Bugs effect

its a mirror vid btw

All that "magic" in a sci-fi game

Nigger all those "magic" abilites were in previous games.

Once again, the only passable looking playstyle is space rugby.

I know but you can't tell me that this shit doesn't look more ridiculous, this isn't a space marine game anymore, it is Fable on space

I can, embed related.

fuck off you shill

I didn't see any ads.

I said it before and I will say it again, what's the point of all these skills, all these weapons, all this "maneuverability" if the AI is dumb? They even said that some enemies will either charge at you while the others will stay in cover and shoot. Why don't some of them have jetpacks to flank you or get a higher ground? Why don't they deploy shields when you start shooting them to recover? Why don't they cloak and sneak attack you, with a chance of being spotted? Why don't they use "magic"? Why don't the chargers use that vanguisher skill? Why don't the "mages" use that gravity warping ability on your party?
You could even make it so that the more intimate you are with your party members, by doing sidequests for them, the higher change it is that they will intercept their attacks. An invisible dude tries to sneak on you, well he just got killed by your party member, some vanguisher tires to ram in you, but your party member, if he is a vanguisher will ram in him at mid point, if he is a sniper will snipe him at mid point, if he is an adept will stop him with Dark Energy at mid point.
All these ideas aren't hard to implement and would make the combat feel "unique", "awesome" and "cinematic", but they are too lazy to do this. While not the first game to do this, I call this the Assassin's Creed effect, in which you are given dozens of ways to kill someone, but the basic attack already kills all the enemies, so the only reason to use something else is because it might be quicker, or can be used at a range, even if in 5 seconds you reach your target to use the basic attack. You need unique enemies that can be killed with unique strategies in order to make the game more fun.

Too many abilities, too little enemy variety.

ME1 had the most over-the-top CUHRAZY biotics. If anything, it's nice that biotics are going back to be about utility and crowd control and not just more damage

Oh for fuck's sake. Now I'm really hoping they don't shit the bed with the story or the characters.
At very least make it very easy to mod the textures and models with something else if they do have a "fugly quota"

The gameplay does seem a lot better and more fun than the previous games, almost like it's their focus now. As long as the story isn't too stupid, it should be an alright game.

The gameplay will be boring, because there will be no real variety in enemies.

Did you actually saw the video? It seems the game operates with loadouts, with you having 2 weapons and 3 abilities only at any time.
You can freely change those whenever you want and they did say something about "changing on the fly", so you probably can save a few loadouts and switch to them.

But still, it's 2 weapons and 3 skills at any time only, how is this too many abilties?
And why would you complain about "too many abilities, little enemy variety" on a video about showcasing all the weapons and abilities, not the enemies you'll face?

Well that didn't take long

If you can switch at any time then it really isn't 'just' three is it.

The formal explanation should be that non-asari biotics are extremely rare. The actual explanation is that people would cry about the difficulty of the game if enemies had all the same abilities the PC has. They cried about biotics back in ME1. The geth hopper, the geth that leaps behind you was removed as an enemy even though enemy geth are in ME2 because people cried about having to turn around.

A question, there was a discussion about this a while ago. People wanted webms instead of embedding videos from youtube, but when you made a webm to upload here the quality would get wrecked because of the size limit. And after that I remember some user suggesting a website(can't remember what it was) where you could upload bigger webms and people seemed to like it. So can't we just directly embed from that site? I mean we can embed from porn sites now for fucks sake, codemonkey(if he's still the codder on this site I don't even know what's going on anymore) should be able to implement that. Would save us a lot of time

If you can switch freely but only when outside of combat, or if there's a cooldown of a few minutes, yes it is.

Expect more. We are all retards here that can't spot shills on our own, we desperately need the self-appointed Shepards to guide us through the Marketing Valley.

I am not complaining that there are too many skills, I am complaining that they have no strategic value, they just kill stuff quicker or in a flashier way. There were other gameplay videos and nowhere do we see that the enemies have any other mode than charge at you, or stay in cover and shoot at you, in no other video do we see anything other than these two strategies, except for the walk slowly and shoot at you that is the tank. This video, would have been a good opportunity to present how you need to use the skills in order to overcome the AI's tactics, but all it shows is that it has no tactics.

