All the side characters, except Nepgya, actually have content that isn't related to the main story so it's not spoilers, but still have content so they aren't just random characters, although most of the DLC content is cosmetic like swimsuits.

Umio dlc doesn't add any special scenes either. They're both good to have though. They're bonus voices are worth unlocking.

Get all character dlcs.

Get the Million Arthur, Nitroplus and God Eater character DLC's. They're not just characters, they come with their own extra scenes as well and are unlockable later in the game. Avoid the Nepgya and Umio DLC, they add nothing and break the game because they will always be in your party for no reason starting from lvl 1.

Umio dlc should have been unlocked naturally as after Neptune and Nepgear met him and Uzume. Nepgya should have been unlocked as well
