What are you playing right now ? Pick a game and tell us the things the things that you enjoy about it and stuff you don't.

At the moment I'm playing Enter the Gungeon, a pixelshit roguelite.

Wow, amazing. Anyway

Castlevania SOTN Hard Type on Retroarch
Good:

Bad:

Yes I do prefer simple bilinear filtering to huge fucking pixels that I didn't see on TV as a kid

I remember playing the shit out of this shortly after its release on PSX, it was my first experience in the genre and it was really amazing.
Also afterwards I realized that I got a lot of rare drops only because I was an autist that farmed every enemy constantly. Ironically despite the ridiculous amount of time I spent on it I never discovered that you could save Richter.

So close…

I'm replaying Divinity: Original Sin and doing a first time playthrough of Virtue's Last Reward.

The best part about D:OS is how every single fight is meaningful. Every single battle you are looking at your options, looking at what your opponent is or what they might have up their sleeves, looking at the terrain and how it can be abused, your items to be thrown at the enemy (because the game tosses you items all the time you are encouraged to keep using them) and how do you deal with enemy mobs that are 90% of the time more numerous than you are. The AI is surprisingly good.
The bad is how quickly the game punishes you for a mistake in the overworld because there is no pause to cycle through your spells in the hotbar to quickly cast a healing or rain spell on your party after you trigger an invisible trap and blow everybody up in your party. It just encourages you to quicksave all the fucking time though, but still very annoying.

Virtue's Last Reward is a VN with branching paths so eh, depends on whether you like that sort of thing or not. What I will say is I am getting really frustrated at a branch being suddenly cut off and getting cockblocked out of an ending because I need to play the other regions. It is a massive downer when the story is building up to finally give you some sort of narrative conclusion and then you are hit with "LOL NOPE GO AND LEARN THIS PASSWORD SOMEPLACE ELSE". It is especially frustrating because it only happened ONCE in 9P9H9D.

Yodenmod for Empire at War FoC

Good Stuff: Ships in land combat, fuckton of factions with lots of stuff and some interesting maps

Bad Stuff: It's a complete clusterfuck of low quality models, some higher quality ones, missing textures, unstable, has nu-canon shit like the not-Death Star, and every faction has a couple super laser units for space combat.

Problem with not saving Richter is that you deny yourself like half the game.
As a kid I also finished game a few times before unlocking the second castle. There was so much new, mysterious and interesting shit in there, I had dreams about sotn for years, where I accidentally find new secret room or new secret story branch.
Some got pretty autistic too.

Even now on this 2017 playthrough I for the first time in my life found out that there is a secret room in the entrance area that opens only when you pass through rock mass as a bat and as a wolf at least once.
How the fuck somebody is even supposed to figure it out?

It's a world in conflict like RTT based on the obvious. The kicker is how you play as the good guys.
The palette's a bit washed out and the UI is often occasionally a pain but otherwise surprisingly fun.

I honestly hope you'll grow out of that shit meme. I get what it means when something clicks for you and you ignore varied bullshit over muh comfy but either we played different games or you're high as kite while you play it.

Take ToEE; bland, generic story but you've got a full team with customization, no co-op shoehorned shit and TBC that blew OS straight out of the water.

Shore thang onii-chan.

Polite sage off-topic.

No user, I'm simply being polite in both offering you a decent alternative to that halfbaked socjus made piece of shit and assuming that you simply don't know better and are lying out the ass by accident. If it's a wasted effort so be it.

Well you haven't said anything about why one is better than the other in terms of combat, and I have played ToEE. Liking one game does not mean disliking another, especially when combat is different enough between them to appreciate the difference.

Feel free to elaborate how it is pozzed, assuming you have more to say than just the female armor bullshit which admittedly was shit.

By second castle you mean the inverted castle or did I miss even more shit playing the game ?

Yes inverted castle.
I wish there was 3rd one, even if small like in OoE.

I fucking love you, user. I went on the game steam page and it's overflowing with liberal salt.

Hey, thank the based user that first spread the word and the magnet.

I can't even tell if you're for real or just baiting me with this shit, it's like I'm reading twatter arguments 101: Holla Forumsuter edition. You started with arguably lies single fight is meaningful; The AI is surprisingly good; the game punishes you for a mistake then you advanced into passive aggressive dismissal and now you're dissembling like your life depended on it.

