Platinumed it on Valentine's Day.

I think it's a great sequel; just like GR1 only bigger, faster, harder. The Lunar Style is great, movement feels fluid and it's fun to rocket jump everywhere, there's shittons of gems to collect again, I quite liked the boss fights and the challenge missions. Some of the rankings for the style races are insane, watching the ghost replays I'm not sure how they dew it. Talismans?

Can't wait for the Raven DLC, both for Raven herself and the Ark subplot. Generally I'd say the story is so cuhrazy it works, clearly a rewrite of Incal, but fundamentally it's just the typical good vs. evil shtick. I wouldn't say it's about rich vs. poor like some other anons noted, more about the duality of things in general. (Kat/Raven, Kali/Durga, Light/Dark Nevi, Vogo/Fi, etc.) I think there's some hidden bits of lore we're not explicitly told, like the statues in the cities and the source of the mining sites themselves. Who exactly is the fusion of Kat and Raven? When you're up in the castle it's implied Kat/Alua isn't worthy of the throne but still got the part - was the actual Queen split in two against her will? Was Raven the first to fall as a result and that's why Kat didn't get her guardian animal?

I'm going to start it up here and there to get more Dusty tokens and snap some photos because Kat is the cutest waifu.

So the next game is about fixing that shit and feeding the hungry.

THe game honestly took me by surprise. So many normalfags claimed the game's plot was generic anime garbage turned to 11. I'm happy to see that shits not the case at all. Seriously, fuck western cunts. It great to see a game where you technically have a limited amount of abilities manage to let you do so much with this ability. I love exploring the worlds and seeing how nicely detailed the environments and buildings are. It's so rare for a sequel to manage to take everything great about the original and make it better.

I'm kicking myself for not picking up GRR. Just a few months ago it was $25 too.
I found a listing on ebay for less than $90 Brand-New though. I bought it.

How difficult would you say Plat-ing this game is? Is there plenty of post-game stuff?

Took a break from Yakuza 0 (which was, in turn, a break from GR2) and got back to this. Been trying to earn those neko shekels but only have a measly 300; I think Sony might need to up the reward number because the number of treasure hunts is dwindling.

I'm on the final chapter. The four before were quite the ride, to say the least. It's basically a boss gauntlet and while I managed to pull through, my performance was noticeably sub-par and the salt was real. If the better gravity shifters could share their wisdom, I'd appreciate it. My overall problem is that I'm a sitting duck and when I do try to be mobile, I'll immediately lose track of the enemy and the later ones are extremely mobile.
Kali: it seems the best choice is to fight her on the ground, dodge her charge and hit her from the back. She has a freakin' anti-air grab.
Kali and Durga: literally no idea what I'm doing. If I'm not getting pelted by icicles from every angle, Kali is jumping all the way to stratosphere to anti-air me.
Mysterious Woman 1: wormhole kick doesn't seem to work and I only beat her by throwing stuff at her. Like Kali, shifting just seemed to make the fight harder.
Mysterious Woman 3: seems the only opening is when she's charging a debris ball though I mostly waited for her to come down and I'd slap her around for a bit.
Gang bang: this one was the worst. Game tells me to protect Durga but I can't even keep track of the Deltas, let alone hit them. In the end, it's pointless. Durga's HP was fully depleted but it carries on anyway.
Monster Kali: not particularly difficult but those projectiles come out almost without warning and the worst thing is getting caught in in it's body when you miss a kick and completely lose all sense of direction because it's dark pink everywhere you look.

I figured that cunt was a Delta once they referred to Kat as 'Sea Cat'.

I don't think it's all that weird given some of the things that happen. Like the first game, people think they're in for comfy waifu adventure but then things get bleak, cryptic and dark very quickly and this one ups the ante with those paintings that look like something out of Bloodborne and body horror out of fuckin' nowhere.

The already mentioned BB, Nioh, Yakuza 0 and NieR plus KoF XIV if you're into FGs and Persona 5 (this one's also on PS3). A bit on the pricey side but the Odin Sphere remake is pretty good.

Probably nothing new but just found out that if you shift to a high point and rocket jump forward (so you'll go up) you can traverse cities in one freakin' jump, maybe even go over one city and to a third if they're lined correctly.

