The OP is actually right. Even if the consensus here about Venezuela being 0% socialist were true it would still be irrelevant as their brand of not-real socialism still stands as an example of outside forces interfering with the market process, which are the exact same grounds that real socialism are criticized on.

I'm no apologist for the Western propaganda this bootlicker has brainlessly eaten up, capitalism has played a large part in Venezuela's crisis as well. But pretending socialist ideas had no part is just a cowardly retreat.

Read a book.

If you think Venezuela is Socialist in the Marxist sense then you don't know anything about South American politics, center-left politicians here love to flirt with Communism but it's just that: flirting. That's why Argentina has had good relations with Cuba from the start despite not being Socialist at all. Chavez loved the idea of revolutions and revolutionaries in general because he was a megalomaniac, instead of the Communist Manifesto he jumped right into Mao's Little Red Book which holds little theory and it's just slogans (Mao dropped his theories in On Contradiction and On Practice) and supossedly when his mother asked him what he wanted to be as an adult he answered "a revolutionary".

And the USSR wasn't Communist, that's empirically correct, it's whether it was Socialist that is debatable.

Define what you think socialism is.
Define capitalism for the hell of it too.

*farts*

There's a really big difference between simply interfering in the market process and outright expropiating the means of production, they are incomparable, if anyone should be made guilty it would be Keynes.
Plus Venezuela is a particulary bad example rife with corruption and excessive dependance in petrodollars, Bolivia is center-left too and it's doing fine, same for countries like Sweden, it's like critisicing libertarians using solely Somalia as an example.

Here's your refutation m8

just webm that shit, my nigga

Venezuela has private ownership of the MoP, free markets, wage labour, and production for profit. It is a capitalist country with some heavily social democratic policies.

The USSR had money, a state, and arguably classes. It was not a communist society and they never even claimed to be.

The only thing that Venezuela proves is that corruption, petrodollars, and half-measures really don't mix.

If you are going to implement socialism then do it, shit or get off the pot. Instead they just kept a market economy while strangling the fuck out of their own markets, and even then it took an oil collapse to usher in the current crisis.

both those answares are correct tho

venezueal is not socialism, ussr was socialist tho, but not communist
