Don't forget to support their games! Except Ys 8's localization by NISA
Ys 8 will be the first Falcom game localization I pirate since Bamco's gagharv localizations
Thomas Scott
Are they as bad as the rumors say? Have any examples?
Asher Phillips
I literally just got into the Ys a month ago.
Austin Miller
Requiesce in pieces. I was just about to beat Ys II on Nightmare and then move to Oath in Fergana, and another company is kill. Can we do anything about this besides boycotting?
Bentley Stewart
the psp versions were already worse than the original games gameplay wise, bamco decided to sprinkle a god awful machine translation on top.
Xavier Brooks
For shame, user.
Nathan Brown
Not really. Don't buy it, convince others not to, contact Falcom to complain(in Japanese, they likely won't care about e-mails in English), and hope that poor revenue on it cause NISA to abandon it so XSeed can grab it back.
John Howard
Why couldn't NISA have ruined one of their parent company's games instead of shitting on XSEED's plate?
Ah well, at least I already played Ys VIII and started learning moonrunes almost 2 years ago.
Jacob Edwards
I'm having flashbacks.
Brandon Cook
The worst part about NISA "localizing" Ys VIII, is I can't recommend it to EOP friends anymore. Which is a damn shame, because it was my GOTY 2016.
William Reed
I was going to, but decided against it. Something about starting the thread like that didn't appeal to me. Maybe it's because I don't feel the heartbreak, since I only just started playing Ys 1. I feel sorry for everyone, though.
Nicholas Robinson
Josep I know you're in here, you fag.
Connor Garcia
What?
XSEED spent years building up Ys in the US and now they get to watch NISA reap the harvest?
This is the literally being cucked. Not to mention that NISA is fuck it up undoubtedly. I suppose I'm not buying it anymore.
Jeremiah James
Yup, this is how Falcom thanks xseed for giving them brand recognition in the west.
Hudson Williams
For some reason this picture came to mind right away when I heard. XSEED is one of the few good localizers (Rockin' Android is okay I guess, I've played some of their stuff) in business, and it's really disappointing to hear about them being treated this way.
Parker Mitchell
So is NISA going to brick my Vita now too?
Aiden Hill
They aren't happy about it at all. No one is. I'll be importing the fucker. I will not be giving NISA any money. Guess the only good thing to come of this is that we can continue to spread awareness of shit localizations by shit companies. But not like this. Not my Falcom.
Connor Morris
it's OGRE
Kayden Murphy
Reminder if you buy this you're literally a souless monster with shit taste, because NISA is incapable of translating without (((localizing))).
Luke Reed
When this morning I've read that Ys VIII was getting a PC release I was fucking happy, then I've read that it was published and translated by NISA… fucking Christ. I'm just going to pirate it, and it pisses me off immensely. Hope that XSEED will get to publish something good later in the year.
Liam Diaz
Well, my id sure as fuck is accurate of how I feel inside now.
Hudson Hill
Now we know how liberals feel after trump won. I'm literally shaking right now.
Thomas James
It's probably safe to assume the worst case scenario: Trails is doomed.
If XSEED couldn't hold on to Ys, I don't see them having much chance with any other Falcom games.
Levi Cook
Cold Steel III is next, and you know it.
Easton Bailey
I know, this shit put me into an autistic depression. I fucking went outside to cool off. I just sat in a snowbank and started drinking for 2 hours after the announcement.
Henry Rogers
If it's on PC at least I can pirate it. Although I won't like it when altina starts using dank memes.
Owen Ramirez
You are willing to have the game and potentially more Falcom properties butchered just so you can pirate it?
Aaron Wilson
If falcom betrays me by going with nisa, i'm not going to cave in and buy it, that'll just tell them that they made the right decision and continue to use them. It's a screwed if you do, screwed if you don't situation.
Zachary Rogers
If you hate NISA releasing the game I strongly dislike it why not doing something like complaining to Falcom or at least complain to NISA that they mustn't fuck it up?
Wow, I had no idea people would be this devestated about Ys.
What on Earth makes you say that? Ys is one thing, but XSeed are the only localizers masochistic enough to touch Trails and it's massive fucking scripts.
David Scott
This can't be fucking real
Eli Nguyen
I have absolutely no intention of giving my money to NISA.
Lucas Lewis
I've seen nothing but despair. Seems if you're deep enough to play Falcom games, you know to avoid NISA
Evan Wood
If you're not devastated by this news, you never really liked the series in the first place.
Christian Bailey
As much as these posts reek of PR, Tom seems to imply that Kiseki games are safe for now.
Jack Lewis
I wouldn't abandon all hope just yet. Remember that Nisa had the whole Play, Doujin! catalogue to choose from (I think) and went with the two lowest hanging fruits, Gensuo no Rondo and Fushigi no Gensoukyou, instead of tackling the far more ambitious (and far less shit) Genius of Sappheiros. They might just deem it not profitable enough.
Still, what a disheartening turn of events. I come here like once per month to check on this thread; while it's probably not the worst turn of events regarding Ys 8 as a whole, it can hardly get worse localisation-wise.
Grayson Ward
oh boy its ogre, anyway there is no way in hell i will ever buy anything from NISA.
Ayden Long
Wanna know ana ddition fun fact?
Kondo himself said that the future of the Ys series depends on how Lacrimosa will perform outside Japan.
Isaiah Bell
Fuck
Nolan Torres
Gonna need a source on that one user
Blake Howard
Check esterior.net or its twitter account. I think it was said there, since it translated a few questions from the shareholders meeting.
Camden Price
Fresh from the ovens
Jacob Nguyen
I rather the games never get localized again than have NISA touch them.
Zachary Lopez
I can say with certainty if a company wanted to they'd cut the script hard to make sure they don't spend too much time on it. You know all the NPCs with side stories? Gone completely and will only have one line of dialogue through the whole game.
Grayson Perez
I wonder how falcom would react if people did that burn their products stuff, that otaku do when they get pissed off.
