Okay, Soldier's ult is stupid, I get it, but it's not generally an autoaim game like that. At least criticize the parts of the game that deserve criticism. Lack of maps, game modes being limited, loot boxes, comp mode being a mess etc.
I play this game because my friends do, so I'm familiar with its systems. It's not a good game, but it's not as bad as people say. Some of the mechanics are interesting, though nothing groundbreaking. It's competent, and nothing more or less. It certainly doesn't deserve a general, let alone threads that are designed to talk about its flaws.

Anyone who has actually played Overwatch knows that Soldier 76 is an incredibly balanced character and the auto-aim bullshit is a 5-second ability you can only trigger a few times per game.

The real broken auto-aim character is Symettra, whose PRIMARY WEAPON she uses 100% of the time literally snaps onto enemies and won't let go even if you're not fucking looking at them. You can jump around and evade without trying to aim and your magic gun will deal constant damage until one of you dies. Plus even one of her shitty little auto-turrets slows down your walk speed to make you an even easier target, and by the time you see it and take it out, you're already dead.

FUCK SYMETTRA. No fucking skill required at all.

He is still the most simple character.
He is the most casual of all the heroes and his ult while only seconds is still BS.

Just fucking hide? His ult can't do shit if you run behind a rock or around a corner, or if you've got a Reinhardt on your team. And yeah he's simple because he's made to be the entry-level generic shooter guy with straightforward abilities for people new to the game, but also an effective offense choice. In any case he actually does need to aim 98% of the time, and if you're getting your ass beat by Soldiers you either need to git gud, or the Soldier player already has got gud.

I've seen a pretty big performance disparity in Zarya players, they're either god-awful or amazing and you don't see her that often outside of competitive, which says to me that unskilled players don't like using her. She had more of a learning curve than most, for me. And my friends don't like her.

But that reticle is less than 1/4th of the screen, and it still requires aiming to use effectively. You can easily measure the diameter of the reticle, find the area, and divide that by the area of the screenshot to find it's less than 25% of the screen.

Considering previously they halved ultimate generation rate, I'd say right now they're doing the opposite of what you're saying.

For example, right now they lengthening the cooldown of Roadhog's hook, it's going from 6 to 8 seconds, so that there's more emphasis on his basic weapon attacks and less emphasis on his hook ability.
I am unaware of any ability that the cooldown has been reduced on without being nerfed in some other way.

Just play Pharah, fuck up her turrets and her from a distance and the street shitter can only get mad at you as you rain down rockets, get good at aiming and you can two shot Symmetra and stop her bullshit before your team even attempts to breach the chokepoint
Symmetra is a character who excels at close range and keeping you from pushing through the chokepoint, so when you see her, start picking long range characters and flankers and bypass her bullshit.

And then if you're a shit player who couldn't get a kill otherwise, then the enemy team is probably smart enough to avoid your ult too. It's not guaranteed results. I've seen 76 ults with zero kills.

Soldier's "aimbot" is a 5 second ability that snaps to the torso of characters.
This means that going against another Soldier that can aim at your head properly will have him win the fight despite no aimbot. The point of that Ultimate isn't to cause damage or kill people, you can do that far better without it than with it, provided you can aim.

This isn't even mentioning characters like Bastion, Reaper or even Tracer that WILL murder you faster than you kill them aiming at your torso as well. Of all the Ultis in the game, it's the most lack luster one.

The point of that ability is to be able to instantly and reliably put some pressure on the enemy team. You activate it, move out of cover and anyone not behind a wall is gonna feel the pain. It's a supressing ability, not a "get kills" ability.
A lot of noob Soldiers get killed very easily when they overextend, trying to reach people in cover before the Ulti runs out and get killed because they move in alone.

Haven't played it. Know it's super popular and has MOBA (hate that term) elements.

As someone who enjoys games like Serious Sam and Painkiller, modes like instagib, and run-and-game gameplay that requires quickly and accurately aiming and dodging–

is the skill floor as low as I perceive it to be (very low), is the bulk of the playerbase normal people who suck at games even when they're not kids, and does the departure from typical "everyone has assault rifles" gameplay make it play like old TF2 or something different?

user, let's not be facitious here. He's the "default character" tie in to ease the default CoD crowd into the game. He has self healing, sprinting and a secondary mode akin to grenades (or the noobtube) for his assault rifle, he's supposed to be the closest thing you get to traditional modern shooters so some players have a character they feel familiar with.
Paladins has Viktor for the very same reason.

He's still not a bad hero, it's pretty fun to play with him, and even as a character, he's entertaining enough.

The game is built and balanced around those abilities because that's how team-based shooters are built.

If you're having trouble with IDs, you can turn on Color ID's option so you can see that it wasn't me who said that. First day in Holla Forums is always hard, don't worry much about it.

Flying all the time makes you less effective because you're not hitscan at all and it just invites actual hitscan heroes to ruin your day. You can certainly fly for longer than 2 seconds when moving to combat or flanking around, but during actual combat, it's a deathwish.

With Widow, it's not about how many kills you get, it's about what kills you get. Getting their Mercy matters a lot more than killing their McCree or their Soldier.
Widow is funny because of that, some games your team will lose and nobody will be able to pinpoint what exactly went wrong, but you know very well it was you not doing a good job and letting a 5v6 happen in front of you.
I'd play her more often, but there's a lot of tryhards that use her too and it's not very fun to play against another Widow.

