Last thread reached its bump limit and is at the bottom of the catalog. Talk about vanilla, wads, levels, megawads, mods, TCs, Doom clones, ZScript, whatever. MetaDoom has updated to v3.0. Get it here: drive.google.com/file/d/0B1iDp2UZTDrecmF4YzFsMEwtYjQ/view (you need the latest stable build of GZDoom to run it)
SgtMarkIV will never not be the Shadman of the Doom mods.
Anyone played MoP recently? I wanted to make a server for it but everyone wants to just play chillax instead of a sensible mapset
Justin Gray

Jason Collins
Ok, I doubt anyone gives this much of a shit about Quake visuals but I'll ask here first anyway. The gl_texturemode cvar can be set to a more or less faithful to the software renderer setting of gl_nearest, however, this results in a kind of flickering effect on more distant textures. This can be avoided with gl_linear_mipmap_nearest or gl_texturemode_mipmap_nearest. However this then results in textures that have transparent pixels essentially disappearing at a distance, as can be seen in the image. Is there any way around this or is it simply a downside of using mipmapping?
Michael Hill
I want the dragon boy from that dragon mod to be my boyfriend!
Kayden Sanders
Which one? There are two mods with dragons now at least.
Julian Edwards
Is there a way to switch off mouse movement for Blood?
William Long
th-there are?
Juan Ortiz
Just played Putrifier. It may be Quake brown and have a sewage grade water feature but it sure is pretty in its own way.
Also dat amorphous flesh blob.
Ethan Scott
Finally, a new MetaDOOM update
Blake Smith
Downloaded PrBoom+ and started playing some Doom 2. Am I supposed to be fighting the controls at every juncture? My mouse keeps making me move forwards and backwards making precise movement a pain in the ass, apparently there's supposed to be an option for vert mouse that I can turn on or off but I can't find it.
Zachary Perry
why
Andrew Clark
New version of this when?
Evan Ward
...
Kayden Davis
performance isn't going to be an issue with doom tbh
Matthew Collins
It's Doom man. It can run on a fucking calculator.
Jacob Baker
Alright then, seeing as I appear to be retarded, I feel as if I should confirm the obvious and check that I should I go with Chocolate Doom?
Julian Martin
just use gzdoom
Grayson Robinson
Well you could, but is there a specific reason why you're going for these little-to-nothing-added-since-1993 ports?
Carter Green
Still, though, Chocolate Doom would let you turn off mouse movement.
Blake Long
Well I wanted to see what the old school experience is like as I've never played Doom before.
Xavier Wilson
oh… well chocolate doom is the thing then~
Gavin Allen
I'd recommend you play it with freelook(no jumping or crouching) and nothing else added. I used to go hardcare play the game like I used to (keyboard only) but these days I just like being to look up and down.
Aaron Richardson
You mean to say that everyone here is Tsundere to him?
Samuel Wilson
I've been saying this for years in regards to vanilla. Original Hardware -> DOSBox -> Chocolate Doom. In DOSBox you just use the oldschool novert.com TSR to disable Y-axis temporarily.
Evan Gray
PrBoom is great for really big boom-compatible mapsets that usually break the 2000+ monster mark because enemy AI and projectiles are hardcoded in a way that lets your CPU process it really quickly and thus it does not lag even on nuts.wad. However it suffers from mouse acceleration always being on and from an impossible to remove "looking up and down makes you move foward and backwards" annoying shit which fucks up anyone trying to use a mouse to play it, it really is a keyboard-only port in that way.
Chocolate doom is literally identical to DOSBox/running it on a DOS machine outside of bugs and visplane error faggotry that prevents modern compat 2 mapsets from being played in doom2.exe (like btsx series). Some purists will yell at people who don't conform to this fact though.
Zdoom and GZdoom are great for pretty much everything else that doesn't have to deal with multiplayer, since that's Zandronum's stick. It's only better than older ports if you're using mods though, since the changes to certain values and physics including RNG and enemy behaviour really does make it a different game than Chocolate or PrBoom.
Christian Myers
Will this ever be finished?
Nicholas Gutierrez

No he means that unlike Shadman, Mark is talented and deserve to be worshipped as the Lord and Saviour of Doom.
Adrian Butler
but when will he actually make his own assets????
Joseph Morgan
What's the name of the doom mod that let you pilot a mech? The hud was 'borrowed' from a racing game iirc.
Have Doom mods ever allowed 3D movement before? It would be interesting if someone made an arcade mobile suit simulator complete with space levels with inertia.
Eli Edwards
I wasn't even expecting a link-thank you.
Hudson Gomez
Options -> Mouse Sensitivity -> Vertical Sensitivity all the way to the left -> Novert or Options -> General -> Enable Mouselook -> On -> Mouse Sensitivity -> Mouselook all the way to the left -> Novert Both this methods work in PrBoom+2.5.1.4
Adam Nelson
You have to move vertical sensitivity all the way to 0 for it to work? It's really convoulted but it works, i guess. Dev could have done it better with just a "no mouse movement" switch but eh.
Gabriel Morgan
I feel like MetaDOOM could get some more attention but at the same time Kinsie could get hate for people assuming he hired shills for it.