I liked the two PC mechanic back in the Beyond Divinity when it wasn't a co-op gimmick. The character development in OS is heavily stacked for (specialized) mages spamming the same two-three abilities until you're clear, and the dialogue/story is deprived of any meaningful CnC aka the one thing usually decent in wrpgs. The AI was shit on launch and I didn't find it any less shit with the enhanced edition.

As for Larian, between their headfags blog, their twitter episodes, the selfcensoring, the dragon commander straight up libshit and their forum shit it's harder to find instances when they're not libshit.

Now if you're looking for a fairly modern "tactical crpg" Blackguards, Eisenwald, Irontower shit, Serpent in the Staglands, Underrail or Aarklash Legacy to name a few offer better mechanics and a world that's actually interesting. Alternatively there are a couple of upcoming titles such as Expeditions: Viking that may end up decent.

Nobody likes a trumpcuck, dude. Dont be that guy.

You are really shit at this, you know?

I've been playing some Gungeon recently too, I think Pilot is the most interesting character since he's really about acquiring more items than the other characters so there's more opportunities to have a good run.

I'm almost finished with Hard West, a small budget SRPG with cowboys and demons.
On the other hand

You must be new here.

Is this game actually good, or is it just useful for collecting tears?

Speaking of Gungeon, what the hell are you supposed to do with this guy ? He has a cape and never attacks, I tried bumping into him and it did nothing. I waited a while and then he just dissapeared.
Maybe I should try charming him next time.

I'm playing Front Mission. Better than Fire Emblem. I like the fact that you can customize your Wanzers to some degree, it triggers my autism like Armored Core and Sonic Battle does.

You're talking to a board full of that guys, so fuck right off

Cum on step it up.

Wew. Is there one achievement per item unlock or something ?

secret character. see him 5 times and wait for him to disappear to unlock him.

fuck
Also I'm doing only the non-DLC ones for now

Every item unlock has an achievement.

Oh noice, I actually wanted to play as a bullet since I saw the first enemies. Hope he's not shit. Thanks mate.

I see, makes sense then.

Picked up pic related when it was on sale. Played the fuck out of the original in high school.

Good Shit:
Game is as fun as it ever was and the updated graphics look really nice.

Bad Shit:
The remastered version only includes the base game with neither of the expansions. The Conflux town I could do without (as it was boring and uninspired), but not having the map generator and artifacts/creatures added later sucks. It's also a bit disappointing not having the other campaigns available… Shadow of Death in particular I remember enjoying.

I just played Magic 2014 for probably the last time. I picked it up for like a buck and I'll grant that I got about a buck's worth of utility out of it. I still have buyer's remorse though.

The good:

The bad:

Good times, we had this and AoE 2 in our IT room PCs

Wew. Last time I saw this shit it was in PD20

Kerbal Space Program with mods.

No other game like it so it's worth playing regardless.
It's one of those eternal early access games that simply copies from mods instead of coming up with unique things. It may technically be released, but it was an arbitrary release for no purpose other than to get more money out of the game before the devs quit. There's now a tiny skeleton crew shitting out updates every great once in a while that are just ideas from mods that have been around for years.
The game is terribly made in Unity, eats up shitloads more RAM than it needs to, and has pretty awful physics that breaks more often than not. I can't stress enough just how much RAM this game uses. I think without mods it uses 2-3GB of RAM, but with mods it uses upwards of 7GB. I think they just shunt everything into memory because they coded the base code so terribly that it would be unplayably slow to load from storage. Initial load times for the game are bad without mods, but with mods it takes up to 10 minutes on my first-gen SSD. Initial load is limited by the engine, so SSD speeds don't matter in that aspect, but on in-game loads like going from vehicle assembly building to the map SSDs save SHITLOADS of time over an HDD. Think 30 second or more load times on HDD versus 5-10 seconds on SSD.
Overall, the game was just on the cusp of being a total disaster, but the mechanics are pretty fun and the difficulty is pretty spot on, making up for these faults. There are many, many things about the game that could be improved from both design and technical standpoints. There are several aspects of the game that should be changed completely.
The game still uses royalty free assets- a symptom of it being eternal early access masquerading as a finished product. All the music is royalty free stuff that you've heard before.
There are still implemented features that are incomplete, like ground scatter: various static terrain elements like rocks and trees that have no collision. Kerbin is still using that royalty free continent map. The space center is still conveniently sat right in the middle of a featureless flat field like it was in the very early stages of development, which is a terrain feature that exists nowhere else.

