Is this your first Paradox grand strategy? That's what happens with every expansion, until you eventually realize that the problems are with the base game, such as the combat, lack of things to do, lack of variety other than modifiers etc.

I'm not even opening ED until fdev reworks jumping so you can use almost all your fuel in one long jump instead of a bunch of tiny jumps that take ages. It takes too long to get anywhere and wheemez is nowhere near a pristine metallic ring.

I don't mind supercruise but this shit of jump, cooldown, press button, charge, jump, repeat 15 times, has no business in a fucking video game.

there are 3 systems within 100ly, which if you have a decent FSD should only take 5 jumps. I hate the loading screen too, but if you can't bother to even cross the bubble, ED will never be a game you can play

you gain nothing, sitting through the loading screen, seeing as how the game has no good content. it certainly isn't good gameplay and I never claimed it was. I wouldn't be against reworking it, but I think Fdev should focus on fixing more important shit first so that there is a good reason to sit through the loading screen in the first place. Fdev changed the numbers on planetary bases after many CMDRs just did boming runs on the places with missiles and mines. Just ramming a skimmer will probably do more damage to you then to it, especially goliaths. You also can't target skimmers in your ship. Honestly skimmers are pretty piss weak so you won't have that much trouble with them in a SRV.

I know you need to have Horizons to get access in the first place everyone should be getting it for free when or before Season 3 starts but with that boost in mind It takes me 5 jumps in my god damn T9 to get to the nearest pristine metallic rings Zeta Octantis(91ly). That shit was ancient, buggy, had some of the shittiest voice acting I've ever heard, bizzare logic in its quests and it always crashed during a certain mission so I could never complete it.
But it was so much fun setting up a good squadron, sniping with missiles, farming killer robots and generally making a mockery of law and order for fun and profit.
I miss that game. Why are there no other games making you control an entire group of fighters in space like that?

I like the Hrimthurs. I know the Smilodon could mount another small gun, but the Hrimthurs just looks better to me and I'm attached to it after missle AoE'ing everything with it.

For mothership I like the Astarte, I got it early on what I would call a "death march" all the way to an isolated arm of the galaxy where I met the precursors, who proceeded to kill me. Huge armor and no blindspot on its turrets.

Gamedev here, had a sort of cool idea for a game. Currently bogged down with a project, though, so someone else might want to take a shot at it.

What I was thinking was a sort of space hunting sim. You take the older hunting sim games like Cabela's, Hunting Unlimited, The Hunter, Carnivores, etc, and you throw in a space setting.

You're a hunter in some sci fi universe who travels to all kinds of alien planets in order to hunt game with futuristic weapons. Different planets would have wildly different alien atmospheres and biomes, and you'd be able to choose your equipment and camouflage for each one. Once you choose the game you want to hunt, you'd be sent down to the planet and left to fend for yourself and stalk your prey. Points would be scored similarly to other hunting games, and some animals would be highly dangerous the same way that bison, rhinos, elephants, etc are IRL.

Soon the robots will rule the earth.