Maybe i'm just being a retard, idunno.
Luke Bailey
Who would shill for a free mod that isn't even that popular? I mean, you have Brutal Doom getting shitloads of videos/propaganda/forums focused about it and there's always one faggot wanting to discuss it or sgtmark everywhere there is some doom discussion going on, except Doomworld because they're faggots, but you can hardly call anyone a shill for that, maybe that thing about Mark himself trying to boast his own ego but who would shill for a free mod? It doesn't really apply unless there's money in the line.
Daniel Bennett
use Doom Retro
Joseph Myers
Maybe you're right, i just wonder how long until someone like Icaruslives makes a video about it since he always does Doom mod stuff
Caleb Robinson
Nope, looking up and down is still hardcapped.
Sebastian Moore
Something i now is impossible is objects moving around and turning like falling domino's or something like controlling a plane and moving up/down or turning around to get an upside down view.
Think of a mod for Doom based on Ace Combat or Gravity Rush, that's something we all know will never happen.
Daniel Barnes
That's a small image.
Daniel Sanders
I think there's enough Doom discussion to warrant its own thread like there used to be.
Camden Ortiz
...
Lincoln Morales
Do you think physics for models would be possible to do in ZScript? I'm pretty sure it's possible to do the camera turn effect in GZDoom.
Joseph Bennett
Did someone mention skeletons?
I know i shouldn't ask, but has /vr/ fallen already? I know 8/vr/ is dead but i haven't been to 4cuck since the exodus
Connor Wilson
He already has. He's done videos about BD, Project Brutality and the Hell On Earth map pack.
Owen Reed
When?
Dylan Kelly
His BD vid is three years old, the other two are about a year old.
Daniel Perez
I thought you meant that he made a MetaDoom video
Wyatt Brown
I see we have a size queen.
Aaron Morales
Big is good, user. :^)
Dylan Fisher
Why isn't halfchan's /vr/ just named /doom/ since that's the only reason to be there?
Mason Jackson
there were other games discussed in there, but yeah the only thing about the board was the doom general and nothing else, maybe the CRT general but that din't have as many people in it.
Samuel Peterson
Sometimes the romhacking general is neat. But yeah, unless you're overjoyed to see a "Nintendo carts are insanely expensive" thread, or a "he's using an LCD monitor, he must hate video games" thread, or a "I just got a Retron for the wife's son GET IT IT'S A MEME GUISE! HAHA I'M SO FUNNY" thread for the fourteen billionth time, it's pretty bad.
Luis Bell
Or see 4/vr/ completely sperging out when someone mentions that gen 6 belongs in /vr/
I can't seem to create my own server with zandromum & doomseeker. I set up the name and broadcast to master but it doesn't show up in the server browser for anyone to find. Ports are forwarded (i think).
I have not kept up the quake modding scene at all but that looks incredible, what mods are being used here/what do people recommend?
Brayden Hall
that fucking crit system
Julian Thomas
I feel very close to committing an act of shamefur dispray and lowering the difficulty of Shadow Warrior. Shits harder than I thought.
Owen Adams
you may say whatever you want about his mods but his maps are good stuff
Josiah Richardson
There are 2 types of gamers- those that like to play Blood, and those that like to drink sperm.
Jin Saotome doesn't like to play Blood.
Lincoln Williams
Can you connect to the server yourself (from another machine)?
Juan Lopez
I don't know how to connect to servers outside of doomseeker. Also it doesn't launch the game for me locally unless I select Play Offline. It only gives me server console and tells me what level its loaded. I don't know how any of this works. Just want to play some fucking modded doom with a overseas friend.
Elijah Evans
Doom64 EX is breddy gud, and apparently the Kex2 engine will be used to port Build engine games (so far the devs have teased Blood and Turok).
David James
Reminder the source code was lost and there will never be a proper modern port to this game :C
Best Build engine game and the only way to play is with shitty dosbox.
Connor Cooper
Turok is a Build engine game?
Carson Collins
If what says is true, then we might see a proper Blood port in the near future.
Juan James
Reminder that the Strife source code was also lost and some autist managed to reverse engineer the whole game, so there's still hope for Blood
Tyler Brooks
Some russian is reverse-engineering the game. and it looks very promising.
Ethan Fisher
God bless those slavs. Is there anything they cant do?
Daniel Price
Huh? Last I heard one of the Monolith devs still had it but was too afraid to release it due to not wanting to risk a court case against Atari's sue happy asses or something.
Anthony Hughes
Reminder that Hideous Destructor is the best Doom .wad ever made and the Vulcanette is the best gun in the game.
Andrew Young
It's still good, but christ.
Camden Sanchez
This is just the Arcane Dimensions mod in Quakespasm, if you think that looks incredible you're in for a treat.
Main thing you should do to make the game not look like shit is place these settings in autoexec.cfg in the id1 folder: r_oldwater 1 r_particles 2 gl_texturemode 1 fog 0
Fog is kinda subjective but I find that most maps look better without it.

Hideous destructor. forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=12973 It's extremely difficult, and only works with dev builds of GZDoom. Read the manual before you even attempt playing it.