We're honestly lucky that the devs gave up on the game. Who knows what they could have done to ruin it.
This game took the exact same road as Minecraft. It's almost uncanny.

Seems more and and more games are becoming like abusive relationships nowadays.
Well at least now that it's released you don't have to worry about what could have been.

when you don't even need to complete games to get paid anymore, all the scumbags come out of the woodwork to ruin everything

True. I'm lucky since the only EA game I got was Project Zomboid and when I bought it in 2011 Early Access didn't even exist. Didn't prevent the devs from shitting the bed though, it's been 6 years and the game is still in alpha.

theHunter: Call of the Wild
+It's really fucking pretty
+It's super comfy and the maps are very big
+It's just realistic enough to be entertaining but not enough to be too cumbersome in my opinion
+Oh my god it looks so good
+The shooting and the related phsycis feel good
+It captures the feel of hunting really well, landing a clean killshot from 200m feels good as does landing a wounding shot and then tracking the bleeding animal
+Did I mention how good it looks, especially the dynamic weather

-It's pretty buggy, I've not ran into anything gamebreaking but a lot of annoyances likes settings not saving, animals stuck in geometry etc.
-I'm not too sure how it'll be supported in the future
-In the end it's pretty repetitive so I don't know how long it'll last, I've played 8h so far and still want to play more
-It has multiplayer but little incentive to play it other than being with other people, there are no online leaderboards
-The multiplayer can be a little dodgy with sync
-There's no trophy system like largest antlers, biggest kill etc. other than arbitary score on each kill

Thanks
Gonna check it out

Night In The Woods
-Not spooky at all for a game called night in the woods
-Very little gameplay, mainly narritive and jumping and minor puzzles
-Story ends without any fucking payoff
-/+Writing varies from okay to "anarchy is good fuck the police" but it makes sense because the characters are edgy 20-something trash and the game acknowleges it
-Them acknowleging it doesn't make it any better
-Main character is entirely unlikable, socially inept and a leech
-/+Game supports this notion, but the character doesn't really develop as the game goes on
-At least 1 gay couple, maybe two
-Left developers, game mentions socialism and anarchy and shit

+Rhythm minigames are fun
+Artstyle is nice
+All the characters that aren't the main character have good moments
-Most of the secondary characters also have plenty of bad moments
+OST is great
+Game shittalks modern colleges and useless degrees that don't end in jobs
-/+Writing is so washy that I can't tell if I'm supposed to support this notion or think the main character is being a sperg
+Environments are mostly comfy, has a nice small town feeling

-No closure whatsoever, feels like the game was rushed or there's a hidden ending or something
-Game is too long to make hidden endings viable, no checkpoint system to go back either so if there is a hidden ending you have to replay the entire game to get it

Intrigued me enough to pirate and play then fucking left me unsatisfied. Wouldn't reccomend.

Nigger you're going to love Front Mission 3 and Front Mission 5 Scars of War (there's a fanmade English patch that's nothing short of impressive).

I'm on the last stretch of Final Fantasy X. Assuming the last few bosses are as easy as I think they'll be, I could've beaten it last night, but finding out there's another dungeon after four fucking phases of Sin totally killed my hype.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (PC)

The game play is great. Smash through a horde of small fries trying to get ridiculously high combos then fight another student who has abilities on par with your own. After a couple of sessions you've played all there is to play and then you forget about it.

I heard Senran Kagura Estival Versus is coming to PC. I'll probably check that out when it comes out.

Why do the girls in these games have to look so terrible? It's not like DOA nor do they look like proper anime girls, they just have terrible balloon tits and the same proportions. I don't get why you would sell a game on the tits then make those tits look terrible.

Earth Defense Force 4.1

Good

Bad

because the japanese made this garbage

But the japs make other good titty games,so why is SK so bad?

