Despite people rationalizing like total motherfuckers, the game is pretty shallow and has a pretty low skill ceiling. Let me explain what has already been posted again in my own words. First comes the fact that you have endless ammunition. This makes it theoretically possible to win a game by just bombing a area from behind a wall on the other side. The game is also pretty inconsistent with the hit boxes and certain projectile weapons. Skills are also a pain in the neck, because they are basically nothing but Cooldowns you can't manage. This can sometimes turn a match into a game of hide and seek, because you rather hide than going into a huge fight without your skills ready. On top of that comes the very fact that every character counters certain other characters which dumbs down all strategy in the game according to my opinion. Not in a good way for the sake of make people able to specialize in a certain play style like Team Fortress does. In a match of let's say Unreal Tournament, the characters don't vary at all. Everone can use a sludge cannon, A flak, a eightball, a linkgun and what have you. The player could decide to "main" a weapon and switch to whatever he finds appropriate on the fly. The next step to Overwatch would be Team Fortress. You can't change your weapon or collect whatever weapon is on the ground, but Characters don't counter each other, behaviors do. I could elaborate that further, but I think you get the point here. Last not least the very reason I didn't buy it myself: The grinding mechanics. You are playing to fill up a bar to get more gamble boxes.

Still, it's not unlike Bastion. A sentry relocation is a commitement that makes you very vulnerable and gambling your sentry, as well as needing time to upgrading later, unless you want to gamble those upgrades too.
Bastion can relocate with Recon mode easily and get full power when he enters Sentry Mode. It's such a different situation I get the idea you didn't played any of those games.

Bastion has more health than usual and his Recon gun is pretty much a better Soldier 76. Considering he'll be able to heal himself even when taking damage, his fragilty is not gonna be a problem there.
And due to his higher health pool coupled with armor and damage resistance in turret form, it's gonna fix that too for Sentry Mode.

It's more like your hitscan is actually a large cylinder instead and if it touches a teammate, instead of hitting the original target, you'll hit your teammate instead and heal him.
I guess that's why you'll see a difference between where you aim and what you hit, because it's adjusted to reflect just that.

You can go to the options menu and get individual options for several heroes.
Ana in particular has a "sensitivity rating" that you can adjust and even set to 0 that's used to decide when you're aiming at an enemy or a teammate.
Put in a simple matter, it's basically the radius of said cylinder.
Others like Mercy also have something similar but it's related to how close they have to be in your aim before being considered for GA. You can set these all to 0 and get full control over what you hit.

As far as I know it's only Nano Boost that is getting the sensitivity adjustment, not her healing. It's also on PTR and not live yet.

Would be interesting if they did her healing that way, I could see some pros turning it down a little but they would have to limit the maximum to what it is now. As it is it's a balancing feature because if Ana was harder to aim with they would need to compensate with stronger heals, and those are already strong enough.

How important should teamwork really be.
I'm asking this because both games look a bit alike in terms of genre, but they are actually fundamentally different.

In Killing Floor, your class defines what arsenal you'll be using (you can pick anything else but it won't be as good or as cheap) as well as what you'll be generally doing.
A Medic will try to keep people alive, Engineers will keep welding doors and Demolotions will keep bombing shit and laying pipes.

In Overwatch however, your class defines not just your arsenal but what options you bring to the table, especially relating to movement but not only that. They immidiatly impact how the rest of your team will play sometimes more than yourself.
For instance, having a Reinhart allows a team to take on chokepoints much more easily, having Mercy or Lucio instead allows them to use flanking routes instead, Ana removes some of the burden from securing your healers while Zenyatta is best for fast moving heroes that need to be healed constantly.
Even on defense, Hanzo can grant vision to their team, as can Widow, Torb can help survivability and securing areas, etc.

In Overwatch, you'll often end up contributing more for your team than for yourself, which also means that most of the time things go your way, it's because someone else on your team gave you a hand and if they go south, it's because someone on your team did not carry their weight.

Now, I honestly like both situations and it's more up to what you prefer right now. But from a game design perspective, which would be the best way to do it?
On one hand, if teamwork is largely irrelevant, the gameplay can end up stagnating and every game feels kinda the same, but the other option means being reliant on your team to win games, you can't just "carry" them to victory unless the other team is absolutely atrocious.

Interesting points. I think KF's model can lead to better matches with mutes (aside from 'fp asdasada'), while OW's model means communication / cooperation is important, especially in how ults complement each other.

As far as which one gets more boring faster? I find the shared gameplay tends to make me bored faster with KF than with OW.

Also because of the coop-vs-ai and wave-structure of KF, given a decent team on the right difficulty level (given average team level) I find it more likely we win than lose. Overwatch is much more random, which can be more frustrating, but less tedious because of the variety of characters and their play styles.

There are several threads up at any time for many games that have very small playerbases. Those are good games, much better than Overwatch, at least from the opinion of many shitposters in this thread.
I'm talking Xonotic, Arma, Dystopia, Neotokyo, Ace of Spaces, SS13, etc.
Games that were not only very fun, but they allowed for Holla Forums to create a community of their own and have fun together.

However, those threads don't see as many people posting in them as Overwatch and a few other threads (more on that later) does, they don't have the same amount of people interested in them at all, not even in talking about those games, let alone actually play them.

Now, that strikes me as a very severe case of autism and hypocrisy because this thread in particular and a few others are filled with nothing but bitching about how terrible this game or some other topic is and how nobody plays\talks about good games anymore. And these threads, with all their bitching and moaning, manage to get way more posts than the threads about those actually good games.

You know what this looks like? Just as another user said in this very thread, some people like shitposting more than they like videogames. They fester on the drama and the bitching and they'll go to any thread to talk about how something is terrible instead of trying to build a community and improve the games they like.

well i really cant say what the best way to do it is. but it definitely gets really frustrating when some crucial part of your team isnt allowing you to do your own job properly. usually this is more the fault of matchmaking than anything else.

Dude, learn a bit about animation. In that clip she's first smiling, then prepares for the shock and then is shocked. The preparation phase is really slow and looks generic and I've been seeing this exact animation everywhere. It's not how people react to getting shocked and I'm tired of seeing it being used every single time.

Good animators are a liability now because they can usually only animate and that's bad. Just hire the guy that can also program, nobody will notice he's only 1/4 as good.

That's not how quality control goes over on a chan, nobody gets to decide what is good and what is bad. The only thing you can decide is how much you care about a particular topic and that's it.
Threads about topics nobody wants to talk about die and go away, threads about topics everyone wants to talk about stay and are remade constantly.

I once tried Red Eclipse because I saw a thread about it and people were actually discussing the game. It picked my interest, both the thread and the discussion surrounding the game. Same thing for Ace of Spades, Barotrauma and other neat games. If nobody is playing or talking about what you consider good games, nobody will do it for you.

Actually, they fixed them and then reverted the changes "due to unexpected results" or some shit like that, I just don't get it, bullets don't have those huge hitboxes, why should arrows be different in that regard, is not like one expects perfectly accurate projectile sizes but even SWBattlefront had the right size when it came to blasters.

Second, it's for balance. When they nerfed all the projectile sizes they found that projectile-based heroes became far too weak and unreliable. So they reverted the change to all projectiles and then nerfed Hanzo's specifically

For reference, out of all headshot-capable projectiles in the game, Hanzo's are the smallest. Mercy and DVa's are the largest.

Most other games don't have projectiles and hitscan competing for the same roles. In Quake for instance the only projectile weapons are explosives, and they are also quite huge. I doubt Battlefront even has hitscan at all.