Gameplay looks good characters and sjware make the game look like ass

They seem to be making a series of videos to showcase the gameplay, this one being the first.
The others were mostly about the graphics, the lore and the story. I honestly have no idea why you expected to see any of that so far, but I do expect to see an upcoming video about enemy variety.

The enemies that charge at you do so to flush you out of cover, he says so in the video, while others stay behind to snipe. It doesn't seem to be just the AI zerg rushing you, more like they have different roles. And those seemed generic bandits, perhaps they have something better to show.

No it wasn't because it did not showcased any tactics at all, like you noticed. It showcased their strength, that they have Armor and Shields and how to deal with them.

It presented several abilities as utility that you can use for some effect and others as "more effective versus Armor" or "good at removing shields and Synthetics", so it's hardly just "kill stuff quicker", especially looking at bionics.

I'm not sold on the game at all yet, seeing a video about what enemies you'll fight would be nice of course (I really don't want a repeat of Dragon Age 2), and something else about the story too. Just the assurance that it isn't incredibly retarded would be more than enough.

This is why we can't have threads about shitting on AAA games anymore.
This board is now so full of retards that they actually think this DA:I in space looks good.

Look at those animations
Look at that intrusive cluttered UI
Look at those boring weapons
Look at those Unity tier textures and models
Look at that boring gameplay

Consider suicide anyone here who considers giving Bioware or EA any money or even expects a good game out of this.

Oh wait, nevermind, its an actual shill

there is also a segment where a NPC hovers instead of moving.

fuck off shill

The visuals are nice, but so wore they in Cisquisition. I expect the same shit, a single player MMORPG with more than half of the charecters being gay and the only heero female love interests being disgusting

...

For an RPG, it's not too bad. I said it looks fun and it looks decent, not that it's some masterpiece. Are you one of those "it's either 10/10 or an automatic 0/10" guys?

Nevermind…

Let's not exagerate, user. Plastic hair and clip-on beards are not something one can easily forget.
Their "Pathfinder" actually looks worse than Shepard in the first game, I'm fairly sure they lost some artistic talent in that studio.
I just hope the gameplay can make up for it and the story doesn't turn me off too much.

on one hand, cool down weapons are back nigger, on the other hand, removing class limitations means less replayability. gun play look's the same as three so it maybe fun, i don't know

They specifically showed 3 different types of tech that use different types of ammo. Some use regular limited ammo, others recharge and the third one was alien tech. Some grenades are also limited in stock while others aren't.
Did you at least saw the video?

Not that it's a good thing, but that's pretty much how the other Mass Effect games were anyway.

ASS DEFECT: DIARRHEA

ME1 weapons used overheat mechanics…

There were other videos in which we see gameplay segments. Look, if they actually make enemies smarter and have somewhat similar abilities to the playable characters, I will retract what I said, but considering what we saw up until this point, and Bioware's previous games, I am certain that they won't. You will be Superman either fighting cardboard boxes on easy mode or bullet sponges on hard mode, but never less-than-retarded enemies.

That's not even a good tactic, a good tactic would be for the snipers to use suppress fire so that you would be stuck in cover, unless you use cloak or Dark Energy, while another group flanks you either from the rear, or from behind. That is an actual strategy used by soldiers.

Universal and infinite ammo was also in the first Mass Effect
The cover system was in all the games
The rest, I agree with.

The point of class restrictions is to give the player a choice of how they want to play and give them a playstyle tailored to that experience. This is a fundamental element of cRPGs that encourages replayability, providing the story is actually built and written in a way that makes choice semi-meaningful.

No class restrictions just tells me that they want this game to be as flattened out and dumbed-down as Fallout 4 where the only way to get a unique playthrough is by autistically restricting yourself to not using certain options, instead of just having a God-like character that can do everything all of the time.