Brody Reed
I mean, going to that extreme is really fucking dumb.
Angel Howard
Trying my best to teach the people in floofy's extralife stream to not just blindly buy into Ys 8's "localization" is very difficult. Enjoy is a stretch of a word when coming from NISA. At varying degrees of quality, of course. I want quality and not quantity. I can wait longer if need be, I'm not a total slut who needs it all at once. Madness, I tell you.
Ethan Wright
FUCK FUCK FUCK why
Nathan Hernandez
What's something I can tweet to Falcom in japanese. I don't know nip but I want to tell them that NISA is shit and that the American fanbase of the Ys games fucking hate NISA.
Josiah Rodriguez
That would require us to people to either A) buy it(stupid) or B) raid stores and then take pictures of it, which sounds idiotic and possibly self-incriminating. This doesn't go into the fact of how that sort of thing is completely insane.
Did you remember to show them what NISA has done to other games they've localized?
Lincoln Perez
私はちんぽを吸うが大好き。
Tyler Perez
He's talking about Japanese fans burning and smashing brand memorabilia they already own. Figures, posters, books, DVDs, etc. Too bad all my Falcom stuff is digital.
Cameron Cruz
What does that say?
Jaxon Richardson
I love to suck dick.
Thomas Rivera
Very funny.
Jackson Parker
Oh, I misread as him suggesting we try that to see how they react. But yeah, I know how the Japs do, crazy, the whole lot of them.
Austin Carter
But seriously though, How do I let them know?
Xavier Robinson
It's already too late for Ys VIII.
That being said, Falcom has English speaking folks on staff. You should probably be fine pinging them in English. They even accept international orders through their online store, with English support.
Jason Jenkins
That's good information. Maybe I'll order it from there with a note saying I'm playing in a language I can't understand because it's preferable to the hack job NISA will inevitably churn out.
Ayden Wright
We discussed this last thread. A PC release can NOT save you from NISA because they fuck up art assets during localization so bad that it's not always possible to mod the original back in. See: Criminal Girls, Ar Tonelico 2.
Justin Turner
Just to play Devil's advocate here, there's Japanese text support listed for the PC release. He's probably safe on that front.
I stand by my thoughts that the PC version is the whole silver lining, here. NISA have been decent at worst with their PC ports so far.
Aaron Torres
Honestly, I think this is the best way to go. That way you prove "tangible" interest in their product while also making them aware of the situation. I'll likely do the same; thanks for bringing this point up.
Samuel Cook
Also, I'd like to mention that most of Ys VIII's UI is already in English.
Christian Brown
Wrew finally we'll get new Falcom releases on PC. Xseed didn't port anything, what clowns.
Jason Perez
The Japanese text is indeed going to be a life saver for those who want to play the actual game instead of NISA's version, but if they alter art assets, like that one girl's sexy outfit, then that's something that's unlikely to ever get uncensored.
Sebastian Clark
It's worth noting that the only games that NISA have overtly censored have been NIS properties. They've had text shenanigans, of course, but I'm personally not worried about them censoring Ys.
Brandon Rodriguez
Also, I don't know why but I feel like dumping some Ys VIII screenshots about now.
Ayden Mitchell
...
Grayson Diaz
...
Thomas Peterson
Tryin but they're just wavin it off.
William Sanders
Where were you when Ys got BLACKED?
Pretty sad I understand that Falcom is a company who makes games for money but Nisa. Hope Kiseki is safe.
I won't let them violate Renne and Tita.
Logan Gomez
A very good point, many localisers already do this. Treehouse is the most infamous one. And if you complain you're just a loser weeb who needs to learn Japanese.
At the end of the day normalfags outnumber us a thousand to one.
Sons of bitches KNOW I want that more than anything else! Dammit!
Joshua Stewart
b-but muh statue is, like 100 dollarydoos. I seriously would just for the BLADE deck tho. That is if I weren't a shameless whore.
Joseph Gutierrez
I feel really down about this whole thing.
On the one hand, i'd rather burn my own money than give even a cent to nisa.
But on the other, with what said, I feel I need to support this series if I want it to continue.
I said in the previous thread this timeline ain't too bad, and I still stand by that, but fuck me if it still doesn't contain its own fair share of kicks to the dick.
I'll probably be a massive faggot anyway and buy it, but only begrudgingly.
Luis Cox
Isn't this what you guys always wanted?
Liam Miller
If you just can't restrain yourself go for a preowned copy. I would really advise waiting a month after release and watch if anything happened to the game before declaring your purchase so soon.
Kayden Evans
I feel ya, but the future of Ys, and other Falcom games for that matter, probably depends on this game's success in the west.
On the flip side, if nothing else, nisa seems to have a larger reach than xseed, so maybe I won't have to worry about that.
Elijah Gray
No, actually we just wanted more. More. No one wanted this.
No one. No one wanted any of this.
Blake Sanders
Yep, there are plenty of dipshits out there who don't know how bad NISA is and will buy out of ignorance. You personally shouldn't subject yourself to their hackjob while also paying them.
Oliver Hughes
Hey guys what if NISA got the rights for the best ys game instead of XSEED haha it would be funny right
Gabriel Flores
why did someone make a new thread
Owen Richardson
'Cause I must have missed the link. I deleted it.
Joseph Cruz
Trying to nab my prize?
David Bailey
Why does Adol look like a total fucboi now, and not a seasoned grizzled veteran adventurer?
Levi Morales
Why does Adol have to be some sort of extremely badass motherfucker outside of one's taste?
Since the very beginning Adol is supposed to be a kind and nice guy with a never-ending lust for adventure. Anything more than that it's just the game adding its own flavour.
Adrian Thompson
Ys Seven is currently the latest title chronologically.
Gavin Barnes
8 takes place 2 years before 7.
Matthew Howard
Y tho
Isaac Wood
There were three years between 5 and 6 so it's filling in the gap.
