I've always found playing as the bad guys more fun. Sure, being a criminal is not moral behavior in Grand Theft Auto, but it's usually more fun than stopping crime and isn't fun what we play vidya for?

Oh, I clicked on this thread expecting you to complain about story's that are not black and white but your complaining about poz.

The main problem is that it's not played straight, they have you playing as the underdog while taking chances at shoving whatever college buzzword they can in there. It even makes sense if you think about the purposed audience: kids are ready to believe what most of their environment and their caretakers say, and most college faggots are pozzed to hell and back.
This thread could extend into games that do it right, but OP asked about going commando on clearly defined bad guys.

And I'm out of new games to recommend. Pehaps the latest Rainbow Six fits the bill, but that's multiplayer. Modern setting games are far too gone, I recommend trying other genres and settings; on top of the best advice that has already been given on this thread: Only games made by small teams have a chance of being good as a whole these days. I would rather put money on an open source project that could crash and burn or meet its goals than on a game that will be mediocre at best, propaganda at worst.