Lack of effort. Most of the asses on the models look 100% flat. Granted this is a PSVita port so I'm not surprised the models lack lots of curve and depth. Another effortless thing they do is have all these costumes but half of them are actually just recolors of another skin.

They don't even take the time to understand whats fun about the game play. Trying to play thru the main story and having to change characters for every mission means I never know for sure how each character handles despite the fact that they're overly similar. Then when you get to the end missions the game gets really fun playing on hard the bosses starts to get hard and you have to utilize all of the game mechanics to beat them reliably. Too bad that lasts for 5 missions then you've finished the last chapter in that school and you're back to the beginning and have to go thru the boring grind of leveling up and learning new characters for a many hours just so you can play two or so hours worth of good gameplay.

Still I enjoyed my time with it.

I'm playing Duelyst off and on

I like that it's a turn based tactics CCG, but I don't like that it's on a tiny basic chess-style board
The devs are also getting pretty jewish lately

But I'm not even talking about the gameplay, the models look terrible. Hell even the official art looks better, but the models are barbie doll tier. Why the gulf?

Just use CE to skip the grind tbh.
If you don't go overboard with armor values it's fine.(I set it to give me 100 armor every inferno mission, so progression is smooth)

I imagine a major reason why the models look so bad is because its some of the most expensive thing to develop. I remember hearing about all the time and money that went into the physics and models in DoAX3. Although upon looking up the price for this game on steam they're probably really wasteful of resources. Are there any other similar games with superior graphics to compare to this?

I'm playing Gun Hazard for the second time. I don't remember it being this repetetive. The gameplay kind of sucks because the screen is so small you always end up shooting people in melee range.

Thanks mate. I played the demo and got up to where you get to have sex with the Amazon queen. Thought the game was pretty cool.

You're welcome. You can have sex with her and then murder her in cold blood.

Just beat this (Armored Gunhound EX) for the first time. It's your typical 2D mecha run'n'gun. It plays alright, but there's better out there. What story there is, is typical dumb anime, but it's not really intrusive. The game is really short, though. It has a lot of unlockable weapons, but unlocking them all is just grinding for points. The guy who did a lot of Thunder Force music worked on the soundtrack, so that's a big plus.

My character went back for round two but they attacked me so they had to die.

How are you playing Ps1 games on retroarch?
I have the bios but have no idea where to put

If you're stupid enough to support Trump, why would I listen to you? Stay bullied, cuck.

The Bullet starts with a sword that has Zelda rules (sword beam at full health) and can delete bullets by cutting them. So yeah, not shit.

SaGa Frontier.

I like its engaging gameplay and freedom, and I dig the backgrounds and music. But I do wish that the game gave you more info on the combo system. It feels that the high damage combos appear rather through random experimentation than due to my own thinking.

the creature becomes relevant near the end.

Would anons be interested in a weekly bread about trying a new game ? The OP would contain brief infos on the game and a magnet link and then people post their thoughts on the game. I also wanted to make a Jagged Alliance 2/gorilla warfare thread but I'm waiting to start a new playthrough before doing that.

It would definitely be video games at least.
Who's going to stop you?

Well I guess you're right. I'm hesitating between a few games but I'm probably gonna go with Volgarr. I don't know if many anons already played it, I'll try making a thread tonight.

Like a games book club? Yeah, I would be interested. This was tried a while back but the OP made the mistake of letting people decide what game by popular vote resulting in more people not getting their choice than getting it. Ended up being more shitposting than anything else and never got off the ground.

If you're going to try again you'd be best just selecting a game and making that the game of the week instead of polling anons. You'll also have to make sure that game is both good and something not many people have played as well as not having some trait that will immediately turn people off. For example pixelshit, indie trash, and nostalgiafaggotry are all big nonos.

Yeah that was fear too, that the game isn't suitable and the thread goes to shit/dies in a day. We'll see how it goes, first thread might get shitposted to death but I'm hesitating between Volgarr the Viking and Valdis Story.