Jeremiah Gonzalez
Ask other Japanese companies why they do that. My theory is that sometimes, they don't expect a game or series to be as popular as it gets, so when they want to move forward, they have to do something that helps fill in plot holes, so we end up getting interquels. the only issue is that we end up seeing the main characters end up with better stuff than what they had in older installments. In Ys' case, they tend to make remakes of older games which end up being more advanced than recent installments (for the most part).
Kayden Clark
Estelle has Cassius Bright for a father, an uncanny magnetism and understanding of other people, and is possibly a Demi-Goddess.
Rean has prodigal blade skills, a dark power that that pushes him beyond his normal physical limits, and a mecha.
Lloyd has a dead brother.
What else does Lloyd have?
Gabriel Miller
Well, his harem powers are on a similar level to Rean's, though I still think Rean has the edge there.
John Taylor
Okay, i can understand why people like YS or Xanadu, they have action to make up with terribly generic setting, but why the fuck you are into Legend of Heroes and Trails series? Those games are boring as fuck.
Nathaniel Hughes
The writing. The combat is pretty great for a TBJRPG. Admittedly they can be slow to get going, but it's to really build up the world, which is great and really feels like a living evolving world thanks to an abundance of detail and NPC dialogue, and make you care about it before shit hits the fan. And when it picks up, it's great especially thanks to the base set. I know I too hate the "Oh yeah it gets good like 12 hours in", but I feel like what comes before is comfy, not that big of a slog.
Charles Gutierrez
Trails is on no one's schedule but its own. It's true, people with short attention spans will be turned off, but those people who like world building and pure lore and continuity porn, Trails has no equal in video games. Most of us have no problem when the game takes things slow because we find the whole world interesting. When you look forward to seeing what even non-critical NPCs will be doing next chapter it's a safe bet the game isn't going to bore you. And the fact that we get this invested means that when shit does go down, it's 1000x more effective in another game when it hits the fan. The games are deliberately paced, but you have to be willing to go at that pace.
Nathan Robinson
I can ask the same. I can assume you like neptunia, but your picture may just be coincidental. Trails nails it in making you give two shits about the world you are in and not just the main party. You care what happens to Liberl at the end of SC because you've been helping people out for upwards of 100 hours across both games. I found myself caring about who got elected in Ruan after the incident. I found myself caring if Bose was going to be annihilated by the dragon. I cared about what happened in Zeiss. Coldsteel I found myself caring about Trista since that was effectively my home for hours. I was infuriated by the events that led to the incident in Celdic and the incident itself. If a game can illicit these strong feelings, I can proudly say that the game wormed it's way into my heart.
Aiden King
I love how Falcom wasn't afraid to give the protag's of Sky and Zero/Azure something that wasn't a basic bitch sword. Don't get me wrong, it fits Rean as a character, but I'd like to see more less common weapons being used. Yunica using an Axe made my dick diamonds when playing Origins and Adol is from a time in which swords were the staple, I can imagine what would happen if they gave the next protag a pair of Katars or, hell, Chakram.
Xavier Fisher
My biggest problem is how everyone dresses in Ys 8, I get there was a change in character designers, but still So Falcom is trying to tell me that everyone wore standard 90's fantasy garbs and armors in all Ys games leading up to V with the exception of MoC, only for everyone to dress like modern JRPG characters in 8, and then to go back to being dressed like regular fantasy characters in 6 and Seven? Shit's confusing.
Caleb Fisher
I may have been mistaken, but I thought Dana's piercing form used katars.
Camden Moore
Haven't played Ys 8 so I wouldn't know. Thanks to NISA, I might never find out.
Connor Richardson
I also thought her Style Change was PS4 version only, meaning no one has. It was previews I was looking at. I thought she was using Katars, but it might have been dual daggers.
Chase Morgan
-Sean Chiplock
Jose Martinez
He also said that the Orbal Bike was best waifu, because it didn't require any liking before it let you ride it.
Evan Garcia
First girl rule, every time.
Jose Lewis
Sean seems like a cool guy. He knows Alisa is shit which makes him cool in my books.
Daniel Stewart
Just dont read his twitter if you want to keep that feeling, fam.
Brody Lee
More like best slut, since it lets you double team with with whoever you like.
That shit pisses me off so fucking much you wouldn't believe. Sadly the only example I can think of is some sports/romance anime called Suzuka I watched years ago, probably just because it pissed me off that much.
Even his AMA shows him as kind of a mixed bag. Doesn't mean you can't appreciate his points.
Robert Brooks
I saw Sean say his favorite was Millium because she reminded him of his fiancee. smh
Aaron Sullivan
Oh my.
Isaiah Wood
A reminder there's now weeb vidya to talk jap games without normlafags >>>/wv/
Nicholas King
Jesus Christ. Thank fuck fore Emma and Fie's evasion
Logan Peterson
I think this is the best approach.
Within a week, people will know how shat on Ys VIII is.
After that, if they did well (all of my fingers are fucking crossed. All my toes. I'm crossing my dick and my balls too), then you can pick it up. Otherwise just pick it up pre-owned or get it from a Steam sale if you still want to support.
If it's really bad, gotta pirate.
You cocky fucker.
Joshua Wilson
I still get flashbacks.
First phase killed me 7 times, second phase 13. I fully admit to fouling through the game and having no idea what the fuck I was doing. I'm much better now though.
Adrian Hughes
I really regretted neglecting some of my party when that fight came. I had focused pretty much entirely on Laura, Fie, Emma and Sara before that point, so everyone else was under-leveled and had shitty quartz set ups. I clutched it somehow.
Joseph Perez
Waiting a week seems fair enough, though we'll probably have enough evidence before it's even officially released.
By the way, anyone tried contacting Falcom about this? If nothing else, it's possible we could get them to hold nisa's feet to the fire for their localisation.
Eli Jackson
A real American hero should just go set fire to their offices. Falcom demands sacrifice, and burning NISA to ashes is the best option.