Zachary Barnes
It's doom, kinda. Except with the fact that it's now an extremedly brutally realisticunforgiving tactical shooter where not only Zombiemen will 3-shot you with a simple burst of their rifles, but you will have to fight with the controls all the time to even aim properly at something, and may god help you if your caseless-ammo rifle jams on you while imps are rushing to your position. forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=12973 It needs either ZDoom or GZDoom dev builds to work, recommended with GZDoom because certain vertical maps will fuck you over if you don't happen to have grenades. The Zoom function on certain precision/scoped rifles is also limited in ZDoom. Though, don't be discouraged with this initial introduction, it's entirely possible to beat Doom 1 and Doom 2 with it, and i have done several times however impossible that may sound or appear to you. It's doom for masochists/perfectionists if you put it in perspective. Remember to read the manual
Kayden Wilson
What? No. He has no fucking clue whatsoever how to build a design space.
Isaiah Harris
I'm not 100% sure, but the assets to Duke3D are importable through Turok in the Kex2 engine (which Kex2 goals are to port idTech1/2 engine and Build engie games, as well as be a stand-alone engine for new games).
Benjamin Fisher
I'm playing through hell on earth starter pack right now, I think it's some good shit. Playing with Project Brutality though, leagues better than regular BD
Brandon Smith
Play something like Scythe, Jenesis or Vanguard instead. What they lack in the amount of actors/detail that starterpack has, they do better in aesthetics and design that simply blows mark's out of the water.
Anthony Wilson
Isn't that false? I heard that the Source code is out there and plenty of devs have it but can't put anything out because Atari owns it fully or partially and they're absolute kikes.
James Martinez
I recently played through NuDOOM, and haven't been on Holla Forums in ages. what's the genreal concensus on it? is modding possible or has the 12 monster cap deterred modders?
Justin Hall
I've played all 3 Scythe WADs, pretty sure I've played Jenesis too. Vanguard looks fucking sick going by those screenshots, I'll have to try it out.
Parker Bennett
Concensus is that it's shit because this is Holla Forums. Personally it's one of the better FPS games to come out in recent years, but it doesn't deserve anywhere near the praise it gets from casuals/critics for being SO OLD-SCHOOL BRO. Played through it once, wouldn't play it again. Also I doubt anybody would bother modding it, snapmap is garbage
Brody Hughes
Congratulations user, you actually agree with the consensus you think you understand but fucking don't.
Most people here agree that, as a modern fps, it ain't bad, but relative to what it's trying to emulate, it's terrible. It completely misses the point of what makes Doom and other older fps games great, and instead focuses on being as visceral and action-packed as possible.
Julian Thomas
The "consensus" is that it's shit, but in reality it's pretty good. ID managed to put out one of the best modern fps games in years, for what that's worth. If anything, it's still not fast enough and tries to be too visceral at times. People said it was boring, but I disagree and replayed it on harder difficulties.. Definitely worth playing, but isn't a replacement for old stuff. The same can be said for a lot of old games, though. Snapmap sucks.
Jayden Ward
This is probably the best place to ask this. I keep getting a bug in eDuke that always puts me back at the first level of the episode. Even using a level warp command to skip to the next one, it puts me back to the first level when I finish. Anyone else seen this?
Noah Kelly
If I spent as much time studying as I did modding these fucking games I would probably be doing something important in my life.
David Stewart
Considering it was in development hell the fact that the game ended up decent is something to be commended outside of multiplayer, snapmap, and the stupidly huge filesize.
Josiah Ortiz
I was getting that glitch as well. I deleted everything and started fresh, I redownloaded eDuke, and fresh DK3D files from a different site. I know this is unhelpful, but it's what I did and it worked.
Thomas Johnson
Please do not call the studio that made Nu/Zenimax Doom id. id Software died many years ago and all that is left now is a corporate machine wearing their skin.
Alexander Gonzalez
At least 2 former monolith employees have full source code, one of them is ex-CEO Jace Hall. He even wanted to pay out of his own pocket to get this shit ported to newer operating systems but Atari shoot down his project.
Gavin Cook
Wow, that actually fucking worked. Cheers, user. I'll blow up a few alien bastards for you.
yeah I had this bug a year ago during one of the releases, got the newest release, recompiled it and bam it just werked.
Bentley Bailey
v_idlescale is used for when you complete a level, john romero wanted the default value to be higher than 0 but it gives motion sickness pretty bad
Ryan Wood
Poked at it a bit and I find a setting of 0.3 pretty good, has essentially no effect on your aim but gives a little bit of movement to your view.
Grayson Gomez
Huh, I never knew that.
Brody Gonzalez
After countless hours spent slaying demons I'm getting a bit tired of doomguy's face. Is there any way to change doomguy into a cute girl?
Luis Adams
How dare you?
Logan Harris
For anybody that plays Trailblazer, some guy on halfchan is making an addon for use in Heretic & Hexen. Adds a fuckton of monsters and stuff that changes the way the game plays, like being able to store health items like in vanilla Heretic & Hexen, scaling how much health the enemies have, and how much ammo spawns.