Devil Daggers

Good shit:

The bad shit:

Postal 2, after hearing it got an expansion pack I decided to download it again. Went through main game and AW quickly to see what the new expansion was, haven't really started that yet. One thing I hated about AW was how it forces you to kill stuff whereas in vanilla game complete pacifist playthrough is possible, I hope it's possible too in the expansion pack

Also checked the steamspy and it looks like it sold about 1,5 m. I'm surprised I didn't know this game was that popular

+Best OST I've heard in years

Atlas Reactor:
+Pretty fun
+Free(as in free beer)
+Doesn't seem to be p2w
+Blackburn's voice is A++ and is pretty likable for generic soldier dude

-Most of the writing is lame "quirky and random" stuff
-Turns take forever because every animation has to play out one by one
-Not even remotely as deep as Tastee or Frozen Synapse
-Steep prices for freelancers
-Lockwood has an airport runway for a forehead and it's distracting as shit

Tower Unite.

Positives:

Cons:
So far, it's a fun diversion. Hanging out with a group is still a thing, people have built whole functional theaters in their houses with either giant televisions or projectors, you can load up shit that's not even on youtube, it doesn't even block you from loading porn. They really need to start finding ways to incentivize people to socialize, or it'll just suffer from the same thing day after day, people loading up the casinos and just sitting on the slot machines hoping to hit it big. Gambling is a disease. Game as a whole has a long way to go. Screenshots spoilered for mad cancer.

Rainbow Six 3: Gold Edition with Raven Shield 2.0. Thought I played it when I was younger but I got it mixed up with a Rogue Spear: Covert Ops disc we had.

Pros:
+ Planning Phase
+ Sizable weapon pool
+ Really just the amount of customisation
+ A.I is fairly decent
+ Looks pretty good still
+ FLUID DOORS
+ Getting my ass beat because I forgot how to play

Cons:
- Needs some key rebinding
- Likes to crash sometimes
- Could have sworn there was more operatives
- No reserve guys (There might be because I've only just started playing again. More of a nostalgia thing because dumb child me liked playing Reserve Demolitions Man)
- Getting my ass beat because I've forgotten how to play

Pretty wonderful

I'm not playing anything BECAUSE NOTHING FUCKING WORKS ON LOONIX!
I try ePSXe and the emulator just closes when I try to launch a game.
I try DGEN to play some Jurrasic Park and after
I still can't play it because it crashes when it gets to the SEGA logo. Castlevania Bloodlines actually launches fine, BUT IT CAN'T RECOGNIZE THE START BUTTON ON MY CONTROLLER AND THERE'S NO VISIBLE WAY TO CONFIGURE IT
And Retroarch just freezes on start. Can't even do anything. No error message, nothing.

So I guess I'll be playing Cannon Fodder again…

Tried out pixel privateers because I wanted to get lost in some autism. Spent a large portion of the game playing on an easier difficulty than I should have been but I didn't know how to amp it up till I got done.

Supposedly they're gonna give out free content for this game later. I hope so since it's actually kind of fun. I'd like to try out the multiplayer but I don't think anyone else plays it for the most part. That and I'm mechanically I'm not sure how well it'll work.

I hate this shit but I need to see it all, so I can't stop playing

You don't have to play with a controller, you know, KB&M works just as well. You can even use the mouse but I don't prefer that. Anyways, "right items" for things depends on how deep your knowledge of how to exploit what you have goes, a few key components and you can start breaking the game apart, but what do you mean by "secrets"? Secret characters, secret rooms, items? Secret rooms in particular are not entirely luck, they do follow at least a set of guidelines for how they tend to spawn in a given level.
Here's a funny, you even unlock an item for resetting the game enough times, like a lot of people will to try and get that good starting item room. Just keep at it.

I count everything past the heart as a "secret", considering the rng required to get there. and because you'd never know it existed without a wiki if you're unlucky enough to not discover it before deciding you'd had enough of the game

Hell, I've played maybe 40 combined hours of this game and only made it to the cathedral once
I need to do that shit four more times just to have a chance to get to the chest

Has the dev finished his proposed mechanical overhaul yet? I couldn't be bothered reinstalling my mods so much so I left it until my glorious imperial space roman nukes can be played in peace without needing me to reset every month.

It stopped being shitty after I dedicated 6gb of ram for it.

Nearing the end of a Bayonetta playthrough on the highest difficulty. (which makes Witch Time unusable)

Having a lot of fun with the game once you really get into the combat depth.

Does it have the Mega-Maid?