Josiah Sanders
Same issue. My last save was over an hour later and I HATE when I lose that degree of progress. Though I do appreciate what they were going for. I always dislike when big bosses show up and everyone in the party rushes in and then half of them disappear for the fight. But due to the amount of customization and the way Arts work, it's fucking expensive and needlessly time consuming to try to keep everyone up to snuff all the time.
That's a situation where the outcome is too unpredictable to be worth it. It doesn't mean XSeed would get loc rights back, they could give it to 8-4, or another company. Not to mention that XSeed could refuse to localize on principle if they believed that doing would be giving the person who burned NISA what they want. They're upset, but their conscience probably wouldn't tolerate it. There's other things, and I know you're being facetious, but you never know what kind of madman browses imageboards.
One user sent a tweet in mildly mangled Jap. Another user said English could be fine for e-mail, considering their interest in bringing the game westward. Hearing that their choice of localizer is questionable from enough people could raise some flags. Just be sure to send evidence along with it. Easy to read evidence.
Some have said the future of YS could depend on how 8 does in the West. Surely they don't mean the series as a whole, right? From what I hear, YS is very popular in Japan.>I had focused pretty much entirely on Laura, Fie, Emma and Sara before that point, so everyone else was under-leveled and had shitty quartz set ups.
Nathaniel Phillips
...
Jack Bell
How difficult is ys 8 to navigate with no rune knowledge? I can't seem to find an english guide anywhere.
Lucas Cooper
Brown Dana looks so good
This is a game you really want to know what's going on.
Anthony Morales
But there IS a chance that they will, and no matter how small that chance may be, it's far better to have that chance than to have NISA. Would anyone outside of here even realize the motive? One little seemingly random act of arson that burns a few weebs is hardly front page material. And the best part is, that NISA will never touch any game ever again. I know you want to, user.
Daniel Price
Uhm Millium is what, 12-13? Where is it legal to hit that? For research.
Nathan Edwards
Burch voiced Millium
I like her personality but she's nowhere near waifuable range. Burch brought her down even further.
Alisa is the worst romance, but I think Millium is the worst girl.
Nathaniel Allen
Am I the only one who doesn't give a shit about the people behind the games? To this day I have no idea what the CFO of Falcom's stance is on comfort women in Korea during WW2 and I don't want to know. People always disappoint: the less you know about them the better.
Robert Gutierrez
There's nothing wrong with not caring. I just posted it to show that he and a good deal of others have something in common that I find funny. I would've posted his opinion on the VA industry, but that's not related to the thread.
Apparently some areas of Japan have an age of consent as low as 12-13, but apparently there's more to it than that.
I hated Millium at first, but grew to like her in CS II, which is something that occurred with a lot of characters(the growing to like them more in CS II part and not the initial hate, exactly). I think Burch is fine in this. Her usual problem is a wooden performance(Rise) or cunty and displeasing to the ears(Cassandra Cage), and her performance as Millium is neither of those. Depending on your opinion of her pitched up voice, which in my opinion is her best shown with Millium and Rei.
Connor Young
I do like all the girls in CS, it's just that I think characters like Millium are at the bottom.
Though I personally don't like Burch as a person and hearing her voice grates on me.
Elijah Kelly
...
Jaxson Taylor
Hmm. That's usually something I might do on the second playthrough, where I'll just plug in my headphones to the PC instead of the console.
Luis Morgan
My thing with her doing child voices is that you can have a child and not have it sound like theyre ramming a pipe into your ear which that is her every child role. I just dont think she is a good VA at all and brings down the people around her
Ryder Bennett
missing out, tbh
Logan Green
Then you would be missing out on the games ost.
Dominic Edwards
I don't make the charts. Would you like to make a chart?
Anthony Gutierrez
The X68000 always got the best ports of games. Hell, there are X68000 arcade ports that are better than the arcade versions. For example, the port of Bosconian has a soundtrack with a few tracks composed by Yuzo Koshiro.
Parker Wilson
I'm considering just saying fuck it and ordering the jap version of Ys VIII and playing through the game with a translation app. It will probably be more accurate than the actual localization that way
Alexander Taylor
I already heard it on my first playthrough. And I'll usually have the ost on my PC.
Kayden Cooper
No it's fine everyone has their hobbies, I see a lot of it in anime: this personality cult about voice actors and directors and what not. I guess I'm just too autistic to relate/care.
Carson Price
Don't get it from Play-Asia. They're charging $75 after that promotion going around, and you can get it cheaper AND faster from Amazon.co.jp.
John Green
I just checked, and amazon has it for around 6200 yen (~$55) after shipping, and their shipping is equivalent to EMS.
Don't get it from Play-Asia.
Luis Robinson
...
Anthony Bell
No. For 90% of the time the dialog is fine, if a bit awkward. It's just that the other 10% can range from having really bad grammar to the text spilling out of the text boxes, but even then it's always easy to understand what's going on. For officially released games from the mid 2000s they're unacceptable, but if you've spent a good amount time with fan translated games, you've probably played much worse. Here's a video of the section of LoH III where the translation is the most noticeably bad(or at least that's how it seemed to me. Maybe I just got used to it later in the game), to give you an idea of whether or not you can handle it.
Ayden Sullivan
This is more like a Visual Novel with gameplay attached to it. And since I am not an employee of IGN, that is not a bad thing.
Lucas Nguyen
The Trails series has more dialogue then basically any RPG series ever, by about threefold.
Owen Robinson
The music is pretty much ruined, the gameplay is worse, the visual are sad compared to what falcom was running at the time, and the translation sucks. They basically made the same game but you couldn't have fun playing it.
Looking back at the time it would have been a good idea to get Hudson to port it since they did a great job porting Falcom games for the PCE and I don't think they were bought by Konami yet.
Henry Stewart
Trails is very, VERY dialogue heavy. To the point where almost every NPC has a story that develops as the game goes on. There is a lot of dialogue explaining the world, each NPC has their own plotline/dilemma, etc
Nicholas Cruz
I decided to pirate the jap vita version, don't worry.