Not difficult, but can be time consuming when it comes to two trophies: Gem Collector and Rift Hunter. You can get most of the gems through just playing the game and collecting them in the cities, but mining is either super slow or you get lucky with a rare nevi. After beating all the missions and challenges and stripping the cities bare of gems, I still had around 15k gems to collect for powering up Kat to the maximum. It's easy to get that much by repeating the lunar jumps in Chapter 19 for half an hour, so in the end it wasn't that big of a deal. But Rift Hunter requires you to hunt down giant nevi in each mining zone and these fuckers spawn completely randomly. I waited around 6 hours just goofing off, taking photos and finishing up my furniture collection before the announcement for the strange phenomena in Candle Zone popped up. If you kill them as they pop up while you beat the main game you shouldn't have so much downtime, though.

Post-game is just treasure hunts, photography and climbing the challenge rankings. I mean, it's a singleplayer game, I don't really expect something more. If they add friendly multiplayer matches between the Shifters/Angels/Deltas I'd be totally down for that, though.

Also, in case you wondered, the OST you can buy off PSN only has 15 tracks, missing most of the city ambience and some other stuff. Not really worth a purchase. Wait for the official full CD release rip.

They need to reset the gems every so often. Not often enough to unbalance the game, but even after the actual game part is over - I'd still like to boot it up and float around collecting gems like an OCD autist.

Apparently the final Dusty Token thing is 5000, from my understanding. I'm certainly enjoying the challenges this time around though, they're more fun than they were in the first one.

It's a talismin at 6,000. 5,000 is the final costume. You can see the list of rewards at the bottom of the statistics in the settings.

This is a total misrepresentation of what happens in JPL (and the half of the game that takes place in Hekseville has nothing whatsoever to do with class conflict). Kat doesn't lead a communist revolution, she helps restore control of JPL to its rightful royal family who ends class conflict by forcing compromise.

Where the fuck do you user's complaining about high price of GRR live? I can order it from damn near every retailer for 30$ or less.

Is it in stock in any of the places that list it for $30 or less? I can find a few US retailers that list it for around that but they all say unavailable or out of stock. I've only seen retailers selling between $80-$200 with stock. I bought it shortly after it came out, so I didn't search to hard though, since I don't need it.

Only a few of them say it is out of stock. After looking more closely they are mostly used copies and quite a few of them are actually 40$ + shipping, but it's still not as bad as you guys are saying.

If you look on amazon or ebay GRR is expensive as hell. On top of that, all my local stores within a 2 hour drive didn't have it either. Not even a single craiglist ad either.

No contrary to lefty pol there, the game is far from a Robinhood story. It's essentially a fantasy marxist world with abysmal writing and taken to extremely stupid levels conceptually. Such as:

There is no depth to the story or characters. Evil Rich, poor underclass, stupid men, corrupt men, evil white invaders (with we was kangz), and the whole premise of the narrative completely unraveled by the position of privedge the Kat is in. Now I'm not talking about being rich, I'm talking about essentially being superman and taking for granted you are superman.

Unlike other characters in the universe Kat is immune to gravity for the most part. The difference is demonstrated at the beginning of the game where you haven't had a decent haul in 3 days so you haven't eaten, then get your gravity cat back (I forget it's name) and are able to harvest in minutes what would take weeks for a regular person. Of course even with mining being a element of the game you are never able to use the crystals for anything other than the downgraded level up system. There could have been some much brevity given to the story if you were the one keeping everything afloat by having to go mining yourself, but this is never done.

Even if you are able to ignore the blatant Marxist fantasy world the game is, it's also just incredibly boring. You're not robin hood, you're marx fulfilling the revolution and none of the characters are worth getting attached to. Unlike the first game which painted a diverse picture of human behavior everything in this world is flat and 2 dimensional. Kat's position is never relatable because of her powers making her on a different level, and then everything just works out because the power of plot.

It's not a very engaging game. The level up system has been downgraded in both visuals and capacity to become rather unfulfilling. Combat is made easier to reach a wider appeal whereby everything is made stupid easy, while boss fights are made stupid hard and unbalanced so you will turn down the difficulty to be able to progress, then turn it back up to be able to enjoy a weak challenge.

As a fan of the series, even on the Vita this was a disaster and probably killed the series. Leftypol seems rather content with it to a point they're outright lying about its quality and issues, but that's the whole story.

Dumb question time: after finishing the game, does it stay in a open world status like the first one or should I get everything done before proceeding with the final chapter?

You can explore as usual after the last missions. You can also replay every mission from the pipe house, including the last ones.

I know there's that possibility after clearing episode 20 but I was wondering if I can also do that after getting the true ending.
Because at this rate, I'm only getting those 5000 tokens by 2019.

seriously same thing here. I have a tendency to wast hours fucking around in Gravity Rush and not actually playing the main story. Just endlessly flying around and collecting shit. Had the game day one and I'm only on mission 13. 90% of my total playtime is taking photos and doing scavenger hunts.

