The left hatred for the police is nonsense. They are the same as you, they need to work for their living in a job they probably hate. It might even be that the police agree with your goals on the personal level. It's just that when you start destroying infrastructure or attacking people, they need to intervene or lose their livelihood.
Of course you might criticize them for picking a job in which they would be the violent enforcers of the ruling class but some people just don't have much of a choice. You think they are the enemy and like hurting them but the real enemy is the guy making the orders, whom you have never hurt in the slightest.

If you desire revolution, conflict with the police might become necessary sooner or later but until the point where you are confident that you can win, engaging them is counterproductive. When the time to crush them comes, a seemingly peaceful protest should escalate to utter violence so that they are not prepared and can be defeated without their defence equipment. If you keep using your most powerful weapons, firebombs, on them, they will be expecting them and they will fail you, splashing ineffectively against their defensive suits, when you would really need them to work.
To make it short, you are creating long term disadvantages for real revolutionaries just to get some cheap catharsis.

We shouldn't attack cops on the front. It is already a lost battle. They have better equipment, more organization, (more people?) and most of all, more popular support.
If we want to leave private property undefended, we would do best by attacking it from behind and within.
More unionized policemen would help.
More class consciousness in general would too.
Of course, experience and techniques fighting against them is also important, as not all of them will come over. But demonizing our side by murdering "innocent defenders of the law" will not be helpful.
What we must do is let the police realize how shitty the current law they're defending is. We must also show them a choice: fighting for the law, or fighting for the people. Of course, you note how many current corporations fight against the people, in essence.

And the ones that will keep defending the exploiters, the enemies of the common good, we burn if necessary. (If necessary, negative PR will ensue)

In an "edgy" way sure, but you also have to understand that they chose to do this and continue doing this despite the oppression and coercion. If there were a draft for the police force then I could have some sympathy, but they know what they're going into completely.

Should violence against the police be completely abstained just because technically they are working class? No more so than one would abstain from fighting the military in times of revolution.

Cops are not our allies. Unlike the military where you have a lot of good people who end up entrenched in it because they either have no other prospects or are never exposed to the horrors that the military partakes in, cops are voluntary participants in the system. You don't just sign up and become a cop: you have to want it and (to the extent that would be expected of someone with the Autism Level just above retarded) work for it. For those who wanted to "serve and protect the community," it only takes a year or two to realize that the actions demanded of your are inhumane and only a fraction of the work you do has to do with the "serve and protect" mantra. This is the point where the good people leave the building (some high profile instances of this being the cops leaving over Standing Rock abuses) and you're left with the power-tripping psychopaths and establishment hacks. The latter group outright won't follow you into revolution, and the former group you don't want in your revolutionary movement. So to those still left in the police force: fuck them.

If you want an armed and trained group of people to join the movement, look to military personnel and vets: they know of exploitation and the horrors of capitalism-driven imperialism and can be persuaded to the cause. Cops are not your saviors, nor will the ever be.