Ethan Bell
Federal AoC is 13 but the actual lowest AoC is 16 because prefectures set their own AoC, i'm not too sure why the government one is so low, I think it's just so if a prefecture wanted to that could theoretically go as low as 13.
Hunter Ward
Alright then, if you just want to play it that's fine. I hope you enjoy it, user.
Nathaniel Ross
...
Ryan Reed
Don't forget YS 8 importers you need to share that CS3 art book.
Josiah Thomas
Please no
I already got a knife in the heart from the announcement, don't twist it.
It'd be too fat. Your PS4 wouldn't be able to process the amount of ass she has.
Jaxson Green
I will gladly sacrifice my PS4 to see it.
Nathan Hill
...
Angel Murphy
What is he, gay?
Adrian Ward
Off topic, but have any anons here played it? Is it any good? Is it Dangan-type crazy, or does it play itself more seriously? Or is it something else entirely?
Logan Adams
If you like watching school kids being brutally dismembered and pulverized into hamburger and/or going insane, sure.
Levi Reed
He does. There's even dialogue about it in the game.
Andrew Watson
Lloyd isn't known as the best pussyslayer in Trails for being gay, user. Also this
Tyler Edwards
What? Then party order matters to trigger it?
Christian Rogers
I don't think it matters. Then again, I was mostly running around with Rixia as leader, though I don't think that's how Vent Active Voice works.
Sebastian Edwards
So I've played Oath in Felghana and now I'm playing through Memories of Celceta and wanted more games like those. I was thinking maybe the Xanadu games how similar are they to those 2 Ys games? I also eventually wanna go through and just play all the other Ys games and was wondering what is the best way to play YS I&II.
Luis Gray
It doesn't matter, it only happens when you enter a certain vent. Lloyd is about to tell her then decides to keep it to himself.
Brandon Taylor
Why the fuck is NISA still in business? Every time they "localized" any game they touch it, for most of the time, bombs. Can someone please explain this bullshit?
Zachary Bell
NISA is a jewish invention designed to make sure any games that might succeed without a jew corporation backing them that will jew the content for them will instead fail.
Jonathan Rogers
NISA is the american arm of NISJ so they can just ask for a giant inflated budget when they put out NISJ's games to cover their losses. They also buyout a bunch of distribution rights for other people's games. Like NISA distributes all of Atlus' stuff in Europe now or they did until recently I can't remember.
Jace Jones
I know P5 is being distibuted by Deep Silver, and I think Cold Steel has NISA distribute it anywhere that isn't NA. I vaguely remember an user seeing it on PSN and posting it many threads ago.
Sounds more like guro than fun. No thanks.
Christopher Collins
But NISA has a track record of releasing games with game-breaking bugs that weren't in the Japanese versions. Why are companies still risking the western versions of their games being rendered unplayable? Are they cheaper than other localizers or something?
Joshua Williams
...
Connor Jones
From what I've seen, NISA can apparently get away with doing it cheaper than others and guarantee being able to do it faster. I also don't think most Jap companies care about the West as more than a periphery demographic or at the very most, a second chance in case the game bombs in Japan for whatever reason, similar to American movies and Chinese audiences. Apparently the West is what gave Bayonetta a sequel, but that's hearsay.
Christopher Thompson
Yeah that sounds right I think Atlus dumped NISA and are now having Deep Silver distribute all their European stuff because NISA was incompetent and kept taking at least a year from the NA release to get games out in Europe. I can see NISA putting out XSEEDS stuff in Europe as well in fact just today I was shopping for a physical release of Celceta and the european one had NISA's name on it.
I honestly don't think most japanese companies actually care about the quality of the work or even take into account that a localization can effect sales. I mean think about it most of the time when a game does poorly in the West they just stop localizing it completely how often do they switch? At least since NISA got YSVIII because they undercut XSEED I doubt they'll have the budget to censor any assets. It also might result in less editorial on the script unfortunately it will increase the chances of game or machine breaking bugs.
That huge ass CS3 party choice by the end of the game doesn't feel as far-fetched as it used to.
William Reyes
She's from Ruan and dropped out of Jenis to become a Bracer. I'm not sure where she would've learned it from. 8L1B is still a young school and it's practitioners are treated as rare finds.
David Perry
Y'know, if you think about it, Joshua was the harem protagonist of Sky, and we just ended up playing the route of the red-headed twintailed childhood friend/not blood related sibling from her perspective.
Jack Williams
He made panties wet but he was always going to be faithful to Estelle.
Jackson Evans
She is self-taught, from what I hear. Her style is unique. That said, she is hinted to have have a bit of past we don't know about yet.
Yep, those other two Stahlritter Knights and Duvalie are in Ao as well. You fight them before you fight Arianrhod.
Randy flirts with Duavlie and it throws her off her speech.
Nathan Brooks
Of course he was, Estelle was best girl and the canon girl the writers wanted you to get with, since she had the most scenes. Plus like I said, Joshua is playing her route.
Do they have names? Their lack of visible eyes cause me to doubt.
Asher Young
Ennea and Ines. From what I understand they have far less…personality than Duvalie does.

Although I wouldn't care if she wasn't waifuable. Just give me Claire, Laura, Sara, Fie and Emma and I'll be fine
Charles Green
Also looking forward to see if any of those new girls are waifuable, like this one, especially.
Austin Campbell
Unless Arianrhod leaves the society, or Rean joins Ouroboros, and possibly the Stahlritter, that can't happen without breaking Duvalie's devotion to her lady. Or maybe Arianrhod could kick her out or order her to join them for whatever reason.
The reward is AP and being able to talk to Margarita early.

Wasn't there supposed to be a CSIII story in Dengeki Playstation this week? Where could I find the scans of that?
Samuel Howard
According to the moderate but of googling I did, not a thing has bed. Uploaded about it if there were. It's 633 or something right? Apparently they're re-releasing Danganronpa as 1.2 with 1, 2, and ADG, apparently.
