almost all of the abilities are just gadgets and don't guarantee you to get kills, a lot of them are means to destroy walls or prevent walls from being destroyed anyway rather than killing tools. most gadgets have a limited supply as well, there's no cooldowns or ultimate attacks it's just a gadget you get

the microtransactions are just cosmetics that fucking suck or you can buy the DLC operators instead of grinding for them

There ain't none, best you can hope for is to plant the defuser in a corner and stand on top of it.

What said, the microtransactions are skins, there's no maps or characters or accessories you're locked out when you play this game. Ubisoft is even taking cues from the Siege development team when it comes to DLC and I hope Ubisoft sorts their shit out.

This game is pretty far from realism as you can get with SMGs now being roughly equal to carbines and LMGs, bullets come out of red dots/ACOGs/reflex sights and all the retarded and wacky gadget bullshittery. It's fun but it's not realistic in the slightest.

You can pay to unlock characters faster but honestly, the grind isn't especially obnoxious; they're grouped into their organizations (SAS, FBI, GIGN, ect) and the first few in every organisation are cheap (it gets more expensive the more characters in a group you buy) so it's really easy to buy into lots of groups and get a pretty wide selection quickly.

The realism kinda wavers. For the most part everything will be satisfactory, but like what said, bullets come out of wherever you're aiming and not the barrel, and some of the gadgets stretch the imagination, like how bandits shock wires won't hurt friendlies but will still destroy friendly gadgets, and echoes drone shooting sonic bursts and having active camouflage is pretty unrealistic. Also for most of the guns they follow the damage abstraction and balance philosophy rather than going for full realism.

DLCs are free updates with a new map that doesn't require anything. The operators do require a lot more points to unlock, though.

Recruit FBI-shield with the FN57 was geniunely broken pre-Dust Line since he had a frag grenade, a handgun with 20+1 rounds, and he was the only 3 speed shield user.

I still pick him most of the times I want to use a shield since Blitz and Montagne always let me down but now I think he's better used as an offensive shotgunner for the Russian and German shotguns.

Montagne is FUCKING INVINCIBLE right now, nothing can break through that extended shield, not even Nitro Cells. How are you having trouble with him?

Generally when I play Montagne and Blitz people just shoot me in the face through my shield thanks to netcode. I'm certain it will happen just as much if I keep playing recruit more but until then I can at least feel like his shield is protecting me better.

Ignore him and kill his friends first, because he'll probably be walling, and if he's not just shoot his hands. If he is wallling shoot his friends until he's alone, then flank him. If he's being aggressive, he can't do anything until he unwalls himself, and when he does just melee him and he'll be staggered and vulnerable.

If he's blocking a door, try to bait him in just a little bit and throw nitro at the top of the doorframe. He'll either turn around to block the explosion or unwall and you can shoot him. Or he won't do anything after he walks in so you just blow the nitro and kill him

I wouldn't be able to know what to tell you, outside of trying to run it in windowed mode and disabling any programs running in the background. I do experience similar kind of freezes when HDD usage activity is rather high, though that only happens when I'm installing or extracting some shit.

I get the same, almost every round I get a 10 second freeze in the prep phase and sometimes during the attack phase too, usually getting me killed. There's no fix, some people just get fucked by Ubisofts bad programming.

I'm salty that Siege doesn't have plot, because that last Situation was a nice start to what could've been a pretty good plot. I get that the game was focused on multiplayer, but the gameplay and setting could lend itself to a pretty good story. Even if it was just story segments for each map that linked them together would be a nice touch.

I'm almost certain that Siege was supposed to be the multiplayer portion of Patriots but once they scrapped Patriots they put all their work into Siege.

get Rook for defenders and Sledge for attackers

With Rook you'll always be of benefit to everyone by giving them extra armor even, even if you aren't that good at killing shit
Sledge is good for learning the ins and outs of destructable points in maps, while at the same time not costing the team too much if you die unlike Thermite/Hibana/Fuze. Alternatively if you want to learn camera positions in maps, IQ is a decent choice, although she requires proper team communication to be useful which is almost never the case in Casual. Ash is also decent for opening up holes, and with Thatcher you only need to follow Thermite around while disabling any jammers/electronics on reinforced walls so that Thermite can blow a big fucking hole in it.

ACOG + Foregrip is the meta. Muzzle device is up to your preference. Suppressor's a viable choice now since the white indicator if you get shot at. Never use laser sight.

ACOG if available, Reflex is the second best choice. Foregrip has zero disadvantages and is always used. Muzzle brake is the best for burst fire, compensator is the best for full-auto. Laser sight is only used on secondaries by shield operators, they are a heavy disadvantage everywhere else

He's a lot better now than he used to be since there's fewer Thatchers running around, having been replaced by Fuzes and other selfish attackers.

And he's pretty easy to use, only slightly more learning than Rook

If I wasnt playing Fuze I'd play Thatcher or Twitch more. Fuze is a huge boon, though, so I find it risky not to have anyone running him

It's great when there are wood floors, and the enemy team doesn't realize or know that you're right above them ready to drop death. They really need to buff Jaeger's ADSs though, because as it stands virtually nothing can stop fuze if he's determined to carpet bomb a certain area.

Maybe have one or two guy max up there could be useful, but it's still a lot on the off chance there is a fuse in the enemy team.

worst case scenario, the enemy team kills you on the floor above and you get to warn your team that the enemy is approaching from above
best case scenario, if the enemy doesn't approach the upper floor for some time, you can flank them from above if their attention isn't focused at your direction

I think they just need to revert the Fuze buff. Fuze's guns are all really good even without him using his gadget. Shit, even with a shield and he's amazing because the Makarov hits for 25 damage at max falloff and 2-3 shots people up close depending on if they decided to take Rook's armor.

