Just extract the contents of the disks into the same directory. The game literally expects you to use the same drive path when installing from CD so mounting both at the same time breaks it. All the patch exes are just scripts to move shit from the patch folder to the game directory folder. You never have to install illusion games, just drag and drop the shit.