By the way, is there a way to get No Rest For The Living as a free wad without having to buy the BFG edition?
Ian Edwards
Just finished playing Hellcore 2.0, and it's a disappointment. Judging by the description the guy who wrote that saw some screenshots but never actually completed the wad. Doom wads usually have minimal level detail but well thought out monster spawns to make the gameplay entertaining, so I figured a calm zombie-killing session through gorgeous maps would be a nice change. The issue in hellcore is that that you don't walk around killing zombies and admiring the scenery, it's one or the other. You start the early levels walking through beautiful, but mostly empty maps until you hit a switch or grab a key, and suddenly 50 enemies simply teleport into previously explored areas. It feels like something that should be relegated to slaughtermaps, and it's a really cheap way of making detail-oriented maps challenging. Later on you'll find yourself in maps that are about as difficult as hell revealed, slaughtering demons with little attention paid to the scenery, with the last levels being the biggest offenders - I was so busy trying to survive the onslaught I never even noticed the details until I killed everything, by which point I was so injured and excited I didn't even care - I just wanted my next healthpack.
Speaking of healthpacks there's very little. In most wads you'll find corridors leading up to a soulsphere and expect a trap. Here it's the same, but substitute soulsphere with medium healthpack, of which there's probably an average of two per level and you should start to see why this fails. Taking in the atmosphere is something done passively when you're calm and at ease, but when most of the wad is spent at less than 50 health and no armor it's impossible to just unwind and take in the sights. Did I mention most levels have 200+ enemies and plenty of flat out unfair encounters?
In hindsight If I wasn't such an autist about always playing on UV I might have a different opinion, so if you just want to enjoy the visuals swallow your pride and play on easy.
Benjamin Morales
Y-you wouldn't happen to have that painting as a picture?
I think there's is a Quake mod for Doom that does replace the enemies.
Kevin Reed
How about staying there? Theres a fucking /vr/ board here, populate it.
Nathan Torres
Try Doom Radys
Kayden Barnes
Does this cyberdemon have fucking rocket exhaust hooves?
Jason Russell
Never had the chance to play Quake, was thinking about buying some of the games from GOG. Will Carmack and friends get any cash from the purchase or will it all go to bethesda and nu-id?
Brody Walker
Pretty sure it goes to nu-id. Just pirate Quake and mail $10 to Carmack if you really want to pay for it.
Ayden Sullivan
4cuck problems belong in 4cuck

Or wait until Romero's retarded kickstarter comes back up and fund it there. Or really, don't. They've more than made their profits off doom, and now all the shit they do is gay.
Blake Perry
Already said i don't go there anymore since 2014, for obvious reasons. I would post on /vr/ more often, but normally there's very little to discuss on it that isn't discussed here already.
Isaiah Smith
You know what would be funny? If someone recreated Blackroom based on the concept art and Romero's ideas for it in Doom like that Doom mod for Nu Male's Sky.
Aaron Howard
I'm new to these threads. Is there a /k/ mod for doom? Something like a YUGE arsenal, or tacticool wads.
I'm trying to play Prodoomerv3 because the idea of mmo mechanics in doom makes my dick rock hard and I keep getting this error.

I keep seeing shit from hexen and strife, but I have hexen installed and nothing from strife. I'm running this on the most current version of gzdoom. Any ideas?
Anthony Collins
Well shit.
Eli Wood
How many enemies can the Quake engine display on-screen at once anyways?
Kayden Hughes
When you say most current version of GZDoom, are you referring to the stable build or the bleeding edge build? It didn't work for 2.3.2, but it worked when I used the bleeding edge build.
John Peterson
Way less than Doom You have to remember that Quake was a resource hog when it was released and the game was designed around relatively low enemy counts.
Mason Young
I want to fuck that Doom girl
Nolan Walker
Crash is way better.
Ryan Martinez
While not Quake 1 related, in skullfuck 3.0 I managed to have 200 model based enemy in-game and they did not lagged much through it is also probably those models are low-polygonish and are vehicular based so they don't need much animation, with a stable 50-60 FPS.
I don't have any toaster PC at all so I cannot test how the performance is with such types.
Thomas Cook
Maybe the Serious Engine or some custom engine built around GL3 instancing would be best for this shit. I've thought about making a Serious Sam Moonman mod but I would need some experience with 3D modeling first.
Nicholas Lopez
(checked) Blender is a breddy gud tool for that tbh. Also the Serious Engine 1 source code is open now so its a gud choice as well, supposedly Croteam want's to update all of its Serious Sam games with Vulkan support I don't know what that means for Serious Engine 1 if it will receive that open update.
It really isn't, but it's good something that is also for free.
Nicholas Lee
Any good arcade-ish Doom mods to recommend?
Liam Morales
Contra Doom
Brody Miller
bump
Christopher Carter
If you are running the GOG version there should be a 'settings' option in your start menu. From there you can select Controller Setup -> Setup Advanced Control Options -> Advanced Mouse Setup. Here you can turn of mouse look for the X axis and mouse movement on the Y axis. Steam and DRM-free versions should work the same.
Owen Jenkins
D4D is actually a fun arcade game if you play on higher difficulties.