Andrew Nelson
This is why I got that info from, fyi.
Ryder Bailey
I'm not seeing anything from beyond Dec. 20th, but I can't read this shit. So either it hasn't been uploaded yet, or there isn't any. I searched "閃の軌跡3 電撃", for reference.
Andrew Gray
Well the kanji for it is definitely in that blurb, but I'm not seeing anything either, and people are usually pretty prompt with that shit, so it's likely there was nothing. Sad.
Angel Powell
Anyone have that image everything NISA fucked up?
Jack Lee
That it is, perhaps it's a preview for the next issue. TL;DR Ouroboros is planning a revival, The Grandmaster is likely not Cassius, and Osbourne possibly has the Time Sept-Terrion and used it to revive himself.
And since now's as good a time as any to talk about it, so far we've had the Gospel Plan, The Phantasmal Blaze Plan, and we know that these are merely steps toward the Orpheus Final Plan. Unless they intend to take the word Orpheus and change its meaning, this overall plan is intended to be a ressurection of some kind. CS II spent some time setting up Ressurection related plots, with Osbourne and whether or not he was, Zephyr trying to redirect their Boss, and, in my opinion, I feel they're setting up to revive Crow in some manner, even if only temporarily. I need to wait for the 3rd to be sure I fully understand the Gospel Plan, and from what I've gathered, the Phantasmal Blaze hasn't been fully explained yet, so we need to wait for CS III.
The question is what would Ouroboros be trying to ressurect. Some of the members seem to have backstories that would display a desire for ressurecting someone(Walter and his Master, Luciola and Mr. Harvey, Loewe and Karin), but I don't think that's quite it. It could be Aidios. This seems to conflict with the theory that Aidios is the Grandmaster, but we have no idea what exactly the Grandmaster is or looks like, so it is possible that they live a partial existence, and are seeking to become whole again.
If I didn't know better, I'd think it was all just Cassius trying to bring his wife back, but that would just be insane. Also, if Osbourne did ressurect himselfi assume he did it with the Time Sept-Terrion.
William Ramirez
Someone with the magazine just confirmed there's no Sen 3 in it. So I have no idea what that ad was about. Maybe just a mistake.

What was the final word on the first image? "Still Rean?"
Because for some reason, now I start to think of it as Rean going turncoat, and trading his Ironblood colors for a Crow theme. That he's going to revive the ILF with Class VII.
Jason Diaz
Whoever that character is has an orbal gun, so I don't think it's Rean.
Levi Cooper
I think we found out that the back of the coat was different, so it's not Rean.
Alexander Reed
Definitely not Rean, so I was right.
What makes you think it's an Orbal gun?

Xanadu is a slower, more diablo-like approach. I've only played Next, but Next was really good regardless and I'd recommend it. Origin is a lot like Felghana but with three different characters all with various bosses, playstyles and upgrades. It's really, REALLY damn good. Ark of Nephatism is on the other side of Felghana, which is to say it's the predecessor and in my opinion not as good, but still worth a playthrough. For Ys I & II I suggest either Chronicles or Books(the PCengine ports) but they aren't the OiF combat system.
By the way, how's Celceta?
Asher Parker
It plays like a slower 7. Too much plot.
Jose Brown
I haven't played 7 either

Yeah it was me, I was contemplating about buying it digitally with a big discount and giving money to nisa or not getting it at all/importing. In the end I've got Tits SC.
Isaiah Carter
It'll probably be like how Zephyr is resurrecting their boss, or how Osborne survived
Nathaniel Nelson
It's already confirmed that Erebonia has two Sept-Terrions. We know one controls the system that runs the Divine Knights (with Witches and Gnomes and all that) and the other is probably tied with resurrection. Makes you wonder how many people might get brought back. The prospect of resurrection has been in play since The 3rd. It's one of the reasons they hit Weissman with the Pillar of Salt. They didn't want to take any chances of him coming back.
Alexander Hughes
NISA can't do their "localization" shit forever. There has to be a point where both NISA & NISJ are at the verge of bankruptcy because NISA fucks up too much with their shitty "localization" and NISJ can't give them anymore money because of said verge of bankruptcy.
Levi Stewart
For a moment I swear I thought I was in the wrong thread. This shit is no Falcom.
Kevin Martin
Got "The Ashen Chevalier" today. Doubt I'll try going for the first CS's platinum trophy, since my PSNow is starting to wind down, and I'm not sure how much else I want to play on it.
So, anyone have substantial thoughts on the latest release of Ys: Origin, and whether or not I should get it again?
Ryan Hernandez
I liked how Osbourne survived. It drove home that no matter how hard Crow tries he'll never beat Osbourne. I was hoping that instead of using resurrection, they'd do the sane thing and give him some kind of bulletproof jacket. Considering he knew the risks of going out in public and everything. It shouldn't have mattered if, prior, he believed that C and the rest were dead there was still a massive movement going on that could not have been easily taken care of. Precautions still should have been taken, imo. The outcome for 2 would be the same with Rean taking on that revenge for Crow while being locked in with Osbourne, but now that there's the prospect of Crow coming back, it's sucking a lot of enjoyment out of the story for me. but we'll see how this all pans out.
Robert Torres
So I watched a few gameplay videos of that Tokyo Xanadu game that's coming out this year. Am I the only one who thinks it looks like it plays like the .hack series?
William Jackson
Maybe he already knew how to resurrect, that WAS his bulletproof jacket. He probably already had it all planned out. Down to Jade Rook
Ethan Baker
15 hours left to buy the games on GOG
Adam Rivera
What the other user said, maybe there was a reason he wanted or needed to be ressurected, and a public execution helped his plans along. We can only speculate, since we're not even sure if he ressurected at all. Hell, we don't even know if anyone WILL be ressurected. It's still only hypothetical, though the creation of the Salt Bolt does imply possibility, it could also just be a pre-caution. Crow could just be a ghost that haunts Rean worse than V's death did. Zephyr are only looking for a way, they haven't found one. I could see a theme of "letting go" arise from this.