Are you literally only here to play Bioware Internet Defense Force by nitpicking every post?

These faggots are one of the biggest, most overfunded studios in the industry and all they can churn out is dumbed down, oversimplified action games with a facade of roleplaying elements. Cisquisition seemed like it had glimmers of promise and that it wouldn't be as bad as Holla Forums was saying.. but you know what? It fucking was.

Sure, these are nitpicks, and some of them not wholly accurate, but at a certain point, there's just no reason to care. They're half-assed observations, not a forced meme being screamed in a dozen new threads every day. Fuck off.

Out of curiosity, what were the "glimers of promise"? I am genuinely curios.

Just the usual bits of blind delusion

Glimmers. As in itty bitty flashes of potentially nothing. No one really wants every Triple Ayyy game released to be shit and some would rather try and reserve judgement.

As for the recharging ammo thing and the skill trees. That shit sucked in the earlier games too and they've had the chance to unfuck it and make it a more worthwhile mechanic, but they didn't, most likely because they couldn't collectively rub two braincells together long enough to come up with a solution that didn't involve just making the game into a flashier looking Borderlands-style shooter.

yeah i know, thats what i said, removing class limitations means less replayability. one of the neat things of me2 was playing the different classes in new playthroughs, going from biotic for my femshep too a mshep vanguard was fun as hell.

Yeah, I said I'm not sold on it either. Your worries are my worries, I'm just trying to be optimistic here because being pessimistic hasn't helped at all.
I mean, it's really weird that they are focusing this much on gameplay, the very studio that seems to care only about story and how gay they can make it. I'm just surprised at the sudden shift in priorities and I want to see where they go with this.

And on their way out.
According to an user that showed up here and claimed he was part of EA (so take it for what it is), their jewish overlords are getting fed up that so much social justice isn't bringing more cash to them. Apparently, Andromeda is their last shot before they are permanently cut, or so he said.

That got me thinking that perhaps they though "might as well make something good if it's our last" or maybe "well, Tumblr ain't biting, let's try a different demographic".
Maybe they decided to not make their game as shit anymore, for a change of pace? It's too early to pass judgement and some things really look fucking stupid, but others at least look like an attemp.

This is all this game is good for.

The really tragic part here is that there's a lot of good ideas here (that have been featured in other games). Different types of weapons for different races (though this should have been a thing in the first ME game for all the Citadel races), different armor types susceptible to different types of weapons, melee, mobility with the jetpack, etc.

Sadly, with BioWare's execution it looks like shit and it will play like shit. The enemies already look braindead, like when they were showing that pull power and all those enemies bunched up and weren't firing, or how everyone looks to be a bullet sponge.

Also, those weapons, especially that rotating magazine, are giving me cancer. How the fuck do you even aim that thing?

Can cuckchan leave?

The gameplay looks surprisingly decent but I just can't get over how ugly the characters and animations are

Seriously? How awful do you have to be at video games to not be able to finish a waifu bait RPG with romances?
As far as I remember the only "difficult" parts (difficult here meaning not being able to run and gun but taking shots from behind cover and using abilities) were in optional quests like that moon base mission.

The ideas behind it are decent, but I guarantee you the execution will be anything but.

...

...

...

I'm surprised they didn't just make a more gay and brown Destiny to be honest.

Please don't tell me this is what I imagine it is.

I'm getting Fallout 4 vibes.

Sheit you're right it's a genuine shell.

Ayy, it really is Gears + Magic. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

Also webm'd since OP is a lazy nigger.

Reminder that the pain will end. Soon.

studio is the same that worked on dai thats why it looks so fucking same in a lot of aspects

Even better. It'll be a lesson to show everyone that killing your own father for the sake of proglib dominance is a just and right thing to do for the greater good.

This image should be updated properly.
The companies should be poorly stitched together zombies and EA should be dressed as a necromancer.

Why?

Those companies were already dead when EA bought them out.