Owen Evans
that is some oldschool (read: stale) shellposting.
Nathan Anderson
His earlier videos were way better than the shit he's forcing now. Kinda sad to see term can't make a joke, only advertise his mod.
Colton Martinez
But those videos are Kegan's.
Never Breaking Orbit has been a lot of fun.
Liam White
Check the video that the previous one i posted is replying to. Can hardly be even called shellposting.
William Lewis
What engine supports splitscreen in Doom? I'm looking for a way to play coop with my kid, on the same keyboard. Worse comes to worst, one keyboard and one joypad.
I wouldn't say it's necessarily arcadey but I had fun running around killing enemies and rushing to collect their coins in Psychic. Police Brutality also looks like an old arcade game.
Chase Diaz
wew
Elijah White
So, if you want the true doom experience just play it on DOS box?
Tyler Harris
I know doom legacy does. but that port doesn't have suppor since like 10 years ago
Caleb Gonzalez
Imagine having a car accident and it's all because of this idea
Asher Williams
Any mods that turn Doom into more of a survival horror experience? I know of Hideous Destructor but I don't like how it severely underpowers the player and makes some wads impossible.
Isaiah Smith
Well, there's Ghouls Forest 3 for a whole total conversion thing. Buttpain is some sort of horror mod made to run with doom maps that's about trying to avoid a creature you can't fight. Lasting Light is a similar mod, but with multiple creatures you have to avoid. Shut Up and Bleed tries to be a more horror themed Doom. Finally, there's Ghosted 2, which is basically Slender, but with a variety of monsters to run from.
Jason Anderson
No, nig, you play ChocolateDoom instead.
Ryder Long
what a meme
Caleb Walker
oh wait there's also a nice pair of zenimax endorsement images here too haha i love todd howard
Hudson Diaz
How can I disable auto weapon switch in PrBoom+, can't locate it in the settings, additionally does it have a console? Found some old posts saying it doesn't but they were all 3+ years old.
What should I do for looking up and down in Heretic? What was even intended?
Joseph Allen
ZDoom (not GZDoom, which uses another method) only has look up/down because of the visplane hack that Heretic introduced and Hexen uses (Hexen also allows jumping, if you're wondering). Yeah you're allowed to use freelook in Heretic if you still want a "vanilla" experience with it.
Evan Roberts
I was wondering if I should just have the typical freelook on the mouse or have buttons for up/down/center or a button for toggling it. Seems like it's not worth it to both with the latter and that the game doesn't have as much vertical auto-aim as Doom does.
Noah Baker
So another version of that Trailblazer addon for Heretic & Hexen came out:
When will they make the monster randomizer work for Hexen? Also i noticed Mana of all three types rarely if ever spawns, instead either nothing spawns or scrap spawns even in really low rates despite everything being maxed out. It really fucks up the ammo game when 9 out of 10 pickups are empty and the one left is just scrap, out of a playthrough i did i could only find ONE blue mana pickup and that was at the second hub's, the Shadow Wood on the Wasteland sub-map. And no, setting Scrap to 0 or 1 just makes the pickups not spawn anything at all most of the time.
Luke Cruz
Some guy is actually trying to port Sonic Robo Blast 2 to Zandronum! THE ABSOLUTE MADMAN!
Are there any wads that use textures and sprites from Doom 64?
Ian Flores
As in maps or gameplay?
Gavin Bennett
Just maps with textures and sprites from the game
Carson Smith
Only ones I know of are the maps in Brutal Doom 64, which are mostly just remakes of Doom 64's.
Thomas Russell
Ok
Jacob Foster
I swear nobody here actually plays games.
And no, I didn't buy win 8 or install it on this computer.
Nolan Hernandez
then uninstall it, faggot
Luis Wright
why should I?
Henry Martin
Been searching for this for 15 minutes, but my google fu isn't good enough. Any anons want to spoonfeed?
Elijah Wilson
nvm I found it

Anyone have any info about the ss13 mod for doom?
Angel Bennett
> Hit the reload key to reload. (Hold the key to avoid dropping the mag.) Holy guts, YES! I will try this mod for this reason alone.
Dominic Morales
It also simulates barrel lenghts (you can't push into a wall with a rifle or shotgun infront, the barrel block you), proper recoil with muzzle climbs and recoil dampeners with the caseless rifle's burst firemode, bracing mechanics, proper ballistics (shotgun is highly effective up to 70+ meters and the spread is quite low, too bad every zombieman wears goddamn armor plates) with a 1.200 yards firing range and way more.
Just beware that the enemies have a slightly better arsenal than you do and that they don't fuck around.
Kayden Price
That's because he's got an ego the size of a small planetoid from his recent successes, and barely interacts with people outside his small friend group. He'll re-learn humor when he gets humbled by his "game" falling flat on its face from no one wanting to work with him due to his personality.
Eli Parker
He said "make", not "take".
Justin Carter
You can't make a good joke when you already assume you're funny.
Lincoln Jackson
Hideous Destructor is super intricate. There's an insane amount of code and tech under the hood to simulate a lot of gun handling.