This game's dangerous for dawdlers. And I'm playing both this and Yakuza 0. They both got this "make sure you do as much as possible before going to the end" vibe and I think I'll probably start Automata before finishing any of them.

Haven't mined much though. People say the rare Nevi is completely random and I don't even know what I'm looking for (is it hidden in the area? is it a green Nevi like in the prequel'); every time there's a gravity storm announcement, I go there, follow the prompt and fight that boomerang Nevi, get a shitty talisman and back we go.
Also need to do challenges. As with the prequel, those results aren't just some formality.

I'm notoriously slow at playing through games and its not because they are difficult, I just do everything to extend the life of anything I enjoy almost to the point of tedium. I'm the kind of person who once they unlock the ability to replay missions, they spend 20 hours replaying the first boss just for fun. I'm the kind of person who starts a game, plays through the fun parts then restarts the game to play them 10 more times before I even get halfway through a game.

Same here, I stopped playing every other game I've been playing just to focus on this. I only just now finished Chapter 9 today.

As for the mining site thing, you wait for the notification that there's a "gravitational anomaly", and then when you select it as your mission/destination, go talk to to the miner guy and go to whichever mining zone the announcement mentioned, and there will be a boss nevi that, when you defeat it, will give you a special talisman named after that Zone. Don't quote me on this, but I THINK you only need to beat it one time for each zone.

This is correct, once in every zone should do it. Rare Nevi are not Giant Nevi.

Nearly plat'd, only missing 3 trophies and I'm at 2500 Dusty Tokens. They adjusted the rates again, so I'm only getting 8 tokes per every nice on a photo and I forget, but not a lot per every found and placed Treasure Chest. Getting every costume is going to be a pain.

Raven didn't fall as far as we know. She was always in Hekseville, and she got her shifting guide somewhere down in Bottoume with the rest of the kids, which is how she got out. Kat didn't have a shifting guide because ???? until Bit decided to intervene.

There's nothing you can do in those fights sometimes. Kali is a whore and can grab you out of every attack and get tons of invincibility frames and can dodgeroll forever until the game decides to let you hit her. Fighting both of them was a pain. Trying to keep Durga alive, I just focused on throwing shit at Kali and ignored Durga. Fighting the blob, Jupiter style crash into the side, that should do some damage. I did take quite a bit of damage, but honestly the mechaskull is the cause of like 8 of my 15 game overs.

Yes, you can get the true ending and it spits you back out to before the true ending so that you can keep collecting stuff.

There's no notification for rare Nevi, you find them during normal mining runs, but you don't have to deal with them at all.

Dusty Tokens were buffed for a limited time in the past weeks, but now they're back to normal rates. There is probably going to be more limited time boosts in the future.

Finally beat the main part of the game. I'm in the Eto chapter now. I've already talked to the Shining Girl all four times. I'm gonna finish all the other shit I can before doing the final main quest mission. I'm kind of disappointed they did absolutely nothing with the World Pillar in this game. I thought maybe we'd get to go to the top and stuff or something. This has been such a damned great game still though. I DO wish they'd explain more things. Like how Kali turned into that fucking abomination. Or what that purple glowy pillar thing the council had ships shooting at was.

I think it's just a side-effect of the genetic manipulation stuff the good Doctor did to her. There's actually something that I don't think any one but me saw because I sucked in the first Kali fight: If you don't finish her in time, she regenerates part of her health, implying she's got a healing/growth factor. If this goes haywire, she could become a monster.

Not gonna lie, I almost cried as the citizens started singing Kat's song. And I love how the schoolgirls cheer and cry out as Raven walks or flies by. And DAMN Elektricitie is hot. I didn't get any good screenshots of her when she wasn't all glowy though.

I loved the part where Raven is speaking to Misai at the end and says "What do you know about what it's like to have half of who you are torn away from you?" Obviously meaning Kat is her other half. Actually, the biggest thing is that she took both Dusty and Raven's raven with her to the black hole, but the raven came back which implies Kat could come back too.

The additional story features rival characters “Lumino, Guardian of Light” and “Tenebria, Guardian of Darkness” designed by guest character designer Tatsuya Yoshikawa, and the key to the story in the form of the “Garbage Collector, Guardians of Time and Space” designed by Sawaki Takeyasu.