Especially Bullfrog. EA attempted to do gamers a "favor" by attempting to bring back Dungeon Keeper, a favor that ended with tears and bittere hatred. Par for the course whenever EA works their dark magicks.

But seriously, all jokes aside.

All the "talent" from Westwood, Pandemic and Bullfrog had already jumped ship to Microsoft and gloated about how awesome it was to be at Microsoft.

Bullfrog was already a bloated corpse in the water by the time EA bought them out.

They all gloated at how Microsoft would let their dream games come to life, but nah. Microsoft said fuck that, "KINECT SHIT FOR EVERYONE" and now they're stuck in Hell, where they belong for betraying their studios.

Except for Peter Molyneux, he escaped that hell and is now trapped in a completely different one.

fucking faggots didnt even play the previous games

I thought you could do that with any game with both cars and guns.

The more i find out about the retarded and disgusting underbelly of the video game industry, the less i like the medium.

If this game had proper multiplayer I would consider buying it. Last Bioshit game I bought was ME2 and it was garbage. ME1 was passable. Dragon Age was boring as fuck. Pozzed nongame company.

Are you a pototoe?

Nice dubs

They should just release the multiplayer by itself for a few bucks, that's all this shit's good for anymore
Also, I see a lot of people complaining about a variety of things, but I never see anyone mention how fucking bland the environments are, I don't know how bioware is so goddamn awful at it after having so much experience

You could have the best game mechanic there is and still have UGLY/uncanny chara design and agenda pushing dried up cunt at the writing.
FUCK
BIOWARE

Companies these days are banking on hoping that nobody remembers anything.

They constantly rotate staff. Konami fucked up Silent Hill that way.

One of the major oddities of gaming is that if you're not a "big name player" , you're going to get replaced, or you're going to get cocky and move on to a bigger , better project in the hopes that you become a big name.. Only for it to end up going nowhere.

...

...

Cancer is too benign a condition to use it for comparison with this.

This. For an open world game it's awfully empty.

Did you even wander around that empty desert to the amount of hours I wasted in it? No? The you simply have no say. As for the combat, it's going to be as broken as Inquisitions was, as in mage+magic sword+shield can solo anything.

...

If this fails will this be the end of Bioware?

No. They already fallen. Now they are just a front for EA. But if this fail, no, the guys who are making it will be fine. The still have DA and TOR to milk. And future ME games. There will be probably no new IPs for them. And one day, EA will just shut down them and take IPs somewhere else, or give them to another studio.

Gears + Destiny to me. Remember this is coming with a multiplayer as well.
And having all the techs open? What made the first games challenging was that you were locked in a class, freeform like is just too easy.

...

Could be OK, I guess?
Neat.
No, fuck you. Fuck you in your fucking face.

you are now aware that sci-fi is just todays magic. Magic was more believable in stories decades ago, if a writer wants to make magic more believable today, he just uses some half assed science background and calls it a science fiction.

Also, I like that they're bringing back ME1's planetary hazards.
I don't know, this game looks like such a mixed bag. They seem to have brought back quite a few features from the original that had a lot of potential, but a lot of it just looks wonky as fuck.
And it's funny that they've dropped the pretense and just call it "ammo" now, instead of "thermal clips."

I can't tell whether they still have power detonation or not.
Sage for doublepost.

It's just an attempt to bank in on nostalgia like JJ Abrams without technical finesse.

...

This image is retarded.

Watch this place get ME4 Generals. Watch them being protected by the mods.

Don't call it a grave.

Someone will supply us with webms so we can all take a collective shit on it.

Heck, I'll play it.

...

I'm not willing to completely write the game off before it comes out. It doesn't look that shit besides the gun grabbing thing. But I will definitely wait for reviews and honest third-party gameplay footage before I even consider getting it. Not cautiously optimistic, not pessimistic, just cautious.

...

It already has. BioWare, the real BioWare, the team in Edmonton, is a shell of its former self and will probably be disbanded soon. Hell, they may already be gone–I haven't heard a peep from them since that F2P asymmetric multiplayer game they were working on got cancelled.
This team in Montreal is new, and was set up by EA, with the name "BioWare" just slapped on them to make retards think they're part of the real BioWare. The only thing they did before Andromeda was the ME3 multiplayer which was decent.