It's got an entry barrier higher than anything else, but from a tech standpoint it's really interesting to look over.
Logan Scott
Unless you're playing nuts.wad which I think could rape even the most powerful computer at the NSA.
Carson Carter
Is there any more gud urban maps for Doom like Dawn of Reality? I played Hellbound a bit which seems to be close to it but honestly I like the style of Dawn of Reality map more.
Nolan Roberts
I don't know why but whenever I really get into using mods for a game I try to get as many of them running as possible at the same time. Is there anything out there for doom that does anything close to this? Can I have like 800 weapons and fight an insane amount of enemy variety all at once? AEoD is the only thing that came close but I still felt it was lacking.
It really gets me wondering just how many total conversions I can get going at once the most ive managed was 3 and that was years ago. Please anons sate my search for the promised lands.
I HUNGER FOR MORE
Aiden Murphy
There's Samsara mods that add a dozen extra characters and enemies from across the FPS landscape, but I've never been able to get them working myself, just played them in other people's servers. DUMP 3 adds a bajillion weapons which should work with other shit, you could probably combine it with OMGWeapons and/or colorful doom and/or the enemy replacements from arachnocide, although I haven't fucked with it myself.
Chase Reyes
Thanks for spoonfeeding, it was really killing the game for me.
Jordan Hughes
Nigga you dumb. NoSkill is literally rolling in his grave that you had the fucking audacity to post that.
Like the rest of us original DoomGods say: "git gud faggit"
Samuel Butler
Fucking why, it looks already like a good mod but with such a jump scare tier shit it's a deal breaker for me. Meh I guess I am going to modify it at some point and replace those ghouls with something else.
Is it just me or is DOOM 2 harder than DOOM 1? I have to savescum a lot more in this game
William Campbell
Sure you can have 800 weapons but 8 of them are going to actually be original, everything else will be some TF2 level shit where they're all different with minor tweaks. Just go play Aeons of Death if you're that thirsty for quantity vastly over quality.
Mason Morales
Shouldn't be too hard to rip the stupid ghoul shit out of it and just make it a weapon or map wad.
Bentley White
Some of the level design's a bit bullshit and it has new enemy designs that don't fuck around and generally round out the entire combat sandbox. So yeah it is harder, but you kind of need to get good.
Jace Hall
How should I play Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake and other classic FPS? Are there any essential emulators, ports or mods?
Nathan Lewis
Vanilla for Wolf3d through dosbox or some shit, EDuke32 for Duke, and Darkplaces for Quake if you don't give a shit about software graphics and want dumb fluff garbage, or Engoo if you want proper software looks.
Alexander Gonzalez
Doesn't that one fucks up the physics?
Colton Barnes
Yeah just a simple monster replacement and ripping out all the "scare" feature shit out should be relative easy, the only problem is I don't know what I should replace those things with. Maybe make a special MoonMan mod monster version or something. I…I… I don't know
Lincoln Sullivan
ECWolf is pretty good for Wolfenstein 3D.
Adam Bennett
Can anyone help me with doom rpg? I can get doom rpg and doomRLA to work but not both at the same time. The error says its trying to register something more than once
Parker Peterson
I can't force myself to be shit, this sucks
Jack Baker
This is what I have set up for DoomRLA and DoomRPG in ZDL in order: this should work, I believe
Jose Watson
In QW I end up using the fake latency setting in ezQuake to "even" things up. That barely works though.
Jaxson Hall
I've recently reminded myself about the existence of this gem inside HDoom: It's somehow more edgy than the people it's meant to mock. I wonder if people on 4/vr/ still get bothered when someone asks about it?
Brody Campbell
can anyone help me find an old .WAD i made in the mid 90s? I thought it was named something like 'g0-und1.wad' but I'm not seeing it in the usual WAD archive places.
it was an arena style deathmatch map, or a shell-counting single player hoarde challenge. it had a large round outside/upper level. the inside was square and had 4 sets of triangular stairs down to the bottom. there was a pillar in the middle with megahealth or blue armor.
the overhead map looked something like pic related.

I don't like GLDefs. I can't pinpoint a reason why, but I just really don't like GLDefs.
What are you working on, user?

You gotta make your own fun.

I use MetaDoom and put content locust on so i can randomize the items and enemies while playing on randomized levels
Ryder Lewis
Reelism is quite fun.
Adam Gray
I have to say SgtMarkIV's magnum opus is more arousing than basic bitch cuck's monstershit fantasy. Mark might be an edgy faggot, but at least he's not a cuckchanner or worse, an albanian.
Juan Long
Reminder mike did 60% of the animations and gore still used in Burlt dumb and he doesn't get any praise for it because of mark's autistic BR egofaggotry.
Zachary Howard
I like how he's implying that he actually put in animations compatible with HDoom sprites for brutal kills.
Carson Stewart
Given how much of a bitch this Mike faggot is I can only approve of Mark's attitude in Alpha'ing this cuck. Mark should fuck his waifu too while he's at it.
Jonathan Gonzalez
Reminder Mark threw a tantrum like a little kid when NuDoom got revealed and they STOLE his execution system from Brutal Doom. What an alpha.