Xavier Murphy
NIS used to make good(ish) games that were then anally devastated in localization by the US subsidary of NIS, NISA. Then they apparently tried to pull some fuckery with overwork/firing and rehiring their vet devs at reduced cost and denying them a pay increase they were supposed to get (rumors from 2ch that appeared to be substantiated when the entire Disgaea team left NIS). Those people jumped ship to IF/CH and NIS lost the people who actually made the decent NIS games. I can only assume NIS, in a fit of rage, dumped a bunch of money into NISA to fuck up as many localizations as possible assuming they could do so and come out ahead due to the growing crowd that has recently grown to retard strength proportions. Sadly not really NIS didn't realize that this crowd, while significantly larger than actual fans (read as "people who actually buy video games"), doesn't actually buy games after they require they be censored to shit in "localization". The remaining issue, one that is most likely keeping NISA, and by extention NIS alive, is that a lot of Nip companies release their physical collector's editions through NISA in the west because most of them don't give a shit about markets outside of Japan and they see that as free money because the people who do buy collectors editions tend to not want to "miss out" just to make a statement. Falcom is probably partnering with NISA because they presumably got a deal that offered several times the speed a smaller company like XSEED could reliably pump out due to the staff size and projects they already have. Falcom doesn't give a shit because they don't care what Non-Japanese markets want or think, they only see If and when the game fails they will just blame it on "The West" not wanting the series and stop licensing them for release in English again for a few years and then get bitchy when people have to "pirate" their games to play them and the cycle repeats because, again, Nips don't care about Non-Nips.
sage for massive OT text wall
Eli Richardson
The amount of vapid cunts I saw that said "I don't care of the localization is bad, once we get dual audio"
I would take HORRID English voice acting and superb localization with zero censorship over the opposite any day.
Alexander Collins
Realistically a lot of localization companies hire the shittiest ("cheapest") VAs they can find because they want to pretend people want the game in English with voice work rather than wanting a game with accurately translated Nipspeak. By hiring horrid VAs on the cheap they save money and pretend a lot more effort went into the game than actually did. They can claim they didn't get the license for the Nip voices but I'd rather have no voices and actual effort put into text than have to deal with the same tired forty year old smoker voice play a little girl for the three thousandth time. The Anime industry has the same problem, they tend to hire people that put literally no effort into their work, don't fit the fucking character at all, and/or do the same fucking voice over and over before cutting the content in stupid ways. Then they wonder why they don't sell anything or people dislike their "work" after they've cut it to pieces and changed the actual intent of the line thirty times.
Henry Hernandez
Secondary contractors can NOT operate Divine Knights, but can board them with the Awakener.
Cooper Smith
New extremely blurry image from a magazine. No idea what the magazine actually says. I'm getting…concerned about the number of new characters we're seeing, though.
Austin Rodriguez
Damn, who's the guy on the right. Could be the one in the image that we speculate about.
Also cute green girl is always cute, no matter how blurry she is.
James Peterson
I can't tell if he has a uniform jacket like the other students or if he's supposed to be someone else. The picture is too blurry.
Henry Turner
Looking again, the shoulder pads don't match up with the coat the guy opposite Rean is wearing. So if that is him, it's him wearing a different outfit. Sadly, it looks like he's another Class VII newbie to me, which with Tonfa-girl, Green-hair, Altina and Sword-Boy makes five. I'm getting increasingly concerned this game is going to just be about a new Class VII and will shaft the older characters.
I really, really don't want them to go back to the school formula. I was fine with it once. But now I want to finish the story of those characters and Erebonia. I don't want follow another group of young kids out of their depth who keep getting rescued.
Henry Smith
Guy on the right panel looks like Roxas, but that'll probably go away when the image clears. Probably an Enforcer.
I think if we do, it'll only be once with Rean in the role of the savior. I highly doubt the older characters will get the shaft for the new guys(or specifically a new set of teenagers with attitude, like what MKX kind of did). There's already a lot of ground that's been covered, and they still have a lot of character loose ends to tie up. If anything, the kids may be setting up the future Calvard storyline to back to.
Plus, their class is small anyway, with Tonfa, Dual Wield, Green Hair, and Altina. They can't soak too much.
Isaac Wood
I don't mind if it's a class, especially if Rean is a teacher or similar.
I also don't mind that we're getting new characters. The story of Class 7 is pretty much over, they just have a few loose ends to tie up (I'm mainly thinking of Fie/Zephyr, and Emma/Witch things, others are more personal [Alisa, Jusis] or they don't have loose ends [Laura, Sara, Gaius, Machias, Elliot]).
Basically at the end of CS2 most of Class 7's stories are over but Rean's continues, and he has new people in his life. So if most of them do end up coming back, I won't mind if they don't have such a huge spotlight.
Blake Lopez
Laura's isn't done. She still has the Sandlot/Arianrhod stuff.
James Gomez
Oh yeah, that's true. I wonder how that'll come into play.
Nathaniel Robinson
I still think she's her mom.
Nicholas Ramirez
I hope we get to see Sharon interacting with Joshua and Renne, with Estelle and worst-girl having a nice girl-talk about pulling their loved ones out of dark places.
Henry Torres
If there is stuff to be had. I think she and Duvalie definitely need a duel before I'd say her story is over. Then there's that S. And her mother, who's suspiciously gone unmentioned when pretty much everyone else has confirmed status.
