Pure tribalism. The Democrats got their asses kicked with his election and they still think that itself was the great victory.

Even though he raised taxes 11 times and gave amnesty to 3 million undocumented immigrants?

how can democrats be this retarded

"In an address before the California Council of Growers on April 7, 1970, almost a year after "Bloody Thursday" and the death of James Rector, Governor Reagan defended his decision to use the California National Guard to quell Berkeley protests: "If it takes a bloodbath, let's get it over with. No more appeasement.""

Fuck off with this meme, deinstitutionalisation of the mentally ill was a process that had been ongoing since the '60s

Reagan just got the flak over it because the '80s was really when the ill effects of dumping the mentally ill into the public really started ramping up.

Who are Holla Forums's approved US presidents?

The impact of globalization and all the other neoliberal tricks hadn't been felt so harshly yet by the middle class because America was still capitalizing on their spoils from WWII. Hence, for the average person out there it was a simpler time of greater prosperity, healthier family bonds, better living, and, overall, more happiness. It was also a time of fervent patriotism as the Soviet Union was on its last legs, this was also seen as a triumph of the "American way," that the people had been living. Reagan just happened to be president at that time, so people associate him with good governance and "better days." This is very common in human political history, going back well before Reagan, people will form a personality cult for a former leader that presided over what were seen as "better times."

but why not one that wasn't a completely evil piece of shit ?

This. Democrats have a similar veneration for Bill Clinton, even though - at best - he just rode the prosperity of the Dotcom bubble

Sure, he's an evil piece of shit insofar as all of these neoliberal establishment hacks are evil pieces of shit. In relation to just about every other president in the modern era there's nothing more or less evil about him unless you buy into the false dichotomy of "super evil Republicans" and "Democrats as the lesser of two evils," so people don't really have a problem venerating him in that regard.

From what I understand, his neoliberalism was the dramatic from a relative stand point.

The top tier tax rate was lowered from like 85% to like 60%.

Bush cut taxes too but the realative change was less dramatic from like 60% to 50%

tl;dr the country had strong af pro worker polices enforced by the state, and he was the first to gut them.

...

Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall!

It's a political stunt by the media elite to meme up mediocre conservative leaders and depict them as a godsend for whatever reasons.

Reminder, there are similar things going on in Britain with Thatcher and Germany with Kohl.

weren't people celebrating when she died ?

Theodore Roosevelt

They plug their ears and sit in a room full of other democrats and chant "I BELIEVE THAT SHE WILL WIN"

Of course, doesn't mean there aren't die hard defenders.

i'd say andrew Jackson if it wheren't for the trail of tears shit

Ronald Reagan was a strategic genius and a master persuader, beating all predictions of failure by leftist political scientists.

High or low taxes have nothing to do with being "pro worker" or "anti worker." You're conflating completely different issues. Neither is "high taxes" somehow less neoliberal than "low taxes." Please lurk more.

Yeah bullshit.
Low taxes mean weak government. Talk to someone who come from a place that has a weak government like Vietnam or Eastern Europe and see how scared of the state they are.

This isn't an endorsement of the state but every single one of you anarchists are fucking dumb if you can't see the ridiculous amount of services the state provides everyone.

Republicans hate that, falling rate of profit and all.

McKinley

He won 49 out of 50 states, but so did Richard Nixon.