Lucas Evans
Do people actually have fun this way? Half of cooperative servers seem to run like this.
Cameron Smith
Somebody on halfchan's been making an addon for Trailblazer, and it just got a new release. It's meant to be used in Heretic & Hexen. Lots of new monsters, and you have options to do stuff like only select certain guns to spawn, or carry suits of armor to equip later (like in Strife), and all the monsters can be activated and deactivated individually, so if you like certain new monsters, but not others, you can tweak things how you like.
That is surprisingly adorable. I started trying the Aliens (Ultimate Doom) mod. Replaces all the demons with xenomorphs (duh) darkens the map and randomises spawns every time you start a new play-through. Upshot is weapon spawns aren't fixed (I didn't get a shotgun through one episode-I got it as my first pickup in a different playthrough of the same one) and neither are the enemies. You can go large parts of a level with very few enemies and then a monster closet spawns a fucking horde and you're running for your life, or at least backpedaling furiously and emptying the gun. You can even run into fellow marines and synthetics and stuff. 10/10, amazing what a bit of randomized spawn, darkened areas and shit can do to a game. Someone ripped the Alien Trilogy sprites too, so they're coming in possibly the next version too. Vid related.
Asher Brown
You played multiplayer Complex Doom, wasn't it? That piece of shit is only good for invasion servers.
Carson Long
Yeah that was it, the servers I tried that happen to have that on are the only ones I can get to without 250 ping. I can get getting timed out from dying from walking into say a mancubus fire like a retard, but when every shot thrown at you starts at BFG strength there really is no point.
Caleb Jackson
Don't join complex doom servers, they are hosted by a cabal of elitist retards who keep hosting it as 1-life survival on shit mapsets. The monsters on complex are buffed in ways that mean even a simple zombieman can have an instakill railgun so no matter how careful you are, the chances of something killing you despite having maxed 200/200 are quite high.
Dylan Collins
Why do they do this?
John Clark
Why is zandronum always hosting All Out War, MM8BDM, Ghouls vs Humans (except not the original edition but shitty edits made by spics with a bloat of useless or redundant classes), Who Dun It or fucking slaughterfest mapsets like Chillax? Instead of plain Doom coop/deathmatch, or maybe some CTF or perhaps a fun mod like Master of Puppets on a sensible mapset?
The community is shit mang. They WANT to host these because they either worked on a patch for it or they invested too much time on a shit gamemode and never, ever played doom 2 even less beat it. I honestly don't get what's all the hype for Complex when it's literally Hard Doom with eurances' weapon sprites pack and crammed with more overpowered r667 monsters, when Hard Doom itself wasn't even popular at all in its heyday and was much better balanced than this shit.
Charles Anderson
This looks interesting. I'll have to give it a shot, thank you.
David Fisher
I doubt I'll ever get to play this. I've never even seen anyone hosting it, let alone people playing.
Brody Walker
Wasn't there some user around bragging about his 16-core dedicated serbian and offering to host games a few weeks ago?
Juan Walker
wait. Holla Forums Mark is Sgt_Mark_IV_the_uberfag? if so it's no wonder this board is 50/50 cancer/faggotry…
Christopher Jones
Holy shit you're retarded
Oliver Campbell
...
Logan Gray
...
Asher Barnes
No, there are in fact multiple Marks. The first one is Mark the Jew, also known as The King Cake Kike of Holla Forums, and the fourth is Mark the BR, also known as SGT_Mark_IV. There are still many Marks out there, spreading faggotry and cancer wherever they go.
Nathaniel Price
Mike is an artist first and foremost; he barely even codes anything. **Stapler-san does all of that for him*.* It's why HDoom's been stuck in tech demo phase for like 4 years now. Meanwhile Sgt. Mark is an autistic brogrammer who relentlessly pursues his dream of making his perfect gore simulator, even if he has to blatantly steal something to make that happen.
I just find it funny how Mike still hold a grudge against Mark after all these years, and how 4/vr/ loses their shit whenever BD is brought up.
However, all the drama has taught me to always make note of whose resources I'm using, if just to avoid future headaches.
inb4 somebody makes a hdoom add-on for BD
LMS a shit. Look for some regular co-op servers instead.
Robert Lopez
Not just that, he wants to be internet famous for it. There wouldn't have been any issue with him using other people's work had he just credited them instead of trying to do the best he could to be the sole name attached to BD.
Luis Watson
So basically all Marks are a Kevin. Got it.
Lucas Scott
how do i access the maps on metadoom? it's only giving me the default maps of the IWAD i choose. Also the monsters seems to not be changing. Do i need something else for it to run correctly?
Ryan Allen
I noticed this too in the files, don't know why it was there
Jordan White
Try putting the map after Meta Doom. gzdoom -iwad doom2.wad -file metadoom_v3_samuel.pk3 yourmaps.wad
what if i just wait for the time MDoom is announced to have its own wad or something?
Juan Ross
It's a gameplay mod dude, I don't think it's planned to have it's own maps. Just use ZDL and find a megaWAD you like. It's not difficult to use
Gabriel Green
Metadoom is set so that you start getting new monsters the further in the mapset you get, so you aren't overwhelmed by super difficult varieties right at the start.