Mute's wifi, Jaeger's ADS, and either Valkyrie's Blackeyes or roamers watching those week spots. Fuze tends to drop situational awareness when moving in to plant, so watch those opportune areas and send him bullets to have him second-guessing his ideas.

Or kill him first. That's actually never a bad idea as he tends to have the most casualty producing gadget AND can get a LMG, making him a Russian rape ranger.

For some, but not all, this is preferable. Having the eyes above to watch the hatch AND peek down in case the enemy gets in is generally better than either the enemy getting the height advantage or only having a highly linear means of repelling an enemy advance. Assymetrical warfare is a cruel bitch.

what i will say is that it has hands down the best destruction physics on the market right now because it actually fully affects gameplay and can radically change the outcome of a match, some of the better design choices i'm convinced are actually a fluke by ubisoft

As far as I can tell and as far as patch notes have said, there is no skill assessment in casual matchmaking. It just slaps ten players together as fast as it can. It used to take time played/account level into consideration but they removed that because it was fucking something up.

Your alternative is ranked which is full of aimbotters and wallhackers so it's really a lose/lose choice, best bet is just to find some people of decent enough skill to queue with in casual and try not to take it too seriously when you get put in an awfully one-sided game.

Yeah. It would be nice to have a "must have pick" for defense. Offense has thatcher, thermite, and fuze as some "must haves" but defense not really, except maybe jaeger or rook because they are so situational.

Rook and Mute are definitely must haves in this age of Fuze dominance, I would say Pulse or Valkyrie too. All the rest are basically interchangeable, Bandit can do about as good roaming as Jaeger and with Fuze's charges being too fast for the anti-grenade shit and nobody really using other grenades it generally seems more useful to cover walls with batteries so Mute can use his jammers on windows and doors. It feels like unless it's hostage you have to build your whole team around shutting down or picking off Fuze before he gets to roll the dice on his free RNG kills.

Jaeger still sees a lot of use, flashes and frags are still viable options against defenders. Mute is ALWAYS usefull, limiting attacker intel is simply too useful. Bandit can be pretty good with Mute and Jaeger aslo, but like Mute he needs to be flexible for really good useage. Bandit's anti-Thermite trick, etc

What are the differences between the shields? I know blitz has a a paper thin one for some fucking reason, but how does Fuze's and recruit's shield compare to Montagne's?

They're pretty much all slightly better than Blitz's but you'll still die way too often to people just spraying right into your shield head on. Only exception is deployed Montagne shield which is the only one that is actually guaranteed to stop bullets that hit it.

I'd wager Montagne is above Blitz and IQ now, Fuze is definitely at the top, ash might have moved ahead of Thermite too since probably a third of all Thermite picks are Hibanas instead now. I don't know where the DLC ops would be or if anything has really changed for defenders though Castle and Kapkan seem a lot more prevalent and Smoke a lot less so.

Fast and easy to use gadget. People don't necessarily rely on you all the time and you don't necessarily rely on them either.

Kapkan's traps were really shit at the beginning and that image is still from that time. Thermite's pick rate also dropped when they took the frags from him.

I wish there was more vidya that would use proxy chat but as you pointed out using external comms would just override it. It's a shame it's been devolved really as a gimmick.

They're not strong enough to kill someone in one hit unless the person is already injured. A low armor enemy probably dies if they're hit by two, not sure. They're more for making holes apart from that.

Impact grenades are pretty much complete garbage, bring them on maps like Border, House or training for bomb where you can use them to blow down walls connecting the bomb rooms and don't bother ever trying to use them offensively except maybe to spam at a corner you think someone might be preparing to peek.

claymores work best as roamer denial and when used in conjunction with bait
many players tend to not look at the ground for traps when there's other players nearby alerted to their position

I noticed they work quite well when you're securing, defusing or grabbing the hostage and a defender is in a hurry to get to you.

impact grenades aren'y really to be used offensively, they're about making quick holes in walls to escape through or clear paths between bombs

No, unless they have Ash or Sledge he's extremely useful unless the enemy has a Fuze and they coordinate the attack in which you run out of the room and you die as they're right outside the door. Tips for him are to close windows and only one doorway in the objective room.

i wouldn't say useless but easy to use incorrectly, you pretty much need to team him up with mute to make him effective

I've seen whole teams die just because their Castle was a retard and locked everyone in. That makes him even worse than useless.
That said, he can really slow down certain attackers on their way to the objective, which is very effective when the time is running out.

Hes not useless but His skill caps is high and because of that every retard uses it incorrectly and causes teamkills. Similar to fuze hitting hostage or ash breaching windows at spawn, or smoke not CCing doors, or solo roaming pulses or rooks that dont drop their armor at mouse holes or worse wait until the game has started

CC stands for Crowd Control, and yeah you basically got the concept right. Not necessarily using the smoke to kill someone, but as a preventative measure to block off an entry for a short while.

Yeah they're a much better control device than a kill device. I've seen so many smokes use the grenades solely to try and get kills and 9/10 times it doesn't do a thing and they get killed by someone flanking them while they sit there staring at the smoke.

but jaegers magpie can't stop a fuze charge very well either, it can only hit 2-3 of the bombs

They can bounce around you know, so unless you covered the entire room it's not useless.

Also when the fuck are they going to let you mute people in the text chat? It's so fucking annoying when you run into faggots spamming memes in the chat and you can't do anything about it, this is a common fucking feature in like every fucking online game and yet over a fucking year later there's still no sign of it.

You can ignore the chat easily since it's semitransparent and non-intrusive (not at the top of the screen) in its location.

Fuze's hockey pucks are super random. They must've gotten super lucky since there is no safe spot, as I've even gotten tke'd by my own puck while hanging OUTSIDE the next window.
