How visible is cloak shimmer when stationery, crouching, and just looking around? Is it visible at all? Does crouching have any effect on cloak quality vs. standing still?

It's real easy to miss a cloaked infiltrator that isn't moving if someone isn't looking for it. Be wary of flashlights, as they point out where they are. Sprinting while cloaked is more easily spotted than walking while cloaked. I think they're both more easily spotted than crouch walking while cloaked, but I only really cloak while running away, adjusting my position, or flanking.

MCG remains worse than the CARV in every single way - you're claiming that's OP? Lasher isn't particularly good either. Pounders do that job better. Jackhammer was viable, but at the end of the day, it was a shotgun and still shit. Having all the heavy class weapons be worthless isn't good design. Why not just remove them entirely then?

Really too, heavy isn't the be all and end all class. Play medic and don't be a healcuck. Medics get the best weapons by far (burst variants of the defaults are flat overpowered), and provided you can aim, you'll stomp heavies. Do not touch your heal tool. Healing is a meme. Just use AOE heal for yourself, shield capacitor, and C-4.

I suppose I'll pass on the shotgun then. Guess it's time to finally invest in a Liberator.

Shotguns should be towards the end of what you grind out, since they're almost always bad if you aren't a fan of jumping into chokepoints and dying a shitload.

If you're keen to save some certs - the shredder is totally fine as a belly gun. It works amazingly with the hyena. Magazine upgrades are very important on the shredder though. Just remember too, tankbuster (upgrade mag size, big improvement) and afterburners are critical. Anything else, and you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, against infantry it'll suffer, but it's extremely versatile for everything else.

Shredder/hyena will fuck all over ESF's with a 3 man lib crew.

If you've only got a two man crew, shredder/bulldog works well too. I've run that in server smashes before, and had very positive results. When things got too squishy on the ground, swapping to zepher/hyena worked well too.

Don't get the duster unless you've got everything else you want certed. It's extremely good on swarmed biolab air-pads (ie, 20 kills in 3 seconds type good), but that's about it. Most other places, you're better with zepher or bulldog.

If your main goal is to kill infantry, get a banshee instead of a lib, and get an experienced pilot to teach you the reverse maneuver / ESF basics in VR. It's extremely good.

Why not Nanoweave instead of shield capacitor?

Shield capacitor + AOE means you're nearly always at full health. Less downtime waiting for shields to regen means less time waiting in cover / more killing, it also means less chance of you dying if you're not in the mood for waiting.

Nanoweave is bad against any good player. They'll just head-shot you. You're better off if you're always entering engagements at 100% health.

I've posted in this thread about getting a Liberator certed out earlier. so far I got:
-Zepher with Thermals
-Tank Buster with 1 level in extended mags
-1 level in Afterburners
-1 level in composite armor

Got any suggestions? My performance slot is empty so far and the tailgun is still stock.

I haven't certed into it, but if you use the pilot gun, it's a pain in the ass for the belly and tail gun to be able to do anything until after you've already pulled off the target. They really need to make it a 4 person plane and decouple the front gun from the pilot. Why the fuck does anyone put thermals on vehicles? Zoom is far fucking better, especially when it's a vehicle who's entire point is going in and out of combat quickly.

Unless you're nearly scraping the ground, it's completely useless on a plane. I can see it being put on your firearm, but not being able to fine-tune your shots in a vehicle because the drop-off for thermal is so sharp makes it a pain in the ass to do anything.

General question: What's the point of Slug ammo in shotguns?

I believe it concentrates the shots into a single slug so you can hit people better at range. But rather than having a few bullets hit somebody guaranteed from spread, you have one chance to hit or miss.

The end result is a shotgun that is worse for CQC that allows you to shoot at stuff farther away than 5m, even if you have a secondary weapon for that purpose.

If you want to still have ranged combat, either get one of the semiauto scout rifles, or the snipers with iron sights and slap a 3/3.4/4 scope on it.

High-G is great if you plan on tankbusting people.

Hyena missiles are great for getting ESF's to leave you alone.

They make target acquisition much faster. They also allow you to see through smoke and vehicle destruction effects.

Ie, on a vulcan, you can kill the bailed tank crew, obscured by smoke. On a marauder, you can see through all the smoke and effects shit to find the biggest blob of mans, with a banshee or zepher, you know instantly where the biggest blob of mans is.

Zoom is a meme on anything designed to kill infantry. At the distance where thermal stops picking up guys from the air, the infantry also stop rendering, making zoom redundant.

I find zoom helps a shitload on the Vulcan when you're having to fine tune your lead on vehicles because the driver is bouncing the harasser around because of other vehicles or shit on the ground that's in the way. The only time I see smoke that isn't coming off a vehicle is when some idiot decided to waste 100 certs on the grenade launcher, and even then it's piss easy to adjust with zoom to shoot the infantry. I really hate flying in the game, and I only really use ground vehicles as a way to get from one hex to another at this point.

I meant one for sniping and one for memes respectively, sorry.

Fuck the thermal, zoom is better for Vulcan.

Zoom is really not worth it on the harasser vulcan.

Damage fall-off means that any range you'd be able to get zoom benefit, you're doing like half damage, and probably shouldn't be shooting. Makes killing infantry slightly harder if you find yourself in an infantry heavy fight.

It incentivises pub gunners to shoot at far away shit too, which kills stealth.

With anti-infantry weapons, if you're pro, thermals are absolutely invaluable. I've driven gunners for about ~8000 marauder/canister kills, (plus about 4000 myself), and once you're in a good farm, they will start laying down smoke. They're doing this on assumption that you use zoom. Once the smoke is down, they will run out into the open and die by the dozens. There's also the question of explosions in busy fights, as well as being able to swivel the turret a 360 in half a second and identify all targets.

The vuncan sucks impressivly against infantry. Granted, it IS a shortrange AV weapon.
Worst is that the bullets loose velocity extremly quickly. Not a problem against a sundie's ass, but small targets like infantry become decently hard to hit, especially if the harasser is moving, wich it probably is.
Not saying you can't kill infantry with it, but short of the AA weapons, everything else works better.

I don't think we've ever had more than 2-3 vulcan harassers running at one time, simply because it costs a shitload of certs to fully deck one out to not fall apart like wet tissue if a tank looks at it funny.