Benjamin Long
Having a blast with Brutal Doom 64 on Classic mode. Call me casual but are there any good gameplay mods that remove enemy hitscan weapons?
No he did credit people. He didn't specifically specify who did what that was apparently the problem.
John Nelson
What's the recommended (grafix) configuration for ZDoom engines? (Specifically GZDoom.) Also are grafix enhancements gay?
Gabriel Anderson
Explain me in depth what makes a slaughter map fun.
Ryder Brown
You shoot a lot of things.
Henry Morris
Anyone know why mouselook feels so weird in PrBoom+? Initially I'd thought it was because I had been playing other shooters for a while so look on one axis just felt odd. But I installed GzDoom and it feels fine there.
Robert Carter
vid_renderer 0 (software rendering) Then disable all of the shitty filtering and set texturemode to rgb_a1. Anything beyond that is pretty minor and down to personal preference.
Connor Roberts
Slaughter is just a cheap excuse to give you a trillion enemies to kill, most of the time the maps are uncreative and just repetitive wave after wave of killing the same monsters.
Easton Edwards
did this happened to anyone when trying to run project brutality with PB overhaul? i don't have the foggiest idea of what is happening.
Ayden Morris
Did you run the overhaul before or after the base mod?
Jacob Edwards
They aren't, it is more of an epeen contest among the community on "who can beat the most stupidly long and filled with instakill traps map" type of thing. It's like when gooks are boasting about being better at RTS than everyone else, when all they play is SC.
Connor Young
I fixed it, it seems i had a old version of PB 2.03, i downloaded it again and it works now. Anyone has some megawads to recommend that are in the same vein as suspended in dusk? i really like that style, very detailed with good level design and some "oh shit!" parts. I tried to play Kdizd again, but them i remembered why i never finished it in the first place.
Jace Mitchell
Does a good one exist? I want to murder criminals
Owen Robinson
Its a cool lighting technique, but that ruins it a bit.
Eli Harris
Robocop technically doesn't murder criminals, he gives them a chance to stand down. Most of the time they decide to react aggressively so robocop has no choice but to use force and they tend to die because of it.
Luis Brooks
Make one, user, that handgun would be a fun to use.
Mason Jones
I'd like to see this game redone as a GZDoom TC.
Jose Roberts
I can see where that Auto-9 would fit in, it could pretty seamlessly replace the plasma gun, but I'm not sure what would have to be done with the enemies since they'd all be humans with a few exceptions. Maybe make the imps criminals that throw molotovs absurdly well but that's as far as my inner ideas guy is taking me. All the ideas in the world won't change that I don't even know where to start making something like that
Hunter Edwards
Apparently Kinsie said he would like to add more enemies in MetaDoom, inculding one from RoE if he has the right sprites for it, so if anyone wants to help…..
I'm just saying this to point it out
Brandon Robinson
Do you have Steam or Discord? I could give you a quick crash course on how2decorate and how to make things.
Nicholas Johnson
Is there a random level generator for Quake 1?
I know OBLIGE exists for doom, but I want one for Quake.

why
Anthony Evans
Because most of the Zandronum servers are anti-fun and you barely get to find anything new or exciting to play, mod or wad-wise.
Chase Thomas
Are there any other level randomizers out there?
I'm working with GZdoom and Oblige and it never really seems to create fairly open, unobstructed levels. They're almost always large but with many twisty maze-like corridors.
Anthony Myers

Jaxson Nelson
What would a Fallout inspired Doom mod/mapset play like? Not inspired by the later first person ones, but by the classic RPGs and Tactics.
Angel Watson
I used to hate slaughter maps until I played Hanging Gardens by Skillsaw. It gives you lots of armor and weapons right at the start instead of "here's a pistol, shotgun with 4 shells and a fuckton of archviles and shit, deal with it", The layout is complex and more interesting instead of a bunch of square rooms and it feels very manageable once you get out of the starting area despite fucktons of enemies everywhere.
Mason Anderson
It actually runs smooth as fuck if you're using PRBoom+. I have no idea how it manages to do this unless the guy who coded it is a fucking wizard.
Caleb Anderson
Are people still using the first Nuts? I thought Nuts 3 was the go-to for framerate rape. It's also prettier and has some genuine gameplay.
Daniel Ward
I wish I could use Russian OK with with. Sadly it doesn't seem to work.
Angel Ward
Probably Epic2.wad but a bit more wasteland-like and more atmosphere focused, with a dash of UACUltra.wad/Dark7.wad for the techbase levels.
Samuel Ross
You got that wrong. Chocolate Doom replicates all of DOS Doom 1.9 vanilla features (bugs) exactly, so it will also crash on VPO or other limit. That's actually the entire point of this port: to behave as close to the DOS release as possible, bugs included. If you run chocolate-doom-setup, you can turn off the vanilla savegame limit and demo limit, but those are the only possible adjustments. The rest, like visplanes, are all hardcoded like in DOS. If you want to change them, you have to edit the source code and bump up the constants, then compile your own binary. Pic is old map I was making.