I've known drug addicts to have done worse for less

Nah.

Yeah. It's LARPers bitching about other LARPers.

Nah.

Sounds like every mass effect ever.

Enjoy your 20 hugs, faggot

I WANT SHILLS TO LEAVE

ITS FUCKING BIOWARE, ITS FUCKING EA
ARE YOU THAT EAGER TO RIDE THE BULL?

So how do you guys reckon that Bioware will explain away the colonial undertones of the story.

I dunno, it could be funny.

They're just peaceful immigrants rising up against an oppressive regime that wants to segregate them behind a wall.
And daddy is totally wrong for agreeing with this, so he needs to die.

...

...

Better than the official design, but not by much. True patricians know that the mask should never have been removed.

I know all about Manveer "if his skin is white, he dies tonight" Heir, famalamadingdong.

its ok to kill them if they're white supremacists.

Looks like absolute shit, too much like Dildo Age Cisquisition.

The faces have lower quality. At least the animator in DA:I got facial expressions on them. Here mouth and eyes move independently and the rest of the face doesn't shit at all.

Then there is clearly something wrong with your head if you think this won't be a complete disaster.

The artstyle, some of the game design, and for fuck's sake, they can't make open-world sandbox gameplay right, that preview of the game world reminds me too much of Cisquisition, fuck's sake, Bioware is dead, the only ones who care about this is the drones.

But nothing worry about, GOTY 2017 with retarded "This is the best mature sex-romance omnisexual game ever!" Papa EA is gonna love gutting them down even more after the game releases.

BioWare is going behind the chemical shed. EA is planning to merge them and whatever is left of Maxis and a bunch of other walking corpses after ME4 flops (and it will flop). They're gonna be stuck working on procedurally generated trash for the rest of their careers.

Mass Effect 3 was garbage, but even that was worth it(at a massive discount) for the multiplayer

Respawn entertainment is in the Red with Titanfall 2's lackluster sales, they and along with Bioware is gonna be their new sweatshop studios working for DICE.

Which is a pity because EA intentionally fucked them over to drag them into their Borg collective.

To add insult to injury they'll have to work with these untalented Swedish cucks. I wish the niggers and mudshits would hurry up and slaughter every white person in Sweden.

Open world sandbox is pretty damn hard to make anything good out of. Part of the issue tends to be them putting emphasis on graphics which is completely anathema to making a big world with lots to do. Plus a shitty standard game, etc.

It also needs good level design to make the places interesting to explore. Hell, even if there's nothing of much value in an area, if it looks awesome, you won't feel like you completely wasted your time.

But that would require talent and effort.

Deal with the EA devil, don't expect there isn't a price.

The problem with them following on that bandwagon with DA Cisquisition is the gameplay and interaction with the world was fucking MMO fetch quest and grinding shit-tier, doesn't work well when the story is linear as hell.

If they had been smart the levels would have been big, open ones, kind of like the military base in Ground Zeroes, where players could approach the problem any way they saw fit.

Alas, BioWare is staffed with retards that only want to make fujoshi bait.

Well, most of the people who built Bioware is gone, replaced with the most tumblrite posse you can expect in the industry, well fuck it, more things to do this year when it gets cracked and we'll stream and pirate the fuck out of it. RIP Bioware, you're Cancerware now.

They kept the me3 lore raping gameplay.
They are still after the call of duty players.
Even of you are a repulsive leftist, you should trash the game just because of that.

wut

Oh, you mean thermal clips, don't you?

They were stupid for trying to make up a lore explanation for it which made no sense in the bigger picture instead of setting up a proper retcon with a long alternative history to establish it in the lore. I bet it would have found more acceptance that way.

In the future, everyone forgot about air conditioning.

How come they didn't notice that the AI looks really bad in these videos?