Gaius' story doesn't really end because he still hasn't found a way to keep his homeland safe from the affairs that go on outside of it. Nord could still easily become a battlefield between powers. Elliot's going to music school, and is accepted by his father, so his story was done by the end of CS1. Machias I can see trying to enter the government. He's seen that not all nobles are elitist pieces of shit and that he can get along and be friends with them, but whether that works out for him isn't that big in the grand scheme. Sara is more character revelation than development. And there's still plenty we don't yet, but she can stop anytime. Millium is developing her negative spectrum of emotions with the end of CS2 being the first time she ever cries, but that's also mostly a personal plot. And Crow's story is pretty much done, even though it ended in failure. Scarlett's still around though, so she'll probably try to kill Osbourne again.
There's at least ten things wrong with box art's composition, and I don't know where to start.
I do wonder who mystery girl is, tho.
Nathaniel Rivera
The power creep in CS2 is a bit retarded. Rufus can't just be a genius strategist, he's also a total badass. Most of the secondary characters are like this and it becomes fucking absurd in the finale when every character you beat is holding back or has some hidden power. Can any moon speakers confirm whether this escalation started in the Crossbell Arc or if it's new to Kiseki?
Jacob Harris
I believe you fought Campanella and Arianrhod in Ao and didn't even need to win those fights, just to demonstrate how powerful they are.
Cameron Watson
That shit pretty much started in TiTs didn't it? I mean pretty much all of ouroboros are OP and always "let you win".
Grayson Roberts
There are a few characters like that in Crossbell, but not as many. Rufus was baffling to me, though. His stomping of the party seems so weird and random. At least the other got proper build-up to their power.
Robert Diaz
At first I really found Trails in Sky boring but it really grows after some hours into it, it is really a comfy game.
I might actually give a try to second chapter if it goes on sale dos it get better compared to FC? Also anyone know if the final chapter is coming to the west?
Ayden Bennett
It clearly started in TiTS, but there are so many more of these characters now. In the finale of SC allies don't show up to keep the enforcers you beat busy while you progress forward.
Thomas Richardson
Thank you. Rufus is by far the worst example, excluding McBurn.
SC is one of the best JRPGs ever made, so yes. The 3rd is coming soon but it's not a direct sequel from what I understand, more of a side story with vital world building and lore.
Gavin Bailey
Trails in the Sky SC is basically the orgasmic payoff of plaything through and appreciating FC, because it's the game where shit actually happens. It's a fantastic experience from start to finish, and if you eventually fell in love with FC, then SC is gonna take your for one hell of a ride.
Isaiah Stewart
Yes please.
Joseph Campbell
Thats kinda weird, I just hope the SC concludes what happened on FC if thats the case.
That's pretty much how I felt playing FC, it was all a build up for something even better, glad to hear SC really delivers, btw not very familiar with Falcons RPGs in general, does the lore of Trails connect with the other games series(like Ys) in some way?
Adrian Gutierrez
Trails in the Sky SC is basically the orgasmic payoff of plaything through and appreciating FC, because it's the game where shit actually happens. Nothing outside of a few wink-wink nudge-nudge references that are just for fanservice. Trails has tons of continuity within itself, though. In fact, I can't think of a single series that has more.
Ian Bennett
It's not like anyone puts any effort into box art anymore anyway.
Colton Turner
Adol's beloved sister Adoline.
Landon Harris
FC is the buildup and worldbuilding, SC is the payoff.
I think the only other series that has a proper continuity within itself with returning characters and whatnot, is Yakuza.
Given that he wasn't just a strategist and was the strongest/most secretive of the Ironbloods, that's probably what they were going for. Him being this secret superpowered ace in the hole? It makes sense that his power and status are suddenly shown rather than having buildup. Also him being the Jade Rook working for Osbourne all along, just paints Osbourne as a much scarier villain to me than anything we've faced so far (though I haven't played Zero/Ao and 3rd yet)
That said, I really loved when the "powerful good" came in to fight the "powerful evil". It felt like "Oh good, powerful characters who actually DO something helpful to the main party/story outside of mentorship and working offscreen".
In that sense it feels a little more believable, because Rean and co. are a bunch of kids accompanied by Sara (the only person with remotely any kind of superpower level among them canonically, but still not on the same level as people like McBurn).
And about the holding back thing… Like I get McBurn because he hasn't found anyone to unleash his full power against, and Duvalie holds back because she's prideful. But Xeno and Leo have no reason for holding back. You could make the argument that they don't want to harm Fie so that they held back, but then when they realized she (and Class 7) were plenty strong, they decided to put their job above Fie on their priority list.
Cameron Hall
On that note, is St. Astraia uniform Altina is wearing? Or "just some black dress?"
Ryan Roberts
...
Aiden Richardson
Nah man, it starts back in SC. You never really win against an Enforcer(except when Zane suddenly mans up and takes Walter down), they just stop fighting you. Angel Weissman is stopped only because he was weakened by Loewe's demon sword and Loewe ramming a Dragoon or something into it.
I kind of like it. Sure there comes a time getting saved becomes a bit annoying, but I like the idea of having so many powerful characters around. Considering the stakes and the shit we get involved in, it'd be dissapointing if Junior Bracers, New Police Officers, and Military School students would be able to beat big bads involved in ancient conspiracies. I like the idea of that monstrous power being available to anyone so long as they work hard enough, have the best tools, or are just talented enough to have it. It's real like that.
She's wearing the same uniform. Lighting is just shit on that pic. I'm pretty sure some user has a better pic of her running in either Crossbell or Ordis saved.
Jackson Anderson
Yeah almost every enforcer fight in TiTs ends with with the stereotypical If there is one thing that triggers my autism in JRPG's it's when you kick a bosses ass only to have the cutscene afterwards show your party losing. The other thing that annoyed the fuck out of me in TiTs was the cognitive dissonance with bracer ranks , where your constantly told C-tier bracers like Anelace and her crew are so much stronger and more capable than you despite the fact the opposite is true in actual gameplay and the fact you whip their ass in the arena, and you saved the entire country as junior bracers whilst they did fuck all.
Austin Jones
Almost time for a new thread. Any OP updates fixes?

The only thing I can think of is the Ys Origin delay news is wrong. It was only delayed for the Vita. It's already out on PC and PS4.
