It's just a continuation of instilling authority in Germans, nothing more. Pre WW2 it was directed towards nationalism, now it is directed towards a liberal understanding of an open and free Germany (i.e. nationalism delite which is actually more disgusting since it is insincere). Denazification never actually happened on a large or influental enough basis to be effective in the long term which means the same traits that made WW1 and WW2 possible are still present in Germans.
