet you think that your chrome and windows don't spy on you as well.

I'm asking if steam spies to the degree that it's recording my voice

Not "uhhhh… does steam collect data or not??"

Transmitting voice recordings takes a good chunk of data, definitely enough that you should be able to see Steam constantly uploading shit if you actually look at network activity. What this most likely is is someone accidentally leaving some debug code in the release version.

God I hate you virtue signalling niggers more each passing day.

This, sound bytes are too big to be practical in a mass data harvest situation. Maybe for a few isolated cases, but standard practice would cost more than any potential gain.

...

Are you telling me that distrusting big companies isn't considered a virtue on Holla Forums? It's not the SJW kind of virtue signalling, but it's virtue signalling nonetheless.

He's right, though.

STEAM IS SPYING ON ALL OF US THINK ABOUT IT

WE ARE FORCED NOW TO BUY DIGITAL/NON-PHYSICAL GAME DICKS JUST TO PLAY GAMES. IT'S SO THAT WE CAN ALWAYS BE TRACED BACK AND IN SOME CASES ALWAYS ONLINE

WE SHOULDNT HAVE TO USE STEAM JUST TO PLAY GAMES, WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PHYSICALLY BUY THEM AND PUT A PHYSICAL DISK IN

GABE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT US, HE HAS SOLD US OUT

...

this is well known and valve's been doing it for years. They claim it's part of the anti-cheat but steam has been doing it for a long time.

I know nothing about code but i'm assuming the 0's in all the
means it was never recording, 0 means off…right?

Seems to me that it's just checking if you use mic or not.

Mainly because brick-and-mortar stores typically stopped carrying regular PC games and only sold consoleshit and multiplat shit.

1490051879 seconds is 47 years

...

2017 - 47 = 1970

I bet you don't tape your monitor camera either

Cuckchan tier thread.

There would be no reason to upload the full voice recording in most cases. That much audio would be a pain to sort through. If there's mass audio surveillance happening the voice recordings are converted to transcripts before being uploaded.

replies are giving me more cancer than the op