Now they're hoping people won't remember ME1's overheat-based weapons system and calling it Andromeda technology.

The scrapped ME2 hybrid overheat & heatsink system was the superior system, by the way.

Extremely painful.

Everything in ME:A is shitting on the established lore. The mere existence of independent ftl ships is a break with all technology available during the Reaper crisis. That was the whole point in having mass relays and why the Reapers made the civilizations depending on them for ftl travel.

Not to mention that the lack of Reapers in other galaxies means the whole premise was moot. Every single galaxy should be controlled by anorganics.

...

It's a microtransaction because $100 will be a drop in the ocean compared to the vast amount of money you will spend on the game later. :^)

Shields are standard issue, and bionics goes through them. When you use a bionic power, all your bionic abilities should go on cooldown.
They could have built a lore-coherent gameplay, with longer firefights and deadlier enemies (bionics goes both way), but then the easy-reward mobs-in-waves flashy gameplay would have gone to shit, and goodbye CoDers.
To date, the best gameplay is still the one of the first title. Animations sucked and high end gear ruined balance, but it did have a soul and a brain.

Between*

...

Dicks are literally designed to do that

What I don't get is why they switched to a new galaxy and still have most of the old races as well as discount Twi'leks.

Was it really?
As mediocre as that game was I felt that XCOM declassified was much better gameplay wise than any of the mass effect games. 1 I don't particularly remember my griefs with it, but 2 and 3 were just braindead TPS cover shooting that I despise.
Why the fuck is AAA so incompetent with TPSs? Why are there so few indie TPSs?

eloquent and truthful

Why make up something new when you can just rehash the old? Especially when you're running on a budget with no creative talent.

Look man, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and not call you a shill, but let's not pretend that Bioware can make a decent game at this point. Their storytelling is awful, they legitimately go out of their way to make none of their characters good looking, they STILL can't into non ugly facial features, they cut out choices like weapon varieties for the shitty excuse of people not being bothered to read what the choices do.

AND FOR GOD SAKES MAN THEY GAVE PEOPLE COLOR CODED ENDINGS. So I think you'll have to forgive people for not giving you or this shit company the benefit of the doubt.

They switched to a new galaxy and kept the old shit because the only other option was a prequel
On one hand, it's way more contrived, but on the other hand they have the freedom to fuck around with everything without stepping on the toes of the old story, which their shit writers definitely would

If I recall, this is not the case in ME1. But the rest of the issues could be easily circumvented by giving enemies access to player and squadmate skill trees, and competent AI scripting that utilizes the level of mobility the player has. Game instantly gets a lot tougher (theoretically) because powerleveling or grinding wouldn't be a guaranteed route to victory.

Top-shelf Neil Breen.

Weird. I didn't see any enemies (or allies) with barriers, only shields and armor. Doesn't make sense. Also, it's "biotics."
The least polished, but the most interesting. I wish ME2 had simply improved ME1's interesting but janky gameplay. Instead, they turned it into something that functioned better but lacked its own identity.

Fuck the old story. It's just a glorified AN ANCIENT EVIL AWAKES story that spans three games for some reason.

Yeah, they didn't step on any toes, they ran the whole thing over with a steamroller.

You're right, it wasn't. In ME1, each power had a separate cooldown timer. In ME2, this was scrapped for a universal cooldown timer, probably because the number of abilities was drastically reduced.

I'm sure the shit writers also share that opinion, considering how they fucked it all up and then changed the setting the first chance they got

HOLLY SHIT I JUST REALIZED THAT KIDS WILL ONE DAY BE NOSTALGIC FOR THIS CRAP EVEN THOUGHT ITS SHIT!
THEY WILL RELIGIOUSLY DEFEND MASS EFFECT AND DRAGON AGE JUST BECAUSE THEY WHERE CHILDREN WHEN THEY FIRST PLAYED THE GAME

Watch 8ch/v/ steam group full of people playing it on release, the very first day

Congratulations on the realization that the world is stuffed with retards.