Outside of the additional story, the downloadable content will also add additional elements to the main game. The highest level of the “Devool Trench Mine” will increase from 30 to 50, and the rarity of “Talismans” you can obtain will also increase.

Tenebroso means murky in Italian. Tenebrism is dramatic illumination in painting, very high contrasts between light and dark areas.

'Tenebras' is Latin for 'darkness'. The root word is still in languages that take from Latin - Italian (as already pointed out), Portuguese and Spanish (probably Romanian too but can only mention these three for certain).

Yo Holla Forums, I recently got GR2 this week and just started to playing it. Just a major question; Is there in any known censorship in the western version of the game?

Just ran into a minor bug - if you find a treasure apple in your world (i.e. - not through treasure hunts) the game seems to stay stuck in "treasure hunt complete" transition status and what this does is prevent your camera from registering collection photos. At first I thought it was a coincidence until I hunted down a missing Saghassi to be certain.
Anyway, save and reload will do the trick.

Why did the ending suck dick again? It's been almost 3 weeks since I beat the game and I still can't wrap my head around why they bothered to end it in such a way when it was well confirmed that it would be the last game. No, don't try to tell me it's "the last game with Kat" because the director might as well have said he's done, saying he might do another one if the technology advances enough to do interesting shit with it. We'll likely just see another IP instead.

I don't wish to know every little detail to fill all the plot-holes, but just enough to feel somewhat satisfied. The lost couple saying there are other world pillars doesn't matter much to me because in that case it can be taken at face value in that they obviously come from another dimension or alternate reality and not necessarily the same universe as Kat, being a tragic side story about two lovers trying to find each other due to an experiment gone horribly wrong. The ark DLC being ripped from the game is fucking dumb because players are expected to have at least played the first game to appreciate the second, and that's how sequels work in general. But no, they had to rip out that segment and dangle it in our faces saying it's something that we can have for free (when it was originally part of the main game in the first place) to apologize for a delay that didn't have to happen because the game bombed anyway in the west, not that I expected it to top any charts for a follow-up to a goddam vita game. If there is going to be any other DLC after it'll probably just take place before the final chapter and be a dumb side-thing like the first game while explaining nothing about why Kat and Raven were split apart or what happened to Kat in the black-hole. That final chapter had promise for sure, but quickly fell apart aside from the final boss I guess.

That said I really liked this series, however, it's bullshit like the ending that really pissed me off and makes me kinda glad they're pulling the plug on it. I understand leaving things vague where it makes sense, but you don't just throw in bullshit plot devices where it's clearly a big thing only to never explain it and leave people wanting something that will never be touched on ever again. If it wasn't for the serviceable care and attention to Kat's character and the abstract world, I would've had no problem believing a 14yo girl wrote the plot as it doesn't really go anywhere. The one thing I will agree about the franchise being relatable to dumb anime shit is the botched endings as I've given up on anime because of that. Kat being endearing will only get me so far.

I seriously think they should just do a short comic to kind of explain the bigger things because that won't cost as much money to do and the comic panel presentation is probably one of the better parts of this series, which itself saved on budget.

Currently downloading patch 1.04. It's a bit over 1Gb so I wonder if it's got anything to do with the Raven DLC.

Side note, I'm finishing the photo collections and some of those JPL hints are absurd. When it says "Marketplace", I'm not going to look in the freakin' skyscraper area.

Finally played the last chapter. I was expecting a short cutscene, a boss fight and that's a wrap but it's quite lengthy and, in true GR tradition, gets trippy and cryptic.

I had the feeling Syd was Alias since that part in the first game where Kat has a nightmare where she sees his face and recognizes it but I'm still confused as to what was his purpose as Alias. Was he testing Kat?
The mission select summary mentions Bit sacrificed himself to bring back Syd. Was he killed by Cali's guardian? I thought that was a robot double. So, was Syd a cyborg like Yunica?
Didn't expect to see Adreaux return. Is D'nelica the only character to not reappear?
Getting a taste of Raven gameplay was pretty cool. That boss was no joke. Didn't feel as hectic as the Angels but sure packed a punch.
Speaking of Angels, was surprising to see Cecie can turn into Durga at will. But this story sure loves its Deus Ex Machinae.
Satan Rudolph really shifted my jimmies. "Stop flapping your wings, asshole!" "Stop doing that power drain bullshit!" Sheesh…
The scene where people come out and start singing Kat's song was very surreal for me. It reminds me of Okami's finale but the music juxtaposed to what is happening gives the whole thing a very eerie vibe.
