How does this board feels about procedural content?

Underutilized and lends to sloppy or outright lazy design instead.

Dev buzzword for being too lazy to work so lets repeat everything and say its being "created" as you go. Avoid at all costs.

An interesting idea, but it's often bogged down by lazy developers expecting it to do all the work for them.

...

It's alright in some cases, but usually it's used by lazy devs as an excuse to not actually do any thoughtful designing.

It's shit but it can be not shit sometimes.

How this board feels about procedural threads?

basically this.

it depends on what is generated. if you're talking about the world being 100% procedurally generation, it's often times shit. sometimes it is done right, like how levels are created in Risk of Rain, Warframe, and even Terraria.

Is Risk of Rain really procedurally generated though? There's randomness, yeah, but that's about it.

/thread

YOU CAN DO ANYTHIIIING

except have fun

The only randomized game I like is Binding of Isaac

Sometimes terrific like in Daggerfall's huge dungeon and at the same time, Neat.
But it was Daggerfall, one of its kind.

He looks like he just shat his pants

it's shit
nice dubs tho

I think brogue has quite nice proceduraly generated levels

Find me someone who prefers the planets in No Man's Sky to Hyrule in Breath of the Wild. I'll wait.

what?

...

You know he's right.

Top quality post tbh