That too, but I lean more towards consoles being the key problem. They considered the target userbase and how to 'balance' biotics, and like a MMO dev they made it shittier. In addition, hardware must have also been a concern since they were still working off 7th gen stuff.

Any such group is antithesis to imageboards as a concept and should be treated like the larpers from r/Holla Forums they are.

I honestly doubt anyone will be nostalgic for this. I don't think anyone except maybe smudboy has ever or will ever give a shit about DA:Inquisition and by extension, this game.

I'm honestly glad that's all anyone knows of that group. I joined it thinking I could find another Warbros-tier group to hang out in.
Boy was I wrong.

For what purpose?

I think that's the go-to excuse too often. You need to look at each game on a case-by-case basis. Gamepads couldn't have been too much of a problem, since ME1 still had a fairly large number of abilities, and you could just select them in a radial menu.

They browse this board and they are posting here right now, they are this board's quality

Seriously to anyone considering it, just pirate it, you'll save your money and the time you'll waste defending it because you feel buyer's remorse

How does this logic work when talking about something the previous game did and the sequel left out?

You're not getting me here, it's more a mentality they wanted to emulate. Recall that ME2 was not an iteration of ME1, it was meant to be a soft reboot, and this idea applied to every aspect of the game from the story to the gameplay. ME1 was first released for consoles and had the radial menu and all them powers as well, but it was mostly empty maps with glitchy skyboxes and reused assets. Since EA put real money into the second one, Bioware altered their thought processes and looked at what was popular the most at the moment, in hopes of getting a slice of that pie.

Oh, forgot to expand on the hardware thing. More detailed environments with a shitload of more assets in memory meant less room for wide open spaces and physics glitches. Thus, the simplification. They didn't think their new audience would give a damn anyway, and the old audience was factored out in their mind.

That's a reasonable hypothesis.

That's the story in ME:A too

What do you know, it's also the story in Dragon Age Origins!

Alright someone post the story checklist for most of biowares games already

When did boring weaponry become the standard?

Aren't shotguns supposed to be the close range?

close range is melee?

Clearly never played Doom or FEAR. Shotguns being exclusively close-range is a videogame convention. Either way, here close-range means fighting with actual medieval weaponry (in a high-tech setting, no less). Normally, I'd expect something like a high-tech culture forced to deal with resource scarcity and reduced to makeshift weapons while conserving their more powerful arsenal, but >Bioware

Let's not kid ourselves, all Mass Effect games (except ME1) have been close-range only. Hell, most video games in general don't do combat beyond 100 meters.

Bullshit. Most games don't even have fleshed out melee like FEAR or Vanquish. At most it's some weak looking rifle butt and that's it.

I wish I had your optimism.

all these threads are just marketing. I would protest but Mark love "legitimate" shills for some reason.

no need to be upset user.

...

What gives?

I liked Vanquish, but to me "fleshed out melee" means something like Chivalry, or Souls games. Just having different attacks with different weapons isn't fleshed out.
Not to say Vanquish's melee was bad, it just wasn't deep.

In relation to shooters where it's just a rifle butt it's deep. If I remember correctly you could even charge one attack, I think it was either the heavy machine gun one or the shotgun one.

but Vanquish was a third person shooter

Eh. Even games like the original Halo had melee variations; the Needler would do more damage because it was spiked, for instance.
But yeah, compared to most shooters, it's deeper. That's not saying much.

And apparently you never played it.

Why haven't we tried to Boston Salt Party this game yet? It would cause reddit and tumblr to create a new ocean.

We don't know the plot yet.
The Boston Salt Party was stupid.

yes but I own it an plan to play it and listened to Cuhrayzee Talk Podcast ep 03™ with Mike kobayashi and Zaarock. I bet you also think Transformers Destruction is a "melee" game.

^wrong video

Vanquish isn't a "melee game," but it's a game that has a melee mechanic.
I never played Transformers because I don't jack off to anything just because it's from the '80s.

I just recently played it. Not bad, but not as good as Metal Gear Rising. Wouldn't play much money for the game