And widowmaker again her hip joints are too high which gives her a huge ass, but they also decided to give her normal to wide sized hips which makes her butt even bigger, her spine the last 2 joints that connect her torso to her pelvis are almost at a 90 degree angle because her hips are tilted so far forwards the only way you could pull that off IRL is to have a women bending all the way forwards with their hands on their knee's

I think it has more to do with the animations. Tracer has a really weird belly in that pic but it's likely to be so because her normal stance has her slightly hunched over.
It's quite hard to do proper anatomically correct bodies because joints and fat tissue don't actually bend very well so you have to make some compromises.

Widow in comparison gets a nice fat ass because she stands straight most of the time, and even during her grapply, she's in a flat posture.

I'm just glad they didn't went the super duper realistic way and made everyone butt ugly, trying to make them like actual humans. Cartoon characters are far more fun and aesthetically pleasant than uncanny valley.

The issue with overwatch is how many stupid no skill abilities there are. 76's aimbot, Hanzo's Arrow, Roadhogs hook, ect take no aim at all in an FPS game of all things.
Not only that but the game is based on luck just as much as it is skill. Getting skilled a lot of the time is based on walking throw a hallway and getting "Headshot" by an arrow a foot away. Unlike any decently designed game a lot of times you had no way of knowing what was about to kill you.
The fact that the game doesn't have ammo also means that the game encourages spam. It's a thoughtless skill less game that is poorly balanced.

This is because the game is coded so that Ana's rifle goes directly to the target's center of mass REGARDLESS OF WHERE ON THE HITBOX YOU CLICK. This isn't aim assist. Aim assist would be if the hitbox was normal sized but as soon as you got close to it your reticle would be pulled into it, as seen in the Halo video here

I like to compare ultimates to superweapons like in Unreal Tournament. You don't really aim with a Redeemer either, but it doesn't really detract from the game. It's easy to shut down if it's used improperly and there can be a lot of strategy in how you use it or deny it to the enemy. Same deal in Overwatch really, lots of strategy in managing your ults and trying to keep your enemy at a disadvantage in the same terms. Doesn't matter if they don't require aim, that's not where the skill comes in anyway.

But a redeemer takes skill to get and even some skill to aim. It isn't just given to you.

It was literally only a few hours ago that the Overwatchdrone user got caught samefagging in another thread.

Actually user makes a pretty good point about the superweapons, as you can't just use your Mccree ultimate without waiting for the right moment and/or coordinating with your team as odds are there's a Reinhardt on the enemy team with his shield up that will be protecting his allies whilst 4-5 other fuckers turn to shoot at you whilst you can't move.

You can see an example in this webm, Mccree goes in alone, has no mobility, no tanks to protect him or distract for him, so it's a simple matter to nail him in the head and easily kill him.

Same goes for Soldier76, if there's an enemy Rein or D.Va or Winston, or Genji, they'll just put a shield up and absorb all your damage, or in Genji's case stand in front of you and deflect all your bullets at you and make you kill yourself.
Soldier's ultimate isn't even that good, I think another user pointed it out earlier, but the auto targeting hits the torso, meaning an enemy soldier will fire rockets at you dealing 120 damage and shoot you in the head killing you faster than you can kill them, I've done that once or twice. It's rare that kind of situation arises though as there's usually a tank to protect the team from stuff like that.
Just some simple examples but ever since the ult charge rate got halved you really cannot waste your ultimate.

This webm is a really good use of Soldier's ultimate but it only worked well because the enemy team were the most stupid group of rejects that have ever had the misfortune to touch a mouse and keyboard, Hanzo and Mercy were out of position, Hanzo was retarded and didn't kill Soldier which he easily could have, Mercy wasn't healing the tank, why on earth is she healing Hanzo, the most lowest value healing target?
Widowmaker was also out of position she's heard soldier use his ultimate I've no idea why she's anywhere near the front of the team she's had 5 seconds to run behind the tank by the time soldier gets to her she also could have killed soldier if she wasn't retarded, but she's playing Widowmaker with a Hanzo on the same team, so no fucking wonder she's too much of a inbred retard to aim and shoot.
The enemy Reinhardt and soldier are both distracted and wounded by the allied Reinhardt, just like to mention the fact that the enemy Reinhardt got charged out of the point by the allied Reinhardt meaning he had rushed the point on his own like a fucking moron.
But anyway this means our Soldier can just walk in and kill them with little to no effort, as like to mention they didn't just leave the game as soon as they saw Widowmaker and Hanzo on the same team, so they're likely also retarded.
The more I look at this webm the more I see about the enemy team that disgusts me.

It's actually better to prioritize non-tanks as Mercy (or Zen). They are generally in much more danger of dying suddenly if they are missing health and you can do much more to prevent their deaths by healing them. Tanks will frequently take more damage than you can heal or else they simply won't take enough to die anyway. Healing priority is therefor Healer>DPS>Tanks. Hanzo in particular is also a pretty decent Boost target, so doubly valuable to Mercy. Obviously that depends on the skill of the Hanzo player.

Ana is a little more dynamic, preferring to nade-burst tanks when possible, but if she can land her shots it's still better to heal up any DPS or Healers she can when the 'nade isn't called for.

I say he's the lowest priority healing target as Hanzo is not in the fight and has two medpacks to use nearby, whereas Reinhardt was truly in the thick of it. My bad for being unclear about it.
I know it more often goes as you say when there's good gameplay going on, but in this situation, I would have said Reinhardt was the highest priority.

It's in the details. Notice the cinematic shorts take place on the actual maps? Have you ever noticed that there are changes to those maps left behind by the cinematics, like for example Hanzo's arrows stuck around Hanimura?

Plus there's the in game dialogs between characters and various other things that can be found around maps, and of course stuff outside the game. They do tell a story and build a universe, it's just not in one place through some cheesy ass campaign mode.

On the other hand, it's still pretty obvious they are making shit up as they go, so the method is good but the quality sucks.
