Try the paper clip trick on the PSU. BE CAREFUL and detach the PSU from all other components before attempting test. Maybe pull up a video on how to do this.

If it acts strange then you may have found your problem. Get on the phone with EVGA and troubleshoot, if unsuccessful, activate the warranty and get them to mail you a new or equivalent PSU.

I had an issue with my build and had to get a new PSU. It was a platinum rated corsair unit, so it's not like these problems are exclusive to EVGA The power supply is one of the most critical and finicky parts in a PC.

If it's not the power supply then try inspecting the motherboard for scorch marks and maybe attempt re-seating the CPU and look for bent pins on it. Double check all cables aren't damaged and are connected, like the 24-pin and PSU power supply.

Also, the 1070 GPU can easily support a "2K" / 1440p monitor. I found an equivalent monitor to the one listed in your build. It has G-Sync, which will help eliminate vertical "tearing" in games. Particularly useful if you play with a lot of texture modes, like in Skyrim for example. it does have a higher refresh rate but I've heard beyond 100hz there isn't a big difference. Also, Dell monitors tend to be pretty good with color reproduction and have nice deep blacks. So, the colors of an IPS vs a TN panel may not be too painful to pass on. IPS monitors would only add to the price as well.

Make sure to have that small speaker plugged into the F_Panel (doesn't look like the mobo has a built in speaker for BIOS codes). Now when you turn it on do you get a series of beeps in a pattern? There are no major problems with this build. You did good. There are some tweaks suggested here that I can definitely get behind:
- needing 16gb of ram is a shitty meme perpetuated by fucking retards: I'm currently programming and crunching lots of data and even I rarely use more than 8.
- if you're going to use the GTX 1070, you should get a better monitor, otherwise it's kind of a waste. You could also downgrade to a 1060. It's a solid card. Up to you.
- Get an SSD and put your operating system(s) on it. Seriously. And you don't need a huge one, something in the 128-300gb area is fine.

Like I said user, you did good on your first build. A lot of the rest is personal choice or shit you buy only if you need to. Good luck faggot.

Reminder gaming laptops are just a gimmick and an excuse to over charge. Just look for a mobile workstation. You will get way more bang for your buck. They shove throttled processors into gaming laptops. If the processor end in a U (Intel) or E(AMD) congrats you got boned. The processors prioritize low power consumption over performance and no amount of configuration can undo that.

That's really too much for that resolution, of course super resolution exists, but you usually get powerful gpus like that if you have a 1440p monitor.
